Less densely developed than Cancun’s hotel zone that attracts college-aged spring breakers, Riviera Maya is just 30 minutes to the north and much more family-friendly. You can park at a pool, often complete with kiddie slides and attractions, or snorkel and splash in eco-adventure parks and even catch a tour of the Mayan ruins just on the outskirts of the area.

A
survey found that 98 out of every 100 people are unhappy and frustrated with the interior design of their homes.
Navigating the design process can be a challenging task. Pinterist and houzz are great for gathering ideas,, then what? Where do you go from there? How do you pick and choose and stay within a certain budget? I am hired to design interiors for a multitude of reasons; my design experience, to avoid costly design mistakes, or a multisensory space might be requested (a space designed for people with sensory challenges such as Autism, ADHD, Aspergers to name a few), or all of the above. However, when I begin a project, no matter what type of project, commercial or residential, luxury or budget driven, my goal is to create the optimal environment for my clients to thrive and for the space to have a goal. I refer to it as “design with direction.” I believe that love and interior design are one and the same. The space that you live in should enhance and bring out the best in you, it should calm and anchor you, make you feel loved and safe, respect you emotionally and financially, accept and grow with you, share goals, make you smile and meet all your needs. All in all, we deserve to be loved by our home. In order to achieve that “love,” the first item to address is the goal. Where do you want your space to be
Do you have a love hate relationship with your home? 5 years from now? Is it for a growing family or soon to be empty nesters? Playroom today and home office tomorrow? Fast forward 5 years and work backwards. Design the space with the future in mind. Create a mood board of your perfect, dream space. This will help you stay on track when sourcing furniture and décor. Many of us buy things impulsively and then regret when the thrill of the “great find” is in our home and doesn’t match or fit our space. The mood board will keep you on task. Next is budget. Be respectful of how much you can spend. Don’t begin designing your space without an actual figure in mind. This might take time. Create a list of what you’re seeking and attach a number to every item. Then decide what your budget can handle. The smaller the budget, the more patience one needs since you might have to search longer to find sale or well priced home décor. Be true to yourself. Your home should be designed around you and your sensory needs. Don’t design a space unless the décor and furniture “feels” good to you physically and mentally. Buying a red sofa cause it looks great in a cool hotel lobby is a mistake if the color red agitates and makes you anxious. You know your body mentally and physically. Create your space around those needs.

She is the founder of Ddigz.com, an online, affordable design service. She also designs spaces for the sensory challenged population. Rosenberg www.DiMareDesign.com

SPRING CLEANING TIPS
ORGANIZING YOUR CLOSETS STEP #1
Organizing your closet is the first step to organizing the rest of your home. Get rid of unused clothes and accessories. You can even color coordinate your clothes. It will look better and your everyday routine will be easier. 1. The Law of Detachment. Empty the closet; then try on each garment in front of a full-length mirror. Does it fit? How long since you haven’t worn it? Separate pieces into four piles: keep, mend, donate, throw away. Follow the same steps for shoes. Now you can start organizing the keepers, with over-the-door storage and hanging shelves. 2. Create a “look” list. As you try on clothes, create lists for different
seasons and occasions: summer weekends, winter work outfits. It’ll pay off the next time you’re packing for a vacation you’ll be ready. 3. Buy all uniform hangers as it saves space. 4. Organize by ensembles. Then return hangers to the closet so the hooks face out. Once you’ve worn a set, hang them the other way (with the hook facing in). 5. Pack or separate out-of-season items. Wash or dry-clean last season’s gear, then bag or box it and stash out of the way. 6. Use good storage to pack away items. Use labeled, see-through boxes and bins to hold accessories so your pieces will stay damage free — and ready to wear whenever you want them.

