We encourage you to contact us to learn more information about our program, objectives and opportunities” - Mike Addesa & Kurt Mallett

Program Highlights: • On-ice skills development & system training • Monitored off-ice strength training including yoga & cycle spin classes • Disciplined life skills culture that includes mentorship in nutrition, lifestyle and education “There are many reasons why I chose the Seacoast College Prep junior program over other junior programs in the area. Due to the efforts of the coaching staff, I have talked with more college coaches and been on more college visits this season than in my three years of prep school hockey and one year of juniors combined. Also, the practice and training schedules are more serious. Our workouts, spin class, yoga and stretching sessions help us get stronger and stay at the top of our conditioning throughout the season. Finally, with the way the program is set up, the organization is focused on advancing players to the college level and is focused on each and every player’s success.”

North’s Matt Quercia On The Fast Track By Kevin Doyle • HNIB

T

he events of the past few months have placed Matt Quercia on hockey’s fast track. First came the late April commitment to Boston University for the Fall of 2018. Then, earlier this month, Quercia revealed via Twitter that he had signed with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL for the coming season. Quercia – a 6-2, 185-pound power forward from Andover, MA – was Sioux Falls’ sixth-round choice after spending the past four seasons in the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs’ system. The commitment to BU fulfilled a lifetime dream. “Since I was six years old I have been dreaming of going there. I went to The Beanpot in 2007 when they won and I fell in love with BU. A dream come true is what I have to say,” said Quercia, 17. The decision to leave the Monarchs for the USHL’s Stampede was all about continuing his overall development, on and off the ice. “I feel as if I can develop best in the USHL. I expect that I will become a better hockey player, but also a better, more mature young man. This will take a huge toll on my life, but I believe in a positive way. I look forward to the upcoming season, and the challenges I will face. I will embrace them,” he said. He will head West with him fond memories of his time with the Monarchs. “The Monarchs have done nothing but help me get ready for the next level. I have been there for the past four years and it has changed my hockey career drastically. I have developed under their program and it has gotten me faster, stronger, and smarter. I could not thank them more for what they have done,” he said. Quercia said he has always followed the advice of his dad to “make the bad things good and make the good things great.” “My strengths have to be that I am a big, strong power forward that has some skill. I also believe I am very smart on the ice. I use that to my advantage to slow the game down,” Quercia said. “I need to work a little on my quickness and speed. It has been my weakest link for my whole hockey career, but it has come a long way. I have improved but there is more to do.” He emulates the San Jose Sharks’ stellar veteran Joe Thornton. “He's been my role model as not just a hockey player, but a person. I admire his style of play and character on the ice. Leader, playmaker, power forward, that's why I model myself after him,” Quercia said. Quercia’s most memorable moment occurred this past season. Upon the conclusion of the Monarchs’ U16 EJEPL season, he was called up to the Premier squad. He scored five points in six regularseason games then contributed another seven points during the Monarchs’ run to the playoff championship.

to remember, committing to North’s Matt Quercia has had a year to head to Sioux Falls (USHL). Boston University and deciding

Sioux Falls Next Stop For BU Recruit “It was such a great experience to be part of a winning team and being called up, after winning the EJEPLjust two weeks before,” he noted. Quercia’s family has supported him throughout. “My dad has been there for me through it all and I could not be where I am without him. After every practice and game he would tell me the good and the bad. I look up to him not just as a player but as a father. My mom and sister are also huge influences driving me and supporting me everywhere I go. They show me what a great support system looks like. They have been by my side my whole life,” said Quercia, who plays the saxophone and is an avid golfer. The HNIB veteran is looking forward to skating for the North Shore entry in the Summer Showcase. “I am hoping to have a great time, playing against some of my friends and winning games. Hopefully North Shore comes out on top,” he said. Then it will off to the USHL in preparation for his career at BU and pursuit of a degree in Business Management with a long-term goal of starting and running his own hockey team.

