Today is the day Wisdom calls in the streets, Giving counsel and understanding to all She meets, Greatly blessing those whose ways She keeps... Today is the day of Salvation!
Today is the day to acknowledge Him, To cut the chains from the progression of sin, To heal your soul and find freedom within... Today is the day of Salvation!
Today is the day to own truth and uprightness, To allow your heart to be filled with kindness, Discernment and peace will become your confidence... Today is the day of Salvation!
Today is the day to just be still, To climb and sit on the highest hill, To listen for our Heavenly Father's will... Today is the day of Salvation!
“For God says, 'At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.' Indeed, the "right time" is now. Today is the day of salvation."
Philippians 4:4-7:
"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
I think this scripture really says it all. It talks about rejoicing in the Lord. A few things to Rejoice about are His Word, His birth, His miracles, His suffering, His resurrection, His Gospel, His forgiveness, His
Spirit, His people, His vengeance and His glory. Gentleness means being reasonable, being not so concerned about the unimportant matters in life that a person fights over, the nonessentials. Believers that take their Anxiety to God in prayer discover the peace of God . They are also promised which is even better, the God of Peace Himself, His protection, presence, comfort and His encouragement. When you find yourself worrying, the answer is prayer, which gives proper thinking and proper responses. The opposite of peace is worry. The Greek word for anxious means to have "a mind divided" between good thoughts and destructive thoughts. There is the problem... destructive thoughts block the Word of God and it causes believers to not trust God. We must always trust God
with all of our hearts, without doubt.
We must always be thankful as well, for all that He has done for us, not only this time of year in which we celebrate a Thanksgiving holiday with turkey and all the trimmings, but every day we need to live thankfully.
I know I'm very thankful for all the things that God has done for me, the things that He has put into my life and the people that He has put into my life.
This is a short story about gratitude.
A blind boy was sitting on the steps of a building. He had a hat down by his feet. He was holding up a sign which read, "I am blind, please help."
There was only a few coins in the boy's hat; it was spare change that was thrown into the hat from people that were in a hurry as they past by.
A man that was also
walking down the street came up to the boy. He took a few coins from his pocket and put them into the boy's hat. Then he took the sign out of the boy's hand, turned it around and he wrote some words. He gave the sign back to the boy so that everyone who was walking by the boy would see the new words that he had wrote.
Not long after, his hat was filling up with coins and bills, as a lot of people were starting to give the boy money.
Later that afternoon, the man who had changed the sign had returned to see how things were going for the boy. The boy had heard the man's footsteps coming towards him and recognized the way he walked.
The boy said to the man, "Are you the man who changed my sign early this morning? What did
The man said to the boy , "I wrote the truth. I said what you had said to me, but I put in a different way."
I wrote, "Today is a beautiful day, but I cannot see it."
The man said to the boy, "Both signs spoke the truth, but your sign simply said that you were blind, while my sign said to everyone walking by how grateful they should be to see."
How true is that; God is always there, He never, ever leaves our side. Deuteronomy 31:8 says, "And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you, He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed." It also shows us how grateful we should always be for our health, families, work, homes, vehicles, our lives in general.
Even if we don't have our health, families, vehicles or jobs, we still should be thankful. We may not be thankful for being
sick for example, but we should always be thankful for God who is with us always.
So are you thankful, no matter what? Take a look at a biblical story of thankfulness; Paul had every right to be very bitter, but he wasn't.
Paul knew the true meaning of being thankful, even while he was suffering through great adversity when he was in prison in Rome.
Ephesians 5:19-20 says, "...speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Always give thanks for everything, no matter what the circumstances are in your life! Being thankful for Paul was not a 'once a year' celebration; it was a daily reality that changed his life. It turned him into a joyful person in every
situation.
Giving thanks to God for all of His blessings should be one of the important attitudes of a Christian in Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 says, "For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe."
We must never allow the spirit of ingratitude enter our lives. This will only harden our hearts towards God. In the book of Timothy, he describes what people will be like in the last days; one of the characteristics will be ingratitude. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says, "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!"
