Welcoming Hockaday’s Third Eugene McDermott Headmistress Kim Wargo
Benefiting the Ela Hockaday Fund for Faculty ExcellencE
Saturday, March 3, 2012 The Hockaday School Penson Gymnasium
The ela Hockaday Fund For Faculty Excellence Faculty support is Hockaday’s most significant fundraising priority because excellent teachers enrich our girls’ education and bring a freshness and vitality that is particularly engaging to the young women of Hockaday. Established in 2008, The Ela Hockaday Fund for Faculty Excellence gives Hockaday a competitive edge to attract and retain the best and brightest faculty who help prepare our girls to lead exceptional lives. The Fund supports professional development, graduate studies, faculty salaries, and other compensation. Please join the many Hockaday families — current parents, past parents, alumnae, and trustees — who have made commitments to The Ela Hockaday Fund for Faculty Excellence. Your support is the key to attracting and retaining outstanding faculty who will continue to educate and inspire Hockaday girls for years to come.

Welcome from Kim Wargo
Dear Hockaday Families and Friends, The stars at night will be big and bright on March 3 when we go Deep in the Heart of Hockaday. This event is all about our wonderful teachers, our girls, and the School we love. I am deeply appreciative of the warm and gracious welcome that my family and I have received from the Hockaday community and the great State of Texas. As we prepare to celebrate this evening on our beautiful campus, we are reminded of the educational possibilities this unique surrounding provides our students and faculty everyday. This evening is not only an opportunity for us to enjoy great food, music, and each other’s company in a beautiful setting, it also provides significant financial support for the ongoing professional development and growth of our exceptional teachers. The support from this annual fundraising event ensures that The Ela Hockaday Fund for Faculty Excellence remains a robust and prized asset of our School. All of this would not be possible without the hard work of so many volunteers. Cindy McGeoch, HPA President, has done an amazing job uniting our community throughout the year. Zoé Hart, Benefit Chair, along with her amazing committee, has designed an evening that promises to celebrate all that makes Hockaday special. We are thankful to each of you who have generously contributed time and energy, underwriting dollars, and donations of auction items, as well as all of you who will join us as enthusiastic attendees and bidders. This guidebook gives you a “taste” of what’s in store: Clint Black headlines this truly Texas evening, and we will enjoy a delectable menu of inspired food and drink. I look forward to seeing you Deep in the Heart of Hockaday. Very truly yours,
Kim Wargo Eugene McDermott Headmistress

Welcome from Zoé Hart
Dear Hockaday Parents, Alumnae, and Friends, What a fabulous evening we have planned as we welcome Kim Wargo Deep in the Heart of Hockaday! It has been my absolute pleasure to be a part of this event, working together with old and new friends – all united in the mission to attract and retain the best and brightest faculty. The generosity of the Hockaday community knows no bounds. While this is Kim Wargo’s first year as Hockaday’s third Eugene McDermott Headmistress, she has graciously answered every call we have asked of her. No task has been too small or large; from designing a silver daisy charm to donating her very precious time not once, but twice to tonight’s live auction, Ms. Wargo has embodied the qualities inherent in the Four Cornerstones. Very ably led by Cindy McGeoch, The Hockaday Parents’ Association has supported the Benefit at every turn. Hockaday’s Development Department, in particular Meagan McCracken, our Benefit Liaison, has been nothing short of fabulous to work with. This benefit could not have happened without either organization. Thank you! Thank you also to every member of this absolutely fabulous benefit committee. From the remarkably capable Underwriting Committee, amazing Special Occasions ladies, relentless Big Board and Silent Auction Committees, diligent Data-Entry Team, to my husband’s Clean-Up Committee – every person is vital to the success of this evening. Lastly, none of this would have been worthwhile or fun were it not for the truly talented Hockaday faculty this night’s proceeds support. You are the reason our girls come bounding home every afternoon, full of intelligent questions and so eager to learn. You are the reason we entrust our girls to Hockaday. You make Hockaday the remarkable place it has been, is, and will continue to be. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful community. Enjoy your evening together, and please support The Ela Hockaday Fund for Faculty Excellence. It is the real reason we are here. With gratitude,
Zoé Hart Benefit Chair 2012 Deep in the Heart of Hockaday