More than ever women are searching for a rounded and curvy backside. Brazilian butt lift is on the rise, but what are the options for achieving the curvy backside you are looking for?
acrolene™ is a gel derived from non animal hyaluronic acid and is produced by the Swedish company q-med. It is the same material found in injectables like restylane™ or juvederm™. Macrolene has been on the market in Europe since 2008. It is a semi- permanent product injected in large amounts, with a large needle and lasts on average 12 months. Macrolene is not FDA approved in the USA for butt augmentation and long term effects are unknown. Hydrogel is any gel like substance that is mostly water, like KY gel, JELL-O, and has a small amount of polyacrylamide to give form. Again it is not FDA approved in the USA for butt augmentation. Although considered the cheapest way to get a butt job it is the most dangerous way to do it. Fat injection and buttock implants are currently the only FDA approved methods for buttock augmentation in the USA. Buttock implants: The procedure is done under general anesthesia, the surgeon makes an incision in your butt crease,
between the buttock cheeks and inserts the implant under the gluteus maximus muscle. The implants are made of silicone and adjusted under the muscle to give you the buttock projection. This procedure has a very high complication rate, greater than 80 %, including infection, fluid collection, extrusion, scar tissue, nerve damage, asymmetry etc. Results can be seen immediately, but it may take 6-8 months for the implants to feel natural and part of your body Fat injections or fat transfers: Butt Augmentation with fat transfer is also called BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT. It involves removing your own fat thru liposuction in multiple body areas and then decanting or centrifuging the fat and using just the fat cells to re-inject in the butt for augmentation. Fat is usually harvested from the abdomen, flanks, back and thighs. The Brazilian butt lift offers basically two procedures in one. Patients enhance their buttocks using their own body fat and also remove any unwanted fat from other body
parts. Some fat reabsorption will occur following the procedure (about 30 %), but the surviving fat will result in a smooth, natural looking, and plumper backside. The ideal candidates for the Brazilian Butt lift are in good health, don’t smoke and have realistic expectations. The length of the procedure will depend on the amount of liposuction to be done. Complications are fat reabsorption (about 30%), fat necrosis, asymmetry, infection, bleeding and scarring. During recovery you will experience soreness in the treatment area where the fat was harvested. You should use a cushion to sit on for about 3 months and a garment for the liposuction areas. The results for fat transfer are permanent after 3-6 months when all the swelling is gone. Keep in mind, if you decide to lose weight later on, you may lose fat in your buttock as well. Please look for a board certified plastic surgeon to give you the butt you are looking for and say no to the non surgical options.

Ayurvedic Approach to Seasonal Allergies In this season, allergies affect a large percentage of the population and can significantly limit our daily activities. Although the body can manifest allergic reactions to many things, including food, medicines, and other external agent, in this article we will discuss the common phenomenon of environmental or seasonal allergies. You may wonder why one person can spend an afternoon walking through blossoming fields without any symptoms, while others can’t step out the front door without experiencing severe allergic symptoms. Heredity is one of the major distinguishing factors. However, from an Ayurvedic perspective, there are three influential factors and treatments to consider when dealing with seasonal allergies: 1) Strength of the individual’s digestive fire – this is one of the most important factors for our health where we take in energy and information from our environment, extract whatever is beneficial to us, and eliminate everything we don’t need. Ways to increase our digestive fire are: a. Meditation - When we calm the mind and body, we are less likely to respond to external agents aggressively while increasing our ability to take in nourishment from our environment. b. Conscious Breathing - Take an inhalation
that is slightly deeper than normal. With your mouth closed, exhale through your nose while constricting your throat muscles. This has a balancing influence on the entire cardiorespiratory system and helps release feelings of irritation and frustration. c. Detoxify your Body – One Ayurvedic herb that is helpful in treating allergies by cleansing the digestive tract and removing toxins is Triphala. 2) Reduce absorption of external allergens - We are in constant dynamic exchange with our external environment. When our environment has high exposure to allergens, it becomes difficult to control symptoms. A simple way to reduce possible effects is: a. Use a neti pot - This container will allow warm salt water to flow in one nostril and out the other. Perform this saline rinse once or twice daily to flush out any material that has come into the nasal passages. b. Lubricate your nostrils – This Ayurvedic practice known as “nasya” consists of applying a few drops of vegetal oil to the nasal passages. The oil forms a protective layer that prevents allergens from attaching themselves to the nasal membranes. 3) Balance your “dosha”– Follow a dosha pacifying diet according to your unique mind-body constitution. Find out your dosha by visiting: http://www.jothivita.com/dosha

