Making a will doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive and incorporating a legacy or adding a codicil (an additional clause) is very straightforward. We recommend that you consult your solicitor to ensure that your charitable wishes are expressed in the correct legal terms. Horsecross Arts is supported by award-winning Scottish law firm RSB Lindsays and their solicitors would be happy to help you plan for the future. If you would like to discuss incorporating a legacy in to your will or any other legal matters, please contact Grant Johnson at RSB Lindsays’ Dundee office on 01382 224112 or at grantjohnson@lindsays.co.uk. Horsecross Arts Ltd is a registered Scottish charity (SC022400) therefore, depending on its nature, your legacy can benefit from a number of different tax relief schemes, including inheritance tax reduction or exemption. We are tremendously grateful for each and every legacy gift pledged and we are always available to discuss your plans and requests in more detail. We want to make sure that you have complete confidence in the ways in which your gift will be used to support the creativity and communities you treasure.

Thank you We deeply appreciate your decision to share your intention of remembering Horsecross Arts in your will.

A letter from Chair of Horsecross Arts, Magnus Linklater, CBE I have always been impressed by the team at Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall who go above and beyond to deliver an adventurous cultural programme of drama, music, dance, comedy and film by world-class artists, as well as running inspirational community, education and outreach activities for the benefit of all of Perthshire. Our unwavering commitment to artistic excellence and innovative creative learning is stronger than ever but, as with all charitable arts organisations, we are a work in progress. We are continuously striving to be bigger and better but we cannot hope to achieve this alone. We need your help.

‘It is my sincere hope that talking openly about legacy giving will encourage others to consider remembering Horsecross Arts in their will’

Sustaining and, more importantly, growing the cultural, educational, social and economic impact Horsecross Arts has on Perthshire is as much a challenge as it is a necessity and the economic pressure of steadily decreasing public funding makes this task a difficult one. There is no doubt that ongoing investment is crucial if we are to guarantee the long term cultural well-being and creative success of the people of Perthshire. It is for precisely this reason that I have decided to gift a legacy to Horsecross Arts in my will and I am appealing to you, our dedicated audience members, supporters and ambassadors, to do the same. We simply can’t do it without you. Yours sincerely,

Why we need your help

Donald and Ann Moffat’s Story

Christopher McDougall’s Story

Have you ever been so captivated by a drama production or musical performance that you hoped it would never end? Have you or perhaps your children or grand-children enjoyed an unforgettable community activity or youth workshop?

‘We’ve been coming to singing group Horsecross Voices for a while now and we enjoy every minute. We both believe it has helped us a great deal health-wise and given us a far better outlook on life.

‘For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved performing! Since joining Perth Youth Theatre in 2007, it’s been my dream to become an actor.

Whatever the reason for your fondness for the arts, you are not alone. For many years, Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall’s entertainment and education programmes have influenced the lives of people of all ages and from all walks of life. Our greatest hope is that we will be able to continue to do so for a long time to come.

Performing with members of Vocal Chord – weekly singing sessions for adults with long-term health conditions – was one of many memorable occasions for us.

From playing the back end of Moo Moo in Perth Theatre pantomime Jack & the Beanstalk to singing in front of the Queen at Perth Concert Hall – I’ve done it all!

We used to travel all over to see shows but at our stage in life, it’s great to find such a mix of events right on our doorstep.

There is no doubt that Horsecross Arts has been pivotal in my decision to study drama and carve out a career in the world of performing arts.

The staff are lovely and we’re very happy to have formed great friendships with so many. Keep doing what you’re doing and we’ll keep coming for as long as we can!’

My time at Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall has taught me plenty of valuable life skills and left me with so many memories to treasure.’

We all want the things we love, admire and value to live on after we are gone so that others may have the opportunity to delight in the experiences we have cherished. Leaving a gift in your will is a simple, often overlooked way of ensuring that this wish is fulfilled. Your forethought and generosity can make a enduring difference to the lives of many. A legacy gift pledge is in no way legally binding but it does help us plan for the future. It also allows us to thank you personally for your consideration and, with your permission, keep you informed.

Many people do not realise that Horsecross Arts is a charity and relies on donations to survive – whether to preserve our enviable reputation for creative brilliance and ingenuity or to sustain our inclusive community, education and outreach activities.

Declaring your intention to leave a legacy today will help to secure the Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall of tomorrow.

We really need your support, so please consider remembering Horsecross Arts in your will.

Your gift will make a real difference. Thank you!
