Gilad Shalit watching the World Cup? by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 9:34:00 PM
Gilad Shalit watching the World Cup? Hamas claims that kidnapped IDF Corporal Gilad Shalit (four years held hostage on Friday) is watching the World Cup Soccer matches from his prison in Gaza. Of course, they won’t let the Red Cross or anyone else in to verify it. Shalit has been following the daily matches on the pro-Hamas al-Aqsa satellite channel, al-Resallah news reported. … The report said watching the soccer matches helps Shalit forget his despair “after the Israeli government decided to suspend indirect talks to finalize the swap deal with Hamas.” The report, which does not quote any sources within Hamas or among Shalit’s captors and reads like propaganda, claims that the abducted soldier is tired of the Israeli politicians’ lies and their false vows to secure his release, and therefore he is focusing on the World Cup games because he understands that the Israeli public is more focused on soccer than on him. Egypt, and later Germany, had tried to finalize a prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel. However, the efforts collapsed after Hamas insisted that Israel free 1,000 Palestinian prisoners, including those who were directly involved in terror attacks against Israelis. The report said Shalit, who holds French nationality, “was very sad when France was defeated by Mexico during the World Cup matches held in South Africa.” But Hamas has turned down yet another request to let the Red Cross visit Shalit. They claim that they are afraid that if the Red Cross is allowed to visit Shalit, Israel will conduct a rescue operation. In an interview with Hamas newspaper, Falastin, four years after Schalit was captured, Hamas lawmaker Yichia Musa said that the Red Cross had not taken into consideration the reality and situation
on the ground as well as the political and military issues involved. That’s funny. I don’t recall any such considerations being part of the Geneva Convention. Why doesn’t the Red Cross or the ‘international community’ call Hamas on that? Of course – Shalit is a Jew and the hypocrites at the Red Cross (who barred Israel’s Magen David Adom for nearly 60 years and made it change its logo as a condition for admission) and in the ‘international community’ treat Jews differently than everyone else. Musa explained that Hamas’s concern was based on the security of the location in which the soldier was being held. The Red Cross would not be able to “guarantee Schalit’s safety,” the Hamas official was quoted as saying. “Handling this matter in an unthoughtful way will encourage Israel to engage in an operation to rescue Shalit from captivity with force, something that may endanger everyone involved,” Musa warned. He declared that the Red Cross “can discuss the rights of 8,000 Palestinian prisoners which Israel is denying
humanitarian rights to in a way that clearly exposes their [Israel's] offensive manner, ‘Schalit Law’ being a recent example.” Ah yes, the Shalit law. It would scale back the rights of ‘Palestinian’ terrorists to what’s required under international law as compared with the family visits, televisions and cell phones that they currently have. In addition, Musa explained that Hamas has been replying to demands in negotiations with Israel and transferred letters from the Schalit family to Gilad. “We cannot continue to send letters to and from Gilad since Israel is using special technology to try and locate his [Gilad's] location. This damages our efforts to end the suffering of Palestinian prisoners,” Hamas lawmaker concluded. Funny – I don’t recall seeing that in the Geneva Convention either. By the way, it’s not that the International Red Cross has not tried to visit Shalit. The International Committee of the Red Cross said it has approached Hamas a number of times to allow its representatives to visit the kidnapped
soldier in Gaza, only to be denied time after time. “One of our main achievements is that we have been able to visit nearly everyone detained in connection to this conflict, with the exception of Gilad Shalit,” Pierre Dorbes, deputy head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Israel and the Occupied Territories, told Haaretz on Tuesday. But of course. Shalit is the one prisoner who is not controlled by Israel. Friday will mark four years since Gilad Shalit was kidnapped from the Kerem Shalom crossing point. There was a mass rally in Paris on Tuesday to mark the occasion, and there’s a flotilla of peace being held in New York on Thursday to demand Shalit’s release. And in Rome, they turned out the lights in the Colosseum to demand Shalit’s release. But the UN and its ‘Human Rights Commission’ are silent, the ‘international community’ is silent (and continues to throw money at Hamas and to demand its ‘human rights’) and even our ‘friends’ are silent. Gilad Shalit is a Jew so no one outside of Israel and the Jewish community cares about his fate. A Terrorist’s Guide to Improving Israel’s Media Coverage by Daniel Greenfield @ the Sultan Knish blog (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 8:12:00 PM
When you’re in a competition and you’re losing, one of the first thing to do is to study what your opponent is doing and copy him. In this case Israel is competing for good media coverage with the terrorists. And the terrorists are winning. And if the media likes them so much, maybe it’s time to start doing what they do. 1. Get Good Media Coverage By Excluding Bad Media Coverage Say that two movies will be coming out next week. One of those movies has studio which bans all critics who have spoken unfavorably about it from seeing it. The other movie welcomes all reviewers. When the final numbers are tallied, which movie do you think will have the best reviews? The one that didn’t screen the movie for any critics who were not favorably disposed toward it. Sure the other movie might claim that its favorable reviews were honest. And that and a dime will buy you a cup of coffee. Now say that these two studios keep doing this for 10 years, and that they’re the only game in town. Eventually just to be able to do their jobs, critics will almost always positively review movies from the studio that bars critics, and almost always negatively review the movies from the other studio to stay on the good side of the first studio. That is because selecting for optimal results will produce them. Free societies “screen” for all critics. Totalitarian ones only play to supportive audiences. That is why they get the better publicity than free societies. Journalistic integrity is supposed to make up the difference by telling the truth to the public. When it doesn’t, then the journalists are functioning willingly as tools of totalitarian regimes. And maybe it’s time to give them the boot. If Israel wants the same supportive coverage that Fatah and Hamas get, it needs to play by their rules. Press credentials would then go to those who provide positive coverage. Those reporters who want to take pictures of wall graffiti and stage photos of Muslim children throwing stones at Israeli tanks need not apply. If the New York Times or NBC News can’t find anyone willing to play by those rules, the way they do in Gaza and Ramallah, then they can stay home and they won’t be able to do their jobs. The mainstream media will be outraged, you say. There will be even more negative coverage. As if there isn’t heaps of it now. And what will the negative media coverage be of?