Living a life like this will, without a doubt, harden your heart from God, so watch and stay true to God.
Being ungrateful will turn us into bitter, selfish, dissatisfied people.
Likewise, there is nothing that will do more for us to restore contentment, the pure joy of our salvation and the love of God more than the true spirit of thankfulness.
Psalm 95:14 declares a call to worship and obedience: "Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God And the great
King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also."
During the biblical time, leprosy was a horrible disease. It terribly disfigured those who had the disease. People who had leprosy were permanently cut off from everyone and everything. This was without exception; every leper only wanted one thing, and that was to be healed.
When Jesus was outside a village, ten lepers approached Him; they were loud and pleading for Him to heal them. In an instant, Jesus healed the ten lepers back to perfect health and form. Luke 17:1114 says, "Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, Have mercy on us!"
So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed."
Now one of the men, when he saw that he was healed, returned to Jesus to thank Him for healing him. All the rest left without a word of thanks; their minds had become preoccupied only with themselves. They had become gripped in the spirit of ingratitude.
Luke 17:15-19 says, "And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith had made you well."
It's the same thing today as well, the ingratitude and
thanklessness is too common, children not thanking their parents for all that they have done for them. Common courtesy is gone. People take for granted the ways other people help them. But above all, we fail to thank God for all of His blessings.
Let's be honest here and say it as it is, that ingratitude is a sin, just as much as lying, stealing, immorality or any other sin is in the Bible. One of the Bible's accusations against rebellious humanity is Romans 1:21 which says, "... because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened." An ungrateful heart is a heart that has gone cold towards God and indifferent to His mercy and love. It is a heart that has forgotten all that God has done for us and how dependent we really are on God for everything.
When we read the Bible cover to cover, we see that we are commanded to be thankful. As a matter of fact, thankfulness is something that is natural and it overflows from the heart that is in sync with God. Psalm 147:7 says, "Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; Sing praises on the harp to our God." Paul also said in Colossians 3:15, "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." After all, a spirit of thanksgiving is one of the good fruits of a joyful Christian.
Thank God for the people in your life; let them know you appreciate them and are thankful for them, 1 Corinthians 1:4 says, "I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus."
Always say thanks to God for all of those who have touched your life one way or another.
We should also be so thankful to God for His salvation in Je sus Christ. God gave us the greatest gift of all, His Son, who died on the cross for us all and rose again three days later so that we can have a personal relationship with Him and spend eternity in Heaven with Him. 2 Corinthians 9:15 says, "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!"
We are separated from God because of sin. God is a Holy God, He cannot and will not look upon sin. When we sin, He will turn His back on us. That is when we feel like God has left us, but in reality, He has turned from us. As we heard Jesus cry out to God when He was nailed to the cross, God turned His back on Him, be cause Jesus became sin when He took all of our sin upon him, so God could no longer look upon Him at that time. Matthew 27:46 says, "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that
is, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?" All we have to do is ask God to forgive us, to repent of our sin and He will forgive us. God loves us; He loves you; He loves me; He also wants us to be a part of His fam ily forever. God loves us so much that He sent His only Son into the world to die on the cross as a perfect sac rifice for our sins. All we really need to do to receive this is reach out in faith and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not per ish but have everlast ing life."
Have you opened your heart to Jesus Christ? If not, you need to turn to Him now with a simple prayer of repentance and faith, and thank Him for what He has done for you. And if you do know Christ, how long has it been since you sat down and really thanked God for your salva tion? We really should
not let another day go by without thanking God for His mercy and His grace to us in Je sus Christ. For we are saved by Grace, not works. Ephesians 2:89 says, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
When we give our lives to Jesus and be come Christians, it is not the end but the beginning of a whole new life and journey! He is with us, and He wants to help us follow Him and His Word. We do not have the inner strength
that we need to live the way God truly wants us to live. Now when we turn to His Word, we will discover what Philippians 2:13 says: "It is God who works in us to will and to act according to His good purpose." In many countries, a special day is set aside each year for thanksgiving. But for us Christians, every day can and should be a day of thanksgiving.
