LAMBING FLAT CHINESE TRIBUTE GARDEN
Lambing Flat Folk Museum - household textiles, a war and historic photographic collection, dentistry and hairdressing memorabilia, a full size buggy and even a three legged chook. On display is the “Roll-Up-Flag”, a banner carried by European miners in 1861. This flag forms part of the gold rush and mining history display. School groups and coach groups are welcome, only a short walk from the CBD. Panning equipment can be hired for Fossicking enthusiasts.
Enjoy a relaxing wander through the Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Garden, built to honour Chinese miners who came to the region during the gold rush period in the 1860s. The gardens include interpretive signage detailing Young’s mining heritage and information on wild birds, fish and wildlife. Picnic facilities, barbecues and toilet facilities are all available making it a perfect stop for lunch. The Garden is located to the south of Young, 5km from the CBD.