Reporters forced to stay home. Foreign correspondents who have to cover an election in Hungary, instead of eating caviar in a Jerusalem hotel and writing vicious articles about Jewish Middle Eastern refugees living in East Jerusalem. Haaretz reporters will have to move to London to write biting columns in the Guardian about how racist the country they used to live in, is. Before they move on to the inevitable theater reviews and finally begin writing ad copy for insurance agencies. Oh the pathos, the pity. No one will care. Should Israel do this? It’s not the way of a free society, but there’s only so much propaganda for a totalitarian society that even the freest society can endure before it is destroyed. Freedom comes with responsibility. The main responsibility is not to use that freedom to destroy the free society whose freedom you enjoy. Drill enough holes in a boat, and either the boat will sink or you’ll be escorted off and Carnival Cruises will never let you brook a cruise with them again. 2. Get Good Coverage by Killing People All the Time Terrorist groups are always killing people, which the media is fine with. Israel on the other hand mostly doesn’t kill anyone. Occasionally it goes after terrorists and kills some of them. An international outcry immediately results. This paradox is explained by a well known defect commonly present in children and moral idiots. This moral defect judges consistently evil behavior more favorably, than inconsistently good behavior. Another “Oppressed Mansion” in Ramallah In other words, someone who steals all the time is viewed more favorably than a seemingly solid citizen who gets caught shoplifting. Don’t believe me? Count how many ballads have been written about highwaymen, bank robbers and terrorists. The answer is a whole lot. This defect does not judge the morality of behavior, but its consistency. Someone who is consistently bad is seen as good, because he sticks to his principles. Which are bad. Clearly proving that he’s good. Because if he weren’t good, why would he be bad all the time? It must be because he believes that his behavior is really good. So all we have to do is understand his point of view to see why he acts this way. On the other hand someone who is inconsistent is clearly a hypocrite. Otherwise why is his behavior inconsistent? Clearly he knows he’s doing wrong and occasionally tries to restrain himself, but still keeps engaging in wrongdoing. Which means he has no principles, and his behavior is therefore unjustifiable.
