WORD OF TRUTH
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life Nathaniel L. Johnson
If you will turn in your bibles to John 17:17 and to John 14:6. John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” According to John 17:17 Your word is Truth. Who is the Word of God? (Wait fo r response) According to John 1:1, it is Jesus and what did Jesus say about himself? John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
No one person can go unto God but first going to Jesus his Son. We are sanctified by Jesus, because he is the Word of God and we are sanctified by God the Father’s word according to Heb 10:10 “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” John 17:3 “ And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” So in order to sanctify others and bring them into a relationship with the Father
we must teach them the Word of God, and that is Jesus his son. For it is the way to eternal life, to know the only true God and Jesus Christ and by knowing them we can receive their spirit, the Holy Spirit. Then we can be one with them, can we be one with the Father and his Son if we do not have the spirit. NO, a big fat NO. Why, Romans 8:9,10 “But you are not in the flesh but in the spirit, if indeed the spirit of God dwells in you, Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead
because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Did you see how the spirit was referred to as the Spirit of God the Father and the Spirit of Christ. The Father and the Son share the same spirit. How is this possible? Breath and Wait 10 seconds. I will answer this question later. We are to love the Father that is what Christ came to reveal to us, he came to show the love of the father. John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Who sent his son into the world to save it? It was the Father of Heaven and Earth. The question must be
How are we supposed to receive life everlasting? John 17:3 “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. If life eternal is based on knowing the only true God, Then the questions must be. Who is this God and who is this Jesus Christ? This is important to me because I would like to have eternal life.
You may ask why would I want eternal life? Because the God that is willing to send his son in to this dark place to save me from my wrong understanding of who God is and die for my wrong living so that I can be forgiven of my sins. This is someone that I want to know, how much Love the Father has for us that we can be called the sons of God. As According to 1Jn 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Let me ask the questions again. Who is this God and who is this Jesus Christ? There must be some verse that identifies who this God is and who Jesus Christ is. Let us start with. Eph 1:17 “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, that is a very interesting statement, who is the God of Jesus Christ, and the God of us?
John 8:54 “ Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:” Jesus said that he does not honour himself but that his Father honoureth him, and that his father is their God. But who is the God of Jesus Christ? As stated in Eph 1:17. John 20:17 “ Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I
ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.” According to John 20:17 who was the God of Jesus Christ? It was his Father. But I am not going to just show you one witness, but I will give you more witnesses so that you will see who the God of Jesus Christ is. Mat 27:46 “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” We have seen two places of where Jesus has called his father his God.
Mar 15:34 “And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” I know this is the same as Matt 27:46 but it is still important, why because it is repeated. Now the next verse will give you more understanding. Rev 3:12 “Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the
name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. The Father of Jesus Christ is the God of Jesus Christ, which is what it says in scripture. I will be going thru some more scripture that says, God the father, I want you to fully understand who God is. The God of the Jews, the God of Us, and the God of Jesus Christ, I will shorten the text and so it will not take as long to read all the verses. “(John 6:27) for him hath God the Father sealed,
(Rom 15:6) That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2Co 1:3) Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (2Co 11:31) The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Eph 1:3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Eph 1:17) That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, (Col 1:3) God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, I will not quote from them all if you would like to have the verse get with me
later and I will give you the verse. There is a total of 33 verses that say God is our father. Let us go to Proverbs 8:22 I want you to understand that this is not from me, but from the Holy Spirit leading me through the scriptures. Now that we know who the God of Jesus Christ is and who our God is, let me ask the question, if you will hear. When did, Jesus became the Son of God? Let me re-word that a little. When did Jes us come forth from his Father? In Bethlehem or before Bethlehem?
Proverbs 8:22-36 “Adonai brought me forth, the first of His way, before His works of old. From eternity I was appointed from the beginning, before the world began. When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth. He had not yet made the land, the fields, or the first dust of the earth. When He set the heavens in place, I was there. When He inscribed the horizon on the face of the ocean, when He established the skies above, when He securely fixed the
fountains of the deep, when He set the boundaries for the sea, so that the waters never transgress His command, when He laid out earth’s foundations— then I was the craftsman beside Him, I was His daily delight, always rejoicing before Him, rejoicing in His whole world, and delighting in mankind. “ Let me stop you here and ask the question who is this talking about? Let us continue and listen to the words that are spoken and who does this sound like? “So now, children, listen to me! Blessed are those who keep my ways. Heed
discipline and be wise, and do not neglect it. Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts. For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from Adonai. But whoever fails to find me harms his life—all who hate me love death. Who is that? Let us go to 1 Corinthians 1:24 Who all has headers in there bibles? What does it say about these verse? It is talking about wisdom, and who is Wisdom?
1 Corinthians 1:24 “but to those who are called (both Jewish and Greek people), Messiah, the power of God and the wisdom of God.” Let us go to John 5:24 Jesus is the wisdom of God, this wisdom that is talked about in Proverbs being brought forth. But let me give you more witnesses, I do not want to leave any doubt for you. Let us examine some of the statements made at the end. John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and
shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” Let us go to John 6:35 What did it say in proverbs “blessed is the one that listens to me” and what did Christ say, he that hears his word and believes will pass from death unto life. John 6:35 “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” Let us go to John 6:47 Jesus is the bread of life, and how did the one in proverbs say we receive life.
“whoever finds me finds life.” When we find Jesus the wisdom of God we find life. John 6:47 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” All we have to do is hear the words of Christ and believe that we are redeemed from our sins and we will have everlasting life. Wisdom said in Proverbs 8 “Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts.” Who is the Door?
