Fresh & green

Looking to dive into some plant-based options? Here are five local eateries that may actually make you — dare we say it — crave dishes prepared with fresh vegetables.

1. Troy’s fresh kiTcheN & Juice Bar BesT of The BesT

4 Orchard View Drive, No. 6, Londonderry, 965-3411, troysfreshkitchen.com Londonderry native Troy Ward Jr. and his family opened this health-focused quick-service eatery in June 2019 in the town’s Apple Tree Mall shopping plaza. Troy’s offers smoothies, fresh-pressed juices, grain bowls, grilled wraps, breakfast scrambles and other items with fresh, all-natural and plant-based ingredients.

2. col’s kiTcheN

55 S. Main St., Concord, 227-6778, colsplantbased.com Col’s Kitchen opened in August 2020 in the former Willow’s Plant-Based Eatery space. Named after owner Jordan Reynolds’ pit bull, Col’s offers what Reynolds calls an “eclectic, all-American” approach to vegan foods, featuring a well-rounded menu of plant-based options from appetizers and salads to entree-sized meals, brunch items and desserts like pies, macarons and “pie shakes.”

3. The repuBlic of campo

969 Elm St., Manchester, 625-0256, republiccafe.com and campoenoteca.com New York City native Edward Aloise already had more than two decades of hospitality experience in New Hampshire when he and his wife, Claudia Rippee, opened Republic Cafe on Elm Street in Manchester in 2010. Campo Enoteca, a farm-to-table Italian restaurant and wine bar also on Elm Street, would arrive a few years later. In August 2020, Republic moved all its operations under the same roof as Campo Enoteca, where both restaurants continue to serve separate menus under a concept now known as The Republic of Campo.

4. greeN elephaNT vegeTariaN BisTro & Bar

35 Portwalk Place, Portsmouth, 427-8344, greenelephantnh.com Established in 2007 by chefs and owners Dan Sriprasert and Bob Wongsaichua, Green Elephant offers Asian-inspired vegetarian cuisine and a full bar, sourcing locally as much as possible.

5. greeNleaf

Greenleaf’s menu changes all the time, and that’s because it’s based on what will come in for products from the farms the eatery partners with.
