THE IMPORTANCE OF CORPORATE AWARDS: Recognising Excellence in the Business World
The Benefits of Corporate Awards
In today’s highly competitive business environment, companies are continuously striving to outperform their rivals and distinguish themselves in the eyes of stakeholders. While achieving high sales, fostering innovation, and maintaining strong customer relationships are critical to business success, there’s another vital factor that is increasingly gaining attention: Corporate Awards. These accolades serve as recognition of a company's achievements, reinforcing its reputation, and highlighting its contributions to the industry. But what exactly are Corporate Awards, and why are they so important?
Corporate Awards are honours or recognitions given to companies, teams, or individuals for outstanding achievements in various fields, such as business performance, innovation, sustainability, customer service, leadership, and workplace culture. These awards can be presented by industry associations, trade groups, media outlets, or independent organisations.
Building Reputation and Credibility
One of the most significant benefits of receiving a corporate award is the enhancement of a company's reputation. Awards signal to customers, investors, and partners that a business is a leader in its field, setting it apart from competitors. Recognition from reputable third-party organisations lends credibility, demonstrating that the company meets high standards of excellence.
Boosting Employee Morale and Engagement
Corporate awards do more than just enhance external reputation; they also have a powerful impact internally. Employees who see their company being recognised for its achievements feel a sense of pride and belonging, which can boost morale. Moreover, when employees are directly involved in winning awards, such as through team achievements or individual accolades, they feel valued and motivated to maintain or exceed their performance levels.
Attracting and Retaining Talent
An organisation that consistently wins awards is often seen as a desirable place to work. Recognition for having a great

workplace culture, for instance, can attract top talent who seek a positive work environment. Additionally, employees who are part of an award-winning company are more likely to stay, knowing they are associated with a respected brand that acknowledges and rewards success.
Enhancing Customer Trust and Loyalty
Awards can play a crucial role in attracting and retaining customers. When consumers are faced with multiple choices, they are more likely to trust a company that has been recognised for its quality products, services, or ethical business practices. Awards function as a form of social proof, assuring customers that they are making the right decision by choosing a particular company over its competitors.
Increasing Market Visibility and Competitive Edge
Winning a corporate award often results in media coverage, which can significantly boost a company's visibility in the marketplace. This recognition can help attract new customers, partners, and investors who might not have been aware of the company previously. Moreover, an award provides a competitive edge, positioning the company as an industry leader and a benchmark for quality.
Encouraging Continuous Improvement
The pursuit of awards encourages companies to continuously improve their processes, products, and services. To remain competitive, organisations often set high standards and implement best practices, knowing that these efforts could lead to future recognition. This creates a culture of excellence and a commitment to ongoing development, ultimately driving innovation and growth.
Types of Corporate Awards
Corporate awards come in various forms, each recognising different aspects of business excellence:
Industry-Specific Awards: These awards focus on achievements within a specific industry, such as technology, healthcare, or finance.
Innovation Awards: Aimed at recognising companies that demonstrate creative solutions, new product development,
or technological advancements.
Sustainability Awards: Given to companies that show exceptional commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and sustainable business practices.
Workplace Awards: These awards acknowledge companies with outstanding workplace cultures, employee engagement, and leadership practices.
Customer Service Awards: Recognitions for companies that excel in delivering exceptional customer service experiences.
What materials can corporate awards be made from?
Corporate awards can be made from a variety of materials, each offering a distinct look, feel, and level of prestige.
The choice of material often depends on the purpose of the award, the budget, the image the awarding entity wishes to project, and the preferences of the recipients. Here are some common materials used for corporate awards:
Crystal
Characteristics: Crystal awards are highly regarded for their elegance, clarity, and light-reflecting properties. They are often heavy and have a high-quality feel, which adds a sense of importance and prestige.
Uses: Crystal is frequently used for high-level awards, such as those given for executive achievements, lifetime accomplishments, or prestigious industry recognitions.
Customisation: Crystal awards can be laser-etched with logos, names, and messages, and they are available in various shapes and sizes, including cubes, pyramids, or custom designs.
Glass
Characteristics: Glass awards offer a similar aesthetic to crystal but are typically lighter and less expensive. They can be transparent, coloured, or frosted.
