What is TRUVADA for PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis)?

TRUVADA is a prescription medicine that can be used for PrEP to help reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 infection when used together with safer sex practices. This use is only for adults who are at high risk of getting HIV-1 through sex. This includes HIV-negative men who have sex with men and who are at high risk of getting infected with HIV-1 through sex, and male-female sex partners when one partner has HIV-1 infection and the other does not. Ask your healthcare provider if you have questions about how to prevent getting HIV-1. Always practice safer sex and use condoms to lower the chance of sexual contact with body fluids. Never reuse or share needles or other items that have body fluids on them.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

I What is the most important information I should know about TRUVADA for PrEP? Before taking TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce your risk of getting HIV-1 infection: u You must be HIV-negative. You must get tested to make sure that you do not already have HIV-1 infection. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 unless you are confirmed to be HIV-negative. u Many HIV-1 tests can miss HIV-1 infection in a person who has recently become infected. If you have flu-like symptoms, you could have recently become infected with HIV-1. Tell your healthcare provider if you had a flu-like illness within the last month before starting TRUVADA for PrEP or at any time while taking TRUVADA for PrEP. Symptoms of new HIV-1 infection include tiredness, fever, joint or muscle aches, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, night sweats, and/or enlarged lymph nodes in the neck or groin. While taking TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce your risk of getting HIV-1 infection: u You must continue using safer sex practices. Just taking TRUVADA for PrEP may not keep you from getting HIV-1. u You must stay HIV-negative to keep taking TRUVADA for PrEP. u To further help reduce your risk of getting HIV-1: • Know your HIV-1 status and the HIV-1 status of your partners. • Get tested for HIV-1 at least every 3 months or when your healthcare provider tells you. • Get tested for other sexually transmitted infections. Other infections make it easier for HIV-1 to infect you.

• Get information and support to help reduce risky sexual behavior. • Have fewer sex partners. • Do not miss any doses of TRUVADA. Missing doses may increase your risk of getting HIV-1 infection. • If you think you were exposed to HIV-1, tell your healthcare provider right away. u If you do become HIV-1 positive, you need more medicine than TRUVADA alone to treat HIV-1. TRUVADA by itself is not a complete treatment for HIV-1. If you have HIV-1 and take only TRUVADA, your HIV-1 may become harder to treat over time. TRUVADA can cause serious side effects: u Too much lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis), which is a serious medical emergency. Symptoms of lactic acidosis include weakness or being more tired than usual, unusual muscle pain, being short of breath or fast breathing, nausea, vomiting, stomach-area pain, cold or blue hands and feet, feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and/or fast or abnormal heartbeats. u Serious liver problems. Your liver may become large and tender, and you may develop fat in your liver. Symptoms of liver problems include your skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow, dark “tea-colored” urine, light-colored stools, loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, and/or stomach-area pain. u You may be more likely to get lactic acidosis or serious liver problems if you are female, very overweight (obese), or have been taking TRUVADA for a long time. In some cases, these serious conditions have led to death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of these conditions. u Worsening of hepatitis B (HBV) infection. If you also have HBV and take TRUVADA, your hepatitis may become worse if you stop taking TRUVADA. Do not stop taking TRUVADA without first talking to your healthcare provider. If your healthcare provider tells you to stop taking TRUVADA, they will need to watch you closely for several months to monitor your health. TRUVADA is not approved for the treatment of HBV. I Who should not take TRUVADA for PrEP? Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP if you already have HIV-1 infection or if you do not know your HIV-1 status. If you are HIV-1 positive, you need to take other medicines with TRUVADA to treat HIV-1. TRUVADA by itself is not a complete treatment for HIV-1. If you have HIV-1 and take only TRUVADA, your HIV-1 may become harder to treat over time. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP if you also take lamivudine (Epivir-HBV) or adefovir (HEPSERA).

Please see Important Facts about TRUVADA for PrEP including important warnings on the following pages.

The best chatter on Facebook this week

“It’s incredibly dangerous and unprecedented that Trump is calling the media ‘the enemy of the people,’ and it’s important for us not to be intimidated by it, and not to back off in any way. I think it’s our responsibility in the media to hold those in power accountable, and that’s what we’ll continue to do.” —Jeff Zucker, president of CNN

“Touring isn’t something I’m good at; applause makes me feel a bit vulnerable. I don’t know if I will ever tour again. The only reason I’ve toured is you… My greatest accomplishment in my career is this tour.” —Grammy-winning singer Adele, currently on a record-breaking tour, speaking to fans in Auckland, New Zealand.

