Fauré Masques et Bergamasques Ravel Piano Concerto in G major Stravinsky Pulcinella (complete) Thierry Fischer, conductor Sergio Tiempo, piano Martene Grimson, soprano James Gilchrist, tenor Roderick Williams, baritone The SCO captures the spirit of Paris between the wars – the jazz age was in full swing, but wistful nostalgia was also in the air. Fauré is all moonlit enchantment, while Stravinsky goes for laughs. Ravel’s concerto simply glitters: a virtuosic tour de force. All in all, a fine entertainment from start to finish.

Stéphane Denève, conductor Jennifer Larmore, mezzo-soprano Gregory Kunde, tenor Nicolas Cavallier, bass RSNO Chorus Choral symphony, opera, cantata or, as Berlioz termed it, ‘dramatic legend’: The Damnation of Faust is all of these things, and a marvel to hear in the flesh. Occasions to experience this masterwork are all too rare, and with a renowned Berlioz specialist in RSNO Music Director Stéphane Denève, as well as the very finest soloists, this will be an evening to remember.

Two boys One murder Two victims When his friend is stabbed, a young lad from a housing scheme falls in with a gang. The terrible revenge he takes at random brings disaster on himself and the family of his victim. Inspired by The Iliad and drawing on contemporary Glasgow’s so called “knife culture” it is by turns frightening and deeply moving, provoking thought and debate on the issue of violence in our communities. Paddy Cunnenn is a recent Bafta nominee (Boy A soundtrack) and directed Nova Scotia by John Byrne. Features young adults from Perthshire and Perth Youth Theatre.

the most popular Scottish novel of all time Sunset Song was voted the most popular Scottish novel of all time in 2006. 28

This revised adaptation by Alastair Cording tells the story of Chris Guthrie through her country childhood and marriages before and after the First World War. It is an examination and celebration of a rural life fast dying out; telling how it feels to be a girl growing up on a farm in Scotland in the early 20th century, how it feels to be in love and in lust, how it feels to be a young mother on her own and how it feels to lose a love.

“I have always depended on the kindness of strangers...”

This is the story of the emotionally charged confrontation between two – now iconic – characters: Blanche Dubois and Stanley Kowalski. She is a disinherited Southern belle from a once aristocratic family striving to keep her head above the horrors that life has delivered her. He is the brutal and passionate husband of Stella, Blanche’s younger sister. Blanche arrives at the Kowalski’s home, disrupting Stanley and Stella’s sexual intimacy. Stanley is quickly irritated by Blanche’s airs and graces. He becomes violently determined to pull her down from her pedestal and get to the savage truth behind her arrival in their home.

Once paid for, tickets are non refundable. Changes may be possible, with at least 48 hours notice prior to the original date, for another performance within the run of the same show only. We need the original tickets to do this. There may be a small admin charge. We don’t operate waiting lists and don’t take reservations, apart from for large groups. We reserve the right to make changes to our seating plans; we don’t always know until shows arrive how they will work in the venue so sometimes have to take a row out, or add a row in.
