Welcome to this week’s special Automotive Edition of Hotspots! As a car guy, I was especially excited because the Detroit International Auto Show was unveiling brand new vehicles literally as I was writing the feature. I could have written a whole book just on the new technology that seems to be evolving faster than smart phones these days. Instead, I

decided to focus on this year's winners, and the car buying process itself. My hope is that if you are planning to buy or lease a vehicle, just as tens of thousands of other fellow LGBT’s are doing, you’ll find this helpful. Also, please remember to support dealers who, in turn, support our community. Enjoy the journey!

ister Act” will star Latrice Royale, Willam, Peaches Christ, Heklina and more at Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale on February 2. This show marks the South Florida Premiere of San Francisco Icon Peaches Christ's cult movie send-up. Peaches Christ, perhaps best known as the host of San Francisco's Midnight Mass, created this drag parody of the ilm “Sister Act,” with the show having already seen sold out performances in San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland. Drag superstar, Florida resident, and reformed criminal Latrice Royale stars as a struggling Reno, Nevada drag performer who spills the tea after she accidentally witnesses the murderous side of her showgirl “sister,” LeWanda Balenciaga, portrayed by South Florida legend Tiffany Fantasia. Latrice inds herself in the rare position of having to re-enter

It seems Sister Willam has a hidden talent for singing and tucking but just needs it to be brought out... her voice that is. When Reverend Mother Christ suggests that Latrice use her "experience" to direct the failing church choir, Latrice embraces the challenge and eventually makes the parishioners EAT IT. Much to the dismay of the grumpy choir director Sister Heklina (Founder of San Francisco's Tranny Shack), Sister Mary Latrice handles her choir with ease, featuring NUN other than the talents of South Florida's own Rose of Boca, Tayanna Love, Joanna James, Elishaly D'Witshes, Kalah Mendoza (your current reigning Miss Florida F.I.), and your

Much of the talent featured in this particular production comes directly from the South Florida pageant scene, including winners of my own Mr. and Miss Pride South Florida. You can't take everyone with you, but I'm so excited to share the stage with my dear chosen family. What should the South Florida audiences expect from “Mister Act”? A brilliant script that re lects the people and culture of South Florida in a way that they won't expect. I love playing this version of Whoopi's character, and especially because my hometown audience will be so familiar with parts of my own scandalous past, it will be a really unique opportunity for us to not only celebrate how much we love this movie and the music in it, but have a good ol' laugh at yours truly. |||||||||||||||||||||||| By Peter Clark With the new year comes new cars. Having grown up in the car business for most of my life, I have always looked forward to January and the North American International Automobile show in Detroit. Having worked as Vice President / Director for General Motors and eventually Volkswagen of America, we worked all year to prepare for this moment when we could impress the world with our latest models and hottest concept cars. In fact, I was there when we rolled out the 1997 All New Beetle to amazing fanfare, having driven the concept car much earlier under tight wraps. We've come a long way and buzz words like hydrogen fuel cells, lithium ion, all-electric, hybrids and even driverless are now part of our automotive vernacular. If I told you there would be driverless cars on the road in 2018 just a few years ago you would have given me the stinkeye. Well here we are and yes, thanks to virtually every manufacturer (especially Elon Musk of Tesla and Google) your next UBER may be driverless soon than you think. Will we be saying goodbye to fossil fueled cars? Not just yet, but as we gain more and more con idence in alternative powered vehicles and technology forges ahead at lightning speed, stopping at the pump will slowly become a thing of the past. So, what's all the hype coming out of Detroit? We can honestly say, the future is unfolding right before us as auto manufacture’s from all over the world put their best foot (or peddle) forward introducing some stunning new cars, SUVs, trucks and concept vehicles. So, let's get started on what we think will be the hottest cars and trucks that appeal to our LGBT community!

