What is TRUVADA for PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis)?
TRUVADA is a prescription medicine that can be used for PrEP to help reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 infection when used together with safer sex practices. This use is only for adults who are at high risk of getting HIV-1 through sex. This includes HIV-negative men who have sex with men and who are at high risk of getting infected with HIV-1 through sex, and male-female sex partners when one partner has HIV-1 infection and the other does not. Ask your healthcare provider if you have questions about how to prevent getting HIV-1. Always practice safer sex and use condoms to lower the chance of sexual contact with body fluids. Never reuse or share needles or other items that have body fluids on them.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
I What is the most important information I should know about TRUVADA for PrEP? Before taking TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce your risk of getting HIV-1 infection: u You must be HIV-negative. You must get tested to make sure that you do not already have HIV-1 infection. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 unless you are confirmed to be HIV-negative. u Many HIV-1 tests can miss HIV-1 infection in a person who has recently become infected. If you have flu-like symptoms, you could have recently become infected with HIV-1. Tell your healthcare provider if you had a flu-like illness within the last month before starting TRUVADA for PrEP or at any time while taking TRUVADA for PrEP. Symptoms of new HIV-1 infection include tiredness, fever, joint or muscle aches, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, night sweats, and/or enlarged lymph nodes in the neck or groin. While taking TRUVADA for PrEP to reduce your risk of getting HIV-1 infection: u You must continue using safer sex practices. Just taking TRUVADA for PrEP may not keep you from getting HIV-1. u You must stay HIV-negative to keep taking TRUVADA for PrEP. u To further help reduce your risk of getting HIV-1: • Know your HIV-1 status and the HIV-1 status of your partners. • Get tested for HIV-1 at least every 3 months or when your healthcare provider tells you. • Get tested for other sexually transmitted infections. Other infections make it easier for HIV-1 to infect you.
• Get information and support to help reduce risky sexual behavior. • Have fewer sex partners. • Do not miss any doses of TRUVADA. Missing doses may increase your risk of getting HIV-1 infection. • If you think you were exposed to HIV-1, tell your healthcare provider right away. u If you do become HIV-1 positive, you need more medicine than TRUVADA alone to treat HIV-1. TRUVADA by itself is not a complete treatment for HIV-1. If you have HIV-1 and take only TRUVADA, your HIV-1 may become harder to treat over time. TRUVADA can cause serious side effects: u Too much lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis), which is a serious medical emergency. Symptoms of lactic acidosis include weakness or being more tired than usual, unusual muscle pain, being short of breath or fast breathing, nausea, vomiting, stomach-area pain, cold or blue hands and feet, feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and/or fast or abnormal heartbeats. u Serious liver problems. Your liver may become large and tender, and you may develop fat in your liver. Symptoms of liver problems include your skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow, dark “tea-colored” urine, light-colored stools, loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, and/or stomach-area pain. u You may be more likely to get lactic acidosis or serious liver problems if you are female, very overweight (obese), or have been taking TRUVADA for a long time. In some cases, these serious conditions have led to death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of these conditions. u Worsening of hepatitis B (HBV) infection. If you also have HBV and take TRUVADA, your hepatitis may become worse if you stop taking TRUVADA. Do not stop taking TRUVADA without first talking to your healthcare provider. If your healthcare provider tells you to stop taking TRUVADA, they will need to watch you closely for several months to monitor your health. TRUVADA is not approved for the treatment of HBV. I Who should not take TRUVADA for PrEP? Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP if you already have HIV-1 infection or if you do not know your HIV-1 status. If you are HIV-1 positive, you need to take other medicines with TRUVADA to treat HIV-1. TRUVADA by itself is not a complete treatment for HIV-1. If you have HIV-1 and take only TRUVADA, your HIV-1 may become harder to treat over time. Do not take TRUVADA for PrEP if you also take lamivudine (Epivir-HBV) or adefovir (HEPSERA).

