Rally For Israel at the G-20 Summit
Turkish Tomorrow? by Yaakov Kirschen (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/17/2010 8:00:00 PM
Are we witnessing a major shake-up in the region with Turkey going Islamist and becoming part of the anti -Western Islamic Jihad bloc? Will Gaza, the Palestinians, and the “Flotilla” affair be successfully and skillfully used to focus Turkish public attention on the “demonic Jews” while the throat of secular Turkey is slit? Forbes offers this interesting analysis out of Istanbul: Erdogan’s Dangerous Rhetoric “ISTANBUL — Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan’s speech upon his return to Turkey from meeting President Obama was greeted in some quarters with relief. “At least he didn’t declare war,” said one headline. Understandably, the confrontation between Israeli commandos and the Mavi Marmara has consumed the media here. And though it seemed, at first, that the national mood was one of shock followed by outrage, already numerous gently demurring voices have begun to break the surface. The prime minister’s speeches showed no such restraint: “Even bullies, pirates and criminals have a code of honor,” he said, “but for those who have none, it would be a compliment to call them such names.” Condemning Israel for harming innocents, Erdogan added, “Even in a war, you don’t attack women, children and religious personnel,” (without, of course, elaborating on what to do if the latter happen to be combatants, as they often are in Islamist circles). The prime minister has traveled the country in a kind of victory tour inciting massed crowds to chant anti-Israeli slogans, repeatedly citing “Thou Shalt Not Kill” as being explicitly a commandment from the Torah and therefore all the greater a sin when committed by Israel. Some 22 national leaders are currently in Istanbul for a conference of Eurasian nations; Erdogan is publicly flogging the issue there, too. The atmosphere in Turkey is highly combustible and open to political exploitation. Photos of bashed and bleeding young Israeli commandos published in the leading newspaper,

Amos Horev: Castrated Palestinian in Blood Vengeance by Richard Silverstein (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/17/2010 5:39:33 PM
Amos Horev, Palmach officer meted out 'Biblical justice' to alleged Palestinian rapist (Wikipedia) Amos Horev, the retired IDF general, former Technion president, and chief booster of the Israeli defense industry, has a rather sordid past that many might find akin to being a terrorist, Israel-style. He is one of three panel members of the Gaza flotilla investigation and this incident, described by the inimitable Tom Segev in a 2002 Haaretz article, should shed light on the type of justice he might mete out in this inquiry: `We castrated you, Mohammed!’ In the mid-1940s, a popular song[by Haim Hefer] among the members of the Palmach was entitled “We castrated you, we castrated you, Mohammed!” [ Serasnucha ya Muhammad in Arabic--the link to the song in Hebrew above oddly censors the Arabic word for castration in the lyrics, turning it into Saragosa] That song is remembered even today. During the 60 years that have passed since that time, various theories have surfaced about the song’s origin. However, it was commonly assumed that members of the Palmach had tracked down and then castrated an Arab who had raped a Jewish woman. This was not an isolated case. In his biography of Yitzhak Sadeh, Zvika Dror writes that the commander of the Palmach even sent some of his men to a special course that was given at the Mendele clinic of the Kupat Holim Clalit health maintenance organization. “We would go there at 8:30 P.M. when the clinic was empty,” Dror quotes his source. “A physician and a nurse taught us anatomy and afterward we practiced a castration procedure.” Now it is official: A book by Gamliel Cohen, “Undercover: The Untold Story of the Palmach’s Undercover Arab Unit,” published by the Ministry of Defense and the Galili Center for Defense Studies, reveals, with amazing precision, who the mythological “Mohammed” was, whom he raped, who authorized the rapist’s castration, who performed the castration and how precisely the “surgical operation” was carried out. Cohen eventually joined the Mossad. He describes how the Palmach’s undercover agents performed their liquidations; the same procedure is being used today in the territories. The rapist…is identified in Cohen’s book as Araf Ahmed Shatawi, a broad-shouldered, muscular man who lived in the village of Bissan, where the town of Beit She’an is presently located. Shatawi was suspected of
