Editorial Here′s to a year of normality! What the world has experienced in 2020 is nothing short of shocking. A massive halt to the operational cogwheels whose performance we took for granted. Countries came to a halt, people were locked in, schools closed down, businesses were forced to reshape their operations or seize to exist. In hindsight, a shock to the system is an understatement. The success of the human race is pinned to its ability to adapt. Any being that could not do so in the past, faced extinction. In a very short time humanity managed to come to terms with a new reality that presented various limitations. Behind every challenge a hidden positive was found and treasured. Locked at home? More quality time with family! Less conventional business? More alternative business! More downtime? More strategic thinking and work-life balance. This has now become an opportunity to give us a solution for what we constantly grumble about. While the Maltese model of facing the pandemic was/is surely not flawless, it remains a very valid and enviable one. All things equal, Maltese people enjoyed a good and balanced lifestyle with a measure of contained disruption to their daily lives, routines and requirements throughout the past 9 months. Property sales were no exception. National numbers and values registered were above that of 2019. The idea of starting Homes of Qu Malta was in its infancy. There were only

Back then, Frank Salt Real Estate sold all types of properties, depending on the requests and needs of their clients. This continued successfully for several years and Frank Salt became well known for professionally and successfully serving a broad spectrum of clients, both Maltese and foreign. In 2002 the company decided to establish a specialised sector dealing with a more discerning and increasing client base, both Maltese and foreign in origin. This was not necessarily clients wanting to spend more money but clients who needed a more discreet and personal service.

This company also had to specialise in the sale of unique properties to these clients, who warranted superior top-end service. To facilitate this, a different name was chosen for this company: it even had to have a different style of office and sales agents, someone with a more sophisticated and experienced approach when promoting a different type of property. Up to this point all of Frank Salt Real Estate’s offices were designed in such a way as to be smart and attractive but not overpowering, so that the general public were always very comfortable in using them as their estate agency of choice. The point of difference with Homes of Quality was that their particular client base was well travelled, sophisticated and definitely discerning to the point where they expected the same level of superior service everyone they did business with, especially estate agents.

Homes of Quality’s first manager was Tessa Pisani - a smart, professional and career-driven individual. After her tenure Grahame Salt took over the company and he remains at the helm to this day. Due to healthy growth, in 2018 Alex Papagiorcopolo was appointed as the current general manager. The decision to establish Homes of Quality more than 16 years ago as part of the Frank Salt Real Estate Group was an excellent move: not only was it the right decision at the right time, but recognising the diversity of its clients and their needs has underscored the professional and ethical ethos of the Frank Salt Real Estate Group as a whole.

So the decision to bring Homes of Quality to life as the upper-end arm of business for Frank Salt Real Estate was perfectly timed. Producing a full carbon fiber bracelet required the manufacture to take on an entirely new set of technical challenges. Weighing a mere 65 grams in total with its carbon bracelet and titanium clasp, the DEFY Classic Carbon sets a new benchmark of precision for Zenith that extends beyond the movement. In relative terms, it weighs almost half as much as an equivalent DEFY Classic model in titanium with a bracelet in the same metal, which is already significantly lighter than traditional metals like stainless steel and gold. Its

intriguingly nuanced appearance gives way to a sensation that’s unexpectedly silky and smooth to the touch. It’s incredibly light but balanced weight makes it easy to forget that one is wearing a watch at all. Following the angular lines of the DEFY Classic case that’s made in the same material, each link in the bracelet is a piece of solid carbon fiber, molded and milled with precision in such a way that it highlights the layers or “strata” of the carbon fiber, while providing superior ergonomics on the wrist. Its lightness, comfort and visual impact are bound to intrigue. Because the patterns are layering of carbon fiber can differ from one component to the next, no two watches will be exactly alike.