Uses: Suitable for a wide range of awards, from employee recognition to sales achievements, glass awards provide a polished and professional appearance.

Characteristics: Some corporate awards combine multiple materials, such as crystal and metal, wood and acrylic, or glass and stone. This allows for more creative and unique designs.
Uses: Mixed-media awards are often used to convey a specific message or theme, such as a combination of tradition (wood) and innovation (metal) or transparency (glass) and stability (stone).
Customisation: The combination of different materials allows for a wide range of customisation options, including different finishes, textures, and colours.
Recycled Materials
Characteristics: Awards made from recycled or eco-friendly materials reflect a company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Uses: Commonly used by organisations that prioritise sustainability or want to promote green initiatives, such as environmental awards or CSR recognitions.
Customisation: These awards can be made from recycled glass, metal, or reclaimed wood, and they can be designed and customised in various ways to suit the award’s theme.
The choice of material for a corporate award plays a significant role in conveying the award's importance, aligning with the values of both the awarding organisation and the recipient, and creating a memorable and cherished keepsake.
Whether aiming for elegance, durability, sustainability, or a modern look, there is a wide range of materials to choose from, each offering unique qualities that can enhance the meaning and significance of the award.
Conclusion
Corporate awards are more than just trophies or plaques; they are powerful tools that can enhance a company’s reputation, motivate employees, attract talent, and increase customer trust. In a crowded marketplace, these awards help companies stand out by showcasing their commitment to excellence. By strategically pursuing and leveraging corporate awards, businesses can create a virtuous cycle of recognition, growth, and success.

HOW TO SPEED UP YOUR EMBROIDERY PRODUCTION!
Consumables
As this months edition of TEN lands on your desk or online, if you are one of the many embroiders working towards a bumper gift season you will already have seen an increase in business but will have your busiest days of the year ahead of you.
To achieve maximum output to meet your customers orders, and to keep ahead of the delivery crisis we may be facing due to threatened strikes from Royal Mail and others, speed and efficiency of production is all important. And it’s great to keep your stress levels down too!!
Here are some ideas on what you can do to help yourself, your production, and your customers.
Test ahead of production
This for me is the key to trouble free production. You may be trying new products to offer your customers, different threads to achieve metallic Christmas finishes, newly digitised designs, and text to vary your range. Make sure you have test run the designs on the new products. For example, special effect threads generally need to run slower on products than standard colours. By testing in advance, you will have your production slick and effective for when you get busy.
Make sure you are working with the best possible consumables to make your embroidery run as well as it can. If you are new to embroidery, you may not be aware how many different backings are available. Experienced embroidery companies will stock several backings, cutaway, tearaway, light weight etc.
Aqua-film is a great product to improve the quality of your embroidery onto knitwear, fleece, towelling and fluffy toys. It acts to flatten the face of the fabric that the embroidery is going onto and is water soluble so just comes away with a damp cloth.
Don’t save pennies buying cheaper bobbins and job lot threads as they can result in you suffering from more thread breaks and therefore more down time. Be aware that some compositions, rayon for example, can be environment affected, so storing your threads in a damp cold environment may give you problems as your machine runs.
Needles are another big one – when you are busy and need uninterrupted production. Consider changing your needles more regularly than maybe you usually would. At times like this being frugal can be a false economy.
Framing devices
Accessories that help you frame products quickly and easily are something you can buy additional to your standard embroidery frames. These help you frame quicker, and more accurately which will result in the best quality embroidery with less damage and waste.
Top of my list are the magnetic hoops which need no adjustment and take the strain out of framing. Great for heavier fabrics and for larger areas of embroidery like jacket backs and dressing gowns, they come in the standard sizes and are square and rectangular for convenience.
Two other products I highly recommend are the Fast Clamp and Fast Frame
system. The Fast Frame system allows you to embroidery in those tight spots. This system uses a sticky backing on the underside of the frame on which you would hold the product in place.
Fast frames are ideal for sewing on to sweatbands, back of caps, sleeves, dog collars, gym bags, and on the front of the zippie toys, designed especially for embroidery. The Fast Clamp is an adjustable product and comes with 3 sets of different sized arms. In my opinion it’s easier to use than the fast frame system as you don’t need the sticky backing and is great for churning out embroidery on all difficult to frame items, ideal if you are offering personalised Christmas stockings.