Let's Start with this Year's

Detroit International Auto Show Winners:

The awards are among the most prestigious in the industry because they are chosen by a panel of more than 60 jurors from print, online and broadcast media across the United States and Canada. Here are three categories:

2018 North American Car of the Year: Honda rolled out a completely new car for the 2018 model year. It's powered by a choice of two different fourcylinder turbocharged engines. Hybrid and high-performance versions are offered. It's also the biggest Accord ever, in terms of interior space. 26 | Hotspots.LGBT

>>Honda Accord

"Honda seems to have executed some sort of magic trick -- not only is this 10th-generation Accord far sleeker and more decisively styled than its predecessor, it's somehow roomier inside, too," said CNET's Chris Paukert, a juror who voted on the award. This is the third year in a row that Honda has won one of these awards. The Honda Civic won Car of the Year in 2016, and the Honda Ridgeline pickup won Truck of the Year last year according CNNMoney's Chris Isidore

2018 North American SUV of the Year:

>>Volvo XC60

Completely redesigned for 2018 the XC60 is an SUV not designed to look down on others, but to drive. The exterior has an athletic stance thanks to Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture platform (SPA) with exquisite details including signature Thor's Hammer headlights. The interior is a masterful composition of well-resolved architecture, beautiful materials and the very latest technology - all perfectly blended together. The XC60 provides a true Scandinavian experience which will make Volvo customers feel special.

2018 North American Truck of the Year:

>>Lincoln Navigator

Navigator is Lincoln's lagship SUV, combining modern luxury with advanced technology to elevate family travel to irst-class. A modern design turns heads, while Navigator's smooth power helps families move con idently along the road. A luxurious, spacious interior allows irstclass seating for everyone aboard, with 10 power outlets to keep all passengers charged and connected. The 2018 Navigator oers all-new Lincoln drive mode technology, an advanced system that allows owners to adjust the vehicle to make driving easier and more enjoyable in any weather or terrain with the twist of a knob. An allnew heads-up display is customizable to complement the 12.3-inch digital cluster – incorporating the same groundbreaking digital light processing technology used in movie theaters. le boy turns 3! “We grew our customer base and overall business by over 20%. Ifeel one of the reasons we are so successful is that we have no cover charge!” By Scott Holland

I can't remember where or how we met, but I can tell you from the moment I met Sean David, we have been instant friends, and almost 20 years later the friendship is stronger than ever! So you can imagine how happy I was to interview my rd friend just a few days before his 3 anniversary owning Le Boy.

there was nowhere for the bar to grow anymore. Johnny's was a 30+ years old bar, and I owned it in its last 10 years, and I felt that it was the right time to close it down and bring a fresh, clean and upscale form of entertainment to south Florida.

At what age did you get into the nightclub business?

How has the first 3 years (I can't believe it's been 3 years already...damn I am old) been and was it everything you expected?

I was 28 y/o when I got into the bar/club business.

What has changed since you opened?

What was the first club you owned? Boardwalk was my first bar.

What made you buy Johnny's?

I always liked the space and location of Johnny's.

What made you close Johnny's and open Le Boy? Of course 13 years ago when I bought the business and the property - there were more gay bars in that area. Now most of the gay bars are located around Wilton Manors. And that was one of the reasons I wanted to move, and be as closer as possible to the “drive”. The other reason I moved was because I felt

34 | Hotspots.LGBT

The past 3 years were amazing! We grew our customer base and overall business by over 20%. Ifeel one of the reasons we are so successful is that we have no cover charge! We also offer an indoor (none smoking!) and an outdoor area of entertainment, a platinum VIP room for those who wants privacy, friendly and welcoming bar staff, beautiful male models from all over the world (our models are respectful, professional & classy), The DJ's are top of the line with the newest remixes & hits, drag entertainment, the energy, and the fun. One more thing I did was to open a small

Liquor Store next door to LeBoy, called - Late Night Liquors, which is the only liquor store in Fort Lauderdale opened till 2am & 3am on weekends!

How would you describe LeBoy to someone who has never been there?

LeBoy was born out of vast experience and wisdom being in the business for so many years and listening to the news and requests of both guests and employees.

This being the last weekend of the month long celebration of LeBoy 3rd anniversary, what should your customers expect this weekend?

This last weekend we are going to have $3 cocktails and beer from 710pm on Friday Saturday and Sunday, 50% Off VIP room every day before 10pm, over 30 hot male models, great energy & vibe, and on Saturday and Sunday Jan 27+28 we are going to have Adult Movie Star - Sean Mygers live on stage for our month long finally.