Is it good enough?
Cost? Choices? By: Neeta Mitroo, MD J B Mitroo, MIE
What is Non-surgical Facelift?
With aging, we lose fat and collagen under the skin, showing the appearance of wrinkles, depression & folds. Over time, the skin starts sagging and the face starts looking old. For people with lot of sagging, a surgical facelift may be needed, but for most people a good Non-surgical or “Liquid” facelift” by a good aesthetic physician can make you look and feel years younger. This involves a combination of injections of neurotoxin, like Botox, Dysport or Xeomin and dermal fillers, like Restylane & RestylaneSilk, Juvederm, Radiesse, Belotero Balance, Voluma or Sculptra volumiser. Here, we will discuss the facelifts involving these injectables
What
are these injectables & how long do they last? These are “beauty” injections for smoothing out or reducing wrinkles, folds & depressions from the face and, to some extent, from the neck. These are:
• For moderate to medium wrinkles and depressions: We need Botox, Dysport or Xeomin combined with dermal fillers Restylane, Radiesse, Juvederm, Belotero, Sculptra or Voluma. • The result of these products lasts about 5 to 9 months, depending on individual skin condition, how deep the folds are and age, general health and lifestyle of the person. • For immediate results, Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse and Belotero & Voluma are often used. • For longer lasting result, SCULPTRA volumiser is can be used. It can last 2+ years. It costs a little more initially, but in the long run, it evens out. The Sculptra results look natural and skin quality also improves due to increased collagen production.
Is it
good enough? For the cost and the result, compared to the far more expensive surgical facelift
alternatives, non-surgical facelifts are definitely worth it. However, select the physician carefully, making sure she or he has done several of these facelifts with good results. An artistic attribute is also important in addition to the medical expertise. One such physician is Neeta Mitroo, MD at Sitara Medi Spa, on East Commercial Blvd. in Ft. Lauderdale.
facelift will last much longer. We have not considered the price of any wrinkle reduction by Botox, Dysport or Xeomin in the above pricing estimates, as requirement of these may be different for each individual.
What are
How
much will it cost? Essentially, it depends on two factors: (1) How much quantity of the injectables you need and (2) What is the cost of the injectables. Typically, the cost can be about $1500 and higher, depending on how many syringes of the injectables are needed. For Sculptra facelift, the starting cost, with 2 vials, can be $1300 to $1500. By taking 2 more vials in about 4-6 weeks, the result will get extended to 2+ years. Whereas the dermal-filler facelift will need repeat treatments every about 6-9 months, the Sculptra
your choices? Frankly, it depends on whether you need immediate results or gradual longterm results. For immediate result, ask the physician about dermal-filler facelift. For long term results, ask about Sculptra facelift. Consulting a good physician is important. For excellent results at very affordable prices, call Sitara Medi Spa at 954237-6646. They have their lowest price sale going on now, to give you very low prices for facelifts. Dr. Neeta Mitroo is Board Certified in two specialties and has 15 years’ expertise in aesthetic medicine. And yes, she is also an artist & paints in her spare time. That helps her in getting pleasing, well-proportioned results on a face.