Ryan Boucher Looks To The North Will Continue Career Up In Canada “I made a team in the CCHL and got offered in the MHL,” said Boucher, a slick 5-9, 165-pound forward who is playing for the Canadian Preps squad making its HNIB debut in this week’s Summer Showcase. “I hope to play somewhat of the same role as I did at Hebron. I know it's going to be a bit faster and more intense, but I'm excited to play at a higher level.”

F

ollowing two stellar seasons at Hebron Academy, Fitchburg, MA native Ryan Boucher is headed north of the border for his PG year in the Canadian Junior A ranks. As of press time, Boucher had yet to make the choice between the Maritime Hockey League and the Central Canada Hockey League.

Boucher tallied 22 goals and 38 points this past season for the Lumberjacks and finished with 36-24-60 totals in his two years at the Maine prep school. Included was a hat trick against Kent’s Hill in his junior year, his most memorable hockey moment. “They were our rivals and every student from their school was there and we had brought fan buses to support us. It was a great game to be a part of,” said Boucher, Hebron’s MVP this past season, and one of the MVPs of last summer’s HNIB Showcase. He admires long-time Detroit Red Wings’ star Pavel Datsyuk, who has returned to his native Russia to play for SKA St. Petersburg, one of the top teams in the KHL. “He carries himself with pride. He is not cocky, and is one of the best players to play in the NHL. He has unbelievable hands and can see the ice very well,” Boucher said. Of his own game, Boucher said: “I have been told by many coaches that my speed and my vision of the ice are my strengths. I feel that I'm very patient with the puck and can create good plays when I see them.” He understands the need to gain strength in order to compete as he climbs the hockey ladder. (Continued On Page 25)

(Continued From Page 24)

“I've always been one of the smaller guys on the ice, but if I add more muscle I will fit right in,” he said. Boucher hails from a family with deep hockey roots. “My dad has had the largest influence on me. He comes from a HUGE hockey family. He always played street hockey with me in the driveway. He never missed a game. He was pretty hard on me growing up when it came to hockey, but I knew he just wanted me to the best I could be. Every time I get on the ice for warm-ups I tell myself I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him having such an influence on me,” Boucher said. Boucher hopes his participation in The Summer Showcase enhances his profile among college coaches. “I hope to get a few more college looks. I have been offered a spot on a couple of Division Three teams and hope to just expand my options,” he said. “I do not have certain schools I am interested in although there are a few I am talking to.”

HNIB Profile Series: Ryan Boucher As serious about academics as hockey, Boucher was a cum laude inductee in 2016 and the recipient of The Hebron Cup, presented to the individual who “represents the finest spirit of scholastic effort, who has in athletics and all school activities shown a high degree of excellence and who has in personal relations with the school shown a commendable

spirit of devotion, high ideals, friendliness, endeavor and responsibility.” “I want to go to a school that has both good academic and sport programs as I take my schoolwork very seriously,” said Boucher, who has not yet settled on a course of study to pursue.

Botticelli Ready To Lead Greater Boston Attack HNIB’s Returning Top Scorer To Prep At Berkshire By Kevin Doyle • HNIB

N

ick Botticelli couldn’t have scripted it any better. His final high school goal, a 30-foot dart from the left wing, delivered a 2-1 OT win for Malden Catholic against rival St. John’s Prep in the Massachusetts Division 1A championship game at TD Garden in March, securing MC’s fifth title in six years.

Greater Boston’s Nick Botticelli scored the OTJ game-winner at Boston Garden to give Malden Catholic the Mass. Super 8 title this past March.

“That was probably the most indescribable feeling I will ever have in my life. Every kid dreams about something like that happening and for it to actually happen was just unbelievable. It’s something that will stay with me for the rest of my life,” said Botticelli, who was the Top Scorer in last summer’s HNIB Major Showcase. “It couldn't have happened without all my teammates either. We did a great job breaking the puck out of the zone and Corey Goldstein made an incredible backhand pass in the neutral zone, which allowed me to get by the defense.” Next up for Botticelli is a PG season at Berkshire, an easy choice as far as he was concerned. “When I went to visit the school I was just blown away with how beautiful it was, and how nice and friendly everyone was. I also became friendly with coach (Dan) Driscoll's sons because I played hockey with them over the summer the past few years so I felt pretty comfortable in the Berkshire environment,” he said. A member of the National Honor Society, Botticelli ranked in the top 15 percent of his graduating class and was a Catholic Conference All-Star in hockey. He feels prepared for the transition to Berkshire, on the ice and in the classroom. “I’m expecting a much faster pace and hardhitting game on the ice where you have to make quicker decisions and be stronger in every aspect of the game. In the classroom, I expect to have a lot more work and do more studying to get myself prepared for college. My teachers at MC did a great job getting me ready to take the next step and I expect the teachers and coaches at Berkshire will do the same,” he said. A willingness to mix it up in the corners and finding the open man are staples of Botticelli’s game. (Continued on Page 28)

