Dancing with the Stars Finalist Comes To Seminole Hard Rock & Casino on February 15th |||||||||| By Scott Holland or the irst time ever, two celebrity inalists will be joining the “Dancing with the Stars'” winter tour, –“Dancing with the Stars: Live! Light Up The Night.” Season 25 Mirrorball Champion Jordan Fisher (“Hamilton,” “Grease: Live!”) and actor/race car driver Frankie Muniz (“Agent Cody Banks,” “Malcolm in the Middle”) will reprise their incredible season performances alongside their professional partners Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m. This all-new production showcases every style of dance seen on ABC's hit show, produced by BBC Worldwide Productions, from sizzling salsas to elegant waltzes and high-energy group numbers, plus original pieces choreographed by Emmy-winning choreographer Mandy Moore. “I'm super excited to extend my experience

with my 'Dancing with the Stars' family!” said Fisher. “The tour is going to be a blast. I'm looking forward to seeing all of America!” “I have loved being a part of this season and I wasn't ready for this experience to end, so I am beyond thrilled to be going on the 'Dancing with the Stars' tour!” said Muniz. “Dancing with the Stars: Live! – Light Up The Night” will feature more of your favorite dancers than ever before, including Lindsay Arnold, Alan Bersten, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Keo Motsepe, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Hayley Erbert and Brandon Armstrong. Captivating audiences across the country, “Dancing with the Stars: Live! – Light Up The Night” gives fans the opportunity to experience the excitement, glamour and fun they see in the “Dancing with the Stars” ballroom live across the country.

It was a pleasure to sit down with professional dancer Gleb Savchenko (this week's cover model) for this exclusive Hotspots interview!

At what age did you start dancing? At 7 years old. I forced my grandma to take me to dance lesons, because I liked a girl in the class and I thought this would be a good way to get to know her.

When did you win your irst competition? I was not successful at my irst competition and my mum was really upset with me. My mum had this whole conversation with me telling me that I needed to be more focused, more competitive and needed to show my talent on the dance loor. I wanted to make my parents proud and at the age of 9 I started winning competitions.

When did you realize Dance would be your career (or one of them)? At 9 years old when I started winning all the competitions I was competing in, that's when I knew it would be my career, I was so into it.

Do you have a favorite style of dance and why? Obviously Latin American style is what I grew up doing but later on I was introduced to dierent styles like contemporary, hip hop, jazz and I fell in love with these foreign dance styles. I wanted to learn them well so I could perfect them. I really started liking contemporary and wanted to become better, because I feel like you can tell the story more in a contemporary dance and throughout the dance you can really show the connection between the dancers.

What do you like better, dancing or choreographing? I like to perform more than to choreograph. With time I have realized that being a choreographer you can translate a story through the movement. Through dance you can convey feelings and through choreographing I can enable other dancers to tell the story I want to tell, through their body language.

You have been on many country's versions of “Dancing with the Stars,” what's the difference between them? DWTS is the same concept in all the countries but the mentality and the people involved make it very different in each place. I really enjoy the US version because we have no limits. We can come up with a crazy idea like having a shower in the middle of the stage during a tango and we can make it happen! The producers are really supportive of us and try to make it the best it can be.

What should the South Florida audiences expect from Dancing With the Stars: Live! - Light Up The Night" Tour? Lots of skin, super high energy, fun numbers. There's a storyline throughout the whole show, it's really an amazing show, the audience will be mesmerized for 90 mins and will de initely leave satis ied.

You also have your own underwear collection (Gleb Collection), how did this come about? People kept asking me for my underwear, so I thought why don't I create my own line with the names of different dances shown on them? Now instead of people asking to see me in my underwear, they send me pictures of them wearing mine!

Tickets –“Dancing with the Stars: Live! Light Up The Night.” At the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m. cost $95, $70, $50, $40. All seats are reserved and available at all Ticketmaster outlets online at myhrl.com, ticketmaster.com or charge by phone: 1-800-745-3000. Doors open one hour prior to show start time.