Are Dental Problems
Hereditary
S
ome dental problems are hereditary, such as cleft lip and palate, having extra teeth or missing teeth, incomplete formation of the enamel or the dentin, malocclusion, the shape and size of teeth and periodontal disease (gum disease). However, dental decay (caries) and periodontal disease (gum disease), which are the main causes of tooth loss, are both treatable conditions if treated on time. They are caused by bacteria living in your mouth. It is true that there is a “host-susceptibility factor” which may be hereditary, but if the dental plaque is removed, and there is no sugar in your mouth for the bacteria to grow, decay is not there! On the other hand, Periodontal Disease is harder to control because “it does not hurt.” The bone loss slowly progresses and
causes tooth mobility and tooth loss.
Many of our parents and grandparents did not grow up with fluoride in the water nor went to the dentist to “prevent” dental disease. Most of them went to the dentist when they already had pain, or when it was too late to save the tooth. Many of them have dentures because dentistry was “treatment based” not “prevention based”. We have early detection. We have digital x-rays, fluoride in the water, toothpaste and salt, electric toothbrushes, intraoral cameras, the Internet to learn about diseases and conditions, and more. So, more than thinking that our dental problems are “hereditary”, we must think that the hygiene habits and the prevention of dental disease are two good things that we “pass onto our children.”
Many times patients tell me that having loose or bad teeth “runs in the family.” They describe that either their parents or grandparents have had the same condition, therefore it must be hereditary. Children learn a lot of things from their parents, the good and the bad. If the parents do not value dental health, are afraid of the dentist, or say “I hate going to the dentist!” the child will probably do and say the same thing. This is not hereditary. These are learned behaviors. Good dental hygiene habits (or the lack thereof) can also be learned from parents. (We truly are great influences on our children!) So, we don’t have to blame our parents or grandparents for their “bad genes.” Toothbrushes and toothpaste are available for most people and tooth loss can be prevented. We believe that “Prevention is cheaper and better that treatment.” Therefore, we encourage patients to come for regular visits, accept preventive and educate themselves about dental health.
E
Por/By: Nancy Esteves
”
-¿Cómo equilibras tu hogar y tu carrera? ¡Me encanta cantar y bailar!
Roselyn Sanchez
This Puerto Rican Diva, best known for her current role in the hit series “Devious Maids” has it all—fame, fortune and the perfect family.
“
It all started with her dream of having a singing part on Broadway. At age 21, after having been host of a popular Puerto Rican comedy-variety show, Qué Vacilón and winning the Miss Puerto Rico Petite and Miss America Petite pageants, Roselyn moved to the Big Apple in search of that dream.
I
t was actually in New York that Roselyn learned English and even though she struggled with the language that did not stop her from rising to fame. There she landed a role on the famous soap opera, “As the World Turns” where she portrayed the first Latino character of the show. Her stunning looks, talent, passionate personality and lots of hard work made an even bigger dream come true—Hollywood stardom. Roselyn has had numerous leading roles including: FBI agent Elena Delgado in the CBS police procedural “Without a Trace”, and as Carmen Luna in the Lifetime comedy-drama “Devious Maids” and the Spanish sitcom “Familia En Venta’. In film, Rosalyn has appeared in “Rush Hour 2,” “Boat Trip,” “The Game Plan,” and “Act of Valor,” as wells as many others. On the music front: Her first single “Amor Amor” from her debut album in 2003 was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Music Video. Roselyn returned to music in 2013, releasing “Pick Up Your Game,” teaming up with rapper Flo Rida. But all the fame and fortune is usually not complete unless you have someone to share it with and she has been blessed with that too. She is married to the gorgeous Eric Winter, an actor best known for his television roles as Rex Brady in the soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” and in “Brothers & Sisters,” “The Mentalist” and “GCB”. They have an amazing daughter named Sebella Rose who will most probably follow her parents’ footsteps. The nicest thing about Roselyn is that she shares her good fortune. Roselyn loves animals and is very involved in animal protection, in particular abandoned and abused dogs from Puerto Rico (PetSOS). She also is “Godmother” of The San Jorge Children’s Foundation helping kids with cancer. And this actress, singer, dancer and philanthropist still holds on to that dream….Broadway!
”
Interview with Rosalyn Sanchez: -What do you like most about being a Latina? RS: I love everything about being a Latina, what it represents. In my case as a Puertorican, the mixture of races is incredible. It means diversity, creativity, vitality, flavor, strength and beauty. -What has been your favorite role on TV? RS: My favorite role is the one I’m playing now, Carmen Luna in Devious Maids. She’s three-dimensional and a lot of fun to play. -Of all the different hats you wear in your career, which is your favorite? RS: My favorite hat in my career is the philanthropic work I do in my country. This business has given me a voice to be able to help children and animals. My two passions. -How do you balance your home and busy career life? RS: The only way to balance career and family is having undivided support from my husband, my family, my team and my friends. It’s not easy but definitely doable if you organize yourself and JUST DO IT. -What’s your favorite beauty secret, or secret to looking so young? RS: I don’t drink or smoke and never go to bed with makeup. -What’s Your Mantra? RS: DIOS conmigo y yo con EL (GOD with me and me with HIM). -Who has been the most inspiring person in your life? RS: My mother. -What words of wisdom would you share with young aspiring Latinas? RS: Have a clear vision of who you are, what you want and never doubt. Strength and wisdom will get you through. -Will your daughter Sebella Rose be bilingual? RS: I definitely want her to be bilingual. As of now it’s working and she speaks both. -How do you celebrate the Latino culture with your family? RS: I’m lucky to have a husband that even though he is American from Los Angeles, he loves the Latino culture. He adores Puerto Rico, loves our food, our music, our costumes.... He actually thinks he’s Latino! So we celebrate our heritage every day. -What’s your favorite Puerto Rican food? RS: Mofongo relleno de pulpo! -What’s on the agenda for your music career? RS: Music for me is a hobby! I love singing and dancing! My goal is one day to be able to do musical theater in NY. Broadway is a priority for me, so that’s where I want to sing again. -Do you have any other upcoming shows in the near future? RS: It’s all about Devious Maids right now but I’m developing projects with my husband for TV so yes, many, good news coming soon God willing.