Whilst the Fast Clamp is a Melco specific product, the Fast Frame works with other machine brands, and I am sure your machine supplier will have similar solutions for framing. Ask them for help and advice.
Machine Maintenance and Servicing
My last point is an obvious one, but sometimes we all need the obvious pointed out. At Amaya we sell the Melco modular embroidery machines, and these automatically prompt you to service your machine as you go along. However, don’t ignore those niggly problems that you have been working around all year. If you have been experiencing thread breaks, poor stitching, inconsistent embroidery, speak to your machine provider and investigate these problems now, and if necessary, book a service visit.
So, to sum up the key message here to smooth, efficient, and fast production when you need it is testing, preparation and sensible spending. Investing in new devices, service & better-quality consumables will reward you with more production and less stress.
If there is anything we can help with, please contact the Amaya team. Call +44(0) 2392 590 281 or email sales@amayauk.com

GEKA - THE LATEST EXHIBITOR TO JOIN EURO TROPHEX 2025
History of GEKA
It all began in 1993, when Gūrij Bulle, now Chairman of the Board at GEKA, was tasked with organising another round of the European Autocross Championship at the "Mūsa" sports complex. Each year, the challenge of sourcing appropriate awards arose—at the time, only wooden cups were made in Latvia, and such a national style was unsuitable for an event of European importance. On a drive to Germany, where a friend had spotted a sports trophy shop, Bulle had an idea: why not venture into the trophy business himself? The need for better award options at sporting events was clear.
In 1996, borrowing 200 LVL from his mother and adding 100 LVL of his own savings, Gūrij set off in his silver Opel Omega toward Finland. Negotiating in broken English, he managed to secure a small shipment of trophies. His car, packed to the brim, he returned home, and within two weeks, the entire stock was sold. The first trophies were stored in his house’s garage, which was kept warm with electric heaters during the winter to prevent the metal from rusting. The garage doubled as both a storage space and a showroom for customers, which worked fine in the early days.
As the business grew and more customers came on board, the family home transformed into a workspace. TEN MAGAZINE TALKS TO KREATIVE IDEAS
Kreative Ideas is focused on creating eco-friendly trophies, medals, and awards, led by Carlos Freitas.
TEN magazine learns more about Kreative Ideas in the following interview with Carlos.
What does Kreative Ideas do and how did the idea come about?
Kreative Ideas creates trophies, medals, and awards tailored to each event through a 100% ecological and sustainable approach.
The idea emerged with the purpose of combining the art of personalisation with the act of honouring, using a process based on the use of sustainable and eco-friendly materials, all sourced from Portugal.
What are the preferred materials you use?
The materials we preferentially use are cork and wood and their derivatives.
In customising trophies and medals, we prioritise ecological finishes, employing laser engraving and UV digital printing. We primarily choose materials and finishes that are the most sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Which type of product is in higher demand?
Trophies and medals produced in wood or cork are the most sought-after products because they meet the needs of discerning customers who value attention to detail, conscious purchasing, and seek more ecological and sustainable alternatives.
Companies, event organisers, and consumers are more attentive and sensitive, and when it comes to rewarding or honouring, they increasingly seek products manufactured with more ecological and sustainable materials and finishes.
Who is your typical customer, and what do they value most in what you offer?
Our typical customers are mainly sports event organisers and companies. They seek to make a positive impact, honour and reward the best athletes, employees,
clients, and partners.
What our customers value most in the product we offer is the opportunity to create a distinct identity, a unique, personalised piece for each trophy, medal, or award through an ecological and sustainable approach.
You are a 100% Portuguese brand. How do you identify ideal partners?
We primarily seek partners who align with the same value proposition, sharing our values of transparency, commitment, and sustainability. We prioritise certified suppliers with the necessary guarantees of the sustainability of their raw materials.
