Student Spotlight: Eribeli Morel-Laureano
Hostos is the place that opened doors for me.
Eribeli Morel-Laureano calls Hostos her second home, and for good reason. After moving to New York City from the Dominican Republic, she began her academic journey by enrolling in the Hostos CUNY Language Immersion Program (CLIP) in 2019, a crucial step that helped her gain the language skills needed to pursue her associate’s degree.
After CLIP, Eribeli completed the CUNY Start program and earned an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Hostos Community College in Fall 2022. While studying, she worked part-time with the Hostos Student Success Coaching unit and, later, as a college assistant in the Hostos Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD).
Eribeli always wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. As such, upon graduating from Hostos with her associate’s degree, she decided to complete Hostos CEWD’s Clinical
Medical Assistant (CMA) certificate program in Spring 2023. A year later, she started working as an Evaluation Coordinator at BronxCare Hospital. Eribeli believes the experience she gained both as a CEWD student and staff member helped her settle into this role, where she is thriving.
