Starting the year with a positive mentality is important. An attitude of courage and optimism is important and brave. If you can’t forgive, forget it, but move on, If you can’t forget, move forward, nobody or nothing is allowed to live in your head rent free for too long.

For 2025, I wish for all the lonely hearts out there, a lot of new findings and experiences, searching is part of the human journey, never give up, worry when you no longer have the will to choose or look for something better. For now, we home you enjoy this episode of About US.

Welcome Back Mr. President
Going back to 2020 when he was removed from the White House, there was a dark feeling of wrong and injustice. During the following years, a number of disastrous actions were taken, It has been all wrong, inconsistent unfit and ill. All 4 Biden Years! Derivative from partial insanity or dementia, call it what you wish, the Biden Administration felt more as a punishment to the American people than an effort. There wasn’t a moment of satisfaction, we have experienced, economical challenges, unheard of border crisis, injustices, disrespect to family values. We were challenged to an impossible reality. The hardest four years.
For President Trump, the numerous accusations, judgments, persecutions, it was equally hard, but he never gave up. He fought like a giant, he showed us the system can’t win. Even with 2 attempts against his life, he got up and said FIGHT! And that was and is the biggest lesson he could teach the American people. Months later the people voted, and fought, they showed that standing together, to undo all the wrongs was possible! We can’t imagine what could be another four years under Kamala administration. For what is worth, voting felt liberating. We are all hoping for four years repairing the mistakes, rebuilding a great country in need of a strong leader. America is a giant, powerful, great and unique. Nobody is more qualified to be our commander in Chief. God knows.
Donald Trump sworn in as 47th president of the United States of America
Donald Trump was sworn in Monday as the 47th president of the United States, returning to the White House after overcoming persecutions and two assassination attempts in one of the most remarkable political comebacks in U.S. history.
Trump recited the oath of office shortly after noon at an intimate inaugural inside the Rotunda of the Capitol. The ceremony was moved indoors because of below-freezing temperatures in the nation’s capital.
The 78-year-old Trump raised his right hand and took the oath of office using a Bible his mother gave him in 1955 that was stacked on a second Bible used by President Abraham Lincoln for his 1861 swearing-in. JD Vance was sworn in as vice president right before Trump.
“The golden age of America begins right now,” Trump said in a roughly 30-minute inaugural address. “From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world.
We will be the envy of every nation, and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer during every single day of the Trump administration.”
Trump arrived at the Capitol to applause and chants of “USA! USA! USA!”
He replaces Joe Biden, who sat near Trump as the new president railed on the “radical and corrupt” government he is inheriting.
Calling his inauguration “liberation day,” Trump declared “a tide of change is sweeping the country” as he painted a bleak picture of a nation overwhelmed by crime from an “invasion of our country.” He said the Biden administration “cannot manage even a simple crisis at home” and accused his predecessor of providing “sanctuary and protection for dangerous criminals” who have entered the country illegally.
“All of this changes starting today,” Trump said, adding that he has a mandate to reverse the “horrible betrayal” of the Biden administration
In prime seating behind Trump on stage were Trump’s and Vance’s family members, the president’s Cabinet nominees and billionaire executives including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Apple CEO Tim Cook and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk.
Trump is just the second former president to return to office after losing an election, joining Grover Cleveland who arrived back in the White House for his second term in 1893.

A ‘revolution of common sense,’ Trump says
Trump’s return to power marks a seismic change across the federal government. He enters claiming an election “mandate” to enact sweeping changes after winning every battleground state and the popular vote. The new Trump era is expected to be even more aggressive than the president’s tumultuous first four years in office, when he was twice impeached but acquitted by the Senate.
“From this moment on, America’s decline is over”
Trump campaigned on big promises in his election victory over Democrat Kamala Harris to bring down consumer prices, root out the so-called “deep state” from the federal government, begin mass deportations of immigrants in the country illegally and undo Biden’s policies on climate, energy, transgender rights, cryptocurrency and on a list of other issues.
Trump and his advisers have said the new president would take more than 100 executive actions described by allies as “shock and awe” during his first day in office with a focus on “sealing” the U.S.-Mexico border and levying new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China.
Trump outlined some of the orders in
his address, including declaring a national emergency at the southern border, carrying out his “drill, baby, drill” agenda to increase oil production, renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America and making it the official policy of the federal government to recognize only two genders: male and female.
“With these actions, we will begin the complete restoration of America and the revolution of common sense,” Trump said.
“It’s all about common sense.”
Trump’s next four years are expected to showcase an ever more populist GOP, one that has turned away from free markets toward protectionism and away from international alliances toward an “America First” mentality. Introduced in Trump’s first term with tariffs on China, renegotiated trade pacts and hostility toward NATO, these ideas will be more fully expressed in a second Trump administration.
Trump said the U.S. is “taking back” the Panama Canal, He said the U.S. would enter into a new era of space exploration on Mars under his watch. “We will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars” Trump vowed.