What does the future hold for you? Well I'd love to be a judge on a TV show in the future and hope to take the Pro dance camp, which I'm doing with two other pro's Artem and Alan, to more places in the US and maybe even You are also a to other very countries. It's not successful been done Male Model, before and is the how long have Now instead of people asking to see me in my perfect you been opportunity for modeling and underwear, they send me pictures of them do you plan to people who love wearing mine! continue to dancing to learn model? from and dance I don't consider myself a model, but I do with DWTS pro's. Finally if you guys want a enjoy taking pictures, it also motivates me to 2019 calendar I might just oblige! stay in shape. My irst photo shoot was when I was 18 and I guess I'll happily always model Gleb's 2018 calendar is available now from if people want me to as it complements the amazon.comand tickets for his training camp are available now from prodancecamp.com dancing life.

Season 3

Morgan McMichaels ||||| By Scott Holland

n week 1 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 3 we met the competitors, which we were announced a few months earlier, they are: Aja (season nine; from Brooklyn NY), BenDeLareme (season six; from Seattle, WA), Chi Chi DeVayne (season eight; from Shreveport, LA), Kennedy Davenport (season seven; from Dallas, TX), Milk (season six; from New York, NY), Morgan McMichaels (season two; from Los Angeles, CA), Shangela (seasons two & three; from Los Angeles, CA), Thorgy Thor (season eight; from Brooklyn, NY), and Trixie Mattel. What we weren't told a few months ago is that there would be a surprise contestant in Bebe Zahara Benet, the winner of season 1. This week's episode only featured a maxi challenge, and the contestants were challenged to gag the judges with an “All Star Variety Show.” In the end, the top 2 were Aja and BenDeLaCrè me who Lip Synched for their legacy, and the winner won $10,000, and also had to decide which of the bottom two (Morgan or Chi Chi) would be eliminated . Ben won and decided to send Morgan home, because unlike most of the all-

26 | Hotspots.LGBT

stars, Morgan was vocal that she would send home her strongest competitor rather than the weakest link.

How has your life changed since you were on Drag Race? Leaps and bounds as I have traveled the

world and I have gone to the most exotic countries and meet tons of fans. The pay hike is always appreciated and due to the extra income I am trying to establish a property and get my life together,

What has been some of your favorite cities to visit as RuPaul Alumni? Getting to go home to the UK is always a plus. I got to see Lima Peru, which was beautiful and my mom in Australia. I just go t to go to Hawaii for the irst time, which was amazing. A bene it of traveling around the world is you get to see all the types of drag, and learn from it. How exciting was it to get called back for All Stars? Did you consider not coming back, and if so what made you come back? You don't say no to momma Ru! It was a tremendous opportunity to let people see how I have grown. I really wanted the crown and a place on the wall.

How did you prepare dierently for all stars than you did the irst time you were on the show? I was de initely more focused and involved with my looks. I had a game plan this time. Now that you have been eliminated, who do you want to win? I think it's going to be a hard decision as

everyone is so talented. These girls are coming for blood. I am very intrigued to see who wins.

What's Ahead for Morgan? I think that I am going to release my jingle from the episode and some more music projects and hopefully have a great time. Is there anything I didn't ask you that you want to talk about? I just ask everyone to make sure you follow the family and stay a fan of Drag Race. For more information on Morgan, go to: morganmcmichaelsof icial, com or you can follow her on Social Media (Facebook or Instagram/ Morganmcmichaels.

2017: A Year in Review What the Celebrities Said ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| Interviews by Chris Azzopardi

Before we forever move on from the rankling crap-stain known as 2017, let's revisit some memorable words of encouragement from a heap of A-listers who used their platforms for the greater good as they discussed important LGBTQ issues, their own sexuality, and more.