Applied to the Israeli-Muslim Terrorist conflict, this means that Israel is bad because it only inconsistently kills terrorists. On the other hand the terrorists consistently kill Israelis, which must mean that they’re good. By only killing terrorists sometimes, Israel shows that it doesn’t believe that killing them is ever right. By constantly trying to kill Israelis, the terrorists demonstrate a consistent value system that shows they always believe the are doing the right thing. This seems like madness only because you aren’t a cultural relativist. Which is to say that you believe some things are right and other things are wrong irregardless of who believes them or does them. But if you were a moral idiot, or a cultural relativist (but I repeat myself), you would understand that subjective labels such as right or wrong don’t matter. What matters is that people behave in a way consistent with their cultural imperatives and global context. Which generally means killing people or feeling bad because their ancestors killed all those people, depending on their level of industrial development, infrastructure and average family income. Back when Israel was much more consistent about killing enemy insurgents and terrorists, there was also a general consensus in its favor. In the 50’s, Ariel Sharon snuck into Egypt and blew up an entire village being used as an insurgent base. Today a single targeted assassination of a terrorist results in shrieks of global outrage. The problem here is the “single” and the “targeted” part. The answer is to kill terrorists like you mean it. Not only does consistently doing something result in a better global image, but it also deadens any scandal by turning it into static. Assassinate one terrorist in Dubai and the world is upset. Assassinate ten terrorists a day and the world quickly gets bored a month later after the 300th terrorist. There are only so many headlines reading, “Israel Still Killing Terrorists” that anyone will bother to read. And as a major bonus,
killing enough terrorists tends to put an end to that whole terrorism thing. 3. Victims of Our Own Competence The real problem with Israel is not that it has jets and tanks and nuclear weapons. Most of the Middle East has at least two out of three of those. North Korea has all three. The problem is that Israel works a little too well. What do I mean by that? Israel has working traffic lights, electricity, airlines, police forces and stores filled with things made in the country. Back around 1950 when countries were expected to be able to do things for themselves, this was considered a good thing. But today the anticapitalism paradigm is dominant, which means that any level of competence defines you as a villain. When a reporter goes to Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, he notices that despite all the flaws, things somewhat work. No one generally tries to murder him on the street. The Jewish residents at least, aren’t using donkeys as transportation, no one throws rocks at his head, and sewage isn’t flowing through the street. But when he goes to Ramallah or Gaza, he sees gorgeous villas and classic Mercedes cars, but he also sees dust, dirt and yes raw sewage. Things don’t work, or work only unpredictably. Abused animals are everywhere. Militia gangs prowl the streets. Kids throw rocks. The electricity goes on and off. The doctors occasionally work at the hospital, when they aren’t heading up the local wing of Hamas\Fatah or selling drugs. Naturally he thinks these people must be the victims. The solution is to make Israel appear just as dysfunctional. While the country has its problems, by comparison things do generally work. Now is the time to stop making them work. During a crisis, major cities in Israel should repeatedly lose power. The Knesset will have raucous debates by candlelight. Traffic jams will be orchestrated and donkeys will replace taxis. Raw sewage will spill out in the street and doctors will leave their jobs and do nothing but conduct press conferences denouncing Sweden for making us live this way. Photographers will be invited to take pictures of senior citizens struggling to manually translate Henning Mankell and Iain Banks novels by hand, due to their boycott of Israel. And of children who are receiving inadequate medical care because of being boycotted by British medical journals. And of course there will be people posing buried in rubble due to the boycotts of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the Presbyterian Church and Swedish dock workers. Of course none of this makes any TERRORIST’S page 7

The Franklin Prophecy by NoahDavidSimon (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 11:00:00 PM
here is my ancestor Soloman Isaacs. Solomon Isaacs was related to the most powerful, respected Sephardic families in America through his marriage to Elkalah Kursheedt, granddaughter of Gershom Mendes Seixas, “The Patriot Rabbi,” and his sister Frances’s marriage to the copper magnate Harmon Hendricks. ( Seixas was one of the few clergymen invited to officiate at George Washington’s inauguration and was a trustee of Columbia College.) Apprenticed to his brother-in-law, Isaacs learned all aspects of copper manufacturing, from appraising foreign metals to understanding the processes of refining and rolling. His expertise and ability to supervise engineers and mill hands led to a partnership with Hendricks, who reactivated the defunct Soho Copper Works in New Jersey. Isaacs was entrusted with Hendricks’s longstanding account with Paul Revere& Sons. The firm also supplied Robert Fulton with copper for his pioneering steamboats and the United States Navy with copper sheathing for warships. via thejewishmuseum.org Wthout my family the Revolution would not of had any metal. so my Jewish ancestor was friends with George Washington and Paul Revere. This painting was in my family when I was growing up. Sol here married the granddaughter of the rabbi during the Revolution. …but now my enemies in the Arab world are changing documented U.S. history. BTW… Jewish geneology is well documented. “The Franklin Prophecy”, sometimes called “The Franklin Forgery”, is an antisemitic speech falsely attributed to Benjamin Franklin, warning of the supposed dangers of admitting Jews to the nascent United States. The speech was purportedly transcribed by Charles Cotesworth Pinckney during the Constitutional Convention of 1787, but was unknown before its appearance in 1934 in the pages of William Dudley Pelley’s pro- Nazi weekly magazine Liberation. (Pinckney wrote that he had kept a journal of the Convention, but it has never been found, and Pelley’s claims that it was printed privately, and that the Franklin Institute has a manuscript copy, are unsubstantiated.) Despite having been repeatedly discredited since its first appearance, the “prophecy” has proved a remarkably durable canard, returning most recently as a popular internet hoax promulgated on Usenet groups and antisemitic websites, where it is presented as authentic. On February 18, 1998, a member of the Fatah Central Committee revived this myth
and mistakenly referred to Franklin as a former President of the United States.[1] Osama Bin Laden has even used this canard briefly in his October 2002 “Letter to the American People.”[2] While its author is not known, many who have investigated the “prophecy” suspect Pelley of having penned it himself. The U.S. Congress report AntiSemitism in Europe: Hearing Before the Subcommittee on European Affairs of the Committee on Foreign Relations(2004) states: The Franklin “Prophecy” is a classic anti-Semitic canard that falsely claims that American statesman Benjamin Franklin made anti-Jewish statements during the Constitutional Convention of 1787. It has found widening acceptance in Muslim and Arab media, where it has been used to criticize Israel and Jews…[3]
Franklin was, in fact, a friend to the Jews of 18th-century America,[4] and contributed toward the building of Philadelphia’s first permanent synagogue.[5] There have been similar false antisemitic quotations attributed to George Washington which have been debunked. In fact, in 1790, in a marked sign of religious tolerance, Washington sent a letter to the Jewish community in Rhode Island, writing “May the Children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other Inhabitants; while every one shall sit under his own vine and fig tree, and there shall be none to make him afraid. via en.wikipedia.org here are what jewwatch.com says Benjamin Franklin said about George Washington.