ormer St. John’s Prep goaltender Kyle Martin’s choice to attend Phillips Andover – one of the country’s premier prep schools – for his PG year was about much more than hockey and a relatively easy decision. “Andover will give me the chance to further my academic career and open up several more opportunities. After getting to know coach (Paul) Tortorella, I see it as a place I can strive and will have the opportunity to do so. As a 1998 birth year, [having] another year to mature and grow into a more well-rounded hockey player and person is a chance I couldn't pass up,” Martin said. The spotlight first found Martin as a Westford Academy sophomore when he amassed 59 saves in a 3-3 tie against Springfield Cathedral (now Pope Francis). He transferred to SJP for his final two years, emerging as the backbone of Eagles’ teams that won the 2015 Division 1A championship and fell in OT in the 2016 title game. Martin believes his previous experience as a transfer will aid his transition to Phillips Andover.

“My mind set does not change. With every new team, coach, and atmosphere I must prove myself to them and do everything I can to help win games. My work ethic does not alter once getting comfortable on a team so I hope the transition is a smooth one,” he said. “My goal for my post graduate year is to be the best I can be on and off the ice while leading Andover to a playoff spot and ultimately a championship. Although Andover was not a playoff team a year ago I believe we have a strong recruiting class next year and will surprise some people,” he said. Seen, perhaps, as a bit under-sized in today’s pantheon of gargantuan goalies, Martin succeeds with an array of obvious assets. “I consider my quickness and hockey sense to be my biggest strengths. I can see the ice very well and know what a player will be doing before it happens. On the plays I do not read correctly my quickness usually makes up for it. Being a smaller goalie I must rely on other attributes besides just taking up a lot of the net,” said Martin, who registered seven shutouts at SJP. (Continued on Page 28)

(Continued From Page 26)

“Communication is also something I’m good at. Teamwork is very important in the game and I try to encourage my teammates as much as possible,” said Botticelli, a fan of Sidney Crosby’s work ethic and off-the-chart skills. “I feel I need to improve on every aspect of my game to get me to the next level but mostly I need to work on my defensive zone coverage. There is always room for improvement.” While that title-clinching goal in March ranks as Botticelli’s top individual moment, he is honored to have been a four-year varsity player at MC, winning three Super 8 titles along the way. “I was lucky enough to be a part of the MC Varsity Hockey team for four years and making it to the final each of those years. Some kids never get a chance to play in a Super 8 game let alone the final game during their high school careers so for me to be there every year and win it three times is pretty unforgettable,” said Botticelli, who credited his dad Marty for passing along a love of the game and for providing encouragement throughout his career. Botticelli anticipates a competitive week skating with the Greater Boston squad. “They have always had a history of being a good team and always have some of the best coaching so I am looking forward to going far in the showcase with a great group of players,” said.

He is keeping his college options open, seeking the right academic and hockey fit, and plans to pursue a degree in either finance or business management.

Improved rebound control is a particular point of emphasis. “In today's day and age players frequently rely on shooting for rebounds and crashing the net. With every rebound usually comes another scoring chance, which is what I strive to eliminate,” he said.