CAR BUYING MADE EASY WHAT TO BUY?

||||

By Peter Clark

M

ost people are often very uncomfortable with the process of buying a vehicle and rightly so. It's damn hard to keep up with current trends, purchase options, screaming car ads, not to mention the ever-changing technology. Let me try to make it easier for you so you won't be pulling your hair out in a showroom somewhere with a salesperson telling you “that I have to check with manager”. So, before you venture out into the car buying jungle and let your endorphins kick in with that 'new car smell', think about these three key points:

1. What do you want? 2. What do you need? 3. What can you afford? If you can't answer these basic questions, then you are not ready to make the second largest investment in your life besides your home. Think about it… “I want a Bentley coupe, I need a full-size SUV, I can afford a hatchback”. So, balance these three key factors by using both emotional and rational side of your brain. Hopefully the rational side

44 | Hotspots.LGBT

Remember how many times your teacher told you that knowledge is power? That adage remains true to this day, just make sure it's not fake news being fed to you from dubious sources. The irst thing I suggest is decide the type of vehicle you need. Coupe or sedan, SUV or pick up… you get it. Once you do that then venture out into the wilds of the open road and check out the vehicles around you that it your vehicle type. Take time the next time you stop for groceries or meet your friends for a drink to check out what other people are driving and see if something catches your eye. It's the 'birds of a feather' theory. If you are at the gym see what your like-minded friends are driving, I bet it will be a lot different then what you might see at the Toys R Us parking lot. Don't forget to get free advice your friends and family who are always eager to ram it down your throat (well at least mine anyway). Ask them about their vehicle, especially if they just bought it. Why did the choose that vehicle? Are they happy with it? How was the deal… You get it, after all their favorite subject is usually them and their possessions. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying all gay men are narcissistic, just don't ask my husband…

2. Get Preapproved for a Loan A preapproved car loan starts you on the right foot. You get an idea of how much you can afford, and you'll have an interest rate that you can then compare to other offers. 3. Plan Your Trade-In If you have a trade-in it's important to get your trade-in value before you go to the dealership.

4. Locate and Test-Drive the Car By now, you've settled on a few car candidates. You should see them in person before deciding.

CAR BUYING MADE EASY

ON LINE RESOURCES & APPS

Now that we have talked about the decision process and you've decided on a must-have Bentley (ok Honda) it's time to put online tools out there to work for you before you race to the dealer's lot. Check out these sites: · TrueCar.com · KBB.com · Cars.com · Edmunds.com

Here's an example of what Edmunds can help you with: 1. Research Vehicles and Features Not sure what car you want yet? The Edmunds app and website have just about all the information you need, including expert and owner reviews.

5. Check Sale Price and Warranties Once you have a target car, it's time to focus on getting a price. Call, text or email the internet sales department of three dealerships that have the car you want. The best price will be obvious. 6. Review the Deal and Dealer Financing Now that you have a price quote for the car, your big question is probably whether it's competitive. Also, some dealerships have credit applications on their websites and you can ill one out. If the interest rate is lower than the one in your preapproved loan, go for it. 7. Close the Deal If the price, inancing and fees look right, it's time to say yes to the deal. 8. Take Delivery

[ 2019 Volkswagen Jetta ] The 2019 Jetta goes on sale this spring, with a price starting from $18,545. To get the tech, though, you'll likely have to spring for the higher-end Premium models that are probably going to land in the $25,000 ballpark. Still, that could be enough to satisfy those who want an Audi or BMW, but can't get there until their next work promotion (or two).

[ Fords 2019 Ranger ] Trucks continue to lead in sales, especially for Ford across all platforms. Coming off the huge success of the F series is the all-new (and nimbler) Ranger. It's sporty good looks and multiple configurations is bound to give the Chevy Colorado a run for the money.

[ 2019 Hyundai Veloster ] Redesigned to break loose from the pack with a bold new look, inside and out. Reengineered with twin-scroll turbo and torque vectoring. Reprogrammed with next-gen technology. This is the Veloster. Reborn for 2019 and hitting showrooms this spring.