“He should stop saying things that aren’t true, that are distractions from the task at hand…” —Unsuccessful 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush, speaking about President Donald Trump, in an interview with South Florida’s WFOR-CBS.

“The answer for why MSNBC’s growth has exploded is because it is the only network that doesn’t cater to Donald Trump. CNN became Trump television during the campaign, and Fox News is the de facto state-run television network of the Trump administration…” —Politics USA, in an article reporting that lesbian host Rachel Maddow now has the #1 watched show on cable news, ousting longtime ratings leader Bill O’Reilly.

“I am not just a sexual vessel waiting to be filled.”

—Porn star Kayden Gray, complaining on Twitter the degree to which his fans objectify him.

“Marijuana is here and it is popular. We can all agree that someone is going to sell it. And therefore, our industry is the answer. Who do you want selling this product? Do you want transparent, regulated, legally compliant companies that don’t allow anyone under the age of 21 into their store? Who test all their products? Who work with their regulators and work with their state, and pay their taxes? Or do you want drug cartels that don’t test their product and will sell to anyone? Someone is going to sell this. It’s a binary choice: Do you want drug dealers to sell or do you want regulated businesses?” —Neal Levine, board member of the National Cannabis Industry Association and chairman of a new group called the New Federalism Fund (NFF). Season 9

Jaymes Mansfield Sashays Away |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

W

eek two of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 9 starts out with the reveal (or RUveal) of the mysterious 14th contestant, and it is none other than the Cu-Cu bird herself, Cynthia Lee Fontaine. If you are a RuPual fan, you know that Cynthia battled cancer after she filmed her season, and is now in remission. I, for one, am so happy to see her back and in full regalia. For the main challenge this week (Cheerleading) the girls were split up into two teams: The RuPaul Glamazons and the B-52 Bombers- can you guess who the guest judges were? On the runway, the category was “White Party Realness. In the end, the winner was

32 | Hotspots.LGBT

Valentina who killed it as a cheerleader and on the runway as a Latina bride. The queens in the bottom two were: Kimora Blac and Jaymes Mansfield. In the end, Kimora killed the Lip Synch and Jaymes was sent Sashaying away.

At what age did drag become an interest and how did you pick your name? I had always been obsessed with drag since high school. The first queens I loved were Varla Jean Merman and Hedda Lettuce and I decided that's what I wanted to do. I started doing drag with puppets, but eventually decided that I wanted to be the star, and mostly work without

Without revealing anything you may know, who do you want to win? I would like to see Peppermint win because I have been a big fan of her for years. I kind of fanned out when I first saw her.

them now. I picked my drag name from the actress Jayne Mansfield and my birth name.

How many times did you apply to be on RPDR and how did it feel when you found out you got chosen? I applied five times and I got it on the fifth try, and it felt right. I was so excited I screamed on the top of my lungs and I immediately started to sew and create. Is there any additional pressure now that RuPaul has been on for eight seasons and two allstar seasons? When you are filming you don't really think about it, and I am not really the type to think about the negative. All I could think about was how positive this is for the drag community.

Out of drag I am definitely much shyer, and then in drag I turn it on.

Although it was short, tell me about your RuPaul's Drag Race experience? It's a lot like the “Wizard of Oz, “ as you are surprised there is a man behind the curtain. It's gripping, it's hard, and it's a real competition.

I felt, and the judges agreed, that you were stifled and couldn't show your true self. What caused this? I would say I couldn't quite grasp what they were saying about me. Out of drag I am definitely much shyer, and then in drag I turn it on. Are you single/married, etc.? I have been married for four years.

Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you. That I am actually good….I swear! Also, that I am a really down to earth person. What's ahead for Jaymes Mansfield? I'm going to go right back to doing what I was doing before the show, which is the YouTube world. ALL ABOUT SUSAN

Oscar-winning screen icon talks 'up for grabs' sexual orientation, portraying Bette Davis and whether she regrets not voting for Hillary

By Chris Azzopardi

M

aybe gay people are customarily compelled to thank Susan Sarandon for her longstanding advocacy, because that's how I begin my frank, anything-goes conversation with the 70-year-old multi-hyphenate. After all, no matter where you stand on Sarandon's divisive decision to vote for Green Party candidate Jill Stein in the recent presidential election, we can all agree that the Oscarwinning actress has used her massive screenicon prestige to aid in the advancement of LGBT rights. She's been a staunch supporter through the AIDS crisis and the ight for marriage equality – even in times when vocal Hollywood allies were scarce.

