Wayfinding, Sign Systems and Graphic Displays Summary
The following pages illustrate the known wayfinding media likely to be needed in the evolving design of this facility. Knowing that digital signage and electronic displays are specified by others, this scheme focuses on the passive messages inside the environment. The plaques and pylons that offer these messages are purposefully minimalist to align with the modernist interior design. The design intent: A modular family of signtypes deployed in a consistent material and repetitive in location. Clean, minimalist, consistent.

Operational Usability
Charles Moore — charles.moore@3-form.com
• Room Insert signs (RRI) revised to match existing design and usability standards • Inserts sizes standardized to quarter page 8.5" x 11" letter size on sign type RRI. • Patient advisories window added to sign type RRI. • See notes on extension of sign type WD and SW on page 36. Color Coding It has been decided to eliminate the use of color bar in the wayfinding system of ProjectOne due to the fact a color coding strategy has not been successfully implemented by OSU. It is a concern that the addition of colors as a visual element on signs may potentially confuse a viewer. Moreover, assigning a unique and specific color per campus building presents an obstacle due to the limited number of identifiable colors. In response, the building name will be incorporated in the header display on large signs and the proposed
Additional Sign Types Sign type WM (Wall Mounted Map) can be used in place of FM (Free Standing Map) in situations where available floor spaces are limited or when an optimal location can not be located. Use wall mounted maps at next logical location or the nearest adjacent wall. Simple insert holders in two sizes as requested by OSU. See sign type IH (letter size) and IL (tabloid size). Typography OSU brand font — Whitney — is used for all wayfinding materials pertaining to ProjectOne. Otherwise, follow existing university typographic rules for all other buildings.
usage of building specific prefix on room signs.
Other Notes
ADA Standards
Unused sign types are purposefully preserved in the document for future references.
Sign types are drawn in compliance with ADA and other safety codes as of date of original issue. Reconfirm and update drawings to ADA standards prior to fabrication. Contact Scott Lisner, University ADA Coordinator for information.
Certain sign types in the wayfinding program are offered but may not be applicable to ProjectOne.
Set screws in construction are to be always omitted when fraction from tight tolerance of routed parts is adequate to secure panels in place. Providing functional prototype for approval prior to fabrication.

Emergency Instructions • Rinse the wound thoroughly with water to clean out dirt and debris. • Then wash the wound with a mild soap and rinse thoroughly. (For minor wounds, it isn't necessary to use an antiseptic solution to prevent infection, and some can cause allergic skin reactions.) • Cover the wound with a sterile adhesive bandage or sterile gauze and adhesive tape. • Examine the wound daily. If the bandage gets wet, remove it and apply a new one. After the wound forms a scab, a bandage is no longer necessary. • Call your child's doctor if the wound is red, swollen, tender, warm, or draining pus.

Systematic Presentation of Pictograms Pictogram System
The retangular facade of the OSU logo graphic leads to the presentation of facility pictograms in square frames. See sample pictogram set below.
Usage of international and universal symbols presented in a visually-consistent, systematic way. The pictograms are individually framed by a 6 x 6 square fabricated with familiar materials as used on the larger freestanding signs. Supplementary legends are assigned to a designated zone either at top or bottom of square.