[ 2019 Dodge Ram ] The 2019 Ram 1500 is a big deal. The new Ram will be smarter, tougher and more efficient than the outgoing model, just in time to compete with the new Chevy Silverado and perennial sales leader Ford F-150.

[ 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt ] Ford announced the return of the Bullitt Mustang at the Detroit Auto Show, and it was a hit. A big part of that has to do with the beautiful, subtle, throwback looks to Steve McQueen's '68 Mustang from the Bullitt movie.

The Fosters

”XY Chelsea” brings trans whistleblower Manning to theaters A documentary feature on Chelsea Manning, whose journey as a transgender military service member reached its public moment at the same time she was handed a 35-year prison sentence for revealing state secrets, is on its way later this year. The film is called “XY Chelsea,” it's from filmmaker Tim Travers Hawkins, and it follows Manning as she leaves prison and moves forward with her 68 | Hotspots.LGBT

life. Her sentence commuted by President Obama, she then steps into a new role as a trans rights activist and as a somewhat controversial media figure with first-hand experience with what happens when individual conscience comes into conflict with national security and government policy. Showtime will release the film theatrically and then across the network's various streaming platforms, then you can hear it all from her in her own words.

Alan Cumming updates “Death” to “Instinct” at CBS A lesson in TV development: things change, sometimes for the better. Back in 2016 Alan Cumming had a new series set up at CBS called “Dr. Death,” based on an upcoming book by James Patterson. But now the show, in which Cumming portrays an eccentric, crime-solving genius, is called “Instinct,” and his character is gay and married. At recent press events Cumming praised CBS for the step forward with the

character, a seasoned CIA veteran who now teaches and writes but gets drawn back into detective work when a serial killer needs catching. Last time we covered this project we were hoping for a “Murder, She Wrote” situation, and that desire has not changed. Go forth and conquer murders queerly, please, Mr. Cumming. We'll accept a touch less coziness in exchange for the pleasure.

All good things come to an end and it's the same with “The Fosters.” The series that broke network TV ground with its depiction of a close-knit family with two lesbian moms will wrap up soon with a three-episode finale, the way any narratively responsible family drama should. But wait, that three show arc will be the set up for a spinoff series that will follow the young adult lives of sisters Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) and Callie (Maia Mitchell). Now there's going to be a “The Fosters” extended television universe

and Joanna Johnson will place the sisters in Los Angeles, pursuing grown-up lives and careers, while still keeping them in touch with the Foster family. In other words, you know your mom(s) never let you stray too far away without at least a weekly Skype call, so cameo drop-ins can be expected.

Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds is a “Believer” Hetero ally Dan Reynolds of the band Imagine Dragons is about to stir up a hornet's nest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is Mormon himself, and he's also the lead figure in a documentary called “Believer,” directed by Don

Argott (“DeLorean,” “The Art of The Steal”). The film will follow Reynolds as he investigates the abuse of LGBTQ people in the church and the rise in Utah teen suicide over the past decade. The film is produced by Live Nation Productions, and premieres at the Sundance Film Festival this month, with an HBO air date to follow this summer. It's impossible to predict if this could spark a cultural shift in the notoriously anti-queer sect, but it's good to know Reynolds is on the side of justice and decency for queer kids from a place inside the church.

Romeo San Vicente is a missionary f pleasure.

GENESIS HEALTH INSTITUTE CELEBRATES ITS By Scott Holland TENTH ANNIVERSARY! It was a pleasure to sit down with Dimitri Bakoulis, who is the Patient Coordinator/COO at Genesis Health Institute, just a couple weeks before their 10th anniversary celebration. Dr. Cabrera, who happens to be his spouse, and Dimitri opened the Genesis Health Institute back in 2007.

What made Dr. Cabrera open Genesis Health Institute?

When did Dr. Cabrera graduate from Medical school, and what did he initially practice?

If someone never heard of Genesis Health Institute, how would you describe it?