The next step in being a gay icon, apparently, is playing one: Starring alongside fellow acting dynamo Jessica Lange as Joan Crawford, Sarandon portrays beloved

52 | Hotspots.LGBT

Hollywood legend and “All About Eve” leading lady Bette Davis in Ryan Murphy's “Feud: Bette and Joan”. Sarandon was fresh off the set of the FX series when she dished on “Feud”, and numerous other aspects of her storied life and career.

Free from “Feud” and any cannedanswer pretense, Sarandon refreshingly freewheeled through revelatory discussions about her “up for grabs” sexual orientation, the gay actor she once romanced, and her impassioned response to critics (“to blame me is not productive”) who challenge her political convictions.

Between “Feud”, your ilm career and your LGBT activism, I'd say you have more than earned your queer cred. (Laughs) Well, I hope so! I mean, I feel like an outsider myself. My people, my

family for all these years have always been my allies and have always been very, very important to me, very dear to me through the AIDS crisis and everything. It's just a natural, very easy extended family for me.

You grew up Catholic in Jackson Heights, a neighborhood in the northwestern end of the borough of Queens in New York City. Would you say LGBT people felt like family then too? Well, not in my high school; I had 500 in my class. This was ages ago. But sure, in college, of course if you're in a theater department or in any of the arts, that's just part of the landscape, so there wasn't any delineation as I became an adult. It was just natural. And, honestly, the people who I made friends with in my early day in New York in the '70s are still my friends. I ind the guys who don't stick with you are the guys that you've had affairs with or marriages… or whatever! (Laughs) It's very rare that those guys – once you're not involved in a relationship, it's hard to maintain those ties. So, really, my friends I've had forever and ever and ever are gay men and women. Are you open regarding your sexuality? Yeah, I'm open. My sexual orientation is up for grabs, I guess you could say. (Laughs) The great thing about “Feud” is having you,

a gay icon, play a gay icon. I can't think of many things gayer than that. (Laughs) Well, I hope the appeal seems to be broader! I'm hoping we reach out across the aisles to heterosexuals also, because what I think the story is about is a really interesting examination of all kinds of things: power and roles and misogyny and aging.

What's the closest you've come to a Bette/Joan-type feud? I think I'm just a little too young to see women as my adversary. I think that changed. I really haven't experienced that. I think women just a little bit older than I am tried to align themselves with power, which were the men, and saw every woman as a threat. With my generation and slightly younger, you might be jealous that someone is getting all the good parts, but it's just a different time – you don't see them as your enemy. So, women are producing more projects, are inding things on their own. I feel very comfortable with all the women that are my competition. How do you explain the gay fascination with Bette Davis and Joan Crawford? Well, I can't speak for Joan – I can only speak for Bette. But, irst of all, being some kind of outsider – she was an intruder at the time, when she was trying to get good parts,

I think women just a little bit older than I am tried to align themselves with power, which were the men, and saw every woman as a threat. Hotspots.LGBT | 53

because she wasn't your classic Hollywood beauty. So, she started off as an outsider, and I think that she had a secret, and in the early days of being gay – and still in some places – that has to be a secret. I think she had a lot of secrets, and you sense that she was trying to do things that were not easily done as a woman and as an artist, and she was a very straight shooter. When we were working on it, our biggest challenge was trying to make it grounded in reality because they're so big. Her gestures, everything – I felt like, “Here goes another meme!” (Laughs) The question was, are we able to make this into something that people are actually moved by? It's very funny, obviously, and interesting.

