Many joined the movement because they also believed farm workers deserved better working conditions and better pay.
The movement was so powerful it even gained American supporters that went against other Americans because they believed in Cesar Chavez word on how farm workers deserve more.
Cesar Chavez GetTogethers
● On September 8,1965 Cesar Chavez started a strike for Grape workers which was organized by the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee. Dolores Huerta helped by including her negotiation skills to add on to Chavez advocacy, with the additional help of the Filipino-American organizer.
● This led to several victories for the farmworks and them signing a contract with the union.
● “The strike ended July 29, 1970, when California grape growers signed a union contract with the newly formed United Farm Workers guaranteeing Delano’s farmworkers better pay, worker protections and benefits.”

Cesar Chavez Strategies
● Cesar Chavez urged strikers to resist violence because it would allow the public to see that all they wanted was fair trade and treatment.
● He did not believe that violence had much outcome, he believed the only outcome that came from violence was more brutal violence. To Cesar Chavez non-violence was a winning strategy, it only helped encourage violence
● “Violence just hurts those who are already hurt … Instead of exposing the brutality of the oppressor, it justifies it … We can turn the world if we can do it non-violently,” Cesar said.

The chicano movement shows how powerful protesting without violence is. Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta and supporters in this movement helped reinforce this .should people really have to put up with police brutality while trying to get back what was supposedly granted to us at birth freedom?
