ome cities are instantly known by the famous landmark located within. Paris will forever be known by the Eiffel Tower, Seattle by the Space Needle and Sydney by its Opera House. Our Let’s Go feature this month takes us to Kanchanaburi, 123 Km’s west of Bangkok. In 1942 during World War II, Kanchanaburi was under Japanese control. It was here that they forced Asian labourers along with Allied POWs to build the infamous Burma Railway. It was nicknamed the Death Railway because almost half of the prisoners working on the project died from disease, maltreatment, or accidents. While working on the railway the workers were forced to build a bridge, a bridge that became the famous landmark for Kanchanaburi due to a movie. That movie, released in 1957, was called The Bridge on the River Kwai. Turn to page 38 to find out why you’ll want to visit and what you should see in addition to the bridge. In 1977, recognizing a renewed appetite for sophisticated travel, James Sherwood, founder of Belmond, a hotel and leisure company, purchased two vintage train carriages at a Monte Carlo auction. He sought out additional cars from famous vintage trains, including Le Train Bleu and the Rome Express. Following years of careful restoration, the iconic midnight-blue cars finally rolled onto the rails in 1982 ready to escort guests in peerless luxury on a classic journey between London and Venice. Luxury train travel, where getting there is more fun than arriving, has caught on world-wide. Get on board and turn to page 56 where we explore other luxury trains from around the world that should be on your bucket list.

Stitched clothing, including court attire and ceremonial uniforms, were invented during the reign of King Chulalongkorn. Western forms of dress became popular among urbanites in Bangkok during this time period. During the early 1900s, King Vajiravudh launched a campaign to encourage Thai women to wear long hair instead of traditional short hair, and to wear pha sinh, a tubular skirt, instead of the chong kraben, a cloth wrap.

generous sea breeze greet us. The sun had set and the early evening light cast the ocean in a soft hue of blue. Tables and chairs are set out between the palm trees, directly on the sand. Glasses and cutlery sparkle in the subdued light. A multitude of lanterns hang from the palm trees adding to the romantic, or even idyllic, atmosphere. What a fantastic first impressions we have arriving at the absolutely waterfront Sai Thong restaurant at the Anantara Hua Hin Resort.
Our goal for the evening is simple. Experience the new Surf “N” Turf BBQ – an initiative created by Executive Chef Rainer Mueller for hotel guests, local residents and visitors to Hua Hin visitors. And this writer can never say no to the opportunity of the freshest of seafood and great quality meats, perfectly prepared and cooked for my dining pleasure – and that’s exactly what Chef Rainer presented us with. With the large traditional coal fired barbecue as the centre piece, the Executive Chef and his team
have also set out a row of shiny silver chaffing dishes filled with a collection of different rice options, along with baked potatoes, sweet potatoes fries, a vegetarian pasta, and a choice of other vegetable dishes. The adjoining salad bar offered Thai pomelo or papaya salads, a grilled asparagus salad, and a variety of individual ingredients to make your own – with the hotel’s grown onsite hydroponic lettuce in pride of place. There’s even a bread station to slice your own from a selection of fresh crusty breads or grab some just baked Naan bread.

For the “Surf” side of the BBQ, sitting atop an iced display were long handled skewers, threaded full with generous pieces of either barracuda, grouper, mackerel, squid, or fat prawns. The seafood on these skewers was interspersed with sliced vegetables like red, green or yellow peppers, onions, cherry tomatoes, and sweet banana chillies. Just decide what seafood to start with and chefs barbecue your choice on the spot. We started with a selection of barbecued barracuda and prawns in the shell which were delivered to our table on warmed platters to keep the food at optimum temperature.

The “Turf” side of the BBQ offers more of those generously filled skewers. A selection of three marinated meats – either pork neck, chicken thighs, or lamb cubes. There is also slow roasted beef short ribs.
To accompany the Surf “N” Turf BBQ there is a very attractive selection of quality wines – white and red – by the bottle and priced around 600 THB. We tried an Australian Wolf Blass which worked well with our barbecue selections.
The pièce de résistance though is, the Australian wagyu tomahawk steaks. Each averaging around 3kg. Already par-cooked, the chefs slice off succulent slivers which they then
Throughout the evening, a three piece band add to the atmosphere covering popular tunes suitable for a dinner setting. Also, twice during the evening a troupe of four Thai female
dancers performed. For their first routine they were accompanied by Thai traditional drummers and the second performance more modern and up tempo in nature. All adding an extra level of ambience to the evening. Dinner is never complete without desserts and Chef Rainer and his team created two display tables stacked full of temptation. In such a tropical and waterfront setting, there had to be a broad selection of exotic fruits that Thailand is famous for. Or help yourself to a choice of two ice-creams – coconut or peach on the night we visited. And then there