Do you think audiences might come away with more empathy for Bette as we watch this? I hope so. In watching all of her interviews and TV appearances, and in reading all the books she wrote and that her daughter wrote and other people wrote, she was pretty special in her focus to ind good work that (gave her) some control over her choices at a time when you were given the protection of the studio in exchange for your freedom. Now, of course, if you do episodic TV, you're right back in the same kind of contractual bind. Films have been liberated, but not these seasonal TV shows, because you really don't know what they're going to do with you. You sign away for years at a time, which was exactly what she was ighting against. 54 | Hotspots.LGBT

Shifting to politics, some LGBT people were disappointed in your decision to cast your vote for someone other than the predicted winner, Hillary Clinton. If you would've known that Trump would be elected, and that we'd currently be experiencing such a threat to human rights, which I know are so important to you, would you have voted differently? This is the thing: To have the conversations about “woulda, shoulda, coulda” opens up everything about the primaries and all kinds of things. The important thing right now is that we stop harping on blame because blame, if you really want me to talk about this election – you know, I was not the person who brought Trump into power. The DNC has a lot of… there are already suits all over the country about how that was rigged, the primary. So, to talk about this, for me, is a waste of energy. I think right now we're about to appoint Scott Pruitt, which is the end of the EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency), and we've got this gal, (Betsy) DeVos. People have to get over what happened, take some personal responsibility for being in a bubble and not paying attention to what was going on in the country, and start applying their anger and their energy to rectifying what's going on. To see more from my conversation with Sarandon, visit HotspotsMagazine.com/HotspotsCentral.

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO

Hmmm…

WHEN YOU TRY TO LIFT A FRIEND’S SPIRITS

So William Van Arsdale, 70, of Port Orange, Florida, made some marijuana peanut butter cookies recently. He (generously?) offered a sample to his friend, Renee Holloway but failed to tell her about the added secret ingredient. His mischief came to light after Holloway became “woozy” and called the cops. Van Arsdale was arrested and charged. Thanks a lot, Renee!

NOT ACCORDING TO GRINDR... ANY DOUBLE-D BREASTED LESBIANS CARE TO COMMENT?

Televangelist John Hagee, founder of San Antonio’s Cornerstone Megachurch, whose radio and television ministries reportedly reach over 150 million households, is one sick bastard. Spreading his message of hate and intolerance from the pulpit, Hagee told Breitbart News recently lesbians were “the scourge of the earth”. He went on to say, “In his infinite wisdom, God made sure that we are able to tell them apart from the diseased so that we may protect ourselves and our children from them. That’s why most lesbians are as flat as an ironing board.” What???

Despite what you may be led to believe after reading profiles on Scruff or Grindr, the average penis size globally is actually 5.5 inches, according to a study done by Mandatory.com. The Congo region of Africa has the distinction of the average largest penis size of 7.1 inches, followed by Equador (6.9 inches), Ghana (6.8 inches) and Colombia and Venezuela (6.7 inches). Jamaica is the only Caribbean island to rank among the largest, coming in at 6.4 inches.. North Korea has the smallest, 3.9 inches. The U.S. comes in at 5.1 inches, beaten by Canada, Turkey, Ukraine and New Zealand who share a common average size of 5.5 inches.

AP ISSUES NEW “GENDER” GUIDELINES

The Associated Press (AP), the revered organization that for decades has set the rules and standards for writers and journalists, recently updated its entry for references to the word “gender.” The AP’s new entry reads: “Gender ~ Not synonymous with sex. Gender refers to a person’s social identity while sex refers to biological characteristics. Not all people fall under one of two categories for sex or gender, according to leading medical organizations, so avoid references to both, either, or opposite sexes or genders as a way to encompass all people. When needed for clarity or in certain stories about scientific studies, alternatives include men and women, boys and girls, males and females. 56 | Hotspots.LGBT

DJ DEANNE DJ Deanne is a Midwesterner who has made her home in South Florida. It was a pleasure to sit down with her before her gig at Miami Beach Gay Pride where she will spin from 6 p.m. till 10 p.m on Saturday night from the main stage.

When did you realize you wanted to be a DJ? It was in the late 90's or early 2000s when I was living in Indiana and going to college for my second degree. That's about the time I 76 | Hotspots.LGBT

[exclusive interview] by Scott Holland Photos by Dale Stine

started going to gay clubs and listening to and acquiring different music. I was working at a small gay bar in Bloomington, Indiana and started practicing on turntables. It turns out that I had a knack for it. I got a few breaks and realized that this was what I wanted to do in life. Where are you from, and what brought you to Florida? I was born in Kentucky, but I spent almost 15 years in Indiana prior to moving to South Florida. Over the years I had been playing at

