Rosalind Franklin Laboratory
LOCATION SERVICES
Lemington Spa, UK
Experience Design, Experiential Graphics, Wayfinding Signage
Rosalind Franklin Laboratory is one of the world’s largest and most innovative diagnostic facilities, able to process hundreds of thousands of COVID-19 tests a day. The renovated warehouse contains 12 lab lines where testing and research occurs, a welfare space that focuses on the well-being of the employees, and logistics spaces like cold storage for samples.
The driving concept for the wayfinding and graphics was to bring joy and fun to the employees, who are often in the building for long hours. The lab lines are color coded and named after famous scientists to be easily identifiable. Along with color coding the lab lines for visual cues and identification, large scale patterns assist with visual impairments and color-blindness.

Confidential Pharmaceautical Lab + Office
LOCATION SERVICES
Boston, MA
Experiential Graphics, Wayfinding Signage, Experiential Graphic Guidelines
This confidential science and technology client is experiencing incredible growth and, since a number of new employees have never been to the office, they want to update their workplace to entice employees back, help rebuild their culture, establish moments of discovery, and to create purposeful amenities.
The team also framed the experience around new research on neuro-minority inclusive workplace, with attention to offering a range of experiences for those who are either hypo-sensitive, hyper-sensitive, or those who fall in between. What the client had for their brand standards was pretty simple, and we were able to extract out pieces of their identity, what to display and what makes them unique in ways that could be turned up or down depending on where they are used.
Graphics include dimensional application of the DNA strand, patterns that you might see under a microscope, and faux neon installations. Clever easter eggs of their value statements reinforce the feeing of discovery.
Kiewit Power Regional Headquarters
LOCATION
Lexington, KS
SIZE SERVICES

Experiential Graphics, Wayfinding Signage, Storytelling Displays
Kiewit Regional Headquarters for their Power division consisted of a significant renovation to an existing, almost vacant building and the addition of a new office building. At the entry, the affectionately known K-wall greets visitors in an impactful, lowmaintenance way. The use of LED-encased acrylic ties back to the work of the energy provider.
The palette, tone on tone with highlights of yellow, uses materials plant workers would find on site, and linear elements emphasize energy usage. The graphics have become part of a new standards package rolling out to other Kiewit locations. In all, the warm, industrial space creates a clean, collaborative environment for employees to come together.

Four “lab neighborhoods” across 14 levels represent one of Europe’s largest biomedical and translational research centers.
Brand Experience, Signage & Wayfinding
Considering both first-time public and regular visitors, the wayfinding responds to the open-plan layout and the unique adjacency of reseach, medical and lab spaces. Each quadrant is assigned a different compass coordinate, emulating London’s postal code system, and each floor has its own number and color, referencing the graduating color feature walls in the central atrium.
Our masterplans categorize messages by topic and location. We work with project stakeholders to identify authors, owners and content creators. We orchestrate and sequence messages for everyone who might inhabit the space.

Wayfinding Signage
A unified wayfinding design defines the University’s various mixed- use districts—housing, recreation, classrooms, research and development. The signage also interprets the new brand identity. Displays take physical cues from materiality, finish and assembly of the built environment.
For their new campus wayfinding, the university presents a unified system of signage that is intentionally distinct from the rest of the community. Different districts are signaled by unique differences in sign families. Those differences align the sign systems with the architecture of the district in which they stand.
Sign content displays brand and identity within guidelines (fonts, colors, logo usage, brand attributes). Displays take physical cues from materiality, finish and assembly of the built environment.