“I fully agree with General Washington, that we mustprotect this young nation from an insidious influence and impenetration. The menace, gentlemen, is the Jews. “In whatever country Jews have settled in any greatnumber, they have lowered its moral tone; depreciated its commercialintegrity; have segregated themselves and have not been assimilated;have sneered at and tried to undermine the Christian religionupon which that nation is founded, by objecting to its restrictions;have built up a state within the state; and when opposed havetried to strangle that country to death financially, as in thecase of Spain and Portugal. “For over 1,700 years, the Jews have FRANKLIN page 5

All Jews wear a Tallit Gadol during their prayers. The Orthodox Jews too wear a Tallit Katan which is worn beneath their outer clothing at all times whenever they are out in public. In Israel there are a large number of beautiful Tallitot which can be bought today on several websites at different price ranges. Spanish senate votes to ban burqa by Marisol (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 8:09:35 PM
Spanish senate votes to ban burqa Following a trend of local burqa bans within the country. “Spain’s Senate Votes to Ban Burqa,” by Raphael Minder for the New York Times, June 23: MADRID — In a significant escalation of Spain’s debate over how to handle radical Islam, the Senate on Wednesday narrowly and unexpectedly approved a motion to ban Muslim women from wearing in public the burqa or other garments that cover the whole body. The vote, 131 to 129, was another setback for the Socialist government of Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, which had favored more-limited restrictions on
Islamic clothing and has instead been pushing to curtail religious fundamentalism through better education. The Spanish vote comes amid several national initiatives across Europe to restrict the spread of radical Islam and defend liberal values. [...] The motion adopted by the senators calls on Spain to outlaw “any usage, custom or discriminatory practice that limits the freedom of women.” It was drafted and led by politicians from the main center-right opposition People’s Party. [...] The Senate’s position also came as a surprise because although Spain has become a major European entry point for Muslim migrants from North Africa, few of those immigrants wear either the burqa or the niqab, which does not cover the eyes. A similar argument has also been made by
opponents of a burqa ban in countries like France, where only an estimated 100,000 women wear the burqa out of a Muslim population of about 5 million. France, however, already passed a law in 2004 to ban head scarves or any other “conspicuous” religious symbol from state schools in order to preserve their secularism. The Spanish government is supposed to follow the Senate’s motion. However, given that Socialist senators opposed the ban, the governing party is likely to seek ways to circumvent the vote…. “Afn beys-oylem” Performed by Lifshe Schaechter-Widman by YiddishMusic (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 9:12:18 PM
Notes by Itzik Gottesman „Afn beys-oylem? (On the Cemetery) is a version of Mikhl Gordon‘s Di shtifmuter(The Stepmother). A complete text of the original in Yiddish can be found in the first volume of Antologye: finf hundert yor yidishe poezye edited by M. Bassin, 1917, pages 167 -169, and Perl fun der yidisher poezye edited by Joseph and Chana Mlotek, 1974, pages 29-31 (A translation of the Mlotek book into English by Barnett Zumoff - Pearls of Yiddish Poetry – was published a couple of months ago). A similar version of this song is in Shmuel-Zanvil Pipe‘s collection „Yiddish Folksongs From Galicia? edited by Dov and Meir Noy and included in the Pipe-volume – Folklore Research Center Studies, volume 2, Jerusalem, 1971. In that text, a verse which names the husband “Avrum” is also sung; so a distinct Galician/Bukovina variant is clear, which is very different from the much longer original (there is no mention of the father‘s name in Gordon‘s text). But as sometimes, or perhaps often happens, the condensed folk-version has much more power and intensity. For other versions see note #9, p. 300, in the Pipe volume. Mikhl Gordon, (Vilna, 1823 – Kiev,
1890) had a wonderful sense of humor (he was author of „Di bord?). However, here he composed a moving, even shocking, portrait of the life of an orphan. Women folksingers had no problem singing this kind of song since it truly reflected the difficult times and hopelessly depressing family situations. Singing it today from a stage is another matter… LSW‘s Performance For more on singer Lifshe Schaechter-Widman (LSW) 18931974 click here. I consider this song the epitome of LSW‘s slow, mournful vocal style brimming with ornamentation. You can also hear the reach and power of her voice, which seems to float, if you will. She clearly flubs the second verse, singing only three out of four lines and does not rhyme the obvious „anider? and „glider?. But she improvises a neat ending to the shortened verse and continues. Notice how she only repeats the last two lines in the final verse, the emotional highpoint of the song. This recording was done by Leybl Kahn in New York City, 1954. Please note that the Yiddish dialect of the singer is more accurately reflected in the transliteration than in the Yiddish text. JStreetJive: J Street, the JCRC and the ADL Present Stephen Lynch, Gaza’s Man in Congress by NoahDavidSimon (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/24/2010 12:25:00 AM

