WELCOME WELCOME TO OUR SEVENTH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF AMERICAN ROOTS MUSIC IN PERTH Whether you’re a veteran of multiple Southern Frieds or joining us for the first time, we’re sure you will find plenty to enjoy in this year’s programme. The song is at the heart of the many genres that shelter under the Southern Fried umbrella and we’re delighted to present some of the very finest songwriters on the planet, most notably in our three headliners, but also in the host of guest acts, support gigs, late night performances and free shows we have lined up.
2
With Perth Theatre currently closed for restoration and redevelopment, the Salutation Hotel, a favourite after show haunt with Southern Fried acts, has stepped in to host Saturday and Sunday afternoon concerts as well as the iconic Late and Southern Fried shows and new late night Songwriters’ Snug. With its relaxed, intimate atmosphere, we’re very excited to bring ‘The Sally’ on board as a core venue and we are sure it will be a popular choice with performers and audiences. This year we are taking it outside for the first time with a free outdoor stage at Perth Concert Hall featuring some of Scotland’s many great Americana artists. We’ve acted on your feedback and reintroduced more workshops and talks this year including the opportunity to appear on stage with Southern Fried Voices. Our fantastic selection of authentic soul food and drink will be on offer across the weekend once again so come early and come hungry! Andy Shearer ★ Festival Director

Like Bon Iver, Bill Callahan and Willard Grant Conspiracy, Aberfeldy's Star Wheel Press favour a melancholic muse, where the sourness of disappointment is sweetened by the ache of the melody’ The Herald