Control your cholesterol - Reduce intake of saturated and trans fat to maintain healthy arteries
4.
Pass on the salt - Shake the salt habit and keep your blood pressure reading near the optimal 120/80

The best chatter on Facebook this week
“I’m just kind of sorry she went down that road. But she’s a good person and we’ve had 23 good years together and raised wonderful, phenomenal kids…” “Gay and proud! Thank you to my parents for being such a great support. I continue to grow as a person and have a great support group. My parents are my great support and have helped me through a lot recently. To my friends, you are always my friends and I love you too!” ——SHAWN BARBER, pole vault world champion and Canadian Olympian, who came out in this Facebook post.
“So far, nearly nothing from [President Donald Trump’s] 100-day action plan has been successfully completed. No term limits. No healthcare. Nothing in the fight against opioids/ heroin. No tax changes. Hell, no wall and certainly no Mexico paying for it. Do you still believe he’s a change agent?” ———CHRIS CAPUTO, Fort Lauderdale businessman and LGBT activist
Say
What?
—CAITLYN JENNER, responding to comments by former wife, Chris Jenner, that she was “done” with Caitlyn over comments made by the transgendered Olympian in her new book, “The Secrets of My Life.”
“Besides the fact that Adidas is a significant player in the sports industry, [the sponsorship] also brings the recognition of a global entity. Sports are sports. They don’t discriminate.” —IVAN CANO CANO, CEO of World OutGames Miami, announcing that Adidas had agreed to sponsor the major event which which see athletes from 40 countries participate in sporting events for 10 days starting May 26.
“We should never, ever tolerate human rights violations against any person for their political views, their religious beliefs, or their sexual orientation.” —Republican Florida Senator MARCO RUBIO, who is usually anti-LGBT, denouncing the torture and murder of gay men in Chechnya and asking that the Trump administration do more.
“I hate to tell Mark Green, I don’t have a disease, OK?”
—CAITLYN JENNER, responding to comments by Mark Green, an anti-LGBT lawmaker from Tennessee who is President Trump’s pick for Army Secretary. Among his recent hate speech, Green said being transgender was “a disease”.

Can you recall the first drag show you
saw? Tell us about the experience? The first drag show I saw involved the person who would change my life's trajectory and eventually become my drag mother, the amazing Damien Dee-Vine (now transsexual 50 | Hotspots.LGBT
super star Allanah Starr, who lives in Paris, France). We met in the halls of my college at New World School of the Arts before I was even out. We had the exact same birthday and as scared of myself as I was, I just knew I had to go see her perform. She did “Sweet
Transvestite” at Kremlin on South Beach, stomping in sky high Westwood heels, and I knew this was exactly where I was destined to be. Other than your drag mother, who is favorite
queen -- and why? Other than Allanah, I love different queens for different reasons. The best “drag show” time of my life was with my favorite entertainers at Voodoo. The great combo of TP Lords -- no one compares to her stage presence/and her creativity -- and Erika Norell, the glamor goddess. Both captivate on stage like nobody's business.
ueens we
Why We Love Her!
What's your favorite number to perform --
and why? I like to keep it current most of the time. As of late I've been doing Kellyanne Conway and Gaga's Super Bowl performance. However, there are some classics I love to keep in the rotation. Thanksgiving is always special. What's the best thing that has happened to
you in drag. I've been fortunate enough, or just old enough [she laughs] to have a few. Being the “champagne girl” at Gianni Versace's parties at the Legendary Warsaw Ballroom is one. I had the privilege of pouring champagne in Donatella's, Sylvester Stallone's and Elton John's glasses. I also had the pleasure of being on Deco Drive as Queen on the Scene, and of course winning National Entertainer of the Year in 1998, when you [Scott Holland] were kind enough to drive a young dragon crosscountry and bring home a crown. Spectacular memory! (Writer's Note: One of the best memories of my life!) What differentiates you from other queens?
What would you say makes you unique? My ability to find the humor in every situation. What does the future hold?
I have a “day job” now (for the first time in 24 years.) A friend saw my creative rants on Facebook and needed a writer for adult video site Helix.com, so I now write the descriptions (not the scripts, the descriptions), the spicy language you see under the scene explaining it. That's what “sells” it. They liked what I was doing and gave me 8teenboy to write for as well. I love writing and want to keep nourishing that. I also keep a journal of my crazy nights out in drag and hope to turn it into a book/memoir one day.
Daisy is one of the most creative Queens I have ever met.
She does live stand up.
She is always there to give back to the community.
As stated earlier, our trip to Louisville, Kentucky for “National Entertainer of the Year” was one of the best memories of my lifetime. We are bonded for life!