having attempted to rape a young woman from Kibbutz Messilot. According to Cohen, the suspicions were based on intelligence data. Shatawi was alleged to have spotted the woman as she descended from a bus and to have dragged her into the bushes. She struggled and managed to thwart the rape attempt. Since the atmosphere in the kibbutz was already highly charged and since this was not the first attempted rape, the supreme command of the Haganah decided that it would provide an effective response to the incident. At first it was proposed that Shatawi be assassinated; however, because of the fear that an assassination might set off a chain of blood vendettas, it was decided, as Cohen puts it, “to deal with him in accordance with the biblical principle that calls for the chopping off of a thief’s hand and which, in this case, would call for attacking the organ he used to perform the crime, namely, for castrating him.” The plan was submitted to Shaul Avigur for approval. He was somewhat hesitant, in view of the cruel nature of the proposed action; however, Yehoshua Palmon, who later became the prime minister’s
adviser on Arab affairs, persuaded him, and Avigur gave the plan the green light. According to Cohen, who quotes documents preserved in the IDF archives, the two individuals who carried out the castration procedure were Yohai Bin-Nun, who later became a major general and the commander-in-chief of the Israel Navy, and Amos Horev, who also later became a major general, the chief scientist of the defense establishment and the president of the Technion– Israel Institute of Technology. There was a third man, named Yaakuba Cohen; however, according to the Ministry of Defense version of the incident, he did not actually participate in the castration but instead stood guard over the rapist’s family, while Bin-Nun and Horev dragged him from his home into an open field, where they castrated him. Before they set off for this mission, they were briefed by the chief physician of the communities of Tel Yosef and Ein Harod. Cohen does not name him. The book then goes on to provide a detailed surgical description of the castration, which sounds almost like a “do-it-yourself” manual. In the final analysis, according to the Ministry of Defense
version, the “operation, it was pointed out, proved highly valuable because it had an immense impact on the entire Beit She’an Valley and horrified the Arab population.” No doubt, Amos Horev feels like the Israeli bus driver who decorated his bus with a banner that read: Flotilla 13 [the navy unit that attacked the Mavi Marmara], be ashamed. Why did you kill so few? Yes, there are those who will say this incident happened nearly 70 years ago and times have changed and that people change. I’m not even going to argue with this proposition though I disagree with it. The fact is that Horev should not have been appointed because his past taints his participation in the present inquiry. Surely, not even a reasonable supporter of the Gaza attack can argue that Horev has the type of past that would instill confidence that he can judge the facts dispassionately. As an aside, if Israel embraces the type of Biblical justice meted out by the Palmach to the alleged Palestinian rapist, then should we expect, in the unlikely event the Israeli commission finds Flotilla 13 guilty of criminal acts against the Mavi Marmara passengers, that Horev will advocate cutting off the trigger fingers of the shooters? Or perhaps Turkey should take that mission on itself in the event the commission absolves the team of any culpability? And the next time any supporter of Israel’s draconian policies rants about Arab terror, let them consider for a moment the rather sordid past of some of Israel’s current elite. If those who engaged in acts of terror like Horev can play major roles in their nation’s subsequent history, there is no reason why those Israel currently labels dangerous, murderous terrorists cannot do the same in Palestine. Letters: Echoes of Widgery in flotilla inquiry by World news: Israel | guardian.co.uk (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/17/2010 4:05:46 PM
“Prompt, impartial, credible and transparent investigation” – the words being used to justify the internal Israeli inquiry into the deadly assault on the humanitarian flotilla attempting to run the blockade of Gaza ( Obama backs Israeli internal inquiry into assault on flotilla, 14 June). These words sound too similar to those used for the setting up of the now-ridiculed Widgery inquiry into the Bloody Sunday killings, which justified the behaviour of the paratroopers and blamed the innocent civil rights marchers for what happened. Two events with similar protagonists and similar results: a military force attacking peaceful protesters with terrible consequences. Surely, now the truth of what happened on Bloody Sunday has been confirmed by the conclusions of the Saville inquiry ( 38 years on, justice at last, 16 June), Israel’s clearly politically motivated inquiry headed by a former Israeli supreme court judge, Yaakov Tirkel, should not be acceptable. As did Widgery, I