“In today's day and age players frequently rely on shooting for rebounds and crashing the net. With every rebound usually comes another scoring chance, which is what I strive to eliminate.” - Kyle Martin Martin’s most memorable moment? That would be St. John’s 2-1 Super 8 championship game win against Malden Catholic in 2015 in which he had 35 saves. “It is a moment I will never forget,” he said. There have been no bigger influences on Martin than his immediate family. “Without a doubt my parents, especially my dad (Bill) the first hockey player inducted into the Westford Academy Hall of Fame. He's taught me everything I know. I also look up to my older brother (Jake), who I played two seasons with at Westford. He is currently serving in the U.S. Army in South Korea at the young age of 20,” he said. Martin dons the gear for Middlesex/Merrimack at the Summer Showcase and is looking to “play competitive hockey while meeting new players in the process.” He hopes to continue his hockey career at either a NESCAC school or Division One program and will use his time at Andover to explore and identify a course of study.

Mission Accomplished For Cam Walter By Kevin Doyle • HNIB

A

s he prepares to embark upon his PG year at Cushing Academy, Malden Catholic graduate Cam Walter will always look back on his final high school campaign with a sense of mission accomplished. This summer, Walter will play with the Middlesex/Merrimack entry. After winning four straight Massachusetts Division 1A championships from 2011-14, the Lancers saw their streak snapped by St. John’s Prep in 2015. Walter said MC set the goal of regaining the title from the first day of practice this past season and achieved that objective with a 2-1 OT decision of SJP at TD Garden in March. “Recapturing the State Championship was unreal. It was our goal from day one. MC is very proud of its athletic program and the school was very supportive,” said Walter, who counts “winning two State Championships in the Garden and the awards and accolades that came with it” as his best memories as a player. He called his choice to attend Cushing “a logical decision.” “Playing at the next level is a goal. The opportunity to play for Coach (Rob) Gagnon at such a recognized hockey program while I explore my academic interests was a no-brainer,” said

Walter, who has experience playing in the New England Fall Prep Hockey League (NEFPHL). “I am looking forward to next year’s competition. Academically, I have fulfilled my requirements; a PG year will give me the freedom to experiment.” Walter is a big fan of Massachusetts products Chris Kreider of the New York Rangers, Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres and Cushing graduate Conor Sheary of the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins. Walter, a three-year regular at MC, had seven goals and a dozen points for the defense-first Lancers last season. He said speed and agility are his biggest assets. “Coaches have always told me I am a skilled, physical, hardworking two-way unselfish player,” he said. “I am working on all aspects of my game, both physically and mentally [such as] using my speed effectively, attacking the net, finishing my checks and winning my puck battles.” (Continued On Page 31)

Dante Maribito Has Motivation For Big Year By Kevin Doyle • HNIB

P

roperly channeled, motivation born of frustration can be a powerful thing. Such as the searing disappointment experienced by St. Mary’s of Lynn in its 4-3 double overtime loss to Franklin in the Massachusetts Division 1 State title game at TD Garden in March. The Spartans’ gifted senior forward and top scorer Dante Maribito – who sent the title contest into extra time with the tying goal at 3:55 of the third period – can’t shake the feeling and doesn’t want to experience it again. “Losing that game was the worst feeling I've ever had, to go that far and be one shot away from either being a State Champ, or a State finalist, like we were. Having that experience under my belt will definitely help and motivate me to get back to that position [this] year,” said the Georgetown MA resident, who rang up 21 goals and 43 points a year ago and will be a key cog in the Middlesex/Merrimack lineup this summer. While that loss was his low point as a hockey player, scoring the tying goal ranks as the best. “We were trailing all game and we finally tied it up with this goal. I celebrated and I looked up and saw the entire lower bowl of the Garden had filled up, which was an amazing thing to see and a dream come true scoring in that game,” he recalled. Maribito said the Spartans’ primary goal this season is to compete for the Catholic Central Large championship and earning a post-season berth – “hopefully as a Super 8 team,” he said, based on the overall strength of their non-league schedule. Maribito’s combination of top-end speed to the outside and creativity has him four points shy of 100 career points beginning this season with 46 goals and 50 assists. “I feel my speed is my biggest strength as a player. Trying to get to the net and beat defenders wide with the puck is how I create scoring chances, so my speed is a very helpful tool in trying to do so,” he said. Since centers are regarded as “third defensemen” in St. Mary’s system, he is cognizant of working hard to improve in the defensive zone and, to that end, pays close watch to the Bruins’ Patrice Bergeron. “I've always loved watching Patrice Bergeron play just because of how gifted he is in all zones. He has the skill to score 30 goals and is the best defensive forward in the NHL. I'm trying to become more like him as a player,” Maribito explained. He credited all of his coaches along the way for his development as a player. “I have been fortunate to have a lot of great coaches starting with my first coach in Mites, Heather