Twist a couple times a year while I lived in Indiana. Every time I came to Miami something happened to me. I felt more alive and it has always felt like "home" to me. When I made the decision to concentrate only on DJ/Producing four years ago, I knew that South Florida is where I belonged. What was your first residency, and how did that feel? My first big residency was at a club in Indianapolis called Talbott Street. It was the premier gay club in the Midwest (outside of Chicago). Every gay/circuit DJ and other world renowned DJs played there. It was a big room to play in and it felt amazing commanding that dance floor. It was my home for 10 years and I "grew up" as a DJ there. What separates you from other DJs? This is a hard question. I never really try to compare myself to other DJs. But my philosophy as a DJ is to give 110 percent to every performance, to do my homework, to always give the crowd something new, and to have fun. One of my mentors once told me that the key to being a great DJ is programming and I have never forgotten that. I might overthink my set a bit sometimes, but each set is carefully crafted based on what is happening on the dance floor, at the bar, around the perimeter of the room and inside of me at any given time. There is always an upward arching progression until the energy is so intense that the room is bursting at the seams. I live for the 'hands in the air moments" and people having the time of their life :) What are some memorable moments from the DJ booth? I just had one of my favorite while playing to a packed room on the Terrace at Club Space during Winter Party Festival 2017. Every legend in the world has played there and it was pretty crazy being in that booth. Other than DJing, what do you like to do for fun? I like doing adventurous things, I love being in the sun and spending time with my friends and I love traveling and seeing new places.

DINA MARTINA Cult sensation makes her debuts in

Photos by David Belisle

Fort Lauderdale on April 11 |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

by Scott Holland The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is no stranger to drag queens and the LGBT community and next week will be no exception. After years developing a cult following around the globe, comedienne Dina Martina will make her Fort Lauderdale debut on Tuesday, April 11 in one show only at 8 p.m. Tragic singer, horrible dancer and surreal raconteur, the hysterically funny Dina Martina debuted at Seattle's Center on Contemporary Art in 1989, instantly gleaning reviews that dubbed her "magically warped," "utter genius," and "unwittingly hilarious." Since then, she's packed venues in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto and London, and shared the bill with acts ranging from Alan Cumming to Nina Hagen to Margaret Cho. Hailed as: “The most original drag performer working in America today” by Michael Musto of the Village Voice. Recently, Dina Martina's hugely successful shows in New York and Provincetown

84 | Hotspots.LGBT

have made ardent fans of the likes of John Waters ("Dina Martina goes way beyond drag into some new kind of twisted art.") and Whoopi Goldberg (“Performance art never looked so good!”) Martina has received nominations for the Alpert Award in Theater and two GLAAD Media Awards for Outstanding Off-Off Broadway Theater. She's received two Seattle Times Footlight Awards and the Stranger's 2012 Genius Award for Theater. Absolutely packed with ludicrous song, horrifying dance, overburdened costumes and sidesplitting video, Dina Martina's shows are impossible to describe - other than that they've become synonymous with jaw-dropping pathos and mindblowing comedy. It was a pleasure to sit down with Martina, just 10 days before her irst time performing a full length show in Fort Lauderdale.

What was the irst live performance you attended? Well I was very fortunate to have grown up in Las Vegas, so I pretty much had the cream of the drawer of Show Business right there at my ingertips. I wasn't born in Vegas but I was breaded there, and my mother took me to see Henny Youngman at Caesar's Palace when I was about six and I was immediately hooked when I heard his trademark "Take my veal - please / Try my wife, she's here all week" bit.

When was the irst time you performed and what was that experience like? Oh gosh, there've been so many irsts for me being in the spotlight. At 17, I was the irst person ever diagnosed with Dutch Elm disease, but I'm currently in remission. I was also the irst fashion model for the Braille edition of Vogue. But the irst time I was ever onstage was when I won the Young Miss Las Vegas Pageant when I was four, and that was a very special experience. I still have the dress I wore that night and I'm hoping to let the seams out and wear it in Ft. Lauderdale. How did you get into Show Business? After I stepped down from a year as Young Miss Las Vegas, my mother got me into doing TV commercials, mostly for baby shampoos and sugary cereals, but I was also the original Johnson's Thumbtacks Girl - yet another irst! Somebody please tell me, how do I do it?

I understand you have a daughter. What's she like? Her name is Phoebe and she really shines. I adopted her right after I put my last pet down. Children just last so much longer, you know? More bang for your buck. I wish I could bring her to Ft. Lauderdale but I already have two carry-ons. It's probably for the best though, because if I ever lost her in an airport I think I'd be sad. I'd also probably get into a lot of trouble, 'cause boy, they really don't like it when you lose the adopted ones.