http://friendfeed.com/jstreet Partners in Shame Only the Boston Jewish Community Relations Council could conceive an event honoring Stephen Lynch, Democratic Congressman representing a melange of rough and tumble blue collar voters along with upscale suburbanites. Aside from the obvious in-their-pocket J Street politicians like Keith Ellison, Donna Edwards and Maurice Hinchey, Lynch is probably the most squishy congressman on the terrorist threat to Israel. Recently, Lynch has become so extreme on the subject of Gaza, that he has laid virtually all the blame on Israel for the (phony) “humanitarian” crisis culminating in the Gaza flotilla incident three weeks ago. As a preface to his skewed view of the Gaza situation , he – along with 2 other Massachusetts congressmen – was one of only 36 nay votes that refused to condemn the incredibly biased UN Goldstone Report. On the subject of Israel defense funding, however, he scores relatively high marks. Anyone representing heavily Jewish Needham, would be unelectable were he to oppose defense aid to Israel. The only congressmen consistently voting against funding for Israel are the usual suspects: John Conyers (representing Dearbornistan,
Michigan), Dennis Kucinich (who never saw an Islamic terrorist he couldn’t “understand”), the ever bizarre Ron Paul, and California’s Pete Stark (representing San Francisco’s east bay – enough said?. And so, onto the bimah of Temple Beth Shalom in Needham strode Congressman Lynch sponsored by the JCRC of Greater Boston with its Director, Nancy Kaufman, seated prominently next to him. Lynch has also refused to add his signature to the Poe-Peters letter affirming Israel’s right of self defense in the wake of the Gaza blockade incident. To date, 315 members of Congress have signed the letter. Watch the video of Congressman Lynch press the Palestinian position, blaming the violence that ensued following the flotilla interdiction solely on the Israelis. According to Lynch, Gazans dream of “coming to America” and “freedom”. Strange, every other credible report has Gazans dreaming of destroying Israel and the Jews. I guess Mr. Lynch could only find idealists cast as Jefferson and Madison. He then joins the international chorus by insisting on an “investigation.” Of course, he does not demand an international commission to investigate the Turkish and IHH role in preparing their Shaheeds for
martyrdom. The Q & A portion is audio only (apologies), but suffice it to say that, in spite of the sponsorship of J Street/JCRC, among others, there was significant pushback from the audience, to their credit. Regarding the question about prosecuting U.S. citizens who participate in “humanitarian” missions to Gaza (aid – in virtually any form – to terrorist groups is a felony and was affirmed by a recent Supreme Court decision), Lynch chose not to reply. To this point, in attendance was Jeff Klein, who, in his own words, has “left the Jewish race to join the humans”. He urged Lynch to cease all aid to Israel and is currently spearheading a “Jewish” boat project from Boston to Gaza to break the blockade and make it possible to ship any and all goods into the Hamas weapons depot. Klein may be an extreme case, but the roots of betrayal intertwine at J Street and it would seem, now among Jews in leadership positions. Boston is now vying for number one with San Francisco as one of the worst examples of Jewish steadfastness and honesty. Posted by parrhesia at NormanF said… This is how American Jews pay back Israel: by appearing openly with and endorsing the positions of its adversaries. I don’t think they have truly learned
what history was supposed to have taught them in all the Holocaust museums they constructed. The only lesson appears to be its easy to have sympathy for dead Jews and the living? Well, let’s just say they deserve to ganged upon for not agreeing to be dead, too. Really a shame with J Street and JCRC and the ADL whom you think would get it. They don’t. Rosh Hashanah: An Event Replete in Symbolic Significance by paraisrael (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 11:25:10 PM
by joshbousel Rosh Hashanah: An Event Replete in Symbolic Significance Rosh Hashanah is characterized by several customs, traditions and rituals that bear religious, spiritual, Biblical and even Pagan suggestions and significance. Let us look at the different items used in Rosh Hashanah celebrations and the significance they bear. Shofar: One of the crucial components of the celebration of Rosh Hashanah is the Shofar. It is a musical instrument, quite similar to the trumpet. Shofar is made out of Ram’s horn. The word ‘Shofar’ is linked to the Hebrew word ‘I’shaper’ which means “to beautify”. Thus it symbolically inspires to make our lives more beautiful in the coming year. The significance of using a Ram’s horn can be traced to the story of Abraham who offered his only son, Isaac to God as evidence of his allegiance to Him. God, in return to his willingness to sacrifice everything, caused a ram to appear and be executed in Isaac’s place. Hence, blowing Shofar, made out of