King. She made playing hockey so much fun, which I carry with me to this day. Also, (current St. John’s Prep assistant) Scott Hentosh, who has coached me since I was young, and my dad who always has been a coach for me even when he's not on the bench. Coach Mark Lee and the entire coaching staff at St. Mary's have really helped me elevate my game,” Maribito said. He is looking forward to The Summer Showcase. “I know some of the kids on the team just from playing against them in high school. I just want to have a fun weekend of hockey and see if we can win this whole tournament, which would be sweet,” he said Then the focus shifts to forging a successful final campaign with St. Mary’s before heading to the PG or Junior ranks.

- Cam Walter Profile (Continued From Page 30)

He said the unwavering support of his parents has been crucial throughout his development as a player. “My Mom and Dad are always in my corner. They have been excellent role models and would do anything for me,” Walter said. “In the world of hockey, Peter Ferriero has helped me refine my game and athleticism. He has a wealth of knowledge and is continually available for guidance.” This is Walter’s third Summer Showcase appearance. While he knows little about the make-up of the team, he’s looking forward to the week. “I love playing in the HNIB tournament. It's local and I grew up with many of the players. It's a great way to see old friends and make new ones,” he said. Walter is hopeful the Cushing experience helps define his path to college. “I know I am interested in learning more about industrial design and journalism. I plan on exploring courses that will expose me to skills associated with those professions at Cushing next year,” he concluded.

ooking past St. John’s Prep may not be the best approach for Eagles’ opponents this winter. Although SJP graduated significant numbers from its consecutive Division 1A finalists, senior captain and top returning forward Kyle Hentosh is embracing the coming season’s challenge. “Our goals and expectations are always the same and that is to make the Super 8. The ultimate goal is to win another State Championship and if we play like we are capable I see no reason why we cannot reach our goals. We will definitely be overlooked and we are planning on playing to prove people wrong,” said Hentosh, who returns to the North Shore squad this summer at HNIB.

He takes pride in his defense and commitment to three-zone play and is working to improve his overall strength. “My favorite player is Jonathan Toews because of his leadership and three-zone play. He is one of the best all-around players in the NHL. Most importantly, he knows how to win. Stanley Cups, gold medals, world junior medals, he has it all,” Hentosh said. The senior’s most memorable moments are both related to the Super 8 Tournament – winning the championship in 2015 and scoring the quarterfinal series-clinching breakaway goal in double overtime against Burlington last March. Every game we lose can be looked at as motivation and as a way to improve ourselves,” Hentosh said. He is ready for the responsibility inherent with being a captain. “The most important thing I can do is lead by example. hen 14 seniors graduated from Arlington Catholic’s 2015 Division One North Sectional championship squad, the consensus was that 2015-16 would be a transition year for the program. However, long-time coach Dan Shine’s pre-season proclamation that he really liked the chemistry of the club proved prophetic as the Cougars, despite winning just eight regular-season games, clawed their way back to the Sectional title game, falling to Catholic Central League rival St. Mary’s of Lynn. Returning senior defenseman Cam Geary, who is skating for Greater Boston this week, pointed to the Cougars’ commitment to team defense as a prime reason for their success. AC yielded just a tick over two goals per game in the regular season and just five in their post-season run that included shutouts of both Woburn and Winchester. Geary (5-13-18 career) was a premier presence on the back line,