Do you have any mentors/inspirations? Soupy Sales was a mentor to me. I realize a lot of your readers might be too young to know who Soupy Sales was, so for them, I'll just say he was a lot like Mort Sahl. I met Soupy when I was only six and my mother cocktailed the graveyard shift

Children just last so much longer, you know? More bang for your buck. at Caesar's. She worked from 11 p.m. – 7 a.m. and she didn't want to leave me home all alone, so she had me stand outside in front of the casino all night, selling juice and cotton balls. As for inspirations, Jonathan & Darlene Edwards are favorites, as are Mrs. Miller and Liberace. I love me some Korla Pandit and I've always been in awe of Dora Hall. Sally Struthers springs to mind. Well, she doesn't really spring to mind; she's a little slower than that. She lumbers to mind.

What should the South Florida audiences expect from your full length show? Unfortunate song stylings, pathos-laden stories, hilarious videos and tremendously overburdened costumes. So basically, a lot of iller. I used to do the Chinese splits a lot in my shows, but I don't recover from those quite well as I used to. Plus, it's hard to ind enough men to spot me.

What's ahead for Dina? Well I'm a classically-trained gymnast, so I'll be working on my dismount a lot. And I also plan on watching a fair amount of TV because I think it's really important to support the Arts. I also have a theater group that tours retirement homes, and we're currently revving up a production of Bedpans & Broomsticks.

Dina will be performing on Tuesday, April 11 at the Amaturo Theater at The Broward Center at 8 p.m. Tickets are $26.50 and can be purchased at: BrowardCenter.org Hotspots.LGBT |

Which Options for Male Enhancement Are Best for You? Part 1

When it comes to enhancing your body, options abound. But which ones deliver on promises, are safe, and do not require the complications of general anesthesia? Compared side by side, the choices for personal male enhancement stack up pretty clearly. But which ones are best for you? |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

COMPARING INJECTABLES Collagen/permanent iller. Dr. Victor Loria, D.O., specializes in increasing the girth of patients' penises, using permanent iller injections with his specialized, nonsurgical procedure. Dr. Loria has two of ices – one in Miami and one in New York City – where he performs more than 1,000 procedures annually. Permanent iller, which is placed in by injection (no general anesthesia), causes collagen to be formed. Collagen is a far superior substance than fat as a penile illing agent. When collagen forms, it permanently anchors under the penile skin and is very stable. It feels natural in laccid and erect states. Non-permanent iller. Any non-permanent iller is a very poor choice for male enhancement. When placing temporary iller, such as Restylane, Juvederm or Sculptura, it produces little collagen and will not anchor properly. This means during intercourse, the iller can be pushed to the base of the penile shaft, and it will feel malleable because it does not generate any permanent collagen. It

Dr.Loria

is never advised for a man to use cooking oils, synthetic materials or any other nonFDA-approved, non-medical substances to enlarge his penis.

Fat transfer. Fat transfer has been available for decades for male enhancement. But the drawbacks include fat transferred to the penis may die or dissolve away, so the need for multiple treatments might be necessary. If the fat does survive, it may be unbalanced, drop to the base of the penis, or form very large lumps. Additionally, fat transfer can result in a 'soft'- feeling erection.

THE BEST CHOICE Dr. Loria has been performing his specialized procedure since 2010 and has worked with cosmetic illers since 1995. With thousands of satis ied and repeat clients – to increase their girth even more – Dr. Loria is con ident of the safety, reliability and positive results of his practice. These must-do moves will help you to get a pump and burn considerable calories.

The squat is the best exercise for your lower body. Stand tall, back straight with your feet approximately two feet apart, toes pointed slightly outward. SPRING MOVIES 22

FILMS MAKING THEIR BIG SCREEN DEBUTS THIS SEASON By Ian Maloney

2017 has already been a banner year for the movies, especially from an LGBT perspective. With the big Oscar win for “Moonlight” and the debacle that surround the presentation of the award for Best Picture, as well as the release of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” and its “exclusively gay moment” this year has gotten off to a better than average year for queer movie goers. We’ve compiled a list of our favorites licks that are coming to theatres this Spring.

