ost sports fans have heard of Michael Sam. In 2014, the University of Missouri defensive end became the irst openly gay Division I football player. Except he wasn't. A decade before, Eric Lueshen was out to his University of Nebraska teammates. (No disrespect to Mizzou, but the Cornhuskers are one of college football's truly legendary programs.) Lueshen's experience was largely positive – and almost entirely media-free. Now he's happy to talk to the press. But the story he tells is not all about him. Lueshen wants to discuss his passion: making sports safe for everyone. The organization he co-founded – LGBT SportSafe – is an important addition to the athletic world. Yet to understand it, you irst must know where it came from. Lueshen calls Pierce, Nebraska – his hometown – “a tiny, conservative farm community.” He had several identities: nerd,

band geek, jock (football, track, basketball, baseball and soccer). And gay. (“I was pegged that way even before I knew what gay was,” he says.) He came out in 11th grade. His relationship with his father was “tumultuous,” though today they are close. Lueshen overcame small-town homophobia, and was recruited as a kicker by Nebraska. Entering college, he says, “I wasn't going to jump back in the closet. But I'm not the type of person to parade with rainbows either.” However, after his very irst team meeting as a freshman, a dozen players made anti-gay comments. Lueshen realized “this might be harder than I ever imagined.” He knew that his sexuality was only a small part of his identify. He was proud of his strong values, and igured they would allow him to be authentic. Fortunately, he lived on a loor with several popular freshman players. When they asked two months later if he was gay– and the word soon spread – their easy

acceptance helped pave the way for most teammates to do the same. That other homophobic group persisted, though. A physical confrontation between the 195-pound kicker and a 350-pound lineman left Lueshen shaken. That was then. A year later, at a house party, the “biggest homophobe” welcomed him with a smile (and a bottle of Crown Royal). Lueshen was wary, but the teammate told him, “At irst I didn't know how to be around you. But you're cool, you're funny and you're fun.” Then he said that if Lueshen ever had a problem, “these guys” – a group of enormous football players – would take care of it. Lueshen's career was checkered. A torn hamstring cost him a starting spot. In 2006, back surgery ended his playing days forever. Losing football was tough. He withdrew from teammates. Lueshen poured his energy into a Ph.D. program for biomedical engineering. Helping people, he realized, was his calling. Three months before earning his doctorate, Michael Sam came out. As a consensus All-American, this was Big News. Lueshen was one of thousands to post congratulations on Facebook. He added a few lines about his own experiences at Nebraska. Suddenly, the media wanted to hear his story too. Hours after appearing on a Lincoln sports radio talk show, Lueshen told his Ph.D. supervisor that he would postpone graduation by a year. “All this is happening for a reason,” Lueshen felt. “I have to honor this.” He gave speeches and interviews. He advised athletic departments on diversity and inclusion. He served as grand marshal of Nebraska Pride. Along the way, he was mentored by LGBT sports pioneers like Pat Grif in and Helen Carroll. Then, at a Nike LGBT Sports Summit in Portland, he met Nevin Caple. The former football player and the LGBT sports diversity consultant clicked professionally. Two years ago, Caple called Lueshen. Would he be interested in working on a program to help create safe sports environments for everyone, regardless of

sexuality or gender expression? The founders stayed true to their athletic roots, forming a “3-Peat Model.” The three “P”s were Policy (helping ensure that all members of an athletic community are valued and respected); Programming (LGBT inclusion training for athletic administrators, coaches and recreational sports leaders), and Public Awareness (about LGBT experiences). LGBT SportSafe launched last year. The America East conference was the irst organization to jump on board. A major event was a presentation at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics in Dallas. Dozens of universities followed up, asking how they could be part of LGBT SportSafe. One way is by earning a medallion from the organization. LGBT SportSafe awards gold, silver and bronze designations, depending on how well an athletic department performs based on inclusion criteria. It's a great way to tap into the competitive juices of ADs and coaches. No one knows competition better than Eric Lueshen. After all, he beat Michael Sam out of the closet by a full decade. (For more information, go to LGBTSportSafe.com) Dan Woog is a journalist, educator, soccer coach and gay activist. His latest book is “We Kick Balls: True Stories from the Youth Soccer Wars.” He can be reached care of this publication or at OutField@qsyndicate.com.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF TRUVADA FOR PrEP TRUVADA can cause serious side effects, including: • Those in the “Most Important Information About TRUVADA for PrEP" section. • New or worse kidney problems, including kidney failure. • Too much lactic acid in your blood (lactic acidosis), which is a serious but rare medical emergency that can lead to death. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you get these symptoms: weakness or being more tired than usual, unusual muscle pain, being short of breath or fast breathing, stomach pain with nausea and vomiting, cold or blue hands and feet, feel dizzy or lightheaded, or a fast or abnormal heartbeat.