Dr. Cabrera received his medical degree with Honors in 1983. He practiced as a board certified internist until we opened the Genesis Health Institute in 2007. He gained his medical expertise providing healthcare in various settings starting at the VA Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico to varied private and HMO Practices, as well as hospital ER settings in the continental US.

Our elevator speech… okay, here goes… We are a full service Anti-Aging Medical and Aesthetic Health Center… we exist to help people look and feel their very best… we journey along with our patients through the various stages of aging… our patients range in age from their 20's where we help them stay youthful to their 80's where we help them feel and perform as youthfully

78 | Hotspots.LGBT

Great question… Dr. Cabrera became frustrated in how traditional medicine is practiced… he wanted to offer true “Preventative Healthcare”… to slowdown age-related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and inflammation. He also wanted to help improve quality of life for his patients; energy, libido, brain function, body composition and overall “Joie de Vivre”. This is where the Genesis Health Institute came from…

Hormone Therapy and IV/Intravenous Nutrition Therapy. They support increased lean muscle, energy, libido, brain function, hair and skin production, better sleep and body fat loss. We have also become experts in sexual enhancement treatments (P-Shot, Oxytocin) facial aesthetic treatments (Skin Tightening & Brightening, Facial Fillers, Wrinkle Reducers) and body rejuvenation treatments (Laser Fat Reduction and Laser Hair Reduction).

How do you know or make sure each client is getting what's best for them?

as possible. Everyone wants more energy, better sex, nicer body, more youthful face and skin… we support achieving all of these.

What are the top services you offer at Genesis? The top three treatments with the greatest impact on our patients are Bio-Identical Testosterone Therapy, HGH/Human Growth

We start by doing a specific panel of lab tests to determine the physiological baseline for each new patient. We also ask some pretty in-depth questions… most importantly though, we LISTEN. Dr. Cabrera spends over an hour talking with patients initially and together they create and launch a treatment plan focused specifically on achieving that patient's goals. As treatment continues, periodic lab tests and follow up visits with the doctor and Genesis Hotspots.LGBT | 79

Dimitri and Dr. Cabrera. staff continue to ensure patient's goals are being met. We find that most patient's goals are ever evolving and so are their treatment plans.

Do you take Insurance/Payment plans? We take most health insurance for lab work‌ we accept most credit cards and cash of course for visits and treatments. We don't offer in-house financing with the top three treatments mentioned earlier, but each of them start at only $150 a month.

What does the future hold for Genesis Health Institute? We look forward to helping more in our community over the next ten years. Dr. Cabrera and I are planning our future in philanthropic work specifically to benefit life and spirit here in south Florida.

th

What are your plans for the 10 anniversary? We're having a party and the whole community is invited‌ it's Thursday, February 8, from 5-7:30pm at our Wilton Manors location. We've partnered with associates who've donated prizes to be raffled off during the event, things like facial filler, wrinkle reducer, skin care items, and PRP/Vampire Treatments. We will also have beers, wines, soft drinks, hors d'oeuvres, etc. Please just RSVP to 954-561-3175 by February 3.

Genesis Health Institute is located at 1001 NE 26th St, Wilton Manors, FL 33305, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9a.m. to 5p.m. (closed Sundays and Mondays). For more information or to make an appointment call (954) 561-3175 or go to ghinstitute.com 80 | Hotspots.LGBT

NEVER MISS A

W

e are well into 2018 and many folks have begun to turn their New Year's resolutions into reality. Some have launched into new exercise programs, shed extra pounds and already feel energized and renewed. Others have revised long held workout regiments so that they can reap even greater rewards this year. And if you're one of many who haven't started exercising yet, now's the time to get with a program that's fun and effective for you! No matter which of the

