踏入講座系列的第五屆，加料節目邀請到威爾斯國家歌劇院藝術總監 大衛‧普尼作香港藝術節傑出文化領袖講座系列的主講嘉賓。普尼憑 1972 年韋克斯福德歌劇節的《卡塔‧卡芭諾娃》蜚聲國際一炮而紅， 他與威爾斯國家歌劇院合作的楊納傑克歌劇巡禮亦享負盛名。他曾執 導超過 20 部歌劇的世界首演，當中不少更是鮮為人知的劇目。在璀 璨的事業生涯中，他曾擔任蘇格蘭歌劇團及英國國家歌劇團的製作總 監，於 2003 至 2014 年間出任布雷根茨藝術節奧地利湖上歌劇院的 藝術總監。普尼立足歌劇界 40 年，這次將在《金融時報》亞太區董事 總經理安琪拉 ‧ 麥奇的主持下，與我們分享他對歌劇的熱愛，以及此 藝術形式當前面對的挑戰。 © Richard Hubert Smith
Festival PLUS is delighted to present David Pountney, Artistic Director of Welsh National Opera (WNO) as our special guest in the fifth edition of HKAF Distinguished Cultural Leader Series. One of the world’s leading opera directors, Pountney gained international fame following his production of Katya Kabanova at the 1972 Wexford Festival and his pioneering Janáček cycle in collaboration with WNO. The veteran director is well recognised for his innovative approach and has directed more than 20 world premieres, many for lesserknown works. His prolific career includes titles such as Director of Productions for Scottish Opera and English National Opera, and Artistic Director of the Bregenz Festival (2003-2014). With a career spanning four decades, Mr Pountney will spark off a conversation with Angela Mackay, Managing Director-Asia Pacific of the Financial Times, talking about his passion for opera and the challenges facing the art form today.

Joyce Tang and Lawrence Lau are two Hong Kong composers featured in the Beyond Impressionism programme at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. Lawrence is a music and composition student at the start of his career, and Joyce is one of the most active composers in Hong Kong. Rachmaninov was inspired by Swiss symbolist painter Arnold Böcklin's Die Heimkehr (The Homecoming) when writing his Prelude in B minor for piano. But what do Rachmaninov and Böcklin have in common? Which Russian artists have been inspired by Rachmaninov? Anastassia Katafygiotis, Founder of the Red Square Gallery and Managing Director of Anastassia's Art House, will open this event by discussing these questions of music, art and inspiration, before Charles Tam Chun-Him, a recent graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, performs Rachmaninov’s preludes and variations. 曲目 Programme

Founded in 2000, Isango Ensemble creates performances with a distinctly South African flavour, either by re-imagining Western theatre classics or by creating new work reflecting their South African heritage. U-Carmen eKhayelitsha is Isango Ensemble's filmed stage adaptation of Bizet’s Carmen, which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. Set in the modern-day South African township of Khayelitsha, with the libretto translated into the Xhosa regional language, the film was created by Mark Dornford-May, Pauline Malefane and other members of the ensemble.
