Rio de Janeiro Inaugurates the World's Tallest Floating Christmas Tree The 17th Bradesco Seguros Christmas Tree, the world’s tallest floating Christmas tree, according to the Guinness Book of Records, was inaugurated Saturday night, December 1st, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with a free major event that included world-renowned Brazilian singers Simone and Emilio Santiag With this year’s theme “Christmas Around the World,” the Bradesco Seguros Christmas Tree, now in its 17th consecutive year, is one of three major events in Rio de Janeiro, after Carnaval and New Year’s Eve. Starting this Sunday, December 2nd , the tree will be lit daily through January 6, Three Kings Day, when the lights will be turned on for the last time this edition.

O tradicional concerto de inauguração da Árvore de Natal da Bradesco Seguros, a maior árvore de Natal flutuante do mundo, segundo o Guinness Book of Records, foi realizado na noite deste sábado, 1º de dezembro, reunindo milhares de pessoas no entorno da Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, no Rio de Janeiro. Considerado o terceiro maior evento da cidade, após o Carnaval e o Réveillon, a Árvore conta, desde suaprimeira edição - em 1996 - com patrocínio exclusivo da Bradesco Seguros e o apoio da Prefeitura da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Com o tema “Todos os Natais do Mundo”, a edição 2012 da Árvore de Natal da Bradesco Seguros celebra a magia dos festejos natalinos pelo mundo. 2012 Swarovski Star Unveiled For World Famous Rockefeller Center® Christmas Tree Swarovski Star that will sit atop the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree was revealed. This is the ninth year a Swarovski Star shines on the world famous tree. Swarovski is the leading designer and producer of fashion jewelry and crystal decor objects. The 2012 Swarovski Star is comprised of 25,000 crystals, with 1,000,000 facets, and it measures 9 ½ feet in diameter and 1 ½ feet deep. The Star weighs 550 pounds, including 300 pounds of crystal panels, and is composed of six outer rays and six smaller inner rays. The main surfaces of the rays are made of point-mounted safety glass which is the same shatter-proof glass that adorns the facades of New York City buildings. The crystals are affixed to the inner sides of the glass in a tight, scale-like pattern to ensure maximum brilliance.
After the reveal, the Star was raised atop the 80-foot-high, 50-foot wide, 10-ton Norway Spruce in Rockefeller Center, where it will sit for the remainder of the 2012 holiday season.
Swarovski will offer a selection of holiday jewelry and ornaments on sale at the Swarovski holiday kiosk at Rockefeller Center; at Swarovski boutiques nationwide and online at www.Swarovski.com. The collection includes stylish star-themed crystal jewelry and an Annual Edition Ornament inspired by the design of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Star. The 80(th )Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony was held on Wednesday, November 28(th) , from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. The two-hour ceremony was televised live, locally by WNBC-TV from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. and nationally on NBC from 8 p.m.-9 p.m.
A team of nine artisans spent 1,200 hours installing, programming and testing the Star to ensure the effects would withstand the challenging winter weather conditions 80-feet above Rockefeller Plaza. A replica of the Swarovski Star will also be on display in Rockefeller Center to allow visitors the opportunity to get a closer view of the detailing and craftsmanship.
Rockefeller Center officially began the Tree Lighting Ceremony in 1933, when a Christmas tree was erected in front of the then-RCA Building and covered with 700 lights. Christmas trees in Rockefeller Center have ranged from 50-foot Pines to 100foot Norway Spruces and are viewed by millions of spectators during the holiday season.
"We are proud to once again celebrate the holiday season at Rockefeller Center," said Wayne Page, senior vice president of Swarovski North America Limited's Consumer Goods Business. "The star exemplifies the Swarovski tradition of innovation and creativity."
Spectators can view the lit tree each day from 5:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.; all day (24 hours) on Christmas; and from 5:30 a.m. 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve. The last day to view the tree is January 7, 2013.

