Scandals Owners Purchase Property
I
By Scott Holland t was a pleasure to sit down with Joe Bermingham, who of course I had seen around town and knew of him as a realtor. Joe has been in real estate for 22 years, and has listed and sold a billion in real estate in Broward and the Palm Beaches. He sells both residential and commercial/business. He was a good customer of Scandals since the beginning and when he heard that bar was closing he spoke to iconic Scandals bartender Pooch, and told him he would get someone to re-open this bar. Joe had some clients from Boca look at the bar, and almost had deal structured, when he met Bob and Khan, who were more motivated and the rest is history! Bob and Khan were so happy with purchasing Scandals, that four months later (Oct 12) they purchased the property. Joe now handles the marketing and advertising for Scandals. I asked Joe: What's the best advice you have for someone selling their property?
Pricing it right and REMOVE your personal belongings so buyers can see it as their own.
How is Scandals doing? It's right back on track and we almost have all the customers back. We are even getting emails from the snowbirds who are telling us how excited they are to come back to Scandals when they come in for the winter.
The Scandals Customers seem like a family, do you agree? YES‌we just had a group of 120 of our Scandals customers/family take a 7 day cruise on Royal Caribbean (Empress of the seas) to Cuba. The bus picked everyone up at Scandals and took them to the ship.
What is the Scandals Line-Up these days? Poker is now 7 days a week and Saturdays twice a day. Tuesday's Wednesdays and Thursdays we have live music/entertainment on the patio by various artists. This is new concept for
Scandals and we are looking into a larger band or recording artist for special events. Also on Tuesday's is the Scandals Pool League, and at 7:30pm is Lee Fox's Beginners Line dancing.
Joe Bermingham On Thursdays at 7:30, we feature 2 step, shadow and a little Latin lessons with Lee Fox. On Fridays we feature line dancing with Duwayne at 7pm, followed by Bill and Duwayne DJing from 10pm to 3 am. Friday on back patio is Karaoke with LeAnn and Dan 8pm On Saturday's from 6-9pm catch Tony and Gloria live inside and then at 10pm Bill and Duwayne (Pose DJs) are back DJing until 3am. , the Pose DJs on main dance loor from 10pm to 3am. Sunday is our famous Sunday T Dance from 4pm to 11pm with various DJ's rotating, and inside we have the Dirty Game Show 8:30pm.
Any other news about Scandals?
Yes, lots! The Scandalous Dance team just won at the International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country Western Dance Clubs 25th Anniversary convention in Louisville Kentucky. In addition, the Leather Masked Ball is taking place at Scandals this weekend, Saturday November24th. On December 11th at 8pm we are featuring a Turnabout Charity Event. Also, we are bringing back the Mr. Scandals contest, December 15 at 9pm with winner receiving $400 cash, 1st runner up $100 cash, nd and 2 runner up a $50 bar tab.
For more information on Joe, you can wither call him at 561-703-0064, email him at joe@joebermingham.com or go to his website: JoeBermingham.com. For more information on Scandals, call them at 954-567-2432 or visit their facebook page.

24th Annual
Hurricane Showdown
International Gay Softball Tournament
By TIM MARTIN, SFAAA CHAIRMAN “I igure not being the most Sports minded person in the world (that's a nice way of saying I know nothing about sports), I would ask Tim to write about this weekend, and what a fabulous job he did….. Scott Holland.” Three days of fun, sun, and softball are the recipe for the 24th annual Hurricane Showdown international gay softball as more than 1,000 players, partners, and other participants descend on the Fort Lauderdale area for Thanksgiving weekend. Local teams from the South Florida Amateur Athletic Association make up a third of the tournament ield. A total of 55 teams from 17 cities and Canada are scheduled to play Nov. 23-25. Some ly in from as far away as Portland Oregon, Toronto, and Minneapolis, while those closer to home drive in from Tampa and Orlando.