Ram’s horn makes one contemplate on the sacrifices that he is going to make to remain righteous. Challah: This traditional Jewish bread which is round in shape signifies the cyclical nature of the years. Another symbolic significance of the round Challah is that it resembles a crown, a reminder of the kingship of God. Apple: The most characteristic feature of Rosh Hashanah is undeniably, the apple. But even this simple fruit also conveys a symbolic meaning. An apple is an unusual fruit, in the sense that, in an apple tree the fruit appears before the leaves. Therefore, the apple sprouts without the protective cover of its leaves. It symbolically refers to the Jewish people who are willing to live what may seem as defenseless but in reality there is always the faith in God that show the right direction. Honey: Honey used in Rosh Hashanah symbolizes the duality of life. Honey that the bees collect is sweet to taste. Again the sting of the bees can inflict tremendous pain. Life in the same way can be thrust into immense misery but there is always an inherent sweetness and beauty to it. Fish:Fish is the symbol of fertility and knowledge. Fish spawns
copiously, that is why they are seen as a symbol of fertility. Moreover as they never close their eyes, they witness everything, that’s why they also symbolize knowledge. During Rosh Hashanah, the fish is placed on the table in such a way that its head in facing towards the head of the family which is away of saying ‘Thank You’ and to show appreciation for his leadership. Pomegranate: Pomegranate is an essential part of Jewish feats during Rosh Hashanah. A Pomegranate is believed to contain 613 seeds, which is also the exact number of Mitzvah or commandments that the Jewish people are supposed to abide by. A pomegranate on the table of the banquet encourages the people to live life in an honorable and righteous manner. TERRORIST’S continued from page 2
sense. But it doesn’t have to make any sense. The facts don’t matter. The Muslim terrorists proved that already. The point is to create a lot of sympathetic dramatically staged photos and blame someone for them. It might as well be Sweden since they’re spoiling for a fight anyway. This is not about the facts. It’s about making the competent feel guilty for their competence. If Israel is demonized because Fatah and Hamas can’t provide basic services even with billions of dollars in foreign aid, then it’s time for Israel to stop providing basic services. In the anti-capitalist dogma, competence is criminality. A more advanced society is always more wrong than a less advanced one. Clearly the only way to win their sympathy is a race to the bottom. If the lights go out in Gaza, let there be no lights and sewage in Haifa. In Ramallah has open sewage, then Tel Aviv should go back to using donkeys. If Jenin has armed militias riding on donkeys that are swimming in pools of sewage, it’s time to close all the hospitals in the Israel and gather gangs of schoolchildren and start stoning foreign planes. At some point where Israeli
schoolchildren achieve a lower literacy rate than their counterparts in the West Bank. When there is no electricity anywhere in the country, and cold running water only twice a week. When the only forms of transportation in the country are rusting 1960’s classic American cars and mistreated donkeys. When there is no working fire department, but cell phones are everywhere. When you can’t go a hundred feet without hearing the sounds of machine gun fire. And when there is an entire branch of the UN dedicated to feeding and clothing Israelis. Then finally the public relations battle will be won. Because Israel will truly be a failed state– and therefore wholly moral. Only successful states take the blame, because only they are judged as being responsible. Failed states on the other hand are always someone else’s victim. If paradoxically the only way to be a successful state, is to be a failed state– it’s time to start failing upward. Anyone who supports the Muslim terrorist side, and disapproves of the article should ask him or herself, why?“Or we’ll hold our breath until we turn blue”
If censorship, homicidal mania and deliberate dysfunction are effective media relations tools for the poor “Palestinian Arabs” who can hardly walk four steps without claiming citizenship in the great state of victimhood, maybe it’s time their victims got a piece of the action. If the left doesn’t like working countries that don’t throw critics off buildings or constantly try to kill people– then they’re writing a scenario in which those countries will transform themselves into the image of the sort of countries that the left does like. This is only a satirical piece, but all satire has more than a grain of truth to it. If the media left calls democracy, tyranny and tyranny, democracy. Then perhaps the only way for them to recognize a country as a democracy is for it to become a tyranny. If they praise countries that violate civil rights, for their freedom, and damn countries with freedom for violating civil rights– clearly then the only way to the leftist heart is by violating civil rights. By calling good, evil, and evil, good– the left has written this narrative itself with the inkstains of its own moral hypocrisy. It cannot complain about its consequences.