Martha Stewart “I don't differentiate a gay wedding from a straight wedding. I just don't differentiate ... I think it's absolutely a fact that all men are created equal, and so I just treated people like equals my entire life. Equals in every single way, no matter what their proclivity is or what their sexuality is, or their color or their race.”

emotional luidity or pansexual. I'm comfortable somewhere under the bisexual label, and I'm proud of it.”

Allison Janney “(Gay men) really, really love strong women. They're not afraid of women the way that some heterosexual men are. But they love a strong dame. They love a dame! So, that's high praise. It's high praise coming from the gays. So I am thrilled that I am in that club.” Nico Tortorella “I really like the term bisexual, and I fall somewhere under the umbrella that is bisexuality. I use the word bisexual because people have fought for so long for this word and the fact that it even exists in part of the LGBTIet cetera is just a beautiful thing, and I'm not gonna be the person to take, like, luidity or

GLORIA

ESTEFAN'S VERY GAY YEAR

Pop icon and emblem of perseverance has a queer movie, queer award, and now a queer daughter

||| By Chris Azzopardi hy of course global queer icon Gloria Estefan – subject of Broadway musical "On Your Feet", and muse to drag queens worldwide – has a daughter who is not straight. To close out 2017, Gloria's 23-year-old daughter, Emily, celebrated – for the irst time publicly – her one-year anniversary with girlfriend Geremy Herná ndez via Instagram. Emily's snap of the couple was captioned, “Happy anniversary to my delicate, bold, intelligent, important, honest, loving, funny (but not funnier

than me), brave, compassionate, patient, badass, talented, and the most beautiful… Moon Flower. I love you.” Considering Gloria's everlasting love and support for the LGBTQ community, Emily's refreshingly matter-of-fact coming out, then, must've been the sweet, sweet icing on her pop-legend mother's already-queer year. Gloria, who left an indelible stamp on '80s pop music with trailblazing crossover hits like “Conga” and “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” starred in last year's

Adora: Teddy, Have you seen the shots from Tawnie Silva's last party at the Lemon City Day School? The energy is spectacular; like one of those 'Happenings' from the Beatnik and Hippie Era. Teddy Behr: Yeah…His parties are like those famous Happenings but very NOW, LGBTQ Happenings, and even though we go back to the old days on South Beach, the kids now are still breaking away and creating a new fun paradigm where identity is fluid…kind of like interactive self-discovery. With his art, you could discover something you didn't expect about yourself or someone else. Adora: In the 90's guys holding hands was a thing, but most people weren't ready to throw gender to the wind. Remember when men skirts came out? However, they were

always worn with big chunky boots. It was fun, and chipped away at the old sh*t, I guess. However, Gays were still chasing 'butch.' To be who you feel like in the moment and let someone else worry about which box to check on government forms, was a long way off. Now it's all blown wide open. It transcends gender. The whole idea that anybody's SUPPOSED to be ANYTHING (according to some social expectations) is left behind. We wanted to be allowed to be who we are and felt we weren't allowed to be. In some ways though, we setup our own standards of what was acceptable, and criticized each other.’

Teddy Behr: Yeah, new ground was broken and it was liberating, but there was still a lot of focus on being 'butch' n 'buff' ‌Which is why I got to doing Teddy Behr. A soft female guy who wasn't embarrassed to be sweet. Tawnie's art, his selfportraits, his masks, but

eventually all of it, are a very unified body of work; it's all very sexy, but in a child-like way that seems ironic, and a bit dark. They're about shamelessness; the way children can be about touching, for example. Maybe the series on 'D*ldo the Clown' is a good example of the way Tawnie s work invites everyone to join in and play; a world where sexual expression and experimentation are what matter, no baggage attached.

Adora: South Beach was cool because nobody had anything to prove, except maybe how funny or creative they could be (at least in the early days). Ego wasn't in the equation. Tawnies parties, his masks, swings, play-pens where he sets-up scenarios for people to come and play, have that thing too. It's all for fun. Creatively engaged roleplaying. It's really an art that has a social purpose. It's not about him, or his masks, it's about who put the mask on and how they're working it. So, it's

like taking creative partying to the next level.