Este é o nono ano que uma estrela Swarovski brilha na árvore mais famosa do mundo. Swarovski é o principal designer e produtor de moda de jóias e objetos de decoração em cristal. A Estrela 2012 Swarovski é formada por 25000 cristais, com 1.000.000 de facetas, e mede nove pés e meio de diâmetro e um pé e meio de profundidade. A estrela pesa 550 Libras, incluindo 300 quilos de painéis de cristal, e é composta de seis raios externos e seis pequenos raios internos. Ela foi construido na Alemanha e enviada para os EUA em 49 containers. As principais superfícies dos raios são feitos de vidro de segurança, blindado, que é o vidro a prova de estilhaços o mesmo que adornam as fachadas dos edifícios de Nova York. Os cristais são colocadas nos lados interiores do vidro em um apertado, padrão de escala para garantir o brilho máximo. A arvore esta a disposição para visitas todos os dias das 5:30 AM as 11:30 PM todos os dias. No dia 25 de Dezembro por 24 horas, e na noite de Ano Novo das 5:30 Am as 9:00 Pm. O ultimo dia de visitas esta marcado para dia 7 de Janeiro de 2013.

It is the most wonderful time of the Year! We know how decorating for the Holidays can be taken to a next level! And this is one of the cases. The Slacks have been aggressively decorating for 21 years. This year they have 55,000 lights, including the 70 ft. Wall ol 19,000 lights that are positioned 2 inches apart, roofline to the ground, a 13' light tree with 1,000 lights, five large inflatables, a 5 foot gingerbread house and many other decorations....hooked up to over 375 extension cords and 8 outside dedicated 20 amp circuits. They started installation October 1 and finished Nov 28. We were there on December 2nd, and all the neighbors were over, to celebrate the arrival of one more Holiday Season in the Neighborhood.

Olá amigos, Mais outro mês que se inicia e com ele os preparativos para a comemoração da festa máxima crista da humanidade “ o Natal ”……Nascimento de Jesus. Sempre gostei muito dessa época do ano, as pessoas se tornam mais amigas, as ruas ficam lindas todas Iluminadas, parece que o amor esta no ar ! Tempo de reflexão, mudanças, esperanças, novos planos de um tempo melhor que há de vir! Tempo de alegria, mas também Tempo de Saudades, Saudades dos entes queridos que já não estão mais em nosso convívio material, porem continuam em nossos corações e acreditamos que continuam espiritualmente ao nosso lado. Saudades da minha infância, dos Natais com mamãe e meus irmãos reunidos , com alegria, esperando o Papai Noel, que as vezes só nos deixava uns chocolates mas éramos felizes!!!!! Saudades da minha filha querida Priscilla (que já esta em outra dimensão) que gostava de me ajudar na Decoração da arvore Saudades da infância dos meus filhos, da decoração da casa, compra dos presentes, preparação da ceia. Lembro que eu adorava e ainda adoro, montar a arvore com a ajuda das crianças, eu sempre dava um jeitinho de falar que eu precisava muito da ajuda deles. Muita coisa passou em minha vida, coisas boas e ruins acredito que cada dia é uma lição, na qual aprendemos e mudamos a maneira de encarar os acontecimentos. Enfim, temos que aprender a jogar com as cartas que nos são dadas

Orlando Events Unlimited in a partnership with Bank United and the Downtown Development Board brought the Orlando Christmas Parade and Holiday in the Park Festival back to Downtown Orlando. The procession took place near Lake Eola Park (195 N. Rosalind Avenue) on Sunday, December 2 . This year’s parade theme was “Jingle all the Way” and featured 65 parade entries to include illuminated mini trains, horsedrawn carriages, the 2012 Olympians, 20 non-profit groups and of course Santa. It was an amazing group that showed

