Opening of New Facilities in 2015 Celebrating 120 years with the acquisition of new space, our new facility is undergoing a complete renovation. When we open our 5,500 square foot space later this year, we will present exceptional work by women to collectors, curators, editors, agents, publishers, and the public.

By creating a vetting system that is comprised of a diverse body of outside arts professionals, Pen and Brush is calling on industry influencers to review work created by women and make selections based solely on merit of the work for public presentation through P+B’s exhibition platforms. Pen and Brush also facilitates exposure to a professional pipeline of curators who, it is hoped, will become supporters and advocates for those artists’ works. The program is both

democratic and transparent. It is democratic because all women artists who submit professional work have equal opportunity based on merit to have their work selected by any one of a diverse and constantly refreshed pool of selection reviewers, i.e. visual arts curators. The process is transparent in that all works submitted are viewed by all curators in place at the time. As any one of them may select work for exhibition in P+B's opportunities, any individual artist has the same opportunity as all others. There is no pre-determined number of works or dates for exhibition, and works are not judged against each other. Their selections will constitute P+B’s programming: group and feature exhibitions.

Group Shows and Feature Exhibitions Pen and Brush remains committed to the group exhibition as a forceful means of dispelling the misconception that too few women produce consistently high level artwork. The group show model also provides exposure to the public for the largest number of artists. Group Show selections from all reviewers constitute the pool of eligible work for the group show(s) and selections will be assembled based on the number of available works, space, and P+B’s exhibition schedule. Pen and Brush staff will facilitate the exhibition of the works. Read More
