Motor Vehicle Level 3
This course includes all aspects of motor vehicle engineering, such as; electronics, hybrid and electrical vehicles, chassis, engine and relevant ancillary systems.
You will explore the world of diagnostics, oscilloscopes, wave patterns and air conditioning in the electrical unit. You will also look at caster, camber, KPI, ABS and use the latest 4 wheel alignment equipment in the chassis unit. In the engine unit you will become familiar with Lambda, knock and camshaft sensors whilst understanding the reasons for lead lag and BTDC when valve timing is discussed. The transmission unit will explain the workings of auto boxes, CVT transmission drives, differentials and final drives plus, synchro hubs, clutches and DSG transmissions.

Entry Requirements • Students need to have accomplished accreditation at Levels 1 and 2 City and Guilds • Motor Vehicle Engineering • Four GCSE passes at grade 4 (grade C or above (including maths and English) or a Merit grade or above in a BTEC Level 2 qualification and equivalent maths and English
Progression Progression routes shown are dependent on successful completion of qualifications and meeting entry criteria.
Study options may include: • University-level study in Motorsport or C.A.D (Computer Aided Design) • Advanced Apprenticeship
Employment options may include: • Technician in a main dealer Workshop • Technician in the armed forces such as the Royal Navy or the Air Force • Self Employed technician or auto electrical technician

Interviews
From October 2019 onwards we will be offering a series of interviews and guided tours at our open events. You will have a formal interview with a subject specialist who will discuss your career aims and ensure you are on the right course for you. Acceptance onto your chosen course may depend on your examination results.
Enrolling
In the week before the beginning of the autumn term, you will be invited to college to complete enrolment formalities. You will find that you are really getting to know us by then. After the long summer break it is also an opportunity to meet up with old friends, make new ones and catch up on all the news.

You will find that the first week is spent making sure that you have all the necessary information to make your time with us a happy, safe, and productive period of your life. We aim to give you the support to develop your full potential, but your time with us will not just be about computers, books, classrooms and exams. HOW TO GET TO NSC
Oswestry Campus - SY11 4QB
The Oswestry Campus is conveniently located near main transport routes, making it an ideal location for rural North Shropshire. It offers some of the best educational facilities in the county – an exciting, modern campus on a shared site with the superb, purposebuilt Oswestry Leisure Centre.
Walford Campus - SY4 2HL
The Walford Campus is situated amidst a beautiful 220-hectare estate near Baschurch, just a few miles west of Shrewsbury with a network of transport routes from Telford, Shrewsbury, North Shropshire and the Welsh borders. The extensive grounds also include mature woodlands, new tree plantations, fishing pools and a rough game shoot.
