We are proud to be working with Johnny McKnight and Julie Brown of Random Accomplice on a touring co-production – And the Beat Goes On – Stef Smith’s new play about sequins, survival and Sonny and Cher.
Bard in the Botanics presents its five-star production of Shakespeare’s enduring love story Romeo and Juliet – a must for any young person studying the work - and we welcome back Sell A Door Theatre Company with a dramatic reinterpretation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s haunting classic Jekyll and Hyde. Kenny Boyle performs his one man show Hero Worship, brought to us by Sonic Boom; Sleeping Warrior Theatre Company visits with an outrageous new dating comedy Love 2.0; and Maggie Muff is back in 52 Shades of Maggie to round off a rich and varied drama programme. And the Beat Goes On
by Stef Smith Directed and designed by Kenny Miller, performed by Johnny McKnight and Julie Brown Thu 2 - Sat 4 Apr: 7.30pm | Perth Concert Hall With a string of hits in the 1960s and a successful American variety TV show in the 1970s, Sonny and Cher were one of the most playful and likeable married couples in the world of pop. Mismatched, camp, but good, honest fun. Decades later Peter and Lily have started their own tribute act. They’ve sewn costumes, they’ve built the set and they’ve tirelessly rehearsed. As deeply dark truths start to pop their bubblegum act, not everything is quite as it seems... And The Beat Goes On is a new play from Olivier Award-winning playwright Stef Smith in a brand new creative partnership between Horsecross Arts and Random Accomplice. Age guidance: 14+ (contains some strong language) £12; concessions £10 (includes booking fee); under 26s £5 HX

Adapted by Jo Clifford Wed 18 Feb: 7.30pm | Perth Concert Hall Rober t Louis Stevenson’s classic is reinterpreted in this modern adaptation, set in a London of the future, written by Jo Clifford and multi award-winning touring company Sell a Door, who brought Sunset Song to Perth Concert Hall last September. A devoted man of science, Dr. Henry Jekyll is a cancer specialist determined to find a breakthrough. Jekyll’s research results in the creation of a drug which alters the patient’s personality. Making himself the subject of his own experiments, Jekyll unleashes his inner demon in the process: the infamous Mr. Hyde. Trapped in a corporate world, Dr. Jekyll struggles to keep hold of his own identity as he revels in the chaos of his hideous alter ego. When Jekyll’s friends begin to suspect that he is involved in the recent murders on the streets of London, Jekyll must choose between his breakthrough and the impending breakdown of his own existence – but is the choice still in his hands?