Eye On The World: Reports: IAF Landed at Saudi Base, US Troops near Iran Border by NoahDavidSimon (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 8:55:00 PM
( INN) The Israeli Air Force recently unloaded military equipment at a Saudi Arabia base, a semi-official Iranian news agency claimed Wednesday, while a large American force has massed in Azerbaijan, which is on the northwest border of Iran. Both reports follow by less than a week the Pentagon’s confirmation that an unusually large American fleet sailed through the Suez Canal Saturday. Several reports stated that an Israeli ship joined the armada. The Pentagon played down the news, saying the American maneuvers were routine. However, a report by Iran on Wednesday that it has enriched dozens of pounds of 17 per cent enriched uranium serves as a reminder that time is running out to stop Iran from being able to produce a nuclear weapon. Iran’s Fars News Agency said the
Israeli military aircraft landed 10 days ago at the Saudi base near the city of Tabuk, located in northwest Saudi Arabia, one of the closest areas in the oil kingdom to Iran. Fars said that the Tabuk base will be the central station for an Israeli attack on Iran. It quoted an Islamic news site that a commercial airline passenger said the airport in Tabuk was closed to all other traffic during the alleged Israeli landings. The passenger said that “no reasonable explanation” was given for shutting down the airport and those passengers were compensated financially and booked in four-star hotels. “The relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel have become the talk of the town,” the passenger added. The chief authority in Tabuk, Prince Fahd ben Sultan, was reported be coordinating the cooperation with Israel. Azerbaijan Iran’s government-funded Press TV reported that the Revolutionary Guards began closely patrolling the Islamic Republic’s northwestern
border after noticing the American forces, which Iran claimed also included Israeli troops. Azerbaijan’s independent Trend news site also reported on Wednesday that American armed forces are in the country, which is in an armed conflict with rebels. Revolutionary Guards Brigadier General Mehdi Moini said Tuesday that his forces are mobilized “due to the presence of American and Israeli forces on the western border.” The Guards reportedly have called in tanks and anti-aircraft units to the area in what amounts to a war alert. via eye-on-the-world.blogspot.com Israel Air Force aircraft have been spotted in recent days at a Saudi Arabian military base unloading military equipment in the city of Tabuk, in northwestern Saudi Arabia, according to a report from Iranian news agency FARS. The base will reportedly be used as a forward operating base by the Israelis as part of an offensive on an Islamic country. Posted via email from noahdavidsimon’s posterous

Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu by NoahDavidSimon (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel)

First the Green Revolution in Iran turned out to be run by a man who was as bad as the established regime and now Turkey supposedly has a resurfacing opposition to the Islamists, Turks Turn on Islamist Government? Gaza flotilla backfires at home. BY Adam Brickley weeklystandard.com Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu is probably the happiest man in Turkey right now. He’s just inherited the leadership of the country’s secular socialist opposition, and now he’s reaping the benefits of an incredibly boneheaded move by the “moderate” Islamists who run the country. A recently released poll shows the governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan slipping out of first place for the first time in years. Instead, K?l?çdaro?lu’s Republican People’s Party (CHP) has inched to a razor-thin lead. If these numbers were to hold through next year’s election, the AKP’s Sunni Islamism will be dealt a heavy repudiation — as K?l?çdaro?lu is a member of the minority Alevi religious sect. He could also be Turkey’s first Kurdish Prime Minister — depending on whether or not one considers his Zaza ethnicity to be a Kurdish subgroup or a separate people (either way he’s not an ethnic Turk). Now, this success is partly due to the fact that K?l?çdaro?lu is enjoying a

surge of personal popularity as he tries to modernize the party founded by Kemal Ataturk. However, it also appears that Erdogan’s heavy support of the Gaza “aid” flotilla has blown up in his face — and that his gradual Islamization of the government may have reached a point where the public is ready to pull the plug. To be fair, K?l?çdaro?lu has joined Erdogan in heavily condemning the Israeli raid on the flotilla — but he has also blasted Erdogan for needlessly provoking Israel. So, now that the prime minister has marched into a full-blown religious confrontation with the Jewish state, the electorate is opting for a more fair -minded leader who concerns himself with national interest over religious zealotry. Israel launches new spy satellite to watch Iran by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 8:15:00 PM
Israel launches new spy satellite to watch Iran On Tuesday night, Israel launched a new spy satellite, the Ofek 9. The Ofek 9 is to be used mainly to keep an eye on Iran. The Defense Ministry issued a statement saying the satellite was launched late Tuesday from the Palmachim air force base on Israel’s coast south of Tel Aviv. An hour later, after the satellite completed its first circuit, the ministry said it had achieved its proper orbit, describing it as “a surveillance satellite with advanced technological capabilities.” Defense officials said Ofek 9 is a spy satellite with a high resolution