• Severe liver problems, which in rare cases can lead to death. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you get these symptoms: skin or the white part of your eyes turns yellow, dark “tea-colored” urine, light-colored stools, loss of appetite for several days or longer, nausea, or stomach-area pain. • Bone problems. Common side effects in people taking TRUVADA for PrEP include stomach-area (abdomen) pain, headache, and decreased weight. These are not all the possible side effects of TRUVADA. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have any new symptoms while taking TRUVADA for PrEP. Your healthcare provider will need to do tests to monitor your health before and during treatment with TRUVADA for PrEP.

BEFORE TAKING TRUVADA FOR PrEP Tell your healthcare provider if you: • Have or have had any kidney, bone, or liver problems, including hepatitis. • Have any other medical conditions. • Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. • Are breastfeeding (nursing) or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed. If you become HIV-positive, HIV can pass to the baby in breast milk.

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take: • Keep a list that includes all prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements, and show it to your healthcare provider and pharmacist. • Ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist about medicines that should not be taken with TRUVADA for PrEP.

HOW TO FURTHER REDUCE YOUR RISK • Know your HIV status and the HIV status of your partners. • Get tested for other sexually transmitted infections. Other infections make it easier for HIV to infect you.

• Get information and support to help reduce risky sexual behavior, such as having fewer sex partners. • Do not share needles or personal items that can have blood or body fluids on them.

GET MORE INFORMATION • This is only a brief summary of important information about TRUVADA for PrEP. Talk to your healthcare provider or pharmacist to learn more, including how to prevent HIV infection.

• Go to start.truvada.com or call 1-800-GILEAD-5 • If you need help paying for your medicine, visit start.truvada.com for program information.

TRUMP’S BAN ON TRANSGENDER TROOPS

“Currently, there are over 15,000 openly transgender people proudly serving in our military. This morning, those 15,000 patriotic transgender people woke up to learn that their Commander-in-Chief called them a “burden” and a “disruption” via a string of tweets. Countless trans people have bravely fought and died for our country, while Trump received five deferments from the Vietnam war draft. The contrast could not be more striking.” GINA LEIGH DUNCAN, Director of Transgender Equality, Equality Florida

“Donald Trump has… put a target on the backs of 15,000 transgender troops proudly serving in our military. This heinous and disgusting action endangers the lives of American service members, undermines military readiness and makes our country less safe. It is also the latest effort by Trump and Mike Pence to undo our progress and drag LGBTQ people back into the closet by using our lives as political pawns.”

CHAD GRIFFIN, president, Human Rights Campaign >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

“To our 15,000 transgender brothers and sisters currently serving in the military and to those who had aspirations to serve and protect us and our country… as former military, I stand with you, I support you, and you matter!! Keep the faith; you have many people fighting for you, as you have dedicated yourselves to fight for us.” <<<<<< TERRY DeCARLO, GLBT Community Center of Central Florida

“The previous administration ended an 18-year ban on gays and lesbians serving openly in the military, and ensured same-sex partner benefits and workplace protections to LGBT federal contractors throughout the service branches – citing moral and economic imperatives for doing so. The Trump administration must realize what damage blocking transgender service members will do for our military readiness and economic health.” CHANCE MITCHELL and JUSTIN NELSON, president and CEO, respectively, of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, in a statement. >>>

“Transgender people show more courage when they leave their f---ing houses in the morning than Donald Trump has shown his entire life…” MATT BELLASSAI, social media commentator 36 | Hotspots.LGBT

IT'S HOME IMPROVEMENT SEASON! ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

S

ummer is in full swing and so is home improvement season. Many homeowners are planning small and large renovations, ranging from home additions, to bathroom, kitchen renovations and more. But, beware, not every contractor is on the up and up and if you're not careful, you may ind yourself falling victim to a home improvement scam. The contractor drove off with a truckload of concrete and a pocket full of cash and you were left with a shoddy driveway. This is a typical scenario of a home improvement scam. Without knowing what to look for, a conning contractor can take advantage of your home improvement aspirations. Here are four giveaways that a home contractor might be scamming you and how to protect yourself. Scam 1: “I have extra materials.” A contractor knocks on your door and

