Editorial A NEW BEGINNING This is the first time in a very long time (since March 2020) that we can truly say that we are back to living life to the full, albeit with some minor restrictions which are basic precautionary measures aimed at ensuring that we are able to take corrective action should we sense any danger ahead. Covid-19 is truly an eye-opener. Never would we have thought that a virus could bring the world to its knees and preclude us from enjoying our family and friends. With Malta achieving herd immunity way ahead of other countries and with the lifting of most mitigation measures, it just feels great to be able to socialise round a table and to see most shops, restaurants and streets come back to life. Large gatherings still remain prohibited, but we are already moving towards permissible crowds of up to 200 people by August and if the outcome remains positive, I am confident that larger numbers will be acceptable shortly thereafter. Tourism is once again very active and many countries are opting for Malta as their summer 2021 destination. A ″new norm″ and attitude towards life on the rock is in full force and whilst caution remains a top priority (which is why masks remain obligatory in most places, temperature checks and hand sanitizing of utmost importance), we can certainly say we are on the right track. The hotter months can now be enjoyed in good company and whilst most will want to be out and about after all these months away from retail shops and restaurant tables, home has now become an important sanctuary where we can enjoy time with family ...and now also with friends, achieving the great life balance we were accustomed to nearly a year and a half ago. This edition of Refined Living brings you some of the nicest properties that are able to offer just that: a fantastic space to enjoy when you want to stay put and a perfect place to welcome you back after your day out.