THE SALAD BAR
Brics expansion: new partner states added
Entering the new year, Brics wecomes nine new partner countries to the bloc.
After admitting four new members in 2024, BRICS officially welcomed nine new nations as partner countries on January 1, 2025.
Two of these are from Latin America, three are from southeast Asia, three are located in other parts of Asia and one is from Africa.
NEW BRICS PARTNER COUNTRIES
Thirteen countries were invited to become Brics partners at the 16th Brics summit held in Kazan, Russia, in October 2024.
Partner countries are states that do not automatically have full membership but will work towards membership in the future.
Economy Middle East states that partner countries will have the opportunity to propose initiatives but will not participate in the approval of documents or voting.
Nine of these states accepted the invitation. These countries include Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Indonesia, Kazakhstan,
Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, Nigeria and Uzbekistan. However, four countries have not as yet responded. They include Algeria, Turkey and Vietnam.
BRICS MEMBERS
Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates joined Brics as member states on 1 January 2024.
Membership was offered to six countries during the 15th annual Brics Summit held in Johannesburg in August 2023.
This included Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE accepted the invitation and became Brics members in January 2024.
Argentina initially agreed to join the group but with a change in government in December 2023, the country overturned the initial decision, thus preventing Argentina from joining Brics as a member in January 2024.
While Argentina rejected the invitation, Saudi Arabia still had not made a formal decision as of the end of 2024.
Indonesia is admitted to the BRICS bloc of developing nations
Indonesia has been admitted as a full member of the BRICS bloc of developing economies, the group’s presiding country, Brazil, announced Monday.
Indonesia’s candidacy was endorsed by BRICS leaders in August 2023, according to the foreign ministry of Brazil, which holds the group’s presidency for 2025. However, the world’s fourth most populous nation opted to formally join the bloc only after the formation of its newly elected government last year.
“The Brazilian government welcomes Indonesia’s entry into the BRICS,” the government said in a statement. “With the largest population and economy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia shares with other members a commitment to reforming global governance institutions and contributes positively to deepening South-South cooperation.”
Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement Tuesday said that it reflects Indonesia’s increasingly active role in global issues, and its commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation. “Indonesia views its membership in BRICS as a strategic step to increase collaboration and cooperation with other developing countries, based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and sustainable development,” said the statement.

Brazil will chair the BRICS in 2025, confirming that all member states have approved Indonesia's accession.
This event was part of the actions aimed at expanding the bloc and approved at the BRICS summit in Johannesburg in 2023.
But then Indonesia decided to postpone the official accession until the formation of a newly elected government, and President Prabowo Subianto took office last October.
Mexico detains almost half a million migrants heading to US in the last quarter
Mexican security forces have detained about 475,000 irregular migrants since October, authorities said on Friday, as U.S.
President-elect Donald Trump threatens Mexico with tariffs unless it stops illegal migrants from arriving at the shared border.
Nearly half a million migrants being detained between Oct. 1 and Dec. 26 suggests measures intensified towards the end of the year.
Since the start of the year, some 900,000 migrants have been detained, the government said earlier this month.
“We think it’s a model that works, that can always be improved, but that has responded very
satisfactorily to this (migration) phenomenon,” Foreign Minister Juan Ramon de la Fuente said on Friday.
Speaking alongside President Claudia Sheinbaum at her regular press conference, he said the number of migrants detained at the shared border fell 81% in mid-December when compared to a year earlier.
Israel Ibarra, a researcher on immigration issues at the Colegio de la Frontera Norte, said the increase in detentions was in part due to “the commitment to reduce the transit of people in mobility through Mexico and to the United States” made by Sheinbaum in a recent call with Trump.
The call between Sheinbaum and Trump took place in late November after the Republican threatened to impose a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada if those countries do not stop the arrival of drugs, mostly fentanyl, and migrants.
“The greatest national security threat to the American people is posed by these open borders. The social cost has consistently been well in front of the American people. But I don’t think we’ve talked enough about the financial burden to taxpayers and the fiscal impact.
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) has done a great job. Studies suggest this cost is upwards of $400 billion, but their cost estimate is $150 billion.
The lion’s share of that cost is borne by state and local governments. State and local governments can’t borrow or print money like the federal government, so they have to balance their budgets by either absorbing this cost through raising taxes or they have to cut services to their citizens.”
President Biden created this crisis on day one when he signed his first actions that have undermined border security and encouraged illegal immigration. Despite the unprecedented surge in illegal immigration, the Biden administration chose to deny that there was any problem at all. As a matter of fact, just 11 months in they called it quote cyclical or seasonal. They continue to insist that the border is secure at about the 28-month mark.”