46 | Hotspots.LGBT

By Justin Lavelle

claims to have extra materials from a job he just completed down the street. Not wanting to take a loss on the supplies, he offers to pave your driveway or patch your roof for a smoking-good deal. As tempting as a good deal is, don't be fooled. The con artist “contractor” will start working and then claim to ind an issue that makes him raise the price of the job. Then if you object, the contractor might walk away, leaving you with a half- inished driveway. Or he or she may also take your money and run. Another way this situation could go: He paints your driveway with black paint instead of paving it with asphalt. Then you watch it wash away the next time it rains and cry. How to protect yourself: Never hire a contractor on the spot. Read reviews and

make sure they do quality work before making any deals.

Scam 2: “I have a special offer today.” This home improvement scam usually starts from a newspaper ad or mailer that advertises a home service for a ridiculously low price. After you call and request services, they'll quote you for a slew of “problems” your house has. Worried that they need to get these ixes done, unsuspecting homeowners empty their pockets and the contractor leaves without inishing or doing any work at all. How to protect yourself: Con irm that the contractor's business is legal, licensed and registered. Request to see a business license and proof of insurance. Scam 3: “I'll need the money upfront…” A conning contractor will tell you that he'll need a percentage of the project cost upfront. He might tell you the reason is because he needs to order materials or rent supplies. But once you pay him, he'll disappear. Or he'll do a poor job, thinking you can't ire him because you've already paid him hundreds, or thousands. How to protect yourself: Down payments are a standard practice, but should never be unreasonable. Check the rules in your state regarding down payment limits. Some states limit down payments to 10 percent of the project price or $1,000, whichever is less.

Also, before hiring any one contractor, get at least three different estimates. Scam 4: “Take my word for it” While talking with your contractor about the repairs you'd like made, you add in a couple ideas. He gets excited about the ideas and even makes his own suggestions. You don't put these ideas into your contact agreement because you think you had such a clear verbal understanding. Then you're surprised when the contractor says those upgrades weren't included in the price – and that you'll have to fork up more money for them. How to protect yourself: Always get everything in writing. A legal contract is your safety net, should any issues arise. Be sure to review every detail before signing. If you are not comfortable, ask an attorney to review it before you sign. It's a worthwhile investment to avoid problems on the back end. Home improvement projects can be overwhelming. Throw in a con man and overwhelming becomes an understatement. Take the right steps in hiring a contractor and help ensure that your home improvement project goes smoothly!

Always get everything in writing. A legal contract is your safety net, should any issues arise.”

PEPPERMINT |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

by Scott Holland

P

eppermint's stage presence was obvious and undeniable from the first time she had to lip sync for her life. Here is a girl who was made to be on the stage as you can't stop looking at her. What we didn't know was that Peppermint had already started transitioning and that her time on Drag Race would not only be entertaining, but informative to the world. In addition to being great on stage, Peppermint is incredibly intelligent and a pleasure to interview.

Q: At what age did drag become an interest and how did you pick your name? A: Drag became an interest when I was 5 or 6 years old. The first time I ever crossdressed‌ that was the year my grandmother dressed me up as Boy George for Halloween, although I think I started it in my mind way before that. I saw myself as a woman at an early age. The first time I did drag I was 16 years old and I won the competition I entered. I was hooked after that! I had a few drag names prior to settling on Peppermint. The truth is I was with a crush and he knew Peppermint was my favorite candy and suggested I name myself that, and I did.

Q: How many times did you apply to be on RuPaul's Drag Race? How did it feel when you found out you got chosen? A: I applied three times, and the third time was the charm. It felt fantastic. I was so excited when I got the call, and then I was instantly very fearful.

Q: Tell us about your RuPaul's Drag Race experience‌ A: It was exciting. There were moments I felt very confident and there were moments I was scared I was going to get kicked right off the show. I had a great time getting to know all the girls on the show. It was very sad as people were being sent home. As it was getting closer to the end I started getting very excited. I never thought I would make it that far. Working with RuPaul was fantastic! She is insightful, sassy and sometimes inappropriate, which is great. She is surprisingly easy to connect with for a television star.

