proto[Typist] Keyboards is a bespoke keyboard retailer founded in 2019 by Jae Flynn, specialising in high-end, custom keyboards targeted at coders, developers, writers and gamers. The business started as a side project, quickly turning into a fulltime venture due to its success and demand. At the time Jae had a full-time job and was interested in keyboards as he wanted a “nice tool to do my job with.” Says Jae. After buying some of the high-end keyboards, he believed that he could do something better himself, and after some research and prototyping, their first keyboard went on sale. proto[Typist] Keyboards sold around 300 in 30 seconds and from thereon it’s been Jae’s full time job as he develops more products and offerings.

Based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, proto[Typist] employs five people and collaborates annually with numerous designers and manufacturers globally.

Exclusive Mimaki distributor, Hybrid Services, has appointed Rob Kaziewicz in the newly created role of Assistant Technical Manager, as it further strengthens its Technical Services team.

Kaziewicz joins the company with over 30 years’ experience in the wide format printing industry, having held senior positions at reseller and distributor level, as well as being one of the founders of former Mimaki authorised reseller partner, GPT, in 2008.

“Rob’s appointment is a key strategical move for Hybrid, and his decades of customer-facing, technical Mimaki experience will be a major asset to our business,” states Hybrid’s Technical Manager, Chris Adams. “He brings a huge amount of knowhow in the wide format industry and will be heavily involved in every aspect of our support function, including engineer and sales training, customer support and liaising with our reseller partners and Mimaki’s technical teams.”

MIMAKI EUROPE ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR

Mimaki Europe, a leading manufacturer of inkjet printers and cutting technologies, has announced the appointment of Takao Terashima as the new Managing Director.

Starting his career in Mimaki in 1997 as part of the R&D Department, Terashima has developed his extensive expertise in Mimaki’s technology portfolio and the surrounding market over the past 26 years. Throughout his time at the company, he has taken up various senior positions across the company. Prior to this new role, he was Senior General Manager of the Asia Oceania Business Unit, a position he first started in 2017. Before this, he spent six months as Senior Deputy General Manager of Quality Management between April and October 2017.

Terashima’s career path has led him

to work beyond Mimaki’s headquarters in Japan, in positions across Mimaki’s branches. He spent four years as Managing Director of Mimaki Singapore between 2013 and 2017, and he also worked at Mimaki USA early in his career as part of the technical support staff.

Succeeding Takahiro Hiraki as Managing Director of Mimaki Europe, Terashima will bring his industry expertise, analytical thinking, business and team-building skills, as well as his extensive company knowledge, to this new role.