We are allowing the flow of drugs, we are allowing the flow of criminals into the country. I’m from Lancaster County, 2000 miles from the border. We have hundreds of fentanyl deaths in our region. It’s a real problem that we have in every single city, every single area of the country really has been affected by the Biden Administration’s policy on the border.”

Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA):
“Opposition to illegal immigration is not opposition to legal immigration. In fact, the people I find who are the angriest about illegal immigration are the legal immigrants who have played by the rules, waited patiently in line, and are now watching millions of illegal migrants cut in line in front of them. And if we’re going to encourage and reward illegal immigration, which is a clear and consistent policy of the Democrats today, then there’s no point in legal immigration.”
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX):
“This notion that people flowing across the border, I heard one of my colleagues on either side of the aisle talk about the benefits of parole, that somehow that was fixing the system. Is that not in fact, a backdoor way to dump more people into the United States rather than having them visibly come across the border, enraging the American people rightfully, and rather fly them into the United States to the tune of 400,000 people last year, including the State of Texas and the state of Florida, and fly them into the country under parole when the law requires a case by case analysis.”
“The federal government spent over $66 billion on illegal immigrants in 2023. According to FAIR, does anyone here want to guess how much we’ve spent on homeless veterans in 2023? Anybody want to guess? $66 billion on illegals and $3 billion on people who have laid down their lives for this country.”
Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI):
The cartels are operating as brokers and playing all sides against the middle to create the environment that, because of their use of drones because of their use of different submersibles, because of all the things they use, that there are probably things that we don’t see that are tied together for the benefit of those against us.”
The Bottom Line:
The House Budget Committee’s hearing on the “Cost of the Border Crisis” revealed the uncomfortable truth about the cost of President Biden’s border crisis.
We continue to Sound the Alarm on the cost of the border crisis. American taxpayers are paying at least $150.7 billion in order to cover the costs of President Biden’s open border policies. This cost burden on the American taxpayer is in addition to the failed economic policies of this Administration. All Americans are paying the price for Biden’s radical policies, and we exposed their true cost.

What do Michael Jordan, Mateus, and Maye Musk have in Common with Immigrants?
Resilience and courage are essential for turning hardships into opportunities in the challenging journey of immigration. What can Michael Jordan, Ilson Mateus, and Maye Musk teach immigrants seeking new horizons in the United States? This article delves into how these remarkable individuals' stories of perseverance and success offer valuable lessons in determination, adaptability, and resilience.
Understanding these lessons could be the key to overcoming adversity and building a successful path in a world of constant changes and challenges. Resilience is the defining trait of those who immigrate to the United States. Over the past five years, this word has gained significant prominence, carrying a profound meaning: resilience is the ability to adapt to and overcome difficult situations. It's about confronting challenges, emerging stronger through learning, and taking actions that enhance our journey, regardless of location. Immigrating to the United States is a complex and challenging decision. For those who leave behind family and friends, arriving alone to start a new life can be particularly tough.
Those who come ahead of their spouse and children may endure a period of sadness, homesickness, loneliness, and tears filled with struggles and difficulties. Along with language barriers and adjusting to the American way of