Q: How hard was it to hide the fact that you were already transitioning? A: Everyone's gender expression is their own choice. I didn't want to feel that I belonged to the world and I wanted to make the choice that was best for me. I came out to the girls once I felt comfortable. I didn't want to be the trans girl on the drag show. I wasn't hiding it, I just didn't mention it. I think the producers knew I was trans, as I had been on TV (on the Daily Show) talking about being trans.

wanted to do a quick change reveal. I wanted to go from a shorter outfit to a full length outfit, and I loved the way it came out especially considering I was only able to rehearse it one time since I didn't get the outfit until I got there. Q: Tell us something people would be surprised to know about you. A: I am a tech nerd. I can take apart and put back together a computer with the best of them.

Q: Before and after the taping of the finale, what was your thought process of you winning? A: My thoughts before the finale was I had no chance, as I didn't perform as well in many of the challenges as the others did. But after the finale, I thought that maybe I had a chance. Well, I knew I had a 50/50 shot! Q: If you couldn't win, who would you have wanted to win from the top 4 and why? A: I would have wanted it to be Sasha all the way, because she and I were very close and we really have a lot of the same ideals. Q: Who came up with the idea of the longer dress and hair change for the finale? A: I came up with it as I knew I

Q: What's ahead for Peppermint? A: I am working on a documentary called “Project Peppermint.” They have been following me for two years, even before Drag Race. I am working on music with Sasha, Alexis and AJA. In addition, Sasha and I are going on a college speaking tour.

For more information on Peppermint, go to her website at peppermintonline.com or visit her on social media at: Facebook.com/Miss Peppermint or Instagram.com/Peppermint247 You can download her new album “Black Pepper” on itunes.

HOT BODIES

A WORKOUT with

BALLS! 82 | Hotspots.LGBT

By Tom Bonanti

Looking for a way to add some bounce to your routine in the gym? Try adding a Swiss Ball to turn easy exercises into more challenging maneuvers. Balancing on a ball as you crunch, press, curl, etc., helps bring more muscle groups into play and forces you to concentrate on maintaining proper form and balance. And there’s no way better to work those core muscles like the abs, obliques, and quadratus lumborum, etc. Performing resistance exercises on a ball is a more effective way to train for sports, i.e. track and

ball then crunch as you move the ball simultaneously by bringing your knees up toward your elbows. Don’t forget your obliques or your “side abs”. Lie on your right side over the ball, left leg over right, hands by the sides of the head, elbows out. Proceed to bend upward as high as possible. Pause, return to starting position. Perform 8-12 reps. Lie on your left side for another set bending up the other way. Swiss ball squats are a great safe way to build up butt and legs without chugging a loaded barbell across the back of your neck and shoulders. Stand with the ball between your lower back and the wall. Squat slowly down until the backs of the thighs are parallel to the floor. Pause. Then return to starting position. Perform 8-12 reps. Make push-ups more effective by using the ball. Place your hands on top of the ball with arms bent at a 90 degree angle, legs out behind you and extending up on toes. Proceed to push up to arms’ length. Pause. Then return to starting position. Perform 8-12 reps. To make dumbbell curls, shoulder and chest presses, front and side raises more challenging, try them seated on a ball. Use lighter weights at first. Use your Swiss Ball on a mat area for added safety. Swiss Balls come in sizes small, medium and large and can be purchased at any sporting goods store. They usually come with a pump to keep them firm and bouncy! field, martial arts, etc., since in any kind of competition you are in motion and often off balance. Here’s a routine that’ll put some “balls” in your workouts – Swiss Balls, that is! There’s no better way to train abs than by doing crunches on a ball. Lie on your back across the ball with legs bent, feet flat and hands behind your head. Proceed by raising head and shoulders up a few inches. Pause, squeeze your abs and return to starting position. To add resistance, clasp a dumbbell or weight plate to your chest as you crunch. Perform as many reps as it takes to get a burn. Try reverse crunches by laying flat on the mat with your heels on the

