Skills for Work Entry Level 3
A one year foundation level course which will support you in developing the skills required for further study in your chosen vocational area.
The course is very practical with lots of chance to develop skills in a practical environment. Both skills and knowledge are assessed throughout the year by the completion of assignments. You will also complete a two week block of work experience during the course of the year. There are a variety of external visits which form part of your study programme, and you will be appointed a personal tutor for the duration of the course. The Skills for Work Diploma at Entry Level 3 gives you a practical taster of subjects within the landbased sector, as well as supporting you in developing the skills for further education, work and independent living. Based at our Walford Campus, you will study a range of land-based subjects such as; animal care, agriculture and horticulture.

Progression Progression routes shown are dependent on successful completion of qualifications and meeting entry criteria. Study options may include: • A L1 course in a vocational area of your interest • L1 Diploma in Skills for Work
Employment options may include: • Paid or voluntary work in a vocational area you are interested in • Paid/voluntary work in a pet shop or similar • Paid or voluntary work in the land-based sector (garden centre, pet shop, farm etc)
Course Costs There may be optional trips relating to a unit within the course – letters will be sent out at least three weeks prior to the trip informing you of any related costs. There will be fees for safety clothing required for practical activities within the land-based areas. Further information about this can be requested from a member of the teaching team or will be sent out with your confirmation letter once you have had an interview. There are various bursaries available to support eligible students with course-related costs and you can find out more about these on page 14.
Material Fees There is a £100 material fee cost for this course.