MAY IS NATIONAL
MASTURBATION MONTH TIPS FROM OUR STRAIGHT (WINK) BROTHERS AT MEN’S HEALTH
4
L
ike so many gay men, we’ve always enjoyed reading Men’s Health magazine. Written for “straight” men – you know, the ones you meet who hold eye contact a little too long as they nervously reach for their wife or girlfriend, or the others who shower just a little too long at the gym? – Men’s Health is as close to homoerotic as its “hetero” readers can tolerate without admitting that admiring the human male physique is something all men secretly enjoy. So thank you Men’s Health for keeping it real with your articles about “guy stuff” that gay men love to read. Who knew that some of the smallest nerves and blood vessels in our bodies are found in the penis, and that slamming down junk like pizza and fries every day is disastrous for your manhood as those blood vessels are “the first to get clogged up with fat and cholesterol.” Hmmm. We are grateful for the magazine’s reminder that May is National Masturbation Month and for its enlightening facts about self-pleasuring! And before you claim (as do about 40% of men) that you don’t, ahem… “choke the chicken” or “go on a date with Fisty Palmer” on a regular basis, it turns out doing so is actually very, very healthy!
68 | Hotspots.LGBT
4YOU CAN’T BEAT THAT
Citing a recent study from Harvard, Men’s Health reports that men who ejaculated 21 or more times a month (that’s at least five times a week) have a 19 to 22 percent lower risk of prostate cancer than men who ejaculate less.
DO IT, BEES DO IT 4BIRDS Men masturbate more than women but not as much as
animals. Many animals, such as walruses (this is true!), give themselves oral sex, while other animals like moose get off by rubbing their antlers against trees while porcupines prefer sticks. Squirrels masturbate until they ejaculate – then they consume the ejaculate!
4SO EASY TO FORGET
Happy men “forget” the last time they masturbated and typically underestimate how often they “free themselves”.
4STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART
See your doctor if you go limp while enjoying some private time. It turns out there is a connection between erectile dysfunction and cardiovascular issues.
4WHEN YOU’RE ALL ALONE
16.6 percent of men reported using a vibrator alone while masturbating. 4 For more tips, head over (no pun intended!) to MensHealth.com.

The crew member does not deal with cash but instead can use a hand held device for payment . Service is efficient but simply less personal than many years ago. Additionally, the typical airline employee does not have the autonomy and situational ownership to make operational changes to address service issues with any measurable change. In most cases a supervisor or above must sign off on any unusual passenger circumstance. Some airlines are better at addressing the needs of passengers in a direct manner than others.
Q: Does the traveling public have a sufficient understanding of the airline industry’s operational components – as well as their own rights? A: The direct answer is NO. How often do any of us read the small print? Safety is the single most important objective in the airline industry. In an effort to have the highest safety standards, airlines must adhere to federal regulations and their own internal safety and service standards impacting the cus-

tomer experience. Each airline has their own policies independent of another. And therefore, the average consumer lacks the insight or detail to track policies that may negatively impact them. Few of us have a clear understanding of the layers of operational processes involved in airline transportation or specific airline policies.
Q: It’s been a long time since we’ve seen airlines promoting themselves domestically via advertising campaigns. Are the airlines doing a good job in their branding and marketing? A: Yes and no. Airlines promote their brand internally and with effective customer training processes disseminate the brand throughout the organization. The risk is that the brand becomes diluted or is not well understood by the airline’s own employees thus negatively impacting consumer perception. Airlines have done well in promoting their premium products so it truly depends on the target market. We often see advertising campaigns directed toward the international or transcontinental first-class experience. The visuals are almost ethereal and that is not reality. Understanding the cost of these or even the economy based experience is elusive.
4
Q: What advice would you give to those just starting or considering careers as flight attendants? A: For those interested in or just starting out as a flight attendant, remember you are a safety professional first, followed by brand ambassador and customer service expert. Passengers rely on flight attendants for multiple reasons and therefore you should feel comfortable wearing many hats! Also, with heightened consumer awareness and general public perception of the airline industry, I recommend the following with your interactions: be a good listener, acknowledge your understanding, respond with empathy and make a concerted effort to effectively resolve any challenge. The airline industry is exciting and offers incredible adventure and flexibility. Be proud to be part of a unique service industry!

da, Lugo, Málaga, Murcia, , Orense, Palencia, Pontevedra, Salamanca, Segovia, Sevilla, Soria, Tarragona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Teruel, Toledo, Valencia ,Valladolid, Vizcaya, Zamora y Zaragoza.