ATTORNEY GENERAL

JEFF SESSIONS

A man who can’t be trusted to uphold civil rights laws BY D’ANNE WITKOWSKI

W

hen the country’s chief law enforcement officer meets with a group that toils daily to hurt LGBTQ people, that’s deeply troubling. But when he goes out of his way to praise said antiLGBTQ group, LGBTQ people have a good reason to be worried. Not that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has every inspired confidence in anyone who cares about civil rights. Sessions has a long history of being a racist and, lo and behold, he doesn’t like LGBTQ people. Funny how those things tend to go together. On July 11, Sessions spoke at the Alliance Defending Freedom’s Summit on Religious Liberty. Now, that sounds nice. Who on earth could be against joining together to defend freedom? And wasn’t this country founded on religious liberty? Alas, ADF’s definition of freedom is limited mainly to white heterosexual Christians. Ditto to religious freedom, especially if

that religious freedom is being used to deny a couple of homos a wedding cake or something. Oh, and wouldn’t you know it, ADF is currently representing a baker who refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding. A case on its way to the Supreme Court. No press was allowed, but Sessions’s prepared remarks were published online by The Federalist. After quoting Washington, Jefferson, and Martin Luther King Jr. (to prove he’s not racist), Sessions lamented how hard it is to be Christian in America. “The cultural climate has become less hospitable to people of faith and to religious belief,” Sessions said. “And in recent years, many Americans have felt that their freedom to practice their faith has been under attack.” Yes. This checks out. If you are Muslim, that is (or another religion practiced predominantly by people who aren’t white and is thus swept up in anti-Muslim

hysteria). Anyone who says it’s hard being Christian in America doesn’t know what “hard” means and likely doesn’t know what “Christian” means, either. Sessions continued, “The challenges our nation faces today concerning our historic First Amendment right to the ‘free exercise’ of our faith have become acute.” Again, no. The only thing acute here is the Christianity Persecution Complex on display. Sessions did say something I agree with. He spoke of the government having a role “to provide the great secular structure” that is supposed to protect everybody’s rights. He then undermines this very concept: “This Department of Justice will never allow this secular government of ours to demand that sincere religious beliefs be abandoned. We will not require American citizens to give intellectual assent to doctrines that

are contrary to their religious beliefs. And they must be allowed to exercise those beliefs as the First Amendment guarantees.” Now, of course the DOJ shouldn’t restrict religious belief. But Sessions is clearly of the mind that by enforcing, say, anti-discrimination laws that are designed to protect LGBTQ people is tantamount to quashing the free speech of anti-LGBTQ people. Keep in mind that “religious freedom” has been used to defend things like slavery and segregation. Sessions goes on to say, “Under this administration, religious Americans will be treated neither as an afterthought nor as a problem to be managed.” Says the guy who supports a ban on Muslims. Sessions has proved time and time again that he cannot be trusted to enforce this country’s civil rights laws. He has the right under the first amendment to say otherwise, but Americans have the freedom, for now at least, to call him a liar. White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci: ‘I’m not trying to suck my own c*ck...’

Photo: RollingStone.com

After dirty talk, we learn Scaramucci follows gay porn star New White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, in an interview with The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza last week, used a string of profanities to describe the now former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, saying that unlike Bannon, “I’m not trying to suck my own c*ck.” Interesting choice of words… then we learned Mr. Scaramucci has a thing for porn and follows porn stars on Twitter including at least one gay porn star, Blake Mitchell.

There is now speculation that Scaramucci, who supported LGBT rights in the past, may be a closet homosexual. If you have been keeping up, Scaramucci’s wife filed for divorce when she was nine months’ pregnant and gave birth to the couple’s second child, a son, last week. Scaramucci was at the Boy Scout Jamboree with President Donald Trump when his son was delivered but later sent his wife a text message: “Congratulations. I’ll pray for our child.”

2 THE BEST BOYFRIENDS, ACCORDING TO THE ZODIAC The web site ThoughtCatalog.com has ranked boyfriends best to worst based on their zodiac. In the top three: Scorpio, Gemini and Libra. Here’s the breakdown: Scorpio: “…the most loyal of all signs and makes the best boyfriend.” Gemini: “As a boyfriend, they will motivate you to achieve more and do better than you ever thought possible.” Libra: “ They don’t look at what 98 | Hotspots.LGBT

you can do for them, they just give and give until they have nothing let to.” Aries: “Once you have their heart they fold to any and everything you say.” Cancer: “Cancer men have a heart of gold and wear their heart and their sleeve.” Leo: “…hopeless romantics.” Aquarius: “…the strangest but funniest of all the signs.”

Sagittarius: “Sag men have a tough time with relationships…” Capricorn: “…their perfect significant other is someone they can boss around.” Virgo: “…the most jealous of all signs and have the worst temper when they get mad.” Taurus: “Relationships have never been their priority.” Pieces: “painfully guarded and tend to choose the wrong people.”

