It was a pleasure to sit down with Ryan N. Phillips who plays “Lumiere” for this Hotspots Exclusive interview:
At what age did you begin to perform and how? I was 13 when it happened. My older sister was involved with theater so when I got to middle school I tried it and got cast in Music Man and I was hooked. I wanted to do it full time so much that I gave up baseball.
Whendidyouknowperformingwouldbeyourcareer? Probably right before I went to college. I went to a performing arts high school and they informed us how hard the business was. However, I loved it so much I didn't want to give it up and I got into the BFA program at the University of Miami. After College, I moved to New York and have been working ever since.
Other than this show, what has been your favorite role and show and why? I was Frederick in Pirates of the Penzance in the Connecticut repertoire theater, which was directed by Terrance Mann, who was the original beast on Broadway. That was so much fun I will never forget it.
Since you went to college here in Miami and I know you are a foodie, what are you looking forward to eat here in South Florida? Cuban food…..I can't wait to eat Cuban Pork and Plantains…I am so excited about it! I love Cuban cuisine. It was one of my favorite things about being in South Florida for 4 years.
What should the South Florida audiences expect from this production of Beauty and the Beast? They should expect fun. It has something for everybody whether you are 6 or 96. There are characters that everyone can relate to and the story “Never Judge a Book by its Cover” is something everyone can learn from. You never know, a beast might just be a prince.
What's ahead for Ryan? Well this tour wraps in July, so I will be going on vacation. I am going to see my family for a few weeks and then I am going back to New York City to hit the audition grind and hoping you will see me on Broadway real soon!

What are you planning for POP With Pride at W Fort Lauderdale?
Pride is about celebrating diversity and W's passion points are music, fashion and design. Magic happens when you bring all those elements together, and this event will no doubt wow. I've always had a passion for pop culture and music and I plan on providing an uplifting, anthem laced and nostalgic house set.
How did you hook up with W Fort Lauderdale?
Most recently we collaborated on the Atlantis and RSVP Sail Away events that transformed the “Living Room.” We share a vision of always offering what's new/next and we're about to unleash some exciting future plans.
Where are you drawing inspiration from for styling POP With Pride? I've got so much to choose from when
I'm currently reinvigorating my record label 8025 Alliance and in the studio collaborating with multiple producers. I'm wrapping up production on my first debut single and remix package as a recording artist. W Fort Lauderdale and I are also working on making the destination a hub for music with live performances and spectacular productions.
You're going through a rebranding. What is the motivation behind it?
Maximus 3000 was a moniker I used for many years. The body of work I did as Maximus was life changing and a passion of mine 24/7. All things change and evolve and the decision to “come out” as my true self was fueled by reaching a wider audience both for my visual and design work as well as my music portfolio. I'm an Artist, and I traverse in many mediums. Changing to simply Alex Ferbeyre was a way for me to reveal the earthy, spiritual person I identify more with today.
What inspires you creatively?
Collaborating with innovators and brands who are pushing the creative envelope. I'm tuned in to executing multilayered events with a heightened sensory experience. Something that's bold, witty and that wows.
What's next for you?
W Fort Lauderdale and I have got some incredibly exciting projects that will bring live music to all of it's amazing indoor and outdoor venues. We're going to amp up the Living Room, WET Deck and 24th floor WOW Suite and make this summer sizzle. I'm also working on several multimedia projects including audio, video, digital and visual elements.

On the season premiere, Daniel is the guy who was poking male contestants in the belly button, cruising the waiters, stripping down to his underwear to show off his body, and then jumping drunkenly in the pool. Kinda sounds like he was in paradise. Maybe "If I Was Gay?" could be the name of his spin-off. Many times, people in the public eye use their position as a platform to air dirty laundry. Remember when Donald Trump gave out Lindsey Graham's cell phone number? I was reminded of this while following the evolving story of Ozzy Osbourne cheating on Sharon with a hairdresser. Last week, Kelly Osbourne posted this to her four million Twitter followers: "Anyone looking for cheap chunky LOW-lights a blow out and a blowjob call" and added the private phone number of the hairdresser. While most people applauded her for attacking the alleged homewrecker, one person took her to task, saying, "Hate your father not the woman. He did this 2 ur family." Kelly was not having it: "Are you in my family? No you are not you have no idea what she did! So keep ur high-mighty opinions to yourself!" She then added: "My father is almost 70
//Mark Salling// ever heard of elder abuse?" I must be missing something - how is giving a 70-year-old married man a blow job elder abuse? Maybe she used her teeth! One of our first stories of 2016 was when police raided the home of "Glee" star Mark Salling and arrested him for possession of child pornography. Now, five months later, a grand jury has indicted him for receiving and possessing child pornography on his computer and a flash drive. According to the indictment, Salling used the Internet to receive a still image and a video on December 26, 2015. The second count charges him with possessing two videos of child pornography on December 29th. Just to be accurate (and because I know you're wondering), in both instances, the images were of young girls. In addition to these two instances, reports are circulating that Salling's computer was also found to hold thousands of images of children "significantly younger than 15 or 16 years old". If found guilty, receiving child porn has a minimum sentence of five years in prison. So now we know what happens if you receive photos of naked, underage youths. But what if you send naked photos of yourself to underage youths? Because that's the charge against Bruce Lanctot, a high school teacher in New Hampshire. It should be noted that Lanctot is not only a teacher, but co-advisor of the Gay Straight Alliance Club. Lanctot is currently on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues. A l l e g e d l y, L a n c t o t w a s
communicating with several students via the gay hook-up app Grindr. According to reports, all of the alleged "victims" are boys (well, duh, it's Grindr), and the youngest is 15 years old. However, if the "victims" are on Grindr, they are looking for sex and open to all sorts of communication - including receiving messages and photos. And, I hasten to add, Grindr does make all users confirm that they are 18 years of age or older. While reports say that the teacher specifically targeted his students, I have yet to hear any evidence of that. Plus, have you looked at some of the profile photos on Grindr? You could be chatting with me and never know it. PHEW! Whoopi Goldberg is executive producing a new show for Oxygen next season. "Strut" is a reality show about Slay Model Management, the world's first transgender modeling agency. Goldberg states that we would be surprised how many of the models we see hawking products are transgender. "You may even be surprised to discover that you have been seeing and interacting with transgender men and women in ways you didn't even realize." A number of you have been asking me if "Dancing with the Stars" winner Nyle DiMarco is in a relationship. We don't know specifics, but he has been spending a lot of time hiking (shirtless, naturally) with Rodiney Santiago yes, the same Rodiney who appeared on "The A List" with Reichen (remember Reichen?). In addition to modeling, Rodiney appears to be available for "private training sessions" and also private Skype calls at the price of $150 for