Spain, world-known as “La Madre Patria” (the mother country), is divided into 50 provinces, including its capital city Madrid, and they are: Álava, Albacete, Alicante, Almería, Asturias, Ávila,

Its population is over 46 million inhabitants and its economy is among the strongest in the world and the European continent thanks to the hard work of its inhabitants, who are very warm and unique in the acceptance of other nationalities, and especially the LGBT community that has achieved many rights, the most important being the legalization
of same-sex marriage. In 2004, the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party, led by José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, presented himself to the general elections with a program that included a commitment to enable same-sex marriage and the exercise of all rights. Gay marriage was legalized in Spain since July 3, 2005. One of the three most important places to visit in Spain is the impressive Royal Palace of Madrid, the official residence of the King of Spain although it is only used for state ceremonies. The Royal Palace was built between 1738 and 1755, and King Charles III lived in this palace in 1764. The Palace is partially open to the public, except when used for official affairs. The current King, Philip IV and Queen Letizia, together with their daughters-Infants
Leonor and Sofia-live in the same house formerly known as the “Prince’s Pavilion,” which is located inside the Zarzuela Palace in the Outskirts of Madrid. King Juan Carlos de Borbón and Sofia of Greece also reside in the Zarzuela Palace. The second place I want to comment on is called “Las Ramblas.” Located in a street in the central area of Barcelona, Las Ramblas has one of the world’s most popular pedestrian-only markets and offers shops, cafés and outdoor restaurants. You can literally find anything in this street market. You can spend all day walking and looking for hidden treasures and trying the good cuisine that Spain offers. It’s a really interesting place to visit. The third and last but not least place is “La Concha,” one of the most beautiful
Gay Pride Madrid 2016

and the most-chosen vacation island. It is said that La Concha in San Sebastián is one of the best beach towns in Europe. Here you can surf, walk along the promenade in search of good restaurants and enjoy the beautiful beac views. La Concha promises to be a place to have an unforgettable vacation! Spain, La Madre Patria, is known worldwide for its gastronomy. Among its most famous dishes and immolated by other countries is the rich Paella, and we can not fail to mention the queen of traditional food: the “potato omelet.” It is said that the first known document that accurately refers to the potato tortilla comes from 1817, and its origin is located in Navarre, north of Spain. However, much earlier, the Indian chronicles document that around 1519 the egg omelet was already known in America and in Europe. Be that as it may, the truth is that it is currently one of the dishes that all Spaniards carry in their genes and can be tasted in any of the cities of the country, from Seville to Barcelona or La Coruña. Spain is one of those countries where the pleasure of visiting it is not only based on tourism but also on gastronomy, as it has several typical drinks and meals that are ideal to enjoy. Some of the best Spanish wines are unforgettable but the sangria, a mixture of fruit and wine, is the best known of the typical Spanish drinks. Cheers! Hotspots.LGBT | 107

ALEX JONES BY D’ANNE WITKOWSKI
If you don’t know who Alex Jones is, consider yourself lucky. Picture a mentally unstable person boiling over in rage and ranting about conspiracy theories on a street corner. That’s Alex Jones, except instead of a street corner, he has his own radio program and video show on the internets.
110 | Hotspots.LGBT
Jones is a terrible person. He’s delusional, hateful, and says things that anyone with any sense knows are crazy and have no basis in reality. Oh, and Donald Trump loves him. Who says opposites attract? Jones has a long history of anti-LGBTQ animosity. He’s ranted that the Pulse nightclub
murders in Orlando were a government conspiracy and that the gay community brought on themselves and/or was in on it. He recently called Congressman Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California who has been investigating Trump’s ties to Russia, “an archetypal cocksucker” and “a fairy” who is “sucking globalist dick.” In 2015 he said that letting children read “Heather Has Two Mommies” or being respectful of whether a child identifies as a girl or a boy “space-cult, suicide-cult, exterminism, craziness.” The ultimate plan, Jones said, “Is an asexual humanoid.” He promoted the story that Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel were gay lovers and that Michelle Obama is transgender. “I think it’s all an arranged marriage,” he said in 2016. “It’s all completely fake and it’s this big sick joke because [Obama is] obsessed with transgender, just like some weird cult or something. I think Michelle Obama is a man. I really do. I really do. I believe it.” Oh, he also believes that Michelle Obama murdered Joan Rivers. He’s called Lady Gaga a “goddess of Satan” and claimed that Beyonce, with the CIA’s help, wanted to eat children’s brains. Did I mention Trump likes this guy? Anyway, Jones is currently involved in a custody battle with his ex-wife for their three children, ages 14, 12, and 9. According to his exwife, Jones broadcasts his show from the home where he lives with the children and she thinks being exposed to this radical extremist rhetoric is bad for the kids. “He’s not a stable person,” she reportedly told the court according to NBC News. “He says he wants to break Alec Baldwin’s neck. He wants J-Lo to get raped.” But hey, at least he’s not reading “Heather Has Two Mommies” to them. Now that the custody of his kids hangs in the balance, Jones, who has basically been a tin foil
hat salesman and model for years, has changed his tune. He is, according to his lawyer, a “performance artist” who takes “powerful and aggressive and strong and takes strident positions on controversial issues.” In other words, he’s like an interpretive dancer, if said dancer used hate speech and lies instead of, say, dance moves.
On April 15, a clip posted to the Internet of Jones saying that what he did was “satire” and that he wasn’t being literal. “Yeah, I dress up as the Joker and act all crazy and say crazy stuff. That’s called satire,” he said, adding, “I believe everything I’m basically saying.” The reference to the Joker was an attempt at humor, something Jones is not good at. He is also terrible at satire but very good at believing and spewing complete bullshit. With credentials like that, he could very well become President, or at least get a position in the Trump administration. D’Anne Witkowski is a poet, writer and comedian living in Michigan with her wife and son. She has been writing about LGBT politics for over a decade. Follow her on Twitter @MamaDWitkowski.