It was well attended by members of the media, local hospitality companies as well as Orlando District 6 Commissioner Samuel Ings. Once the event was over, I had an exclusive interview to with the General Manager of GOL Airlines…. SEAN: Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and your background? PEROTTI: Well, I started as a Captain in the Brazilian air force several years ago. Left airforce in 1994. Then I started Consume airlines and implementing new programs for the last 15 years. In 2007 I joined the team of Webjet. My duty was operations and was owned by CVC. Went from 2 to 34 aircraft and last year GOL purchased WebJet. I was there as VP of operations and I assumed position of CEO of Webjet. Now I am available to start these new operations as I have been doing this my whole career. SEAN: What is the enticement for Orlando? What is the big draw to have operations here? PEROTTI: The whole area of Central Florida and Miami have been the best destinations for Brazil. Orlando and Miami are big destinations for Brazilians as well as Dominicans. When we thought of Santo Domingo, we had to consider this fact as well. Lots of Dominicans in Central Florida so it’s a great starting point. SEAN: Obviously with the World Cup and Olympics coming to Brazil, there has to be anticipation for a huge surge in Brazilian
air traffic from here. Along with your partnership with Delta, do you anticipate opening an actual hub in Orlando or Miami to compensate down the road? PEROTTI: It’s too far to look at right now. We are doing studies every year, but we are focused on the operation now. Then looking to add new routes in future. SEAN: Gol has been mostly known as a domestic carrier in Brasil. Now with this new program, do you feel people in the United States will come to know more about your airline because of the international presence? PEROTTI: Well, we have flown charter flights to the United States for many years, but yes this program will be a consolidation of all of our efforts and we are looking forward to the expansion. This is the first start for regular flights out of South America, and we are excited about the prospects. It is clear that Mr. Perotti and GOL Airlines view this only as a small step in their future. They armed and ready with a fleet of new, modern planes and look forward to a great future here and throughout the United States. We wish them well in the future and thank them for their time.

ORLANDO -- It’s at a venue such as a hospital where you really learn how important the presence and the inspiration of a professional athlete is for children. And it’s also a setting where you realize how much these players appreciate the support from their biggest fans and how much they truly care about the health and spirit of patients recovering from a variety of illnesses. There were huge smiles, tons of laughter and a boost of holiday buoyancy spread throughout the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children on Thursday. Orlando Magic players Glen “Big Baby” Davis, Hedo Turkoglu and Kyle O’Quinn joined Community Ambassadors Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw, Magic Dancers and team mascot STUFF to deliver gifts, sign autographs and play games for young patients recovering at the hospital. “To make someone smile, it’s really important and I’m blessed to be in a position to help children during these times,” said Davis, whose cheerfulness and charisma immediately uplifted a few of his adored fans when he arrived at each of their rooms. It was essentially the same for another fan favorite, Turkoglu, who has been involved in innumerable charities throughout Central Florida for the past several years.
O’Quinn, meanwhile, who despite being just a rookie is already having a big influence in the community, was extremely exultant to provide a boost to so many kids in need of support. “It’s showing that your appearance has an impact on these kids,” the first-year center said. “These are times that these kids will never forget so I am so glad to be here to help in any way I can.” Thursday’s participation was just one of many scheduled events that the Magic will be involved with during this holiday season. They include: Jameer Nelson purchased an assortment of gifts that he will personally deliver to a local family. J.J. Redick and Andrew Nicholson will take 75 kids from the Boys and Girls Club on a holiday shopping spree and Davis will be back in action when he distributes toys to many underprivileged children. By Amy Litter A Clear Path (SPECIAL TOOLS, FINE TUNING) The ability to use fine tuning is a great privilege which allows us to experience the possibility of the perfect connection which was given to human beings. Obviously, the way to get into that special place is to dedicate complete attention to each and everything that surrounds us. We should begin by paying attention, which is a difficult task to a large number of us, people that float in universes full of distractions and non-attention. Knowing that, which would be the sense that you would choose to use to reach the goal of complete attention? Would it be feasible to dedicate our complete attention to anything, while dealing with the fascinating distractions that surround us? The chosen sense, or tool, to experience the world of fine tuning shall enable us to develop attention enough to the task at hand – we should be able to interact, understanding at the same time the world around us. Mainly, we should understand the impact of the experience on our own life. The beginning of the practice to achieve the fine tuning ability brings frustrations similar to any other training experience. Before we master it, the challenges scare us. We make mistakes, we loose self-trust and we believe we’ll never get it right. Worse yet, in the beginning of any new challenge, we frequently believe that the subject has nothing to do with us. We also believe that the newly acquired knowledge will not add anything to our lives. With this very common attitude our instinct of self-protection works to prevent the grief of disappointment. As we start to develop the ability to pay attention, it is very easy to get distracted. At the time, the power of concentration is still fragile and thoughts easily move away from
our objective. Whenever we abandon our effort to concentrate, the door is open and any new interest comes to occupy the vacuum left by our loss of interest in concentrating on the first objective. At that moment we are facing a challenge which might renew our interest in experiencing a life turnaround. If we are serious abou developing the ability of mastering the ability of fine tuning, this situation creates an opportunity. The trick will be to stop, analyze what just happened, observe the attention deflection and, using our will power, bring it back to the desired point. As in any training/apprenticeship, repetition will bring mastery. As we dedicate time and effort to the control of the fine tuning, we perfect our innate ability to understand the miraculous path of life. When that stage is achieved, a Universe usually hidden from our normal perception may slowly surface. That moment shows an unseen panorama, a new reality we have never dreamed of. Then we may become one of those who perceive the real role of the human being on Earth. As we reach a level of sharper tuning, the Universe shows its desired harmony, things in life become clearer and the whole experience gets exponentially better. As we go deeper in our internal changes, it gets easier to perceive the deep significance of the worldly experience. As we become able to see life opening up in front of our very eyes, we are able to perceive everything clearer and to see ahead of us the next steps, before they begin to take form.