Ephesians 5:20 says, "...giving thanks al ways for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God." So let's be thankful every day.

I've always loved the sad honky-tonk song, "Rose Colored Glasses," co-written and recorded by country music singer Jon Conlee back in the late 70's. The song is about a problematic relationship, but instead of dealing with or confronting the problems, he looks through his 'rose colored glasses,' which hides the truth of the situation and makes everything look fine on the surface. Even though he is trying to live in a delusion, he is still hurt by the betrayal of his loved one. There are people living each day with heartache and unresolved animosity, who long for the day when they can put their rose colored glasses aside and experience true peace, love and hope.
Harsh words and behaviors really hurt a person. King David in the Bible was very familiar with such issues. Saul tried to kill him, David committed adultery with another man's wife, then had him killed, David's son led a coup against him, and there was horrific strife within his family. In spite of all of this, David was known as a man
after God's own heart.
He had a different way of dealing with hardships in
world you live in? Your beliefs and perspectives of the world produces
his life. He took them to the Lord in prayer. As we read in Psalm 4:48, David poured out his heart to God and cried, "Hear me when I call, oh God." David had every reason to be angry, but he had no reason to sin. He reminded himself not to sin in his anger, but to find solace in meditation before the Lord by being still, offering sacrifices of righteousness and trusting in the Lord.
When troubles arise, do you ignore them or wish they would just go away, or do you earnestly take them to the Lord in prayer? How do you view the
action and shapes human culture and this is what defines your worldview. What are your basic beliefs? Your worldview defines your answers to such questions as, "Is abortion wrong? What happens when you die? Why is kindness important? What and who do you love?" A person's worldview tells the story of where we came from, how we got here, and why we're here.
A Christian worldview is based on God's unchanging Word. It is built on Scripture that includes creation, fall and redemption. This foundation enables
believers to apply scriptural principles to everyday life. The Bible determines and defines right from wrong, morality from immorality and the believer views all worldly aspects through the filter of the Bible. It acknowledges that God is the author of the Bible and Creator of everything in heaven and earth. It is having confidence in the ability of Christ to save us, filling us with hope. Having a biblical worldview changes how we react to circumstances and major events in the world and in our lives. It provides a lens for believers to consider their culture and their lives through a biblical lens and to look to Christ to show us how to live righteously. It determines how we respond to traffic, or wait in line at the grocery store. A Christian will respond with trust in God's wisdom after a disaster, whereas someone else would be shaken pretty badly. A Christian relies on a biblical worldview to prioritize their time and money, to raise their family,
and respond to hurtful words and comments.
A secular worldview teaches that one's beliefs are a matter of personal preference and are not based on absolute truth, meaning the Bible. It holds that there is nothing but natural elements, principles and relations studied by natural sciences and believes that our personal truth is determined by our upbringing and culture. It believes that absolute truth only suppresses and oppresses the world.
Basically, good and bad decisions are defined by who God is and what
He has revealed to us in Scripture about how we should live. A Christian knows that submission to God's moral law is the only path to true liberty and peace, while secular ethics is being thrown at us in almost every waking moment through public education, media, legislation and insists that right verses wrong is just a personal preference. But somehow, the darkness and despair that secularism brings lingers on through its uncaring propaganda.
Biblical and secular visions run at odds with each other. Sadly,
the spiritual condition of someone holding a secular worldview is dark and no amount of policy, money, medicine, emotion or education can illuminate it. Christ alone changes hearts because He alone took the sins of the world and nailed them to the cross when He died for you and me.
That's the good news of the gospel...it's inclusive of all people. We are to love everyone, to be a representative of God Himself, to carry on with the ministry of love and forgiveness inspired by Jesus Christ. So, we are to forgive those who
don't believe the way we do, because they need the same forgiveness we have in Christ, but they just don't know it yet. They haven't figured out what 'truth' is. It is our job, as Christians, to go and tell the world about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We also need to be mindful that our personal worldview can become deeply affected by the world through media and other influences. We need to be diligent in living the truth of God so that our witness will not be confusing and misleading.
"Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
Dr. David Jeremiah's book titled, "God has Not Forgotten You" is a reminder that no matter what is happening, God is always with you. The chapters in this book covers uncertainty, change, loneliness, health and much more. It is a very good book, especially if you're feeling forgotten. We imagine that when we're going through difficult days, such as a job loss, sickness in family, or the death of a loved one, that God has no idea or simply doesn't care. That is completely not true; God knows when you're sad, lost, lonely and frightened. He will comfort, protect, provide and care for you always. Proverbs 3:56, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
Our bodies are incredibly and wonderfully made by God. We have an amazing immune system that can eliminate threats
from bacteria to viruses and even cancer. Yet sometimes our bodies can fail us, especially when we are older and frail. Dr. David Jeremiah gives an example of frailty when he asks, "What would you think would be the most dangerous animal on the planet? Most people would probably say sharks or bears; you would naturally say with their teeth and claws that they would be. No, the most dangerous creature is the mosquito. They are responsible for the transmission of malaria,
yellow fever, dengue fever, zika and more. They kill more than seven hundred and fifty thousand people yearly.
Disease is a symptom of sin, it is the curse of sin on all creation. God does not give us a spirit of fear; the Lord will be our strength, no matter what we are facing. For Christians who are suffering with a sickness, John 11:4 is our greatest truth. When Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified
Going through any illness is never easy for that person or their family, but as Christians we know God will never leave us. Our prayers are not always answered as fast as we would like. Sometimes it can take years. Because of this, we feel God has forsaken us. Please always remember, God turned His back on Jesus as He hung on the cross, because God is Holy and could not look upon the sin, our sin, that Jesus took to the cross with Him. God turned His back on His Son as He would never have to turn His back on You.
The truth is, Jesus hung on that cross, endured all of it, because He loves you that much. Psalm 138:7-8: "Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, And your right hand will save me. The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands."

Patricia said, "I'm still processing the fact that I will never see or speak to my brother again in this lifetime."
Patricia's brother Michael Heaton, 66, worked as a reporter, featured writer, also columnist for the Plain Dealer, a newspaper in Ohio. He wrote the "Minister of Culture" column for over 30 years and he was well known in the journalism world before he retired in 2018.

The White House are reporting that Iranian troops are "directly engaged on the ground" in Crimea as they support Russian drone attacks on the Ukraine power stations and many other key infrastructure. They claim that they have troubling evidence of Tehran's role by assisting Russia as it brings much suffering on Ukrainian civilians just before the cold weather begins.
John Kirby National Security Council spokesman told reporters that Iran sent a "relatively small number" of troops to Crimea, a part of Ukraine that was independently annexed by Russia in violation of international law in 2014, to help Russian troops in launching Iranian made drones on Ukraine.
The members from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps were dispatched to Crimea to help the Russian forces, according to the British government.
The U.S. intelligence's eye opening find comes as the Biden administration looks to put international pressure on Tehran to step back from helping Russia as it bombs Ukrainian civilian targets with the drones.
The Russians recently have increasingly been using the Iranian supplied drones, as well as Kalibr and Iskander cruise missiles, to carry out a bombardment on Ukrainian infrastructure on non-military targets.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this past week that Russian Troops have destroyed 30% of Ukraine's power since early October.
Kirby said, "The
information we have is that the Iranians have put trainers and tech support in Crimea, but it's the Russians who are doing the piloting."
He also added that the Biden administration was looking at imposing new sanctions on Tehran and would continue to look for new ways to make it harder for Iran to sell such weapons to Russia.
The U.S. first mentioned this past summer that Russia was buying Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles to launch against Ukraine. Iran has dismissed that they are selling its arms to Russia.
White House
officials are saying that international sanctions, including export controls, have put the Russians in a hard place as they are trying to restock their ammunition and precision guided arms stock that have been totally exhausted during the nearly eight months of war. Because of this, Russia has been forced to look to Iran and also North Korea for weapons.
Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder of the U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon press secretary, said that military officials "wouldn't be surprised" if the Russians asked for more drones from Iran "given their situation."
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said, "These cowardly drone strikes are an act of desperation. By enabling these strikes, these individuals and a manufacturer have caused the people of Ukraine untold suffering. We will ensure that they are held to account for their actions."
Earlier this month in Jerusalem, Christians and Jewish people worldwide came together in Israel's capital where they followed a Biblical command: "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem."
The event opened, the sounds of cheering people and the Shofar were heard as the celebration kicked off the annual International Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, which started 18 years ago.
Bishop Robert Stearns of Eagles Wings Ministries helped start the event in 2004. Robert said the purpose is "to fulfill the mandate of Psalm 122:6: 'Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,' acknowledging that peace in Jerusalem represents peace for the world. So, the day of prayer gathers and empowers Christians around the world to stand in alliance with the promise of God."
Robert believes Jerusalem is the centre of God's plans for
the world. He said, "Jerusalem is a plumb line. Jerusalem is a place of covenantal alignment. As goes Jerusalem, as goes Israel, so goes much of our world. And so when we focus in this moment, which is both filled with difficulty and promise, let's look at this. We have increased negative attacking rhetoric from Iran, from Syria. We've got all kinds of problems there but through the Abraham Accords we have amazing new opportunities for peace. So, we have to pray that humanity moves in the direction of peace that has been promised to this land and to this region."
The day of prayer brings Christians and Jews together, and Josh Reinstein of Israel's Knesset Christian Allies Caucus calls it a very important day for all to remember on the calendar. Josh said, "It codifies the blessing and command to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. What Eagles Wings has done by adding another holiday into the Christian calendar is really unbelievable and here in Jerusalem we celebrate it together with our Christian brothers."
Robert sees that a younger generation is now seeing the importance of prayer for the city that the Lord
Chris Granzow, with Christian Agency for Israel, belongs to that generation. He said, "Being a younger man myself, I'm just excited to inspire others to come and see what is happening here in Israel, to not only come and view it but take an active role in it. We want to loudly and proudly tell the world that we want to stand with Israel. We want to stand with God in seeing the peace come about here in the Land."
Jerusalem Prayer Leader Rick Ridings said, "It's always intense here, but right now with the threats, very existential threats coming from Iran, and the relationships that seem to be developing between Iran and Russia, there's a real serious need for prayer for the peace of Jerusalem and of Israel."
Rick observed that the prayer for Jerusalem sends a strong message to the Jewish people that they are not alone.
The football star quarterback from the Philadelphia Eagles, Jalen Hurts, is off to an amazing start this year as he and his team are 6-0. He is being praised in the way he is playing and leading his team with the NFL's top offense, and he says all his success this year is pointing fans right to God.
Jalen says, "Be who God called you to be." That's the way that Jalen is living his life, being strong and bold about his faith as a Christian and his calling from God to be that light, on and off the field.
Jalen led the Eagles to a big win during a Monday night football game, as he had two rushing touchdowns, then he topped that off with a 53 yard touchdown pass.
Regardless of his individual and team success this year, the 24 year old is giving God all the glory. Jalen says, "I've just matured and realized that God is everything. He is worthy
of praise. You have to put Him at the center of everything that you do. That's what I believe."
He also said, "All my spiritual wisdom, all of my wisdom as a whole, comes from Him, in some way, shape, or form, whether that be passed down from my father, my mother, my grandmother. I just think, in all the things
that we experience in life, good, bad or indifferent, you have to keep Him in the center."
Jalen continually shows that he keeps God at the center of the game, as he takes a knee on the field and prays.
Jalen's faith is plainly part of his social media, as he tweeted a picture of himself praying on the field and saying, "He
is an on time God!" Jelan also tweets Bible verses. Back during Easter, he tweeted about Jesus' resurrection in Luke 24. Jalen also said that his faith has brought him through some rough seasons, which included being benched following his freshman year at the University of Alabama. Jalen, said, "I understand that God put those obstacles and challenges in my life for a reason. He wanted me to feel the pain I felt for a reason. He wanted me to understand the importance of never losing faith, and of always staying true to myself. He had NOT brought me this far just to leave me there." He also said, "Whatever it is you're going through, never lose your trust in God and never lose your faith in God. Keep your head down, be graceful, keep on controlling what you can. Give it to the Lord and do your best. Regardless of the situation, you may not know now, but later you'll understand."
