Happiness at home Live-in care offers you a way to remain independent at home while receiving care and support from a familiar face. It is the perfect solution if you simply want the confidence of having someone with you for company and companionship. We are the UK’s leading provider of care in the home and a Live-in care arrangement is an extension of our highest quality care service. With our Live-in care option you will receive the same highly personalised, flexible and responsive support that we are famous for, with support when and how you need it. Let’s face it; if age finds you lonely or needing assistance with daily activities, you may think that moving into residential care is the only option. It doesn’t have to be that way. We can provide care for you in your own home, where you stay connected to your family, friends and local community, in a costeffective way that is practical for everyone. Family can be reassured that your needs are being taken care of while you continue to live in your familiar surroundings with your most treasured possessions and memories.

How Live-in care works Like all Home Instead Care plans, Live-in plans are designed by a Care Manager, and based on your loved one’s specific requirements. All Care plans are built upon our relationship-based care model, which is second to none in the home care sector. Our CAREGiver lives with your loved one, and is on active duty for up to 49 hours a week. They provide your loved one’s care as and when it is needed, as the sample timetable below shows.

Services

(The services listed below are by way of EXAMPLE ONLY) 8am to 11am Companionship, breakfast preparation, light exercises, personal care and housework. 1pm to 3pm Lunch preparation, clear-up, card games, crosswords, other indoor activities. 5.30pm to 6.30pm Dinner preparation, medication reminder, tidy up after meal. 8pm to 9pm Personal care, assist to bed, companionship.

Team Support Arrangement: Sometimes, your level of care needs may be such that we need to provide a team of CAREGivers who follow a shift pattern of Live-in care. This means that someone is always dutifully attending to your needs. This level of care is suited to those who might need more attentive care around the clock.

Home Instead Live-in care – a new option for home care Yorkshire has a really strong sense of place. Within the borders of the historic county of Yorkshire are vast stretches of unspoiled countryside. This can be found in the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors and with the open aspect of some of the major cities. Yorkshire has also been nicknamed ‘God’s Own County’, and is therefore a very special place to live. Yorkshire folk have strong ties to their local communities. To continue living independently at home with the support of a qualified CAREGiver is just the tonic needed to maintain independence. Live-in care is affordable and flexible to meet your specific needs.

Dedicated Live-in care team Our Care Manager will work with you to create a tailored package to suit your needs. We like to take a little time to ensure we find the best CAREGivers for you. Care is provided by two dedicated CAREGivers working in rotation. This may be four days on, four days off, for clients looking for support seven days a week. We can also provide additional support for overnight care if that is appropriate. Every care package is totally unique to the individual and depends on the level of care required.

Compassionate CAREGivers Our award winning care comes down to our team of trained and experienced CAREGivers. We take time to select empathetic, enthusiastic people with a big heart and warm friendly nature. All of our CAREGivers are employed by us meaning that we take full responsibility for the care we deliver, unlike an introductory agency. Our CAREGivers undergo a comprehensive recruitment and selection process, including interviews, reference checks and an Enhanced Criminal Record Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service. We train all of our CAREGivers, regardless of previous experience, through our induction programme, the Care Certificate and ongoing training in all aspects of care provision.

Local support We have been based in York since 2009. Our team is nearby to deal with any issues that may arise and will visit every week to check in on each of our clients and CAREGivers.

Home Instead have been caring for my mother over the last year and have done a wonderful job. They took great care to choose a carer who they knew my mother would get on well with and relate to. Gillian

Some of the considerations you need to take into account when thinking about Live-in care: It is worth pointing out that Live-in care involves a few requirements which form the basis of the arrangement. For example, you will need to: ■ Understand our Average Daily Hours Agreement, what this means and what may happen if the agreement is compromised. This will all be explained during the care consultation. ■ Only ask your CAREGiver to undertake work as defined within your care plan and within the number of hours agreed. ■ Provide a separate room for the CAREGiver to sleep in, including bedding. ■ Offer access to a television and internet. ■ Provide meals and drinks, or agree to a budget for this. This should be the equivalent to 3 meals per day but doesn’t included snacks, ‘luxury’ items or alcohol. ■ Understand your CAREGivers are not allowed to act as signatories or witnesses to any legal documents or paperwork. ■ Ensure CAREGivers have daily rest periods.

■ We will talk through the different options available and what would be the best recommendation for your individual circumstances. We try to provide flexible solutions for clients. This may be Live-in care, 7 days a week, or Monday to Friday support for working families, daytime support or just overnight cover.

A recent survey conducted by YouGov shows that more than

9 out of 10 (92%) of people

aged 65 and above agreed that:

“People would prefer to be supported at home, rather than in a care home.”

What we will do for you Your loved one will have their own needs. That’s why we developed a tailored Live-in care service that takes into account individual clients and their family’s needs as a whole. You might just need somebody to pop in and provide company, or you might be looking for someone to provide support with nutritious meals, getting washed and dressed and mobility. Our Live-in CAREGivers are handpicked to match our clients based on personality and interests and you will have the ultimate decision of who becomes your Live-in CAREGiver.

What is next? The first step towards Live-in care is arranging a care consultation with us. We’ll send one of our registered managers to your loved one’s home who will chat with you, and any other relatives about what you believe you need from a care service. This is the chance for you to get to know Home Instead, and for us to hear what your expectations are. Chances are, Live-in care is a new concept to you. That’s why we want to talk you through the different options available and make the best recommendation for your individual circumstances.
