Introduction to Digital Accessibility - This session is to familiarise staff with the general principles of digital accessibility and the standards used to assess if content will be accessible to all users in line with the new Accessibility Directive. We will look at how to make your resources accessible for all to improve the experience for all users, as well as ensuring that individuals with disabilities can gain equal access.

New Mandatory Safeguarding Training for all staff - The new 2020 / 2021 mandatory safeguarding training is for ALL staff and governors and will help staff understand their responsibilities to safeguard young people and vulnerable adults and how to report any concerns. The session will provide staff with the latest legislative information and provide an update on key themes and emerging trends or patterns for staff to be aware of, including mental health and the impact of trauma on young people. The training will also cover the new team structure of the Pastoral, Welfare and Safeguarding Team.

Log your CPD!

It is important that you are logging your CPD on the HR system as part of your Performance Management process. The Training and Development Policy stipulates the following requirements to ensure that ALL staff remain current and experts within their profession: CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK • 30 hours per year (Pro Rata) - applicable to those who teach or have direct contact with learners (to include: Lecturers, Work Based Tutors and Managers of curriculum delivery) • Teaching, Learning and Assessment - 10 hours • Industrial updating in the subject specialism or role - 10 hours (employees to go back into industry where relevant on work placement with employer partners) • National and College priorities in the wider context - 10 hours • Staff who lecture on HE courses must ensure that 10 of the 30 hours includes ‘scholarly activity’ each year BUSINESS SUPPORT FRAMEWORK • 20 hours per year (Pro Rata) - applicable to those who work in business support roles • Industrial updating in the subject specialism or role - 10 hours • National and College priorities in the wider context - 10 hours For both frameworks, employees are to include opportunities to keep up to date with changes in technology within their occupation. For part time or temporary employees the above hours will be pro rata, employees should liaise with their line manager or HR to clarify how much time applies. HOW TO LOG YOUR CPD HOURS • • • • • • •

Open up The Hub and on the right hand side click ‘HR Service’ You will then be taken to the home page, click on ‘Employee Self-Service’ Log in using your firstname.surname or email address. The password will be the password you use to log onto college computers Once logged in hover over the T&D tab at the top of the screen and choose ‘CPD Log’ You will then be taken to the ‘CPD Periods’ screen, click the column that contains this academic years dates (01/08/2020 – 31/07/2021) You will then be taken to the next screen, Click ‘New Entry’ Fill in the date, number of hours and the summary boxes below then click ‘Save’