What is your full name and age? My name is Arnaud Béril, I am 29 years old. What is your current Job Position? Director of Food and Beverage at the stunning AVANI Hua Hin Resort & Villas. How long have you lived in Hua Hin or been coming to Hua Hin? I am new to Hua Hin and have arrived mid-October this year. Prior to my move I only had the chance to experience the destination once over Songkran and I am certainly excited to discover this charming place now. What did you know about Hua Hin before you moved here? Having now spent almost 9 years in the country, I knew that Hua Hin was a famous weekend destination offering some of the best Resorts in Thailand. What do you like most about your profession? Growing up in the south west of France near Bordeaux, our house was always a place where friends, family and neighbors would gather, enjoy tasty meals and spend quality times. I was then naturally driven to start a career in Hospitality for this very purpose of welcoming guests and fellow travelers and it is certainly one of the aspects of my job that I like the most! What do you like least about your profession? Being a hotelier is a true passion and I cannot think of anything I dislike. There are certainly more challenging situations than others but even then, positive outcomes can be expected.
What is your favorite restaurant and why? (please don’t promote your own restaurants) One of my favorite place to dine is in the country side of France serving simple authentic food, made with love for many years. Here in Hua Hin and being a member of the newly reformed Skål organization, I had the chance to enjoy a great dinner at the beach front restaurant of Putahracsa and look forward to return. What do you like to do in your free time and why? Playing electric guitar is one of my favorite thing to do when I have free time. I found this very relaxing and inspiring. What would you recommend to new-comers to do in Hua Hin and why? Enjoy the many markets and day trip activities the region has to offer and treat themselves in a nice resort by the beach to make the most out of their precious holidays. Tell us a surprising fact that the public might not know about you? I have always been attracted to extreme sports and one of my next goal is to Skydive. What is the most outlandish thing you have ever done and why? Back when I was 18 years old, I took on an adventurous road trip from Cape Town South Africa to the Namib desert with nothing else than a small rental car, a cool box and a strong will to travel through the bush and discover this amazing part of the world.
What do you like most about Hua Hin? I am yet to discover Hua Hin however I have already met some great personalities around the city which makes for a warm welcome. My early peaceful morning rides through Palm Hills Golf to reach our Resort is also something I enjoy since day one.

aris has the Eiffel Tower, London its Clock Tower, New York the Empire State Building, Sydney an Opera House, Seattle has the Space Needle and in Kanchanaburi it’s a bridge. In 1942 during World War II, Kanchanaburi was under Japanese control. It was here that they forced Asian labourers along with Allied POWs to build the infamous Burma Railway. It was nicknamed the Death Railway because almost half of the prisoners working on the project

died from disease, maltreatment, or accidents. While working on the railway in Kanchanaburi the workers were forced to build a bridge, a bridge that became world famous due to the 1957 Hollywood movie classic The Bridge on the River Kwai. The Hellfire Pass Memorial documents the history of how the Japanese army forced Allied prisoners to build a railway through Burma and western Thailand. The museum is situated at the site where
prisoners labored night and day, often with torches that resembled the fires of Hell. The city is also home to the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery. But Kanchanaburi, 123 km west of Bangkok, is so much more, especially for nature lovers. Our HOT Magazine research team spent a few enjoyable days in this historic city and here are their sightseeing suggestions in addition to the museum’s and mustsee bridge.
Erawan National Park Just a short drive from town is the Erawan National Park which was founded in 1975 and is Thailand’s 12th National Park. The park consists of forest and limestone hills with picturesque plains. Deciduous forest covers 81 percent of the park, while the remainder is blanketed in evergreens, making the whole area a real haven for nature lovers. The number one attraction here is the Erawan Waterfall. The waterfall consists of seven levels with a
sapphire green pond in each. The waterfall got its name from its top tier which is said to resemble the three-headed elephant of Hindu Mythology, hence the name ‘Erawan’. Wildlife watching possibilities are limited although deeper into the forest some animals and birds can be found.
Srinakarin National Park Srinakarin National Park is another perfect choice for nature lovers in Kanchanaburi. It is famed primarily
for the spectacular Huay Mae Khamin Waterfall, which crashes down towards the Khwae Yai River and is said to be the most stunning waterfall in Thailand. It is further out of town so it’s less populated than the closer Erawan Falls. Adventurous visitors can also visit caves around the park. History lovers must not miss Tham Sawan and Tham Phra caves where prehistoric paintings rub shoulders with a wondrous Buddha image. Animals like leopards, bats and orioles also patrol the park – so keep your eyes open.

