Happy New Year! Message From Nathaniel Cruz, Vice President, Student Development and Enrollment Management In an effort to enhance the alignment of our division’s effort with the newly launched strategic goals of the College, SDEM held its first conference on Assessment in Student Affairs in December 2011. The activity included the leadership of the division as well as mid managers. It was facilitated by one of the most reputable expert consultant groups in the country, Campus Labs Inc. The conference focused on formalizing unit objectives consistent with the College’s and University goals, and more specifically, metrics, improvement loops, and assessment measures within student affairs using a web based system. Hostos SDEM became the first in CUNY to pilot Campus Labs Inc. To continue with the professional development of the division, another conference will be scheduled in the spring 2012. Coming up in spring 2012: technological enhancements include two online advisement services, Career Focus II and Financial Aid TV; developing live stream programming and improving customer service through its new SDEM Student Services Center. These efforts are a reflection of the division’s unyielding commitment to improving services for our students.