The Showdown, which also brings together local sponsors and businesses, provides a safe environment for the LGBT community and their supporters to gather and compete. This will be the third consecutive year that the tournament is presented with the support of Prudential. "It's great to see lots of new teams joining us and we look forward to welcoming back all of the returning players who make this part of their yearly plans,” says Tournament Director Michael Moody, 61, of Fort Lauderdale. “We're proud of our great city and love to show it off to the world. The local venues and our host hotel are really rolling out the red carpet this year." The tournament is played at Mills Pond Park in Fort Lauderdale and Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City. Off- ield events begin on Wednesday, Nov. 21, with a local registration party at In inity Lounge from 6-9 p.m. The

opening registration party is Thanksgiving night at Matty's on the Drive from 6-9 p.m., with a nightcap hosted at Pint from 9 p.m.-close. GYM Bar will host Friday night's party from 8 p.m.-close, while The Pub will welcome everybody Saturday night from 7 p.m.-close. The closing ceremony will be held at the Alibi/Monkey Bar on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. after the championship games. Each host bar will be offering a Hurricane Showdown specialty cocktail as well as other discounts with tournament bracelets.
The host hotel is the Courtyard by Marriott, just a few steps from the sandy beach and Atlantic Ocean.
The tournament sports three divisions of play based on skill: D Division, C Division and B Division. All teams play three round-robin games to determine seeding for the doubleelimination tournament. Trophies are awarded to the top three teams in all divisions, and this year each winning player will receive a ball cap.
“The Hurricane Showdown has been, and still is, one of my favorite tournaments outside of the World Series to attend,” says Ray Garcia, 29, of Boston, who plays with the Twin Cities Spikes. “My overall great irst experience is what brought me back the second time, and the rest is history with a continued show of support and hard work from the league and community.” Teams can choose to play on Fridays, which makes this event
unique compared to other LGBT tournaments. Friday's games are at Mills Pond Park. Some teams then travel to Piccolo Park for play on Saturday
and Sunday morning, and all divisions will return to Mills Pond on Sunday afternoon for the championship games. The community is encouraged to come to Mills on Sunday, Moody says, as the tournament will be giving away prizes like weekend stays at local resorts, airline tickets, dinners for two at area restaurants, and "other stuff.” Friday night also features a home run derby at Mills Pond.
“I can honestly say that the Showdown is one tournament that I absolutely look forward to every year,” Garcia concludes.

Costa Rica, officially named as the Republic of Costa Rica, and in turn, also better known as the Swiss of America due to its climate, its diversity of landscapes that go back to that nation its currency is the Colon or Colones was named in honor of the discoverer of America Christopher Columbus, is a sovereign nation, organized as a unitary presidential republic composed of 7 provinces. Located in Central America, it has a territory with a total area of 51 100 km². Its capital, political and economic center is San José, and its official language is Spanish. It is one of the strongest democracies on the planet. It gained worldwide recognition for abolishing the army on December 1, 1948, abolition that was perpetuated in the Political Constitution of 1949. Its human development index of 2018 is considered high, since it is the 63rd in the world and the 4th in Latin America , while adjusted to the inequality also obtains the fourth regional position, with a Gini Coefficient of 48.2. In addition, in the ranking of the Global Competitiveness

Index of 2018, it is 55th worldwide and 6th on the continent. Costa Rica is emerging as one of the richest, most progressive, developed and stable countries in the Americas, standing out in the environmental indexes, freedom of the press, personal freedom, security, equality, democracy, wealth distribution, social progress, health and education. In 2007, the Costa Rican government announced plans to become the first carbon neutral country in the world by 2021, when it will celebrate its bicentennial as an independent nation. The name Costa Rica to designate the national territory appeared for the first time on a royal cedula dated December 17, 1539 and sent to the Audiencia of Panama in 1543, in which the Spanish King Carlos V granted special permission to Diego Gutierrez and Toledo to perform the conquest and colonization of Costa Rican territory, which henceforth was called New Carthage and Costa Rica. The Republic of Costa Rica, with its exuberant rainforests, volcanoes, paradisiacal beaches and such incredible biodiversity that you would never finish it is always a good place to visit. Bathed by the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, this country has opted for ecotourism with strength and as soon as you set foot there you will understand why. The first place I want to talk about is the beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park
is one of the best known natural parks of all those that cover Costa Rica. The country could practically be divided into reserves and parks and there would not be a lonely corner because if Costa Rica stands out for its vegetation and biodiversity. The Manuel Antonio National Park, in the province of Puntarenas, is one of the most spectacular. Its paradisiacal beaches, its air of relaxation and vegetation and its fauna make that everyone who enters does not want to leave. Yes, beware of the animals because it is very likely that when you get lost monkeys, raccoons or other animals, they steal your food. And the second and last but not least beautiful and less important is the expectacular6. Climb Cerro Chirripรณ. The highest mountain in Costa Rica should be a must, or almost.
Cerro Chirripo