Teddy Behr: It's great to put Tawnie's personally liberating fun-based work and his events out there. South Florida still has a big and ever growing LGBTQ community. In his own process of self-discovery, Tawnie Silva's showing a lot of younger people comingup a way forward. And, it's so cool the way he's found a way to be a participating member of our community.

erhaps the greatest gift you can give yourself and the best resolution you can make for 2018 is to stay healthy and keep a positive attitude. A lot has been written about the relationship between the physical and the psychological, and how they are uniquely intertwined in each of us. Presently, with the winter cold and flu bugs taking their physical toll in South Florida, and the current toxic US political climate, there is a lot to drag us down and make us sick both mentally and physically. Learn to make the most of your free time. Know when you've had enough negativity from the news, turn it off, and get to the gym! Try a new hobby, visit an art exhibit, seek out an old friend, or better yet, volunteer your time to a worthy candidate's political campaign!

are a few ways to rise above the negativity and stay content and healthy in a not so perfect world.

1 2 3

Stay active and exercise regularly! When you exercise your heart begins to pound, your body releases endorphins (the body's own natural pain killers), which explains why a good run or workout often leaves you feeling relaxed, even elated. Doing your cardio and working out regularly can be a wonderful way to help you feel better, sleep better and look fabulous as well. Don't confine yourself to a gym. Go dancing, join the bowling or tennis leagues, take a power walk along the beach…the possibilities are limitless.

Let go of negative emotions. The tighter you hold on to miserable baggage like hurt feelings or grudges, the harder it will be to kick it to the curb. Once again, exercise is one of the best ways to vent and release bad energy that holds you back and ties you down.

Accept what you cannot change. Traffic jams, the high cost of living, a lost promotion at work… sometimes there's not a damn thing you can do! Strive to distinguish between things and people you can change and those you can't. Rather than incur further drama, accept them for just what they are and move on.

5

Don't be afraid to schedule valuable “me” time into your daily agenda. Taking care of your mind and body are essential to your quality of life. Working out, meditation, going for a run, getting a massage or facial, are as crucial to your well being as making money and getting promotions.

6

Let your light shine. Be nice, be courteous, be pleasant, it doesn't cost you anything and for the most part it's easier than being nasty and rude. You are a social creature, and a key ingredient to happiness is social interaction and relations. Hold the door for a stranger, let someone go ahead of you in traffic, greet people on the job or in your neighborhood.

MAT STAVER

W

hat I’m about to tell you may surprise you. It may shock you. It may even upset you. But it must be said. Here goes: Judges are people. And, if that’s not enough: Some people are gay, lesbian, bisexual and/or transgender, too. Honestly, I figured the secret infiltration of human gays onto courts across the U.S. was, well, secret. But right-wing luminary and alleged human Mat Staver is on to us. On Jan. 11, Staver was a guest on a rightwing radio show and was asked about Andrew McDonald, the first openly gay man nominated to be justice of Connecticut’s Supreme Court. Spoiler alert: Staver no like. You see, according to Staver, a gay judge couldn’t possibly be fair to Christians who appear before him. Probably because the mere presence of Christians causes an LGBTQ person’s skin to turn red and start smoldering. Referencing bakers in Colorado and Oregon who have been found by courts to be guilty of discrimination against gay couples, Staver tells radio host Jim Schneider, “What we typically see is someone’s identity, their being, completely wrapped up in their sexual practices, meaning that — do you think that if you had an Aaron and Melissa Klein or a Jack Phillips bakery or anything else like that where you have the LGBT clash with religious freedom or freedom of expression come before [McDonald], do you think this judge is going to be open and fair irrespective of what he does to rule based on the Constitution and the rule of law? I don’t think so.” Note that Staver says “irrespective of what he does,” not “of who he is.” That’s because to Staver, a gay man isn’t a human being so much as a series of sexual acts that Staver finds disgusting and considers immoral. Staver compared McDonald to Judge Alex Kozinski who recently resigned in disgrace from his position on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals after multiple women alleged that he showed them pornography on his computer when they worked as clerks in his court. “So, imagine a case coming before