imagine he will come under immense pressure from his prime minister to deliver an acceptable judgment. In contrast to Obama’s approval, the international community should categorically reject the Israeli proposal. We don’t want another Widgery inquiry with all the poisonous baggage that that left behind. Ernest Rodker London • Lord Trimble’s credentials as an impartial observer of the Israeli inquiry seem questionable. Is this not the same person who in 1998 endorsed the Widgery report? He warned Tony Blair that the Saville findings should not deviate a millimetre from Widgery’s. We may confidently anticipate that the Israeli inquiry will report that, although the killings bordered on the reckless, they were lawful. Enraged over Jihad Flotilla, Turkey introduces "roadmap" to "completely" cut ties with Israel by Robert (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/17/2010 4:26:25 PM
Enraged over Jihad Flotilla, Turkey introduces “roadmap” to “completely” cut ties with Israel Turkey was once one of the nations of the world closest to Israel. But with the Erdogan regime working hard to destroy Turkish secularism and reimpose Sharia, that relationship had to end. “Turkey to cut ‘all ties’ with Israel,” from PressTV, June 17 (thanks to Joseph): After an Israeli attack on a Gazabound flotilla that left nine Turkish citizens dead, Ankara has introduced a roadmap to “completely” cut its ties with Israel. After Israel failed to apologize or pay compensations for the killing of the Turkish citizens in its attack on
the Mavi Marmara on May 31, Turkish Defense Industry Implementation Committee (SSIK) reviewed the country’s military agreements and joint projects with Israel on Thursday. The SSIK held a meeting chaired by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday and decided to shelve 16 military agreements with Israel, including a $757 million plane and tank modernization project and a missile project worth over $1.5 billion. Turkish President Abdullah Gul had earlier announced that a roadmap was to be prepared on the issue of sanctions against Israel. “The roadmap details a process through which Turkey will completely cut its ties with Israel” in several stages, Turkey’s Today’s Zaman reported on Thursday. According to the roadmap, the first
step would be that Turkey’s ambassador to Tel Aviv, who had been previously recalled, will not be sent back unless Israel sends a member to a UN investigatory commission that aims to look into the Israeli attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla. Furthermore, the roadmap requires all military training and cooperation with Israel to be halted and states that an internal Israeli inquiry into the attack will in no way be recognized by Turkey…. Turkey has been an anti-Jewish country for hundreds of years I am sure that most of you have already seen the voluminous evidence that Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan stood behind the IHH – the terror organization that was behind the violence on the Mavi Marmara at the end of last month. But in general, the media has been behaving as if Erdogan’s support for the IHH and his government’s antiJewish attitudes are ‘only’ anti-Israel or are new. In fact, even the Turkish Jewish community has made statements that everything is fine, that they support Erdogan and that they condemn the closure imposed on Gaza. Andrew Bostom demonstrates that the media is living a lie, that Erdogan has been guilty of anti-Jewish behavior at least since the mid-1970’s and that the Turkish Jewish community (40% of whom left for Israel after World War II) has been living in denial of its dhimmi status for hundreds of years. Here’s some of what he writes about Erdogan and his political mentors. Why would Erdogan and the AKP support—clandestinely, and now openly—an IHH movement redolent with jihadism (including links to Al Qaeda[2]) and Jew[4] hatred[5], while sundering relations with Israel? A 7-page report[8] released in late