Kreative Ideas: Where Artistry Meets Eco-Friendly Craftsmanship
TEN Magazine can see that Kreative Ideas stands at the forefront of combining artistry with sustainability, offering customised trophies, medals, and awards that not only honour achievements but also reflect a commitment to the environment. By using eco-friendly materials like cork and wood, and employing sustainable techniques such as laser engraving and UV printing, they provide discerning customers with products that embody conscious craftsmanship. As a 100% Portuguese brand, Kreative Ideas is dedicated to partnering with like-minded businesses that share their values of transparency, commitment, and sustainability, ensuring that every creation leaves a positive impact on both people and the planet.
Kreative Ideas will be showcasing their products and services at your next leading trade event - Euro Trophex. Come and meet the team on Stand B23 on 1st & 2nd February 2025.

PET BOOM IN 2024:
A Boon for Trophy, Engraving, Awards, and Personalisation Retail Sector
As of 2024, pet ownership in the UK continues to flourish, with over half of the population owning a pet. The pandemic sparked a surge in pet ownership, and the trend has held strong. According to the latest data, more than 24 million cats and dogs live in UK households. Since the start of the pandemic, 3.5 million households have welcomed a new pet, with an estimated 10% of non-pet-owning homes planning to acquire one in the near future.
Leading pet care brand Bob Martin reports that demand for pets skyrocketed during lockdown, with online searches for pet purchases and adoptions reaching record highs.
Personalised pet products from pet clothing to toy boxes have become increasingly popular with pet owners
The UK pet care market has expanded to a staggering £8 billion in 2024, with dog food alone now worth over £1.5 billion annually. Pets are undeniably considered family, and their owners are willing to invest in their care and comfort.
Opportunities for the Trophy, Engraving, Awards, and Personalisation Industry
The growing pet population presents a lucrative opportunity for the trophy and engraving sector. As the number of pet owners increases, so does the demand for personalised products, awards, and other bespoke items catering to pets and their owners. Retailers in this industry can benefit from offering products and services tailored to the pet market, enhancing customer loyalty and driving sales.
According to Aurelie Gayraud, Senior Brand Manager at Bob Martin, “Retailers that embrace the pet category trend and meet the increasing consumer demand will find themselves in a prime position to boost sales, particularly by catering to the UK’s expanding base of dog and cat lovers.”
The Spending Power of Pet Owners
In 2024, UK dog owners spend an average of £120 per year on gifts for their pets, in addition to regular expenses like collars,
name tags, bowls, bedding, and toys. The market for personalised pet products has never been stronger, and the possibilities are vast—from customised collars to engraved pet tags and even personalised pet clothing. Now is the time for retailers to diversify their offerings and capitalise on the pet boom.
Trophies, Awards, and Medals
As pet ownership rises, so too does the need for pet-related services, such as training, socialising, and competitions. Dog training classes, flyball races, agility competitions, and other group activities are increasing in popularity, creating a demand for trophies, awards, and medals. Retailers can seize this opportunity by offering a wide range of recognition products—from large trophies for competition winners to medals for achievements at local pet clubs.
Personalised Products for Pets
Pets are considered family members, and owners are eager to spoil them with personalised products. Personalised pet tags, engraved collars, and custom-printed bowls, beds, and clothing are in high demand. The legal requirement that dogs must wear a collar displaying the owner's contact details while in public

Professional & a ordable laser cutting, marking and engraving solutions
means engraved tags are essential, creating a consistent demand for engraving services.
Beyond practical items, there’s a market for pet memorial products, such as engraved photo frames and plaques. Offering personalised keepsakes allows retailers to cater to the emotional connection owners have with their pets, whether in life or after they pass.
Personalisation Processes: Laser Engraving and Printing
To meet the growing demand for personalised pet products, retailers can consider investing in engraving and printing
equipment. These processes add value to standard items and can significantly increase revenue.
Laser Engraving
Laser engraving uses high heat to vaporise the material, creating a permanent mark that is visible and tactile. This process is ideal for engraving pet tags, collars, and plaques. Retailers can purchase laser engraving machines at various price points, making it accessible for businesses of all sizes.
Printing Techniques: Sublimation and Heat Transfer
For personalisation through printing, sublimation and heat transfer are popular options.
Sublimation Printing embeds ink directly into the material, producing high-quality, durable prints on fabrics, ceramics, and other items. This method is perfect for customising pet accessories, such as beds, blankets, and bowls.