86 | Hotspots.LGBT

“ Diversify your activities and make them enjoyable occasions to look forward to with joy. ” above scenarios fits your present situation, the key to enduring success with any exercise program is to make sure you never miss those workouts. Here are a few ways to stick with your fitness plan and keep it consistent and fun. Have a masterplan. On the weekend before, map out your workouts for each of the following days. Maybe you're going to weight train 3 days of the week. One day you're hitting the pool for laps with friends. On other days it's a power walk or a nature hike. Diversify your activities and make them enjoyable, occasions to look forward to with joy. Schedule your exercise routine into your calendar. Tell friends and co-workers that you'll be unavailable during those times. Better yet, drag a couple of them along to workout, too. Try and workout the same time everyday if you can to reinforce the habit. Prep your meals ahead of time. Your exercise program, indeed all of your activities are fueled by the way you eat. On Sundays prepare chicken breasts, tuna or pasta salads, chopped veggies, fresh fruit and easy to grab snacks for the week ahead. A sound nutritional plan is as important to your fitness plan as any class or workout. The more prepared you are, the healthier you'll eat all week. Morning workouts are best. Exercising earlier in the day is a dynamite way to rev your metabolism, burn excess calories and blood sugar, and ease anxiety and depression. If this is

impossible, know that exercise any time of the day is beneficial to your health and appearance. Be prepared and ready to go. Even if you're not exercising first thing, wake up and pack your workout gear, shoes, and iPhone armband. Keep these handy and in your car to remind you how vital your workouts are today. Don't be OCD about your workouts. Exercising can be fun and habit-forming, but less intense workouts are OK, too. Sometimes you just won't have time for an hour of weights or a Zumba class. A 15- minute walk or 20 minutes of stretching are also ways to burn calories and alleviate stress. Commit to someone. Paying for sessions with a trainer or setting a schedule with a workout bud will ensure that you'll not skip exercising on those days when you'd rather “skip' the gym.

Trump Establishes Anti-Gay Rights Health Division Nationally, racist President Donald Trump doubledowned on the LGBT community by announcing the creation of a new Conscience and Religious Freedom Division of the Office of Civil Rights. In case you missed the point, this is the department that will allow healthcare providers to deny care to LGBT patients and pregnant women because of practitioners' religious beliefs. 90 | Hotspots.LGBT

At a time in America when the Supreme Court is hearing a case regarding an anti-gay business discrimination case, it is particularly disappointing that the White House would reach beyond its traditional scope to empower health care providers with a legal option not to treat all patients in their care equally. That this new division is operated by the Office of Civil Rights is a laughable mockery to the cabinet level Department of Health and Human Services

to which it reports. It director, Roger Severino, has repeatedly voiced his objections to civil rights for minorities. In making the announcement of the division, Severino said, “You do not need to shed your religious identity, you do not need to shed your moral convictions to be a part of the public square.” The division is widely expected to be challenged legally by the ACLU.

JACKSON AND SFAN Partners Committed To A Cure The South Florida AIDS Network at Jackson Memorial has been a leader in providing comprehensive care to people with HIV/AIDS for more than 30 years. When the need for personalized care grew urgent in 1986, Jackson treated more than 1,600 patients, and was the only hospital in Miami-Dade to accept patients with HIV/AIDS. Today, Jackson is actively involved in research to develop new ways to treat and control HIV infection. We believe that a cure is within reach as we continue to provide quality care to our patients.

BRIAN BROWN BY D’ANNE WITKOWSKI

I

magine you are in a grocery store parking lot loading groceries into your car when up behind you comes an old man. He looks confused, seems agitated and his clothes don’t fit him right. He says to you, “Don’t worry. I am mentally stable. In fact, I’m a genius.” Chances are good that your first impression will be that the man before you is, in fact, not mentally well. So when the President of the U.S. taps America on the shoulder by way of Twitter to make such a pronouncement, it is, to say the least, very worrying. And yet we have Trump, the idiot that millions of Americans were dumb enough to vote for. I didn’t think we could do worse than George W. Bush. But I was wrong. And let me stop you right there if you’re about to make a “I never thought I’d miss George W. Bush” comment, spare me the nostalgia. I don’t miss him. At all. The man lied in order to start a war that we’re still god damn fighting. Not to mention the fact that he was terrible for LGBTQ rights. Like Brian Brown, for instance. Brown is the president of National Organization for Marriage, which was founded in 2007 in order to combat the scourge of marriage equality. And though that battle seems over with equality on the winning side, Brown and his ilk are still fighting. And Trump has been a real gift to them. Not just Trump, though. Mitch McConnell as well. Stealing a Supreme Court appointment from Barack Obama, McConnell managed to tee up the appointment for Trump to make in-between trips to the golf course. Which is how we wound up with Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch. He’s 50, so assuming he doesn’t eat Big Macs in his bed and watch TV all day like the president, he’ll likely be on the bench a long, long time. Brown sees it as a good step toward overturning Obergefell v. Hodges, the decision that made marriage equality the law of the land. “The Supreme Court is not our ruler, so we don’t view the Obergefell as legitimate law, it’s illegitmate law,” Brown said on a Jan. 5 podcast. As far as he’s concerned, it’s just a matter