earning Catholic Central League all-star recognition and being named the David Powers Award recipient as AC’s best defensive player. “I think [defense] was a big reason why we advanced that far,” he said, adding that the Cougars’ goal every season is to win a State Championship. “Our expectations this year will be the same.” Now in his fourth varsity campaign, Geary is one of eight returning seniors who will assume leadership responsibilities for AC. “All the seniors take on a leadership role. It will be important for us to pass on what we have learned from past senior players,” he said. Geary, a big fan of the Penguins’ Sidney Crosby, said the strength of his game is a commitment to playing defense first and moving the puck to forwards in transition. His off-season regimen is focused on improving his strength, quickness and speed. AC’s 4-1 win against in-town rival Arlington for the 2015 North Sectional championship ranks as Geary’s most memorable hockey moment. Geary credits his father for being “probably my biggest influence, teaching me just about everything I know about hockey.” An honor roll student, Geary is keeping his options open as he moves forward in his hockey career. He is interested in a number of colleges and plans to study Business.

ollowing a top-shelf career at Fairfield Prep – which culminated with first-team All-State status in Connecticut – Justin Blanchette is headed south for roster spot with the Florida Eels of the USPHL. “My expectations moving from high school to Juniors is to become a much better player so I hopefully can play at the college level,” said the 5-9, 175-pound Blanchette, who had a goal in Fairfield Prep’s 4-2 loss to Darien in Connecticut’s Division I title game in March. Blanchette was an HNIB Unsung Hero Award winner last summer and is skating with the Connecticut/New York team again this week. He is approaching this year’s Summer Showcase for what it is – an opportunity to enhance his marketability.

“My expectations moving from high school to Juniors is to become a much better player so I hopefully can play at the college level,” - Connecticut/NY’s Justin Blanchette

“I know that we have a strong team coming back. I'm looking forward to playing my best hockey and hopefully [will] catch the attention of [college] coaches,” he said. Blanchette admires Washington Capitals’ star Alex Ovechkin for “his speed, physical play and natural goal-scoring ability.” In assessing his own game, Blanchette said: “I feel that I am a good leader and always put my teammates first over anything else. I feel that one thing I always will need to work on is my skating as I jump from league to league. All the players get stronger and faster.” Although Fairfield Prep claimed the Connecticut D1 title when Blanchette was a sophomore, his top memory dates back to his youth hockey days. “We went to Quebec for a PeeWee Tournament and we won. It’s a moment I will never forget,” he said. He has benefited from a strong support system. “The two individuals that have influenced me the most are my father for always pushing me to be the best I can, and my older cousin Billy Vizzo. I’ve always tried to follow in his footsteps and be as good as he is,” Blanchette said of Vizzo, who played for the PAL Jr. Islanders and is headed to AIC. When the time comes, Blanchette plans to pursue a degree in either Business Management or a construction-related field. For now the immediate focus remains generating interest and identifying the best post-Juniors fit.

South/RI’s McElhaney To Pay It Forward This Winter By Kevin Doyle • HNIB

C

ushing’s junior defenseman Nolan McElhaney plans to pay it forward this season by taking on an expanded leadership role for the Penguins. “Last year I learned a lot from the older kids especially my D-partner Matt Dillon. They taught me to always be the leader in the room and always show the younger kids how to improve every day,” he said. “Being a junior and having experience in this league, I will need to lead by example everyday whether it’s a practice or a game and to push everyone to get better every single day.” He said the Penguins will strive to improve on their 20-12-0 record of a year ago that saw them advance to the playoff semifinals where they bowed to eventual Large School champion Thayer, 3-2. “My expectations are to get to the Elite 8 and go deep in the playoffs. Our team needs to play a 200-foot game and pay attention to the little things and that will result in our team being solid defensively. Being strong defensively will lead us to more offense and more success in the upcoming season,” said the six-foot three-inch McElhaney, who hails from Yorba Linda, CA. McElhaney models his game after Florida Panthers’ rising star Aaron Ekblad.