camera. It would join two other active spy satellites in the Ofek series already orbiting the earth. The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because details were not made public, said the three satellites would give Israel considerable coverage of sensitive areas. Addition of a new satellite gives Israel the capability of sending spaceborne cameras over sensitive areas more frequently. One of Israel’s main targets for spy photos is Iran, because of its nuclear program. the Netanyahu government is behaving like a banana republic in acceding to the demands of the Obama administration, and that this behavior is not helping Israel’s image elsewhere. Now that the Obama administration has decided to raise the profile of the differences of opinion that existed for many years, Israel giving in to Washington’s demands may momentarily assuage tempers in Washington. But the emphasis is on momentarily. Additional demands will be coming, and if they are not accommodated the situation may worsen. In Jonathan Alter’s book “The Promise” on Obama’s first year in the White House, Obama is quoted as saying: “I know how to handle Netanyahu.” And after a year of dealing with him, Obama probably gives himself a good score on this subject. Has the government’s policy of giving in to Washington’s demands strengthened the relationship between the two nations? It certainly does not seem that way at the moment. And what if the Israeli government had stuck by its positions – would that
have resulted in a crisis? Or by sticking to its principles when vital Israeli interests were at stake, would the Israeli leadership have gained respect in Washington? The jury is still out on this question. But it is clear that Israeli subservience to American demands does not strengthen Israel’s image in the eyes of its enemies and in the capitals of Europe and Asia. The net result of this Israeli policy in recent years is negative. Add to that, and not least important, how Israelis feel about themselves in light of this subservience. After having attained independence at great sacrifice, and having gotten used to a democratically elected leadership determining the nation’s course of action, it is a blow to our self-esteem to see our leaders obeying orders that come from abroad. One cannot escape the feeling that Israel is the only country in the world that does not know how to say no to Obama. Forget about former enemies like Russia, China and Iran. Look at how many allies say no to Obama. Turkey. HONDURAS (which said no for months and eventually won).

Back to the future? Israel setting itself up to be accused of expelling ‘Palestinians’ from their homes by Carl in Jerusalem (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 10:08:00 PM
Back to the future? Israel setting itself up to be accused of expelling ‘Palestinians’ from their homes The IDF has decided to change its military doctrine in Gaza to allow for the ‘ evacuation’ of entire ‘Palestinian’ villages and ‘refugee camps’ as an opening gambit. Ahead of a potential new conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the IDF has drawn up plans to evacuate entire Palestinian villages and refugee camps from areas of conflict in the event of an Israeli incursion, The Jerusalem Post has learned. During Operation Cast Lead, in the winter of 2008/2009, the IDF dropped millions of flyers over areas it planned to invade and made over a quarter of a million phone calls to private homes and mobile phones warning people to leave. … According to the new operational doctrine for the Gaza Strip, ahead of
an invasion of the Jabalya refugee camp in a large-scale operation, for example, the IDF would give prior notification to residents and designate an amount of time they would be given to leave. The IDF would also enter potential conflict zones more slowly to permit residents to evacuate the area. This is not a great idea. First, it
opens the IDF up to accusations that it expelled ‘Palestinians’ from their homes as happened in 1948. Second, it forfeits whatever element of surprise the IDF might have otherwise had. And third, it implies that IDF soldiers will be on the ground during the ‘evacuation,’ exposing them to danger during a time when military operations are not
yet taking place. By the way, I think the picture at the top is photo-shopped. Seattle Conference: Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis and the Failure of U.S. Policy by Richard Silverstein (Hija del Zion para Israel - Daughter of Zion for Israel) Submitted at 6/23/2010 10:48:13 PM
I am organizing a conference this week here in Seattle that will focus on all the issues surrounding the Gaza flotilla attack and siege, as they relate to U.S. policy and its magnificent failure (so far). I’ve joined together with SABEEL of Puget Sound to produce the event. We’ll have Prof. Steve Nivas of Evergreen College, who will speak to U.S. policy towards Gaza and Hamas. I will address the current meltdown within Israel of its democratic values and how this impacts the possibility for progress on the peace front. Dave Schermerhorn was a passenger on and survivor of the Mavi Marmara
attack and he will speak about his experience. Finally, Hazim Shafi, who lives and works here in the Seattle area will speak about current reality in Gaza on the ground. His father and brother have lived there for some time and Hazim’s larger family hails from there, though many have left since conditions worsened substantially over the past few years. Hazim’s uncle, Haider Abdul Shafi was a senior PLO negotiator at the Madrid conference. If you live in or near Seattle or know people who do, please join us for an informative evening dealing with an especially nettlesome U.S. foreign policy issue. Other co-sponsors include Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility and American Friends Service Committee.