Srinkarin Dam Named after Princess Srinagarindra, the Srinakarin Dam is built on the Kwae Yai River in the Srisawat District. The dualpurpose dam is for river regulation and hydroelectric power generation. The lake created by the dam has a breathtaking view with surrounding mountains. It is also an excellent spot of fishing and has become one of the most important attraction sites in Kanchanaburi Province. Initial construction on the dam began in 1974 and it was complete in 1980. The original cost of the dam was estimated to be $45 million but because the dam was constructed on a fault line, the dam's foundation had to be reinforced which raised the cost to $114 million.
Muang Singh Historical Park The Muang Singh Historical Park protects the remains of two Khmer temples dating to the 13th and 14th centuries. It was declared a historical park in 1987. The history of the site goes back to the period between 857 and 1157, a period when the Khmer Kingdom was flourishing. Records show that the town was abandoned until the reign of King Rama I. The name Mueang Sing first showed in the chronicles of the reign of King Rama I (1782-1809), when it was a fortified town protecting the town Kanchanaburi.

Surrounded by limestone hills on the bank of the Kwai river, the ancient city is almost square-shaped with moats, ramparts and laterite city walls. The wall is 880 meters long with gates on all four sides. There is an embankment of earth on each of the other inner sides of the wall; the outer sides are enclosed with seven moats and ramparts. These moats and ramparts were probably constructed for the water control system as well as for fortification. During repair, fine art departments had found many significant art pieces that are similar to the ones in Cambodia. These statues are now kept in the Bangkok National Museum. Reproductions of the statues are displayed at the castle. Erawan National Park

Kanchanaburi Night Markets Wherever you go in Thailand you are never far from a night market and Kanchanaburi has two located in the city. The main market is at the train station which has stalls selling just about anything you would want to buy (and plenty of things you won’t). The second and smaller market is at the main bus station. This one is less touristy, and the prices are slightly less, if you are staying in the area and will be cooking at any point this is a great place to pick up your fresh produce. The food market starts daily at 6:00 PM and you will find various local Thai specialties and home-made Thai sweets. The choice is huge and often unexpectedly delicious. While the offerings at most souvenir stalls and open-air markets do not often stray beyond typical tourist knick-knacks, Kanchanaburi can be an exciting place to shop for quality gemstones. Here is the centre of Thailand’s gemstone mining industry, and Bo Ploi, a district within Kanchanaburi province, is one of the world’s largest production centres for blue sapphires. You will find these brilliant sapphires along with other precious and semi-precious stones at nearly every souvenir stall at various tourist attractions. But if quality is your biggest concern, then head over to Bo Ploi. The eastern approach to the Bridge over the River Kwai is one other area worth checking out. These stalls feature a diverse collection of crafts and home décor items, including bamboo crafts, readymade wear, Thai musical instruments, ceramics, lacquerware, bronzeware, paper parasols, silk and gemstones. Just like there is much more to Paris than the Eiffel Tower, there is so much more to see and do in Kanchanaburi than visiting the bridge and war museums. But like the Eiffel Tower, those are two things you don’t want to miss while you are here.