Andrea Bocelli: Concierto del Día de San Valentín en el Hard Rock Live Por/ By: Nancy Esteves
U
I Will Always Love You”. Can’t Help Falling in Love”. ¡Bravo!
Andrea Bocelli’s Valentine’s Day Concert at the Hard Rock Live One of the greatest voices on earth, world renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli serenaded fans with his romantic classical opera arias and popular love songs during his Valentine’ s Day concert at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. In a beautiful setup, Bocelli put on his usual stellar performance and was backed up by a Bella Musica Orchestra (close to 80 musicians), and an impressive choir of about 50, the Master Chorale of South Florida. His special guests, Soprano Ana Maria Martinez and Tony and Grammy winner Heather Headley stun the audience with their powerfully awesome voices. One of the highlights of the evening was Headley’s rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” Aside from his opera classics, he sang Elvis Presley’s “Love Me Tender,” and a magical duet with Headley on Presley’s song “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” His rendition of “Granada” was just sensational. A very cute Bocelli moment was when he brought his lovely 3-year-old daughter, Virginia, to join him onstage – and joked “she’s heavy.” Bocelli closed with “Nessun Dorma,”a Luciano Pavarotti song. Boy can he hold a note! Just magnificent …..Bravo!

Serving you since 1984… Mariel Boat Lift 1980, 126 thousand Cuban’s abandon the communist island in a massive exodus. The Vilariño family were among the fortunate to make it through the turbulent stretch and reach the land of the free. After years of hardship the family was determined to make the American dream come true. In 1984 Antonio, his wife Nilda and five daughters bought their first restaurant, Las Vegas in Hollywood. While Antonio learned to cook, Nilda and the girls catered to loyal patrons providing personable service, which has proven to be a drawing factor in their enduring success. Shortly thereafter, Las Vegas became known as the Cuban hot spot in Hollywood, guaranteeing customers authentic Cuban dishes and the friendliest service in town. Today with many more restaurants, the family continues to offer the same quality service, food and atmosphere that attracted locals for the past twenty years. “ Our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers & this beautiful country for allowing our family to pursue our dreams”

Keeping up with the
Techies
FCC Passes Net Neutrality
The Internet will now be an equal playing field as the FCC just passed a new regulation that provides equal speeds and access to all websites. Prior to Net Neutrality, network owners could pick and choose which websites would receive faster Internet speeds and some sites were even blocked entirely. Websites could also pay network owners higher rates for better connections. Needless to say, there is plenty of controversy surrounding this regulation. The FCC will now have jurisdiction over Broadband given that it will be governed using the same rules as Telephone service with its reclassification as a Title II telecommunications service. The agency’s decision is intended to create a fair and equal environment for all websites, big and small.
New Black Hole Discovered
Astronomers have just discovered a new massive black hole that is 12 billion times larger than the sun. In fact, this new black hole is 2,400 times larger than the hole we have in our Milky Way galaxy. This revelation challenges the law of physics as we understand them today. Scientists are stumped by the age and size of the black hole in relation to the Big Bang. A hole that large shouldn’t be possible given the time it’s had to develop since that momentous explosion. The question is: can black holes grow at a faster rate than originally thought? Or perhaps black holes existed before the Big Bang when the first galaxies were formed. Only time and more research will tell…
Lincoln MKC The new Lincoln MKC is not only visually stunning; it’s also incredibly smart and innovative. One of the MKC’s most impressive features is the Adaptive Cruise Control. With this additional safety measure you can relax on those long trips knowing that the vehicle will automatically slow down when cars are within the desired proximity. Once the road opens back up, the MKC will resume the preset speed and continue on your journey. Another available feature that’s pushing the envelope is the Collision Warning with brake support. With this enhanced technology the MKC can alert you of a potential front collision with flashing lights on the windshield and a warning chime. If you don’t react immediately the brakes will pre-charge for added responsiveness once you do.
YouTube Kids app
This kid-friendly app lets parents rest easy while kids enjoy their favorite educational video content. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices. The shows, music and cartoons available on YouTube Kids are organized into simple categories that are easier to navigate than standard YouTube. Parents have plenty of safety controls with features like timers, passwords and locks. The app is also void of any comments and social engagement buttons since the environment is meant strictly for safe video consumption. You’ll find both YouTube original content as well as the TV shows and songs your children know and love.