of time before he gets a “friendly” (read: anti-LGBTQ majority) court. “[We are] working to the point where we can get another court decision by a friendlier court that can overturn Obergefell. And that may take some time, although one important success over the last year was the appointment of a good justice to the Supreme Court,” Brown said, referring to Gorsuch, “and ultimately Obergefell is going to be overturned by getting a decision to the Supreme Court.” The thing is, he’s not wrong. Overturning Obergefell could absolutely happen. Brown and other Trump cheerleaders are very determined. They want to re-criminalize homosexuality and ban same-sex couples from getting married or having children. They want to punish transgender people for having the temerity to challenge their precious male/female binary. They want to abolish abortion. And of course they want tax cuts for the richest people in America. And they will literally stop at nothing to make these things happen. They are willing to literally risk the fall of Democracy, the failure of the U.S. as a country. They are happy with a dictator, which Trump so desperately wants to be. The only way to stop them is to throw the Republicans out of office. You. Must. Vote.

By Woody Miller

NEED WOOD

HOW

HOT AM I...

OFFICIALLY?

H

— Wanting to Know

y

Dear Wanting: Your friends won’t critique your physical appearance? Mine won’t shut up about it. Are you sure you’re gay? Being heterosexual isn’t just an unnatural attraction to women, you know. It’s also the total absence of male friends yapping at your fashion sense. “How F--kable Am I?” is the gay version of “What’s the Meaning of Life?” Straight people think Rodin’s famous sculpture, “The Thinker,” symbolized man’s contemplation of his nature. Please. He wasn’t thinking, “Who am I?” He was thinking, “Would I do me if I saw me walking down the street?” Rodin didn’t have the Internet to find out but you do. Try sites like https://hotornot. com/ and http://www.rankmyphotos.com. They are virtual beauty pageants that post your picture and invites sadists like me to vote on your attractiveness by clicking on a scale from one to ten. Hey Woody! I grew up masturbating with Vaseline and I still like to use it, even for f--king. If I’m careful that it doesn’t rip the condom is

there any harm in using it? — The smell makes me hard

y

ey Woody, I’m not even close to getting laid as much as I want to and I’ve been thinking maybe I’m just not that hot. I can’t ask people I know, cuz, well, they wouldn’t be family or friends if they didn’t lie, right? So how do I find out what my real f--kability quotient is? How do I get an unbiased opinion of what I look like?

Dear Smell: You might not know the condom ripped until it’s too late, and make no mistake about it, it will rip. Stick with water-soluble lubes. “Watersoluble” is a fancy way of saying the lube washes away easily with water. Either that or it means you can get herpes from drinking tap water. I forget. Vaseline isn’t water-soluble. It’s a petroleum jelly. It’ll stick to you like that 18-year-old you plugged just to say you did him but now he won’t leave you alone. Anyway, forget Vaseline. You might as well put the condoms in a blender and hit the puree button. Besides, there’s another reason not to use Vaseline: it promotes infection. Why? Because it’s hard to wash off with soap and water. And that means whatever gets trapped in the Vaseline, like infection-causing bacteria, stays way past its welcome. You know, like your last late night mistake. You want to get rid of the little buggers as fast as you can or they’ll make your life miserable. If you really insist on using Vaseline, then use it with condoms made out of polyurethane, which doesn’t degrade when it comes in contact with oil. Many people claim polyurethane condoms transmit sensation better. The problem is choice. There are only two condoms made of polyurethane—the Avanti male condom and the Reality female condom.