BY D’ANNE WITKOWSKI

[Kozinski], and he’s so wrapped up into this pornography, and [the case is] about pornography or it’s about sexual molestation of someone. Do you think you’re going to get a fair shake out of that guy?” Staver muses. “I don’t think so.” Since porn and molestation are not the same thing, it’s unclear what Staver is getting at besides an expectation that Kozinski might end each ruling with, “I rule in favor of porn because porn rules [eggplant emoji].” “The question is: are you going to get a fair shake out of [McDonald] who identifies as someone based upon his sexual practices, who is identified and identifies himself based upon certain behavior?” Staver said. It’s a shrewd argument: if a judge and a plaintiff’s identity conflicts in any way then a fair ruling is impossible. So we must keep LGBTQ people off the bench. Though if we were to follow Staver’s logic, people who identify as heterosexual must also be kept off of the bench since that, too, is an identity based in part on sexual practices and certain behavior. So I guess the only solution is to have only robot judges. Thank God there isn’t a lot of robot research these days devoted to the creation of sex robots, right? [Searches “sex robot research” on Google] Oh, wait. Never mind.

NEED WOOD

UNCOUTH BEDROOM BEHAVIOR

H

ey Woody, I saw this really hot guy across the bar and I swear my zipper started moving down by itself. He was tall, with the kind of long, sinewy, athletic muscles I pop off to in my fantasies. But then we met. What an a--hole! He had all the social skills of a drunken farmhand. Everything inside me said “don’t do it, don’t take him home, you’ll regret it.” But once again the demon below my belt took over. Anyway, we’re in bed and I’m thinking, “If I can just get this guy to shut up I could really get into this,” because this guy’s body was just f--king beautiful. Well, needless to say, he was horrible in bed—graceless with no sense of give and take, no sense of timing, no rhythm, nothing. We’re flopping around and suddenly he sits on my hard c-ck without a rubber. When I said “Dude, I got a rubber right here,” he lifts his a-off me, bl-ws me and then get this---he FRENCH KISSES me. I just about had a stroke. My c-ck was picking up God only knows what kind of germs, then he sucks it and then he kisses me. All I could think about was what kind of horrible disease I’m going to get. Why do I keep going home with guys that are physically attractive but socially repulsive? And could I have prevented getting a disease if I had jumped out of bed and brushed my teeth or gargled? — Sorry it ever happened

Dear Sorry: Why do you sleep with guys you know you’ll regret? That’s easy. Because you’re a pig. Like the rest of us. Dealing with good-looking a--holes is like dealing with drugs or alcohol: When you have enough bad experiences you’ll eventually know when to say “thanks but no thanks.” You just haven’t had enough bad experiences. Like the mark of a good partier, the mark of a highly evolved sexual being is to know when to say no. As for the disease you’re likely to catch, I predict you’ll be dead in three months. Your only hope is to tithe half your earnings to my ministry. No wait, that’s not right. Damn, I gotta stop writing these columns when Creflo Dollar is on. Hepatitis A is spread by putting something in your mouth that’s been contaminated with the stool of a person with the virus. It’s a lovely disease, really, what with the jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, intermittent nausea, diarrhea and surly sex advisers using you as Exhibit A for getting vaccinated. Jumping out of bed and gargling may have helped but it all depends on how far the guy’s tongue went into your mouth and whether you swallowed before you had a chance to gargle. If you really fear he exposed you to Hepatitis you can get the IgG shot. It’s a painful motherf-ker but if you get it within 48 hours it’s an effective post-exposure protection. If you’re gay and you haven’t been vaccinated for Hepatitis A then stop being gay. It’s an easy series of two shots and it doesn’t hurt. Remember, a dose of insurance gives sexual reassurance.