guess blondes do have more fun. You would never catch a silky blonde Maltese like me in a lab. Maybe on a lap but never in a lab. Thank God for small favors. The Maltese and the Beagle have two things in common. The first white Maltese exhibited was entered at the first Westminster show in 1877 as a Maltese Lion Dog and Maltese dogs were hunters and larger in the past. A Beagle Miss P won this year at Westminster and they fox and rabbit hunt to this day. I just don’t get some humans who get pleasure out of seeing a helpless innocent small animal be hunted down. I guess lack of imagination. The Maltese dog became smaller when breeders kept them in too small of a cage like farmers today do to pigs. Oink Oink to all the cruel members of society. Actor Joaquin Phoenix has an active petition circulating to help the piggy’s http://www.walmartcruelty.com. I find it ironic that the dog breed most used in animal research because of their gentle nature won the Westminster Dog Show for the same attributes. I hope they make a contribution to the Beagles’ Freedom Project. Product and drug testing account for 68% of tests on Beagles. Don’t you find it strange that anyone with money and power can fool you to use drugs that have worse side effects than Pot and fool you to vote for criminals because they can afford to take this little piggy to market? Are we all going to continue to be fooled when 106,000 people die yearly from the very drugs tested safe on animals? It’s all about the Mean Green $$$. Oh and please don’t dye your pets green this St. Paddies Day they could get poisoned. We like our natural color thank you very much!
We just downloaded the Cruelty Cutter App. All you do is scan an item with your phone and receive an immediate response about its animal testing status. Read more about it at Beagle Freedom Project. Download to donate! Your app purchase helps raise funds for Beagle Freedom Project, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to freeing beagles and other animals from testing labs, giving them a second chance at life! Please help Free the Beagles at http://www.beaglefreedomproject.org/get_involved There is no reason why today’s science cannot use alternative to animal testing methods, they can be generated and explored. Check out Fund for the Replacement of Animals in Medical Experiments and Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing at John Hopkins University and at this PETA link http://www.peta.org/issues/ animals-used-for-experimentation/alternatives-animal-testing/ My Mommy loves designer makeup until she found out they test on animals. Hopefully they will fashion forward into the no testing on animals generation soon. Scan that green eye shadow and nail polish with your new app before you turn into a Leprechaun. What’s up with The Miami Heat
By: Alina Amaral
If the NBA season ended today, the Miami Heat would be in the NBA playoff as the 7th seed! Making the playoffs would be monumental after the Wade injuries, mid-season slump, and Bosh’s illness which will keep him off the court for the rest of the season. They would play the Toronto Raptors, who today would be the weak 2nd seed. But, the season does not end today, and there are other possible post-season scenarios. The “one” that would make it the most watched first-round series, would be if Miami played Cleveland and Lebron James in the first round, which is very possible. Cleveland is hot and may move up to a 2nd seed. And hopefully Miami can hold on to the 7th position with a healthier Wade, our new star Hassan Whiteside, the Heat’s newly acquired Dargic as well as Haslim, Anderson, Deng staying focused on both offense and the Heat’s signature defense. Go HEAT!!!!!!