APRIL 7

Going in Style

A remake from the 1970’s, three bored old dudes decide to rob a bank that has “robbed” them of their life savings. The retirees decide to put their time to good use and come up with a plan to get their money back, and then some. This caper comedy is directed by Zach Braff and will have you in stitches. Featuring: Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin, Ann-Margret, Christopher Lloyd, Matt Dillon, and Joey King.

Smurfs: The Lost Village

If you are of a certain age like I am, there is no way you don’t know who the Smurfs are. This reboot of the franchise from the 80’s inds Smurfette leading her fellow Smurfs on a journey to ind other Smurf life outside of their own village. It is sure to be “Smurftacular.” From Director Kelly Asbury. Featuring: Demi Lovato, Mandy Patinkin, Jack McBrayer, Danny Pudi, Rainn Wilson, Michelle Rodriguez, Ariel Winter, Ellie Kemper.

Wonder

This drama is based on the 2012 book of the same name and is the story of a youngster with a facial deformity who just wants to be a normal kid. This is a drama that anyone who grew up feeling like an outsider will be able to relate with, and chances are, if you are reading this you’ve been the outsider before. Featuring: Jacob Tremblay, Julian Roberts, Owen Wilson, Mandy Matinkin.

Mine

This indie lick won’t open nationally but it should be a favorite come awards season next year. Mine is the story of a US soldier, Mike, whose mission goes bad and ends up stranded in a mine ield in the desert. Mike ends up struggling to survive as he is forced to stand on top of a mine for two days. Armie Hammer is a dreamboat, so this ilm piques my interest. Featuring: Armie Hammer, Anabelle Wallis, Tom Cullen, Juliet Aubrey, Geoff Bell and Clint Dyer.

APRIL 12

Gifted

Marc Webb directs an all-star cast in this drama about Frank, a man who is forced to ight to raise his niece after his sister dies. After realizing that the young girl is an exceptional genius, Frank’s mother ights for custody so that she can ship the girl off to be studied as a child prodigy. Frank would prefer a more normal life for the girl. Featuring: Chris Evans, Mckenna Grace, Lindsay Duncan, Jenny Slate, and Octavia Spencer.

APRIL 14

A Quiet Passion

This bio-pic follows the life of American Poet Emily Dickinson from her early years as a schoolgirl to her years as a famously reclusive poet. Staring out lesbian and “Sex and the City’” alum Cynthia Nixon as

adult Emily Dickinson, this is another of our features that should get some attention come awards season. Featuring: Cynthia Nixon, Jennifer Ehle, Keith Carradine, Duncan Duff, Jodhi May, and Emma Bell.

Norman:

The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer

Richard Gere stars as Norman, a “ixer” in New York City who specializes in helping businessmen and politicians “ix” sticky situations. He gets in a bit over his head and has to igure out a way to get back on his feet. Featuring: Richard Gere, Lior Ashkenazi, Hank Azaria, Steve Buscemi, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Michael Sheen, and Dan Stevens.

Sandy Wexler

Sandy Wexler is another foray into the movie biz for Netlix. This ilm, from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions stars Sandler as Sandy Wexler, a 1990s Hollywood agent with a not so A-List clientele. The story follows Wexler as he falls in love with his new discovery, a singer he inds at an amusement park. Featuring: Adam Sandler, Jennifer Hudson, Judd Apatow, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Pauly Shore, Terry Crews, Jane Seymore, Dana Carvey, and Rob Schneider.

APRIL 21

Free Fire

Dreamboat and previously mentioned Armie Hammer gets his second ilm of the season with Free Fire which casts him with Brie Larson in an action dramedy about an arms deal that goes terribly wrong in 1970s Boston. Larson is part of a gang of criminals who meet in an abandoned warehouse to make a deal that ends up in a shootout and ight for survival. Featuring: Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Enzo Cilenti, Sam Riley, Michael Smiley, and Cillian Murphy.

