Our Dinner Parties are twice a month on Wednesday night at 7:30pm and not just for Sheffield but for the whole region of South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. They are for all ages and for whatever life group you represent from late singles and young families to empty nesters as well as youth. Everyone’s included. Food was a big part of Jesus’ life and it’s a big part of our journey to belonging. Even when He was about to leave this earth, He had a last supper with His disciples! Food relaxes you a lot; and we want you to feel like you can relax, find space to be you, allow others to really get to know you and have confidence to express yourself freely. Our Hackenthorpe Dinner Party is led by Graham and Maria. They have been an integral part of the Church and Pastoral Care team for the past 15 years. This Dinner Party is one of our family Dinner Parties where both parents and kids attend. Due to this, the Dinner Party meets at a slightly earlier time so the kids can still get home for bedtime.

This DInner Party was launched summer 2018 as we have more and more people from the Ecclesall Road area connecting into the life of the Church. It has an excellent mix of people from different backgrounds and ages all coming together. Dilly and Ngozi serve as part of our Sunday Connections team and are passionate about helping people connect into the life of the Church.

Once a month on a Wednesday night at 7:30pm, we all congregate in the Auditorium for a fresh juice and natter, then head for one of our eight Growth Track Courses. Most of the courses are on a three-month rotation so you can start anytime and then complete the final two nights. There’s no need to book-in online for any of our courses. Simply turn up. The vision of our Growth Track is to help you to grow strong in your faith journey. We want to give you both practical help and life skills as well as give you simple step by step solutions to some of life’s complexities. By building a foundation of God’s Word and with the fires of prayer burning, you’ll grow in ways you never thought you could. Here’s what’s on offer: The Welcome Party, Recovering You, Alpha Course, Discovering Partnership, Lifestyle Courses, Bible Courses, Open Heaven Prayer and Discovering You. This party comes in two parts over two Wednesday Growth Track nights. You can join the party any Wednesday night you wish. It’s for anyone who is new or feels ‘newish’ to the church and is a chance to meet other new people over fresh canapes. On the first night, you’ll hear stories from some of the key people and personalities of Hope City and hear about the unfolding story of the church from its beginning. Our Recovering You courses are split into two - Recovering You for men and Recovering You for women. They are a three part course running once a month for three months and you can join any month you want and then continue with the final two parts. These nights are for anyone who feels like their journey in life has been more difficult than it should have been - or if you feel like you just need a good ‘MOT’. We’ll be looking at all of the big issues like anxiety, depression, life choices and habits, as well as issues like posttraumatic stress and trauma. We’ll also be finding both the gold in you and the gold in your God and getting you back into a life of wholeness and adventure. 3. ALPHA COURSE This multimedia course is either for people who want to discover more about the Christian Faith, or for those who have decided to follow Jesus and want to know more. This course will help put you in the best position to grow in strength through knowing more about Jesus, the Bible, the Holy Spirit and the journey of living by faith. Charlene

6. BIBLE COURSES

We have two Bible Courses running concurrently: the Big Bible Study Course and the Whitefields Leadership Night School. The Big Bible Study Course looks at specific books of the Bible, gives an overview and then digs right in to extract nuggets that will help you enormously. The Whitefields Leadership Night School is for people who feel called into leadership, either in church or in the World, and want to learn first-hand Biblical principles of leadership (this also becomes a taster course for our one year Whitefields Leadership College that starts every September). Both courses are in six parts but you can join in at any point and continue until you have completed the course. We have two Lifestyle courses running simultaneously: the CAP Money Course - for those who want to undo some knots in their finances and learn how to manage money well - and the Marriage Course - that looks at how to overcome personality differences, how to argue well and how to get closer despite your differences.

8. DISCOVERING YOU Discovering You is an opportunity for you to find out more about your gifts, personality and character through introspective tests and group discussion. The three-part course runs once a month for three months and you can start any Wednesday night you choose and then catch all three parts. From spiritual gifts to leadership style to how we relate and communicate, we will be discovering how we work as individuals and how we can use our God-given talents and personality to bring change to our church, home-life and world! 32

7. OPEN HEAVEN PRAYER Each Growth Track night we are having an Open Heaven Prayer Meeting for around 60 minutes that will become the engine room of our church. We’re expecting a lot of people to join us lifting up our church, our leaders, our cities, our country and the nations.

Near the end of each night, we will offer prayer for those who would like to be baptised in the

Spirit and for those who would like the ‘layingon of hands’ for any difficulties they may be experiencing. It will be done sensitively and with the love and care you deserve.

Dream Teams are exactly what they say on the tin - teams that help the dream of Hope City becoming a fast growing church full of people, connecting to both God and each other.

We have around 13 fortnightly Dream Teams operating on Sundays, as well as 14 voluntary Dream Teams happening throughout the week down at the Megacentre. You can be any age to be a part of a Dream Team and you don’t need to have been a Christian for very long at all. The only proviso for any of our ‘pastoral’ teams that are more relationally oriented is that you become a Partner in the Vision (see Growth Track for details). Sometimes our Dream Teams are asked to help out at some of our conferences and special nights, but you can decide nearer to the time if you’d like to extend your involvement. The Finance team plays a vital part in helping to produce proper and efficient procedures that will enhance the overall growth of Hope City.

The Facilities team looks after the Megacentre throughout the week, from prepping the auditorium, to painting, to building projects. They make sure everything is running smoothly inside and outside the building.

The team works together to create a friendly and fun atmosphere. It’s a place people feel supported and welcomed. If you have past experience or would like to help with administrative tasks, we’d love to hear from you.

Polkadots is a baby and toddler group run by our Hope City mums.

With a great atmosphere, daily activities, excellent coffee and food; there is always something to get involved in.

Volunteering on reception is a great way to gain experience in customer service, phone handling, dealing with money and greeting new customers/ clients into the building and making them feel welcome.

WAVERLEY FUNDRAISING

Neon Schools is a weekly team that has a passion to bring the Gospel into schools in a relevant way, as well as educate and raise awareness of the important issues that young people face such as mental health, bullying, eating disorders and substance abuse.

Half way between Sheffield city centre and the M1 is Waverley - the future home of Hope City Church.

Partnering with other organisations, such as The Message Trust, we aim to deliver workshops, run lunchtime clubs and hold concerts within the schools. We are believing that we will see 1000s of young people across our city come to know Jesus.

Our Waverley Fundraising team is ‘all systems go’ as we try to raise funds from private Trusts, public funding and generous individuals for our incredible community vision - that includes everything from sports and education to friendship groups and work experience. CITY HEARTS City Hearts is an international charity working with victims of modern slavery. We have freed up one Wednesday each month* to give you a chance to get out and party with your neighbours, friends, workmates, college mates and anyone else who could do with your friendship and you theirs! Jesus said in John 7 that “rivers of living water will flow from your inmost being”. He was talking about the Holy Spirit, but because the Holy Spirit is in you, He’s also talking about you! He describes you as a river (not a lake or a pond) and not just a river, but a life giving river. Rivers are brilliant at not just receiving but giving as well. That’s the true you - someone itching to give out all you’ve received. Make your world feel like a million dollars through your spirit of encouragement and show your world what Jesus is really like through your trustworthiness, authenticity, fun and faith. You need to party, and this is your opportunity to let your hair down and show the world who you really are. Plus you’ll make some good friends who can show you a thing or two as well.