life, the world is now facing tensions, with governments adopting policies that burden global populations with failed socialist and communist. concepts. Despite this, the United States upholds democracy and freedom of speech as cornerstones for its citizens.
Resilience is essential for victory. It is through defeat that we learn and prepare to move forward.
I recall the example of Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players ever. When asked what made him a winner and the best in the world, he mentioned that he missed over 9,000 shots, lost 300 games, and, when given the chance to make the game-winning shot, failed 27 times.
Let, people only remember his successes. This example is perfect for those seeking to migrate to America: you must work, hustle, and fight daily, often without help.
You might not know but Ilson Mateus, one of the most prominent entrepreneurs in Brazil, owner of the country’s fourth-largest supermarket chain, and several other investments.
Even when they live in Brazil, some Brazilians are examples of success and wealth.
Fatherless and starting to work at seven, he amassed an immeasurable fortune and continues to reside in Brazil. However, his children and grandchildren are preparing to move to the U.S. winner.
His story is a prime example how a tough life and resilience shape a true winner.
Another inspiring figure is Maye Musk, mother of Elon Musk. Now 76, Maye is a renowned model walking on international runways. She began her life at the age of 15 and, at 31, after divorcing an abusive husband, built a career as a nutritionist and model while raising her family. Her children are all examples of success: Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX; Kimbal Musk, own-
er of The Kitchen Next Door restaurant chain and founder of the philanthropic organization Big Green; and her daughter, an executive at a major company.
They all are the product of their mother’s resilience, who faced challenges and losses with faith and confidence. As the saying goes, An optimist sees a solution to every problem, while a pessimist sees a problem in every solution, resilience is vital for those who immigrate.
If you are not mentally anddphysically prepared for the adversities, you may feel lost and regret or even consider returning to Brazil or your country of origin. Resilience is the courage to move forward for what is best for you and your loved ones — your parents, spouse, children, and friends.
Imagine embarking on a safari in Africa. No matter how well-prepared you are, you’ll inevitably face the unpredictable: the animals’ reactions and your responses to them. This comparison, though stark, is apt.
The United States can be likened to a’‘civilized jungle,’ with native competitors who have studied at the best American universities and enjoy every advantage.
As Brazilians and Latinos, we hail from developing countries with significant challenges and injustices, but we've learned to be resilient. That resilience, preparation. and determination will set you apart in this 'civilized jungle'
Brazil is currently experiencing a political crisis. With a Supreme Federal Court that acts with impunity and a Congress that is nearly submissive, it is steering towards a scenario similar to Venezuela and Cuba. Therefore, we immigrants have the advantage of being highly adaptable, a crucial trait in facing such challenges.
But we must not grow complacent. The comfort zone is dangerous and leads to stagnation.
If you wish to live in America, use every skill you've acquired (physical, mental,
Marco Rubio’s plans first trip as Secretary of State to Panama
Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to embark on his first foreign trip since taking office, with Panama as his primary destination.
This visit comes amid heightened tensions following President Donald Trump controversial remarks about reclaiming the Panama Canal. Rubio’s trip, scheduled to begin in late January and extend into early February, will also include stops in Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic.
The visit to Panama is particularly significant given Trump recent statements suggesting the U.S. might use military force to take back control of the Panama Canal.
During his visit, Rubio is expected to address two key issues on the Trump administration’s foreign policy agenda, curtailing illegal migration and discussing the future of the Panama Canal.
By Julio Gonzaga AP
Panamanian officials have strongly opposed Trump’s comments, with President José Raúl Mulino asserting that “the canal belongs to Panama and will continue to belong to Panama”
Rubio’s trip aims to reinforce diplom atic ties and address regional concerns, particularly in light of Trump’s aggressive stance on the canal.
The visit will also provide an opportunity for Rubio to engage with leaders from other Central American countries, focusing on issues such as migration and regional stability.

I don’t think there’s a better way to start racing Dakar Rally than with a junior team.”
- Joining Leaverton in this year’s Junior Team intake is Gonçalo Guerreiro. The 23-year-old has built himself a reputation in Portugal, helped by a victory in the SSV class at the 2022 Portuguese Cross-Country Championship plus three Baja Portalegre 500 wins.

From my Desk - Life Resolution
The year of 2024 came as a storm. Personally it was a yaear dedicated to health concerns and unfolded in a very surprising way. All around, we watched people making important decisions for the wrong reasons. We sometimes forget how our motivations can change as fast as we say ok.
I don’t think people realize how essential it is to understand and absorb the idea that as age progresses, more and more our body needs attention and and a comprehensive amount of dedication.
An example is how many of us gets an annual check up? How much attention do we give to minor headaches and pains. The journay to know our bodies require time and determination. It is though this journey that you can rewrite your future and avoid deadful diseases.
Many tipes of cancer don’t offer symptoms, we need to be vigilant. Exercise, suplements, a balanced diet will be your closest companions though life.
For younger humans, it may seem boring and many times, not important enough. Time flies when you are having fun until you don’t have fun anymore. Please, be vigilannt, be careful with yourself. You deserve a great life.
Until next time

Ayesha Kamal Modern Islamic Art
Ayesha Kamal is a modern Islamic calligrapher based in Lahore, Pakistan.
Her work is recognized for details and precise strokes. She has been painting for the past 10 years and has the ability to translate beauty and energy onto the canvas creating a whole domain of colours and textures.
Ayesha’s paintings are widely displayed, exhibited and appreciated all around the globe. She has been documented and interviewed at BBC Urdu and many other international channels. She has done many hospitals, banks, army and government projects as well.
She is young and very gracious. I constantly thought about the obstacle she had to endure to get where she is, since women are not always on the spotlight in the Middle East, as she is. Her work requires concentration and detail, in every art pieve a little of her quiet exuberance shows,
Her work is sacred and exquisit, the world needs this gifted work.
Her statement
“I try to emphasize the message of the Quran through my art. I believe that your soul connects to a mystery as soon as you observe a piece of calligraphy whether you can or cannot understand what’s written.”