Casado Not only to conquer the heights after facing a demanding walk, but because from the top of the Chirripรณ you can enjoy beauties and natural wonders not visible in other parts of the country. We recommend that you go more than once to fully enjoy Los
Crestones, the Valley of the Rabbits, the Sabana de los Leones, the Valley of the Lakes and the Valle de las Morrenas. Extra points for reaching the top on a clear day: you will see the two oceans that bathe the beaches of Costa Rica. Apart from its history and its beautiful landscapes this beautiful Central American country is its culture which is very diverse and rich in family tradition and last but not least the welcome to the LGBTI community, although still marriage between same sex couples does not It is legal your civil rights are repeated as are your civil obligations. But before we can not leave out its rich and delicious cuisine which has delicious dishes such as the most famous of all nationally Married or typical food, is the most common dish in Costa Rica. It consists of beans, rice with red peppers finely cut into cubes and onions, fried plantains, a salad of cabbage with tomato and carrot, and a selection of meat between chicken, fish, pork or beef with roasted onions. The meat that comes with a grilled or sauteed, but never fried. Sometimes, the married person includes chips or additional vegetables, such as avocados. And finally to close with a flourish the unequaled El Ceviche is an appetizer consisting of fresh raw fish marinated in citrus juices like lemon with finely chopped herbs and vegetables. The best ceviche is made with local tilapia or corvina (white sea bass) and cilantro, garlic, chili, onion and celery. Hotspots.LGBT | 75

You're going to need certain things for sure, so best to stock up and have backups ready. Example? If Aunt Joan burns the cranberry sauce, you'll be glad that you stocked up on two cans of it and have them handy in the pantry! What can you stock up on?
· Canned goods, including soups, veggies and that all important cranberry sauce! · Water · Wine, beer, drinks and mix - stock the bar! · Wrapping paper, tape and gift bags. · A few extra 'gifts' - have a few bottles of wine or chocolates in gift bags handy for that unexpected gift from the neighbor or crossing guard. You don't want to be running out last minute!
· Have extras of everything your family uses regularly so you don't have to do a run to the store in the days leading up to or after the holidays. That includes everything from basics
like toiletries and paper towels, right up to favorite snacks and drinks for the kids. · Firewood for the ireplace. Decorating—From the turkey to Santa
Making the switch from autumn Thanksgiving decor to full on holiday mode may leave you scrambling! Ideally, have plastic bins with decorations for each holiday in separate ones. That way, you can put away one

These can stored away when they're not being used in a basement closet or storage area, safe and sound. method of gift giving. If that's the case, your list will be that much shorter! But even if you have to buy for everyone from Aunt Mo to Cousin Laura, you can get a lot of it done in advance. Leverage online shopping if you can, as there are quite a lot of deals to be had and you save all that time wandering from hot and crowded store to hot and crowded store! Shopping with a glass of wine or a cup of eggnog in hand is so much more appealing! Again, make sure you have one or two extras so that you can return the sentiment to those who give you a gift unexpectedly! Hosting a gathering—Are the in laws coming over? If you've got family or friends visiting you over the holidays, be ready for anything and
everything! The key here again is to get some things done in advance so you're not worrying about them in the moment. · Have extras of things like toothbrushes and travel sized toiletries, so that you can accommodate that last minute guest who had one eggnog too many!
· Catch up with ALL of your laundry, so you're not fussing with it while you have guests over. 80 | Hotspots.LGBT
Make sure all the extra sheets and towels are washed and clean, with blankets and pillows at the ready for beds to be made up. · Check with family you haven't seen in a while about allergies or foods that they don't enjoy before you set the menus and buy ingredients.
· Make room in closets and cupboards for extra coats, boots and clothing by storing some of your own family's items in bins or hanging racks, in the basement. · Give yourself a present and have a cleaning service come in and do a thorough job of cleaning the house in the days before your mother in law arrives!
One really nice way to greet people and have them feel at home is to have a basket of hotel style slippers at the ready, so your family and friends can feel comfortable but aren't walking around in their stockings or socks! The theme for all these tips is to do what you can ahead of time, be prepared for all eventualities and you'll be able to sit and enjoy your holiday and guests with a lot less fuss or stress! Happy Holidays! Home organization expert for ModularClosets.com, Marty Basher, offers these tips to keep your holidays organized and relatively stress free.