In his month’s edition I would like to give my thanks. I want to thank all of you, who are always reading everything I have written, the ones who are always encouraging me to run after my dream! And you guys at AboutUS team who are always giving me opportunities. 2012 has been a year of great achievements and many new moments in my life and none of this would have been possible without your support always connected with me and everything what I do. We did more than 40 interviews with Brazilian celebrities, many prizes given and received, I learned so many things and gathered so many friends who've been a great support. Cristiano was the box office champion in 2012, his show was named best of the year, very professional, charismatic, humble a complete singer, the show lasted more than 2 hours and a lot of people very happy with it. So I close my interviews for 2012 with sue that I have reached my goal for the year, but already have a very busy schedule for 2013 and hope to continue to count on the participation and support from all of you! Ernesto Saboia de Albuquerque Neto, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 1964 is a contemporary visual artist. Ernesto Neto began exhibiting in Brazil in 1988 and has had solo exhibitions abroad since 1995. He represented with Vik Muniz their country in 2001 Venice Biennale, his installations were featured in Brazil's national pavilion and in the international group exhibition at the Arsenale. Neto's work has been described as "beyond abstract minimalism". His installations are large, soft, biomorphic sculptures that fill an exhibition space that viewers can touch, poke, and walk on or through. They are made of white, stretchy material -- amorphous forms stuffed with Styrofoam pellets or, on occasion, aromatic spices. Evandro Machado, born in Blumenau (1973), lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. At the age of 16, Machado started as a newspaper cartoonist. After his first trip to Europe in 2006, for the Program Dynamic Encounters in London, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he studied at the School of Arts Visuals of Parque Lage, learning with Charles Watson, Fernando Cocchiarale, Chico Cunha, Franz Manata, Luiz Ernesto, Márcio Botner and Grória Ferreira. He first exhibited in Rio de Janeiro in 2008: Parque Lage (Galeria Ana Maria Niemayer, RJ), NAU (Instituto de Arquitetura do Brasil, RJ) and Abre-Alas 5 (A Gentil Carioca, RJ). In 2009, he participated in Paisagens Improváveis (Ateliê Subterrânea, RS) and was featured in a TV program on TV Futura alongside artists such as, Marcos Chaves, Franz Manata and Anna Bella Geiger from Mundial Health Organization. Marcelo Dalla e as Mandalas Nesta edição vamos falar um pouco sobre mandalas. A c r e d i t o que a maioria dos nossos leitores já sabem o que é uma mandala, mas para quem não sabe, são desenhos sagrados com forma circular.
A forma mandálica pode ser encontrada em todo lugar, na Terra e no Cosmo: a célula, o embrião, as sementes, o caule das árvores, as flores, os cristais, as conchas, as estrelas, os planetas, o Sol, a Lua, as nebulosas, as galáxias. A própria Terra foi formada por uma explosão de forma mandálica. Se observarmos à nossa volta, perceberemos estruturas mandálicas onde nunca pensaríamos haver: o pão ou o macarrão que comemos começam com a massa que depois de amassada vira uma bola – mandala tridimensional – para crescer. O prato onde comemos tem a forma circular, e quando nos servimos formamos uma mandala colorida, que irá nos alimentar e nos nutrir.