John 10:9 I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture. Let us go to Hebrews 1:3 What have we learned so far? That the God of Jesus Christ is his father, that the God of the Jews is the Father of Jesus, and that the God of us is God the Father, we have also seen that Jesus was brought forth from everlasting before all things were created, Jesus was the one there by the side of his Father. What did Christ say “then I was the craftsman beside Him referring back to proverbs. Jesus was literally the son of God. Born
of God, Jesus inherited a greater name then that of the angels. Hebrews 1:3-10 “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a
Son? And again, when he bringeth in the first begotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation
of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: Let us go to Ephesians 4:6 Jesus sat down at the right hand of his father, the Majesty on High. The Trinity doctrine pulls this apart, the Trinity doctrine says that Jesus is not the son of God, but is God. The Majesty on high, but who is the majesty on high, none other than the Father, for he is the source of all things. Ephesians 4:6 “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Let us go to Psalms 2:7 Christ was with God and was a part of God. Christ is the Son of God brought forth from God. God has called him is son before Bethlehem. Christ was called the Son of God before all things were made. Psalms 2:7 “I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.” Christ was begotten of God, if you go by the Trinity doctrine Christ has always been and never was begotten of the Father. Then the question must be “How
is he the Son of God the Father? If Christ has always existed alongside the Father, he cannot be his father’s son. Same goes along with the Holy Spirit, the Trinity doctrine says that all three are god but they are not each other. The father, the son and the spirit are three persons that make up one god. All are gods and all three are divine, it is even said that the holy spirit was a part of the creation process. Which I have no doubt that it was but it is not a being by itself. It is the person of Christ which I will show later. Now I have to unanswered question for you that I will answer later. 1.) How does the Father and Son share
the same spirit? 2.) Is the holy Spirit Christ? Right now I am laying the foundation that is needed for you to understand who is God? Who is Jesus? Who is the Spirit? What have we seen so far, that God the father is the creator of heaven and earth, that the father is the God of Jesus Christ, and that all things are from the father. What have we seen of Jesus, that he is the only begotten son of the Father, that Jesus is not an angel made into a son. Because angels are created and Jesus is not created he is brought forth. That Jesus is also the creator of
heaven and earth, that we are sanctified by God the Father thru Jesus Christ. That Jesus is the express image of his father and he has the fullness of the Godhead. Now that we have seen that the Father is the only True God that Jesus is the Son of God begotten and the express image of his Father. That leaves the question of who is the Holy Spirit. If you will, go to Romans 8:9 again. We saw in this verse earlier that the spirit of God is the same as the spirit of Christ. But let’s read this again and make sure that we read it right the first time. Romans 8:9-10
“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his. If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness.” Leave your finger here and go to John 4:23 First thing I want examine is whose spirit is in you? If we are to be in the spirit, which is the only way for us to worship God the Father is to be in the spirit. According to John, let us read.
John 4:23 “But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers.” Now I want to notice something before we read verse 24, who do we worship in verse 23? The Father Now what does verse 24 say, let us read. “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” When it says in Romans or any verse in the Bible for that matter “the Spirit of God” is who? None other than the
Father, but let us examine more in Romans 8:9. “But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.” Two things here, spirit of Christ and he is not his. First I want to address the statement of “he is not his”, very plain, If we don’t have the spirit of Christ we are not God’s. Remember John 4:23 “for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers”. Then the second statement of “Spirit of Christ”. If you will, go to John 5:26 The spirit of Christ is the one that is in you, it must be the holy spirit. The Spirit
of God, who is God? the Father is God. So if the spirit of God is the Father and the spirit of the Father is the Holy spirit, and the Father and son share the same spirit as according to Romans 8:9 then the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. How is that? I will be answering the first a nd second unanswered questions. How does the Father and the son share the same spirit? And is the Holy Spirit Christ? John 5:26 “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; If you will now turn to John 3:34
The Father gave everything to his son including the Life of the Father. That is how Christ has the original, unborrowed, underived life. As according to the servant of the Lord, let me also give another quote by the servant of the Lord from Selected Messages book 3. “The imparted Holy Spirit enabled His disciples, the apostles, to stand firmly against every species of idolatry and to exalt the Lord and Him alone. Who, but Jesus Christ by His Spirit and divine power, guided the pens of the sacred historians that to the world might be presented the precious record of the
sayings and works of Jesus Christ? {3SM 137.2}” The servant of the Lord said that Christ by His Spirit, the Holy Spirit was the one that guided the people of God to write the Bible. “John 3:34-35 For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.” Jesus received all things from his Father, and the Spirit without measure. Meaning that all the Father has so does the Son of the Father, have all, life and full control
of the spirit. To be able to give and take life, to be able to create life, to be able to create worlds, to be able to create from nothing. Let us Close with a recap of what we have learned. 1. The father is God and the only True God, the almighty 2. The Son is Begotten of the Father, with all given to him, including life in himself, and full measure of the spirit. To be able to create and give life, and to take away. 3. The holy spirit is the spirit of the Father and His son Jesus Christ. They are with us and in us thru their spirit.
One more quote by the servant of the Lord, Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers “How few realize that Jesus, unseen, is walking by their side! How ashamed many would be to hear His voice speaking to them, and to know that He heard all their foolish, common talk! And how many hearts would burn for holy joy if they only knew that the Saviour was by their side, that the holy atmosphere of His presence was surrounding them, and they were feeding on the bread of life! How pleased the Saviour would be to hear His followers talking of His precious
lessons of instruction, and to know that they had a relish for holy things! When the truth abides in the heart, there is no place for criticism of God’s servants, or for picking flaws with the message He sends. That which is in the heart will flow from the lips. It cannot be repressed. The things that God has prepared for those that love Him will be the theme of conversation. The love of Christ is in the soul as well of water, springing up into everlasting life, sending forth living streams that bring life and gladness wherever they flow. {TM 88.1}”