hen going on holiday it is the destination and the sights seen that create the warmest of memories, at least that is normally the case. HOT Magazine’s research team recently returned from a trip to Kanchanaburi and our consensus was that our accommodation was just as memorable as our time spent seeing the sights in and around this historical city. Due to a recommendation, we booked into the Away Kanchanaburi Resort & Spa and were so pleased we did. Situated on 37 rai of riverfront land, the resort is stunning. Based on the architecture of King Rama VI’s Maruekhathaiyawan Palace, commonly known as the Teak Wood Palace located between Hua Hin and Cha Am, the Resort offers 104 rooms & suites. Walking thru their doors you feel like you have been whisked away to a serene tropical paradise that is rich in historical ambiance. Away Kanchanaburi Dheva Mantra’s lavish accommodations feature wood carvings and exquisite artwork that captures the beauty of a bygone Colonial era. It is a place that is peaceful, exotic, and full of fairy tale charm. Away Kanchanaburi offers 7 room types ranging in size from a generous 52 square meters for their Superior and Deluxe rooms to 232 square meters for their Presidential Suite. Not feeling quite presidential, we checked into their Grand Suite and were very pleased with its substantial size of 118 square meters. All areas were spacious, from the separate bedroom and bathroom to the lounge and very large outdoor deck that overlooked the river and their floating rice barge restaurant. The suite also included a second guest toilet which is a nice extra. The Rice Barge is the hotel’s signature restaurant which redefines the tide of authentic Thai cuisine. The crux of their menu features the freshest and most seasonal fish sourced from the local waters in addition to exciting and authentic Thai cuisine from all four provinces of Thailand. Tiara is the hotel’s all day restaurant where you can start your day off with a delectable buffet breakfast. Their lunch and dinner menu delves into a vast array of culinary classics from all over the World. In addition to a menu of innovative dishes they also offer an excellent selection of fine wines. Their Terrace restaurant is also an all day dining destination as well as the perfect place to enjoy Afternoon Tea or cocktails.

Bumrungrad Health Briefs Prostate Cancer
What Men Need to Know About Early Detection Every man aged 50 years or older needs to know the risk of developing prostate cancer. One of the easiest and most available methods of detection is the blood test known as Prostate Specific Antigen or PSA
• Having problems starting or stopping urination.
PSA is a protein that is produced by normal, as well as malignant (abnormal), cells of the prostate gland. The PSA blood test measures the level of PSA in a man’s blood in order to determine if he is at risk for prostate cancer. The higher the PSA levels are, the higher the risk of having prostate cancer.
There are currently a number of successful treatments available for prostate cancer. Surgery, Radiation Therapy, Chemotherapy and Hormone Therapy are all good treatments depending on the stage and “grade” of the cancer. Bumrungrad International Hospital is proud to announce the availability of the most State-of-the-Art treatment for prostate cancer known as the Da Vinci Surgery procedure . The Da Vinci System (da Vinci Robot) is designed to perform minimally invasive surgeries (MIS). The treating surgeon needs to make only five small incisions near the navel and then operate the robot using 3D imagery. This type of treatment has several excellent benefits:
Prostate cancer is the leading cancer in men globally. According to the World Cancer Research Fund International, over 1.1 million men worldwide were diagnosed with prostate cancer which accounted for an alarming 15% of all cancer cases in men. There are a few things to look at in order to determine if you are at high risk for prostate cancer:
• Seeing blood in the urine stream. If you see blood, it is important to seek medical attention immediately!
• Effective cancer control.
• Age – Most cases of prostate cancer are found in men aged 50 and older.
• Patients feel less pain, spend less time in the hospital and faster recovery.
• Family History – Having a father or brother who has had prostate cancer.
• Greater surgical precision!
• Region – Prostate cancer is more common in North America and Europe and less common in Asia. • Diet – Men who eat a lot of fatty foods and regularly eat red meat are at increased risk. Often untested men wouldn’t know they had prostate cancer until it was already at the late stages. There are many symptoms to look for in order to detect prostate cancer early. Some of these symptoms include:
• More frequent urination, especially at night. • Pain or a burning sensation while urinating. • Feeling as if your bladder is never empty.
• Potentially Less urinary and sexual dysfunction side effects from the surgery.
Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok is home to over 1,300 doctors and surgeons providing quality in-patient and out-patient care in state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic and intensive care facilities. Founded in 1980, Bumrungrad today serves over 1.1 million patients each year, including 520,000 international patients, who have access to comprehensive support in more than 20 languages. Along with its internationally-certified lab and pharmacy, advanced imaging, and 24-hour emergency care, Bumrungrad has 55 specialty centers — including the New Life Healthy Aging Clinic, a dedicated geriatric clinic supported by specialists in heart and cancer care, bone and digestive health, and neurology and ophthalmology.
• Quicker surgery time and less blood loss. • Fewer complications. With early detection, prostate cancer survival rates are high. According to the American Cancer Society, the relative 10year survival rate is 98% and the relative 15-year survival rate is 96%. These are favorable numbers so long as prostate cancer is detected early, which is why having PSA levels checked is so important. deserved a noble return to service but required a specialised level of craftsmanship to be restored. Luckily a handful of artisans were found for the task, and they began the painstaking process of returning the carriages to their former glory. Following years of careful restoration, the iconic midnight-blue cars finally rolled onto the rails in 1982, ready to escort guests in peerless luxury on a classic journey between London and Venice. The train stops in Paris and Verona on the way and the food is sourced along the route meaning that when you sit down to dinner, there’s likely to be lobsters from Brittany or crisp tomatoes from Provence on your plate. After dinner, stop by the champagne bar for a cheers that will transport you back to the golden age of luxury travel.