Como e quando se dá o seu primeiro contato com as Artes? - Desde criança. Já na escola primária os professores me colocavam para os papéis principais no teatro, talvez por ter sido uma criança extrovertida. Gostava de escrever, desenhar, pintar.. e fui desenvolvendo esses dons como passatempo, até que se tornaram a minha profissão. Quais são suas principais influências? - São muitas! Esta é uma pergunta muito difícil de responder, tomaria páginas e páginas. (rs) A religiosidade também é outro traço marcante em seus trabalhos. Como isso começou? - Prefiro trocar a palavra “religiosidade” por “espiritualidade”. Gosto de beber de várias fontes. Sou geminiano e a curiosidade é a marca registrada deste signo. Mas os geminianos também são muito mentais, racionais, então fui buscar as respostas do meu jeito. Minha fé foi construída nessa busca, é uma fé raciocinada. E que só cresce a cada dia. Já criei mandalas baseadas na Geometria Sagrada, nos crop circles (aqueles desenhos misteriosos que surgem do dia pra noite nas plantações), em pedaços de desenhos aquarelados, etc. Até que aprendi a criar fractais com um programa chamado Apophysis. De repente, todo um universo de infinitas possibilidades se abriu. Comecei a usar esses fractais como base. Depois, no Photoshop, separo uma fatia e monto a mandala. É mágico! Elas surgem espontaneamente, não tenho muito controle do processo. Quanto aos nomes, são escolhidos de acordo com o sentimento ou sensação que a mandala me traz, ou de acordo com as primeiras palavras que me vêm à mente.

‘Under The Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid’ Opens at New Fantasyland Guests enter the enchanting story of “The Little Mermaid,” complete with characters and songs from the Academy Award-winning Disney animated motion picture, when they board Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. Set in and around Ariel’s underwater world and located inside New Fantasyland, the new attraction combines the enduring appeal of a classic Disney “dark ride” with wonderful technological innovations to offer guests a personal journey into the scenes of the film. Adventurers on the attraction will feel as if they are descending below the ocean’s surface, one of the special effects that take this “dark ride” to a new level of sophistication. Once “under the sea,” guests will find themselves immersed in the
classic story of “The Little Mermaid,” sharing Ariel’s adventure through advanced Audio-Animatronics technology, a magical cast of characters and a captivating musical score that will entice everyone to sing along. “It’s so exciting to bring these classic Disney characters to life,” said Chris Beatty, creative director for New Fantasyland. “To be able to recreate Ariel’s world and invite our guests to Prince Eric’s Castle and then under the sea to meet Ariel and her friends is something that’s truly magical.”