Heat Transfer Printing involves transferring designs from paper onto items like t-shirts, mugs, and mouse pads using heat and pressure. This method is affordable and versatile, making it a great option for small-scale customisation.
Seizing the Moment
As the pet industry continues to grow, now is the time for trophy, engraving, awards, and personalisation retailers to expand their product offerings and enter the lucrative pet market. With personalised products and recognition items in high demand, businesses that act quickly can gain a competitive edge and position themselves as go-to destinations for pet lovers across the UK.

LASERPRO LASER CUTTERS, ENGRAVERS AND MARKING MACHINES FROM GRAFITYP
Professional Lasers for Education and Industry
Enhance your business with GCC LaserPro Laser Engravers, Cutters, and Marking Machines. Grafityp lasers are renowned worldwide for their High Quality, Reliability, and User Safety.
Understanding C02 Laser Engraving Machines
What is a C02 laser engraving machine?
Laser cutting works by directing the output power from a metal Co2 Laser or glass C02 lasertube. A beam is deflected via a series of mirrors and focused through a lens on to the material to be cut or engraved. Tweaking the laser driver by decreasing the power of the C02 laser beam and speeding up the carrage the machine will engrave the most complex of designs on to many surfaces eg. Marble (High power, slow carriage speed) or something as delicate as rose petal. (Low power, high carriage speed)
How safe is it to use a laser engraver?
LaserPro Laser Engravers are certificated and tested by CE and FCC for laser and electronic operation safety. In addition, the GCC LaserPro Engraving system achieves CDRH (Center for Devices and Radiological Health) IIIA safety criteria.
What kind of materials can a GCC LaserPro laser engraving machine cut or engrave?
Acrylic, Anodized Aluminum / Meta, Bamboo, Carbide, Cardboard, Ceramics, Composites, Cork, Crystal, Coated Metal, Textile, Fiberglass, Foam, Glass, Kevlar, Laminate, Plastic, Leather, Marble, Board, Melamine, Nylon, Paper, Plastic, Polyester, Card, Pressboard, Rubber, Silicon, Stone, Veneer, Wood & lots more.
What is the life cycle of the LaserPro C02 metal tube?
Average life is 20,000 - 35,000 hours of use. That amounts to 8 hours a day at 100% power, 7 days a week, for 7 years if the tube only lasts for 20,000 hours. GCC uses laser tubes manufactured by both Coherent/Deos of Santa Clara, CA and Synrad of Mukilteo, WA. In addition to Grafityp’s trust and faith in the reliability of the tubes they utilise in their LaserPro line of laser engravers/cutters they also offer the industry’s longest warranty: A full 18 months on the laser tube.
Can the laser tube be refilled/ recharged?
YES. Once the laser tube has reached the end of its useful life, a gas recharge and system overall by the manufacturer will restore the laser to full power. Once serviced the tube should be good for years more service.
GCC Laser machines offer a range of CO2, Fiber, and Galvo laser machines with various power options to suit your budget and manufacturing requirements. Whether you’re in the education sector or an industry professional, Grafityp’s lasers cater to your needs.

DIGITAL PRINTING – 2024
TheMagicTouch continue to offer affordable digital print solutions for the personalisation and decoration of garments and promotional items. As one of the original UK pioneers of the DTF technology the company has seen this innovation capture the attention of many volume garment decorators.
However, for those potential DTF users who do not have the space, capital, or daily demand for transfers the best and most reliable solution is to consider using the established digital white-toner transfers which are perfect for the low-volume and ad-hoc user.
The proven white-toner technology enables users to experience and understand the growing market for personalisation. The 2-Step DTF process involves printing the PET film in the printer and replacing the adhesive powder and oven curing process by using a "toner booster" sheet and
traditional heat press. The feel and durability of the transfer for garments is outstanding. The TMT/OKI A3 printer includes 3-year on-site warranty and is compatible with all ten different transfer papers each offering unique and niche opportunities. Plus, there are no print heads that will need to be replaced! Having the ability to decorate hundreds of products, using ten different transfer papers, with one printer, makes it the most versatile option for the widest range of product applications.
The company also offer a comprehensive range of image transfer solutions including
all aspects of toner transfer, garment flex and HTV, sublimation, printable consumables, heat press equipment, and technical support.