Maharajas' Express, dubbed India's equivalent to the Orient Express of Europe, this Maharaja train is rated by prestigious travel magazines and luxury guides as one of the greatest rail journeys in the world.
The Presidential Train, Portugal The crown jewel of Portugal’s railway, the Presidential Train has hosted Kings, Presidents, Heads of State and Popes for over a century. Built in 1890, it served the court of King D. Luis I as the Portuguese Royal Train, transporting dignitaries like Queen Elizabeth II and Pope Paul VI. Renamed The Presidential Train at the turn of the century, it proudly transported Portugal’s Heads of State until 1970, when it was officially retired.
Rovos Rail
Today, the Presidential Train brings some of the world’s finest chefs to some of the world’s freshest food as it chugs from Porto to Quinta do Vesuvio, on the eastern coast of the Douro Valley. Michelin-starred chefs board every daytrip for nine hours of gastronomic delight, of course paired with wines from the region. Passengers can relax in private cabins and watch the golden valley through their windows as they wait for meal service. Rovos Rail

Eastern & Oriental Express
Eastern & Oriental Express, Asia
President Portugal
Since 1993, this elegantly-decorated train has been making stops in three of Asia’s most glittering cities, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Singapore. The interiors of the Eastern & Oriental Express were inspired by the 1932 Marlene Dietrich film “Shanghai Express,” and come complete with Jim Thompson Thai silk, Malaysian embroidery and cherrywood paneling. The rich decorations are only enhanced when the train passes through lush rainforest or ancient temples. Be sure to pack apparel worthy of the scene. Evening wear is required for dinner. In keeping with the golden age of travel, electronic devices are discouraged in certain areas. As for modern innovation, the train is beautifully air-conditioned so you can stay cool in the tropical climate and all of their cabins have luxurious ensuite bathrooms. Luxury train travel is an experience that should be on everyone’s bucket list. It’s a chance to slow down your hectic life, put away your electronic devices, stare out the window and talk to your fellow travelers. Forge friendships and share life experiences, the way life used to be before everything was reduced down to ones and zeroes.

HOT Magazine Named An Official Media Partner For The Asia Superyacht Rendezvous
H
OT Magazine is pleased to announce that we have been named an Official Media Partner for the 2019 Asia Superyacht Rendezvous Cup happening in Phuket from January 18th to the 20th. The 18th annual Asia Superyacht Rendezvous (ASR Cup) promises fierce racing and exclusive relaxed social events in its invitation to superyacht owners, captains & crew where the event is returning for its third year to the beautiful SALA Resort & Spa Phuket on pristine Mai Khao Bay. Asia Pacific Superyachts, the leading Superyacht agency in the Asia and Pacific region has successfully organized this annual event now going into its 18th year and sees no signs of losing wind.

Kicking off opening day after the late afternoon ‘Captains Briefing’ is the impressive cocktail party aboard one of the spectacular mammoth vessels. The following day is the start of the first of two days of the fierce but friendly ocean sailing race for the 3rd annual ‘Winner’s Cup’. Both race days will see impressive luxury motor yachts marking and following the course set forth on beautiful Mai Khao Bay, along with invited pleasure craft. Following Day One of racing the action moves to the SALA Resort Phuket with a culinary highlight prepared by their international chefs from all three SALA Resorts and Spas. This special “Owners Dinner” is a new addition the ASR Cup and it will offer invited guests the perfect
venue to network and exchange news of what is happening in the yachting world. Day 2 starts with the race director’s horn blast on a new course around the stunning Mai Khao Bay. For the last two years the luxury sailing yacht Aphrodite has taken home the coveted ‘ASR Winner’s Cup’ and everyone is looking to see if they can make it a three-peat this year or will the trophy be captured by a new competing sailing superyacht in 2019? Long time ASR Cup organiser Gordon Fernandes sums up the appeal of the ASR Cup: “The Rendezvous is one of the most exclusive events in the world superyacht sector. This is one of the few regattas in the world that allows
both motor and sailing yachts (70’ and longer) to participate alongside each other. But unlike many superyacht gatherings and regattas, the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous Cup is all about having a jolly, fun atmosphere where participation is encouraged, but not required – an event where it is about having a great time and putting the sails up.” “Attending yachts see Phuket as an outstanding destination and a perfect base for voyaging on to Myanmar, the Andaman and Indonesian seas. We’re looking forward to assisting our visiting superyachts to continue their journey as we roll out the red carpet at the ASR Cup!”