Florida is the big winner among best retirement cities for gay men BEST RETIREMENT CITIES FOR GAY MEN BIG CITIES 1. Atlanta, Ga. 2. Phoenix, Ariz. 3. Tampa MEDIUM CITIES 1. Fort Lauderdale 2. Orlando 3. St. Petersburg SMALL CITIES 1. Wilton Manors 2. Rehoboth Beach, DE 3. Oakland Park

What food turns you on? Our colleagues at Buzzfeed asked their millions of viewers to share the uncommon and surprising things that turn them on. Among the responses: 1. Eating apricots 2. Burgers 3. Cookie dough 4. Spicy foods 5. Cinnamon rolls 6. Drinks filled with whole ice cubes 7. Ketchup 8. Desserts

Three Florida cities appear at the top of the list for Best Mid-sized Retirement Cities for gay men, according to a study reported by the Huffington Post. Fort Lauderdale, which has about 3% same-sex households, tops the list, followed by Orlando and St. Petersburg, each with 1.4 percent same-sex households. In the category of Best Small Retirement Cities for gay men, the winners were Wilton Manors (12.5% same-sex households), Rehoboth Beach, DE (almost 10% same-sex households), followed by two more South Florida cities, Oakland Park and Miami Shores (5% and 4.3% same-sex households, respectively). Atlanta, Ga., (2%); Phoenix, Ariz., (1%); and Tampa, Fla., (1%) were the top-ranked in the big cities category, with populations of 250,000 or more. “Florida and Nevada have some of the best tax and cost of living benefits for retirees,” according to HP. “The weather, while hot in the summer, provides the kind of winter living that has made them attractive to retirees and visitors alike for generations. If you like hot and dry, Nevada is fantastic. If you like hot and tropical, Florida is your better bet. But no matter which you prefer, these mid-sized cities provide convenience to bigger urban centers, with the affordable housing values found in more suburban enclaves, and built-in numbers of same-sex household that usually indicate a gay-friendly environment.

NEED WOOD

By Woody Miller

DON’T TRUST

THE FUZZ!

H

ey Woody! I’m a cop, and I get more respect for being gay from straight co-workers than gay acquaintances. Why are gay men so suspicious of gay cops? I guess part of it is that I work for the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) and though I’ve never done a bust in a gay bar, all the bartenders know who I am and spread it around. Sometimes when I walk in, the place parts like the Red Sea. People who don’t know I’m a cop hit on me, but when they find out they disappear without a trace. When I go out to the bars I don’t go to case the joint, I go to party and have a good time. Can you help us gay cops? Any suggestions for making our hunting a little happier?

y Dear Cop: Well, this isn’t exactly sex advice you’re asking for but I was so taken with the visual (guys circling like vultures then scurrying like rats) I figured what the hell. First thing is, you need to find new bars. I believe in skiing downhill, not up. If that’s not possible, then make friends with the bartenders. Get to the bars a little earlier and chat them up when they’re not so busy. Disarm them (with your charm, not your gun) and let them see you’re there for the beef, not the arrest. And be sure to leave big fat tips. Reduce their fear and they’ll reduce the gossip. Third, and most important, Duhmaster General, don’t tell people what you do for a living while you’re in the bar. Christ, I hope your smarter in your stakeouts than you are

Hey Woody! My salmon is sagging. It used to point toward the ceiling when it got hard, now it droops at a ninety-degree angle. Is this normal as you grow older or should I be worried? --- Party-drooper

y

— Cop no attitude

in your cruising. I’d be nervous too if I met a cop in a bar. Aside from the drugs, any intelligent person who’s been drinking thinks about the possibility of a DUI. Meeting a cop in a bar would blow anyone’s anxiety off the chart. I suspect you’re flirting with a little victimhood here. If you know saying you’re a cop is going to freak people out, why do you tell them? So you can whine about how guys reject you? Tell them when you get home.

Dear Party-drooper, Getting older sucks. Women get sagging tits, men get droopy d--ks, and drag queens get tapes that skip. Here’s why d--ks hit bricks: As you age, less blood rushes into the penis because the arteries narrow. Then the suspending ligaments decide to loosen up. Both work together to lower the angle of your dangle. There’s a couple of things you can do to help willie reach for the sky: First, lose weight. Excess fat along the stomach and base of the penis interferes with the upward angle. Second, exercise the muscles that angle the penis upward when they’re flexed. Squeeze the muscles that stop urination. Do it hundreds of times a day. Third, get hotter guys. Or better p-rn. An 80-year-old can have the angle of an 18 year-old if he’s stimulated enough.
