Installing a concrete swimming pool inside your house always seems like a fun idea. It is a great way to get some exercise, to unwind at the end of the day, laze around in during summer, and have a recreational outlet when there is very little to do on boring days. However, owning a swimming pool comes with a lot of responsibility, as there are always risks regarding injury and hygiene safety. When you are putting up safety measures around your concrete swimming pool always keep traction in mind. Even the most porous concrete surfaces can become hopelessly slippery around water, and as most people opt for decorative concrete, which is fashioned out of color hardener, or sealer, they increase the risk of slipping around the pool, as water has a tendency to gather up the top of such surfaces. You can improve the traction of your swimming pool deck surfaces without having to sacrifice the beauty of your decorations, by using textured or exposed aggregate finishes on the side of your pool, putting in a gritty textured overlay, or by simply adding a clear plastic grit to your sealer prior to application. Research gathered from Consumer Product Safety Commission shows that around three hundred children under the age of five drown every year in residential swimming pools due to the lack of preventive measures around the pools. The disturbing statistics also showed that around two thousand children end up in emergency rooms because of pool related accidents. You can prevent this from happening to you by installing a protective barrier, or a high fence around the pool which would prevent children from entering the swimming area without your supervision. You should consider the placement of the barrier from the moment you install a pool, as it is equally important in terms of safety, preventing break-ins as well. You can discuss the layout of the barrier with the architect, so that you can have the fence installed in a fashionable and decorative way, which serves the purpose of safety, and looks good as well. Most Safety Barrier guidelines for home pools advise you to keep the top of your pool barrier four feet above grade, and to limit your maximum clearance limit from the bottom, so that it does not exceed above four inches from the ground level. It is essential that you check the pool regularly for the chlorine balance in the water to avoid eye and skin irritations; so that everyone can use your swimming pool for the reason it was built forenjoyment rather than a cause for worry!