January of this year by the Israeli Foreign Ministry (i.e., its “Center for Political Research”) accurately highlighted Erdogan’s personal role in fomenting Antisemitism among the Turkish populace—particularly, his granting legitimacy to anti-Israeli television programs (“Valley of the Wolves”) and newspapers (“Vakit”) rife with blatant Antisemitic content. The report concluded[8], aptly For Erdogan, Israel-bashing is a way of bolstering his status with Islamic and Middle Eastern states, which Turkey would like to lead, and against the Turkish opposition, as well as with his own party’s target audience and nationalist elements of the Turkish public… For Erdogan and some of those around him there is no distinction between “Israeli” and “Jewish,” and therefore, [their] antiIsrael fervor and criticism become anti-Jewish. Obama bangs his head on the Syrian wall by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/17/2010 10:20:00 PM
Obama bangs his head on the Syrian wall Representative Ed Royce (RCal) has a good comment on President Obumbler’s latest gambit to try to pry Syria away from Iran. Royce argues that President Professor Obumbler is beating his head against a Syrian wall. Professor Obama’s tests aside, Assad has failed the real world test. How about the reports of Syria transferring Scud missiles to Hezbollah, or its support for other militants in the region, or the stonewalling on its nuclear program? Do top Microsoft, Dell, Cisco and Symantec execs really want to be in Damascus? This potential tech transfer is troubling. The State Department will surely argue that it’d open-up Syria to the free flow of information. More
likely, though, is that Assad would use this technology to better spy on Syrian opponents. That’s what the Iranians did, employing European telecom technology. One Syrian dissident quoted suspected this motivation. Unfortunately many are moving toward Iran. Turkey and Brazil are
running interference for its rogue nuclear program, Russia wants to sell Iran missiles and China is developing its oil industry. Peeling Syria away from Iran: now that’s a dropped call. Indeed. posted by Carl in Jerusalem @ 8:20 AM

Jewish Pesach and the Origins of the Christian Easter: Open Questions in Current Research (Studia Judaica / Forschungen Zur Wissenschaft Des Judentums) by paraisrael (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/17/2010 11:10:12 PM
Jewish Pesach and the Origins of the Christian Easter: Open Questions in Current Research (Studia Judaica / Forschungen Zur Wissenschaft Des Judentums) The study assesses the main issues in the current debate about the early history of Pesach and Easter and provides new insights into the development of these two festivals. The author argues that the prescriptions of Exodus 12 provide the celebration of the Pesach in Jerusalem with an etiological background in order to connect the pilgrim festival with the story of the Exodus. The thesis that the Christian
Easter evolved as a festival against a Jewish form of celebrating Pesach in the second century and that the development of Easter Sunday is dependent upon this custom is endorsed by the author’s close study of relevant texts such as the Haggada of Pesach; the “Poem of the four nights” in the Palestinian Targum Tradition; the structure of the Easter vigil. Israel’s new allies? by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/17/2010 6:24:00 PM
Israel’s new allies? I hope this story is true. It says that Israel is allying itself with Greece and Cyprus as a counterweight to Turkey’s courting of Syria and Iran. Is Israel replacing Turkey with Cyprus and Greece? The American television network in Arabic “Al-Hura” quoted sources in the Israeli Foreign Ministry that the Foreign Minister of Cyprus Marcos Akifrianu secretly visited Israel ten days ago to discuss with him ways of cooperation between the countries in their struggle against the new TurkisIranian alliance. The sources also reported that a senior representative of the Greek government secretly visited Israel a few days ago to discuss the same matter. Al-Hura is a television station owned
by the American government that broadcasts in Arabic to this region. I discussed it at length here. posted by Carl in Jerusalem @ 4:24 AM Hija del Zion para Israel Support Israel • Tisha b’Av 2008 Dad/Ari's Zayda being just terrific.... • Joseph Massad loves the word “colonialism” Joseph Massad, the anti-gay and virtually anti-semitic Columbia University professor whose hatred of Israel is legendary, has written another screed for Al Ahram that exposes his faulty methods of rea... • Obama bows to China again Obama bows to China again The Obama administration is so desperate to gain a consensus in the UN Security Council - even if that consensus means ...