“He is a solid D-man with a great stick, makes good looks up ice, and joins the rush when necessary,” he explained. Of his own game McElhaney cited a strong stick, skating, his first look up ice and knowing when to jump into the play as his strengths. “I need to improve handling my emotions better during games and being more confident with the puck so I can be more of a threat offensively. I also need to get physically stronger, both upper and lower body,” added McElhaney, who said his first game and his first goal at Cushing are enduring memories. McElhaney said his youth hockey coach Darryl Tiveron has been crucial to his evolution as a player. “Darryl taught me most of what I know about the game today. He put me in a variety of situations over my Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget years that challenged me. I made mistakes along the way and Darryl always looked to those as opportunities for teaching moments. Darryl always encouraged all his players to be complete players. I owe Darryl a lot,” he said. McElhaney is looking forward to skating for South Shore/Rhode Island this week, under the direction of Cushing coach Rob Gagnon. “I hope to play well and show anyone who is watching that I can compete at any level. I will do my best to play well. Also, meeting some new players and see how they prepare and compete,” he said Looking ahead, McElhaney said: “It would be a privilege to play for a Hockey East team.” He is interested in engineering, business and accounting.

Bohemia, NY native Jake Leone hopes to open some eyes on the blue line afer a solid campaign with the Long Island Rebels last winter. Goaltending should be a strong point with a pair of juniors Governor’s Academy’s Will Friend, and Kimball Union’s Hugo Turcotte - sharing the duties.

Senior Jared Lavallee has good offensive instincts and is with the Seacoast College Prep program. Also back is Teagan Meehan, ready for a post-grad year after skating last winter with Brewster Academy. Maine native Tyler Wheeler is coming off a nice season at John Bapst HS. Senior Marc Thibodeau is the offensive catalyst and Hampden Academy in Maine. Look for big things from junior Jacob Dubay, who had 19 goals for his Old Town HS squad in Maine last season. Brandon Nale also returns and moves to forward this summer. He put up some

big point totals from the blue line the past few years at Messalonskee HS and moves on to the Islanders HC. Senior Byron Welch is key to the attack at Berwick Academy. The slick Seth Stadheim heads for prep power Kimball Union in the fall to repeat sophomore year after a solid campaign at NH’s Hanover HS. Defensively, cornerstones project to be post-grads Sam Twombly, going to Phillips Exeter after a solid campaign with Berwick last season, and Matthew Fuller, who moves on to the East Coast Wizards after a nice career at Brewster Academy.

Senior Zach Nelson, playing with the Islanders U-18 outfit this winter, and junior Drew Gardner of Maine’s John Bapst HS return to the East Coach blue line lineup. Junior MacKenzie Murphy earned all state accolades last winter at Kennett (NH) HS. Sophomore Leonard Brochu should have a bigger role with Brewster Academy this coming year. In goal, senior Esa Maki hails from the Maine Moose organization. A second netminder was to be added after press time.

Stoneham HS returned to the post-season last winter and big reasons why were senior Eric Roberts and junior Jake Burridge. Arlington Catholic senior Cam Geary (6’2”) will be a rock on the Greater Boston defense. He is a returning Catholic Central League All Star. His HS teammate - junior Patrick Rossetti is ready for a big winter season for the Cougars.

Senior Marc Zampanti helped propel St. Mary’s to the D1 North title. Postgrad Alex Kibrick moves to Winchendon School after a solid career at Mass. D2 power Boston Latin. Senior Cam Francis, a Scituate native, brings his talents, while junior A.J. Sousa (6’2”) of Stoneham HS has that good size. Two forwards instrumental in last year’s success are back in senior Stefano Mallardi, who followed coach from the Palm Beach Hawks to the Islanders, and senior Daniel Hammer, ready for a big winter with the Hawks. Devan Sheth is a local player from Ashland, MA ready for his second season with the Islanders. Joseph Mortillaro, from Lakeland, FL, hopes to impress with the Islanders. Also joining the group are Pennsylvania natives Ryan McNelis and Anthony Giacomin.

TREVOR WOLF

The defense returns solid junior Cam Berube, from right here in Haverhill. He is at Cushing Academy. Junior Trevor Wolf (6’3”) of the Palm Beach Hawks brings good size. Two blueliners coming to play for coach Kyrkostas and the Islanders this fall are Hunter Lyonnais, from Lake Worth, FL., and Ryan Herpy, an Ohio native. South Florida should be solid in goal with Ben Nelson, fresh off a great career with Concord (NH) HS, and Georgis Rentopoulos from Quebec.