"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

2. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known.
3. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard.
4. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.
5. It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding. It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
6. The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat.
7. The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
8. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.
9. Reverence for the Lord is pure,
lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair.
10. They are most desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb.
11. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.
by David, reflects the beauty and splendor of Hebrew poetry. C.S. Lewis wrote, "I take this to be the greatest poem in the Psalter and one of the greatest lyrics in the world."
In this psalm, David writes about looking to the blue sky and seeing the glory of the sun and clouds and the beauty
heavens, and then returns to its tabernacle at night.
God's glory in the visible heavens is for all to see, no matter what language mankind speaks. It has gone out through all the earth. The apostle Paul tells us in Romans 1:20 that, "God's invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse." If the earth grew silent, the heavens above will never cease to declare and proclaim His majesty and glory. Even an atheist would need to be deaf not to hear God's voice through the vast expanse of His creation.
12. How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
13. Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.
14. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to You, Oh Lord, my rock and my redeemer."
This psalm, written
of sunrises and sunsets. In the night sky, with the brightness, grandeur and size of the moon, the awe of the starry sky and the cloudy spread of the distant galaxies, David shouted that this is evidence of God's glory, the God who created it all.
He poetically describes the sky as a dwelling place for the sun, which comes out of its tent every day to cross the
As we read through the first six verses of this Psalm, we learn that God exists through creation, but it is through the next five verses that we understand the fullness of God's character and nature and the benefits derived from the Scriptures, as well as the discernment it can bring to one’s personal life. The laws, or doctrine, as outlined
in the first five books of the Old Testament, are perfect for the needs of our spiritual life, converting our soul. God gave us these testimonies to guide us to wisdom concerning righteous living. His precepts are right for us and bring joy and happiness in our lives when we abide by them.
God's commands are pure and they morally and doctrinally direct our lives into His light. God's declarations of what's right and wrong are reliable and trustworthy.
The value of His Word is immeasurable and as we feed on His truth, we discover that our souls are satisfied and delighted. The Bible enriches us and God's Word protects us from the destructive pathway of sin. When we strive to obey His Word, God promises us abundant and rewarding consequences,
such as peace of mind in the restoration of our soul, wisdom in our walk and joy in our heart.
David concludes Psalm 19 with an earnest prayer to be spiritually transparent before God, as man cannot hide secrets from his Maker. It is so easy for us to live one way before God, yet live another way before man, but God knows and judges everything about us. In Romans 7:24, Paul cries out, "Oh wretched man that I am."
Knowing that our flesh is weak, even though our spirit is willing (Matthew 26:41), we must depend on God to protect us from all unrighteousness.
And what about those sins that are secret to us, those which we have committed but have forgotten, or those which we have not repented of? What about those sins which
we have committed but didn't realize they were sins? David also realized that he was very capable of committing presumptuous sins... those sins done in a proud and knowing way that could potentially have dominion over him.
Like David, our prayer should be to be cleansed of our own sinfulness by the atoning blood of Jesus Christ and to love and depend upon God in prayer to help us stay free from the dominion of enslaving sin. When sin is addressed, we can be blameless and innocent of great transgression.
As Paul wrote in Romans 6:14, "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace."
David looked to God to be his strength, his Rock, to rescue him and to redeem him as
he put his trust in Him.
From this glorious psalm, we know that the God of creation and revelation is also the God of personal relationship and redemption for His people. Let us find more joy in God's testimonies than in all the riches in the world! Let us get up every morning and meditate on the scriptures until we are filled with the joy and peace that only comes from knowing and believing in the great promises of God.
Our challenge should be not merely to pursue righteousness, but to prefer righteousness.
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners nor sits in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night." (Psalm 1:1-2)