Tanya Siri Vijitsomphong, HOT Magazine’s Managing Editor & Creative Director on being named an Official Media Partner had this to say: “With our magazine’s ethos of luxury living and exclusive lifestyle, we couldn’t think of a better or more appropriate organization to be associated with than the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous. Superyachts are the play toys of titans of industry and the world’s wealthiest and we are thrilled to be a part of this Rendezvous.” Going on two decades in Phuket, the ASR Cup is a superyacht drawing

card for Asia, one that is kept strictly non-commercial, inviting both sail and motor vessels 70’ and longer to attend, an event that continues to be on the radar of superyacht owners and captains around the globe. Sail and motor yachts are encouraged to sign on early as only a limited number of vessels can be accommodated. For more information go to asia-superyacht-rendezvous.com

Awardees came from 15 key property markets across the Asia Pacific region, including an elite selection from Japan and Australia who joined the prestigious awards programme for the first time in its 13year history. The Awards celebrated the new iconic developments in the region that champion green building, sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), value for money, and innovation.
Hong Kong’s New World Development Company Limited was hailed as Best Developer (Asia) of the year by the independent jury comprising the head judges in each participating market. “New World Development Company Limited impressed the judges with its diverse range of highquality developments this year. The company has proven itself to be
leader in a difficult and extremely competitive property market like Hong Kong. The company continues to strive to set new standards, with exciting developments such as Mount Pavilia, Skypark and the Forest winning accolades,” said Thien Duong, managing director of Transform Architecture and the chairperson of the Grand Final judges.
The culminating event of the prestigious series that journeys throughout the year across the region featured country winners from Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore. In addition, finalists from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia participated in the
regional competition to be named the ‘Best in Asia’. Overall, there were 22 regional categories, including Best Boutique Developer (Asia), which went to SonKim Land Corporation of Vietnam. The top markets that won the most regional awards were Thailand (collecting seven ‘Best in Asia’ accolades) and Vietnam (5), followed

by the Philippines (3), Indonesia (3) and Singapore (2). Sri Lanka, China and Hong Kong won one regional award each. The evening also introduced the new PropertyGuru Icon Award as one of the highest regional honours to be presented at the programme. The firstever recipient of this distinction is one of Asia’s prominent and most active real estate leaders, Filipino-Chinese tycoon Dr. Andrew L. Tan, Chairman and CEO of Megaworld Corporation, who won the Philippines Real Estate Personality of the Year award in 2014. Tan was chosen for leading his team to earn three consecutive Best Developer (Philippines) titles and for being a champion of corporate social responsibility (CSR) through the Megaworld Foundation and Empire East Cares. Tan accepted his award via a video message from PropertyGuru Group CEO Hari V. Krishnan. Nearly 500 guests from around the region joined the exclusive ceremony, including H.E. Dr. Aladdin D. Rillo, Deputy Secretary-General for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), the evening’s Guest of Honour, who delivered an inspiring message from the AEC about market integration and regional cooperation.

Hari V. Krishnan, CEO of PropertyGuru Group, said: “Congratulations to all the winners of the 2018 PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards. We are honoured to align with the region’s best and most innovative developers. They have made their teams and countries proud by producing iconic developments and improving the experiences of consumers.” Terry Blackburn, founder and managing director of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, said in his opening remarks: “Unlike 13 years ago, when we started this programme, there is now no doubt that the future belongs to Asia, which has the fastest growing economies today and is home to some of the most exciting real estate markets in the world. Hopefully the years the Asia Property Awards have spent promoting sustainable development, green buildings and corporate social responsibility, have in some small way, contributed to the conversation on what the best Asia should look like in the future.”

HOT Magazine