allows free speech. When you visit Nicaragua you cannot miss these four magical places which are full of colorful landscapes and incredible architecture. First on the list is Moyogalpa. It´s most important locality and gateway is village of the same name that is small but has a wide range of tourist facilities including hotels, restaurants, bars and other services. From there you can easily reach all hottest spots on the island, including the forests of the Charco Verde Nature Reserve, the picturesque village of Altagracia and beaches, such as Santo Domingo, which are surrounded by lush vegetation and rich in biodiversity of birds. The second place to visit is the city of Granada. One of the most fascinating

tourist places in Nicaragua, Granada is a city to enjoy by walking between beautiful colonial and neoclassical buildings, most of which are now restored and transformed into restaurants and hotels. In addition to the attractiveness of its architecture, Granada enchants with its natural surroundings, including scenarios such as Lake Cocibolca with its 360 small islands of volcanic origin and the Mombacho Volcano National Park, with lush tropical landscapes and privileged views of the city. of Leon, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In its surroundings, find the ruins of Leon Viejo or Old Leon, one of the first Spanish colonial cities of the Spanish Main. The fourth place is the imposing Volcano Masaya. This volcano is part of a national park and is classified as an active volcano with its last eruption in 2012. It is located in Masaya, a town about 20 km south of the capital of Managua. The city of Masaya is rich in cultural manifestations and artisanal traditions and has a very interesting historical center because of its number of old churches and colonial buildings, some of which are still preserved. Another great place is the old fortress of El Coyotepe located on the top of a hill, as well as the Malecon of Masaya from where you get privileged of the Volcano Masaya National Park. The main attraction of the city is its natural surroundings, among which is the National Park Masaya Volcano with its imposing volcano that is always smoking. New Health and Human Services Secretary is no good for elder LGBTs BY D’ANNE WITKOWSKI Did you know that LGBTQ people get old? If you’re a religious fundamentalist you might not since you believe that all LGBTQ people die of AIDS in their 20s because God hates them. But if you believe that LGBTQ people are,

140 | Hotspots.LGBT

well, people, and also believe in the concept of aging, then it will not surprise you that elderly LGBTQ people exist. Granted, we live in a society that, in an attempt to pathologize their sexuality, too

often portray LGBTQ people as if sex is their only governing drive. This argument was a huge part of the fight against marriage equality: same-sex couples can’t be “married” because they’re incapable of being monogamous. We see this in the anti-trans bathroom bills proposed under the guise of protecting women from sexual predators. Gay men were banned from being Boy Scout Leaders because of the fear that they would molest the boys. In other words, the idea that LGBTQ peo-ple are nothing more than walking talking sexual deviants is an idea that persists despite plenty of contrary evidence. At the same time, our society completely desexualizes the elderly. Old people do not have sex. I mean, sure, they do in Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson movies, but that’s about it. And these two competing narratives: gays have all of the sex, olds have none of the sex, renders LGBTQ seniors pretty much invisible; which is why in 2014, the Obama administration began asking questions about LGBTQ seniors on the National Survey of Older Americans Act Par-ticipants (NSOAAP), administered by the Department of Health and Human Services. NSOAAP is a “critically important national survey of older adults that helps the government decide how to spend billions of dollars on senior centers, Meals on Wheels and other essential elder services,” according to the organization Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE). Which is why SAGE and other LGBTQ advocacy groups are alarmed that all of a sudden, on new HHS Secretary Tom Price’s watch, questions related to LGBTQ seniors disappeared from the NSOAAP. LGBTQ rights advocates fear that the removal of the questions is an effort to further marginalize LGBTQ seniors, a group that has been identified as having unique challenges. “Our community fought for years to get our LGBT elders included in this survey so they get their fair share of government-funded elder services,” SAGE declares in an online petition appeal. “We won that fight, and we’re not going back.” David Stacy, head of policy for the Human Rights Campaign, told the Associated Press, “If you deny the problem exists by not having the data, it certainly makes it easier to pursue the policy you prefer without regards to reality.” In other words, it’s more of what we’ve come to expect from the Trump administration: denial and obfuscation. While this change might seem like a minor bureaucratic detail, note that when Price was a U.S. Representative (R-Georgia), he had a score of zero from the Human Rights Campaign. He called the Supreme Court’s marriage equality ruling “a sad day for marriage” and voted to enshrine discrimination in the U.S. Constitution. He called the Obama administration’s guidelines to schools to protect trans students “absurd.” So there’s little doubt that collecting information on LGBTQ seniors probably seems absurd to him, too. Besides, the Trump administration wants to cut services to seniors. It’s as if they think they can push the “fruity” ones off the cliff first and nobody will notice. Speak up. Call HHS at 1-877-696-6775 and sign the SAGE petition here: https://actionnetwork. org/letters/trump-administration-erasing-lgbt-elders.