4CHEATING ANTI-GAY GOVERNOR RESIGNS More proof of the hellish fury of a woman scorned: When Dianne Bentley suspected her then-husband was having an affair, she started gathering the evidence which recently led to his impeachment and resignation as the governor of Alabama. It turns out that holier-thanthou, anti-gay Republican Governor Robert Bentley was having an extra-marital affair (despite his proclamations of Christian family values), the evidence of which Dianne collected and presented to the legislature. The governor misused public funds, threatened staff and made other transgressions in his futile attempt to hide the affair. Hypocrite.

NEED WOOD
GOOD GIRLS DON’T ON THE
FIRST FLIGHT! By Woody Miller
H
ey Woody! I keep meeting these guys that sexually tease me and then at the last minute they play Sister Mary Magdalene and claim they’re “just not that kind of girl.” Last month I met some light attendant on the way home from a business trip and he agreed to spend the next weekend with me. We had a great dinner and then things got hot and heavy at my place. We’re kissing, scratching tonsils with our tongues and our hands are all over each other. I make my move and I guess he gets insulted that I tried to board him without the proper ticketing or something. He was like, “I don’t have sex on the irst date.” I was like, “nobody spends the weekend with a stranger they picked up on a plane without wanting sex, you f--king Air Mattress.” And with that I hauled off and smacked him to the ground. I would have f--ked him right then and there but luckily I came to my senses and just threw him out of the apartment. So I have two questions: First, why are all these guys such prick-teases? Second, how do I keep my anger about this in check? There’s something about a guy refusing to have sex after a heavy makeout session that makes me go berserk. --- Mad as Hell
Dear Mad: Why are all these guys such prick-teases? Because they’re going out with such a prick. If I were the Sky Witch I would’ve opened the emergency door at thirty thousand feet
and pushed you off. And if that didn’t work I would have jumped out myself. Clearly, you’re doing something wrong if you can’t get a light attendant to f--k you. I mean, one kiss and it’s heels-to-Jesus with those guys. The reason guys leave you boiling at the bedpost is because you have an odor of entitlement that stinks up the place. Nobody owes you sex even if they’ve kissed you or fondled your wallet at dinner. Here’s why I think you’re doing it: You’re a spoiled little s--t who’s been catered to all his life. You’re not used to people saying no to you because you’ve always gotten what you’ve always wanted. Like a two-year-old, the word “no” ENRAGES you. Make no mistake about it; you have a serious problem. You need a therapist to igure out why sex is the only thing that validates you with other guys. Their company, their kisses, their attention don’t seem to mean s--t to you. Only their willingness to have sex satisies you. If you’re not willing to get therapy then I have two options for you: 1) Wear a red neon sign over your head that blinks “Put Out or Get Out” whenever you go on a date so your victims at least know what they’re in for. 2) Make an attempt to change yourself. Ask yourself why you’re so angry. Learn a little empathy. How would you feel if you changed your mind about somebody and they tried to force you to have sex? As a formative exercise, ask guys out and YOU be the one to decline sex. Learn to enjoy a man’s company whether he puts out or not. 3) Get better at getting booty. The difference between rape and seduction is salesmanship. With your sales technique you couldn’t sell water to the rich and thirsty.