‘Out of the sea … Wish I could be … Part of that world’ Guests arrive at the shoreline of Prince Eric’s Castle and descend through the grottos and caverns to board their clamshell.
Along the queue, the fun begins. Guests encounter a shipwreck along the smooth rocks of the cliffs. As guests descend deeper into the grottos and caverns, sea life, including barnacles and starfish, appear to help guide them to their destination. Mischievous little crabs engage guests in games of “trash” or “treasure” to help the crabs fill their treasure chest. The ride loading area features a one-of-a-kind 86-foot hand-painted mural depicting the characters from “The Little Mermaid.” Guests begin their journey by boarding their own colorful “clamshell” ride vehicles, part of the Omnimover ride system that is familiar to fans of the “Doom Buggies” in the Haunted Mansion attraction at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland park. The Omnimover, a Walt Disney Imagineering design, gives passengers a point-of-view experience, directing their attention to the key scenes in the attraction.Scuttle, the tale-spinning seagull, welcomes guests as they embark on their adventure, doing his best to tell the story of Ariel’s ambition to leave her ocean home and become part of the human world.

To meet Ariel and participate in her adventure, guests must first head “under the sea.” A combination of special effects creates a sense of descending to the ocean floor, all without leaving the clamshell vehicle. The first locale on the underwater journey is Ariel’s grotto, where she keeps the treasures she has found on land – whozits, whatzits and thingamabobs – and sings “Part of Your World.” Next, in a dazzling musical extravaganza with an underwater party atmosphere, dozens of singing and playing marine creatures (“the carp with the harp, the newt with the flute”) try to encourage Ariel to remain “Under the Sea.” The conductor, of course, is Sebastian the crab.
’It won’t cost much … Just your voice! … You poor unfortunate soul’
Despite the warnings, Ariel is determined to visit the Sea Witch to find a way to become human. Ursula’s lair is another stunning scene, featuring her slithering henchmen Flotsam and Jetsam and Ursula herself – 7½-feet tall and 12-feet wide, from tentacle tip to tentacle tip. Ursula sings her signature piece, “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” Next, as Ariel’s wish to be human is granted, guests follow her up to the ocean surface, where they witness Ariel’s friends encouraging Prince Eric to “Kiss the Girl.” This inspires a stormy response from the villainous Ursula and leads to the finale, which holds some surprises – even for those who know and love the motion picture. Created by Walt Disney Imagineering, Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid features the characters from the beloved motion picture, including many of the original voice talents, and is enhanced with the iconic award-winning songs of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. Glen Keane, supervising animator and character designer for Ariel in the film, was a creative consultant in the attraction’s development. “Many times I’ve thought, ‘Why didn’t we have a Mermaid attraction sooner?’” Keane said. “But now I’m glad we didn’t. Dumbo, the Flying Elephant - a Fantasyland icon - has doubled in size. Two Dumbos – one going clockwise and other counterclockwise – take guests circling above Storybook Circus in ride vehicles they maneuver themselves. The two Dumbos are connected to an indoor “big top” allowing guests to enjoy circus-themed activities while awaiting their ride time with the lovable pachyderm.

Downtown Disney Welcomes Splitsville Luxury Lanes
The latest trend in boutique bowling is rolling into Downtown Disney with the December 2012 opening of Splitsville Luxury Lanes. The upscale, retro-style bowling venue will be the largest in the bowling brand’s fleet and joins other fun, family-friendly entertainment options at Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World Resort. Splitsville at Downtown Disney is the bowling brand’s only two-level location with 30 lanes and more than 50,000 square feet of entertainment space – twice the size of any other Splitsville – featuring billiards, live entertainment, a balcony bar with sweeping views and upscale dining options that cater to the entire family. This is not your father’s bowling alley.
The Splitsville menu is distinctly different than your typical bowling alley fare. Guided by award-winning chef Tim Cushman, the menu features a variety of higher-end offerings such as grilled Mahi Mahi with “Voodoo” shrimp, filet sliders and grilled chicken parmesan, plus a kids menu, in addition to traditional bowling alley food items.
