Meet Nam Myo! (Formally Carlos Villar)
By Scott Holland Photos: William Giovanie Photography
We sat down with Cover Model Carlos Villar who recently changed his name to Nam Myo to ind out more about this sexy Actor. How long you have been acting? Since I was 19 years old. I have been a dancer my entire life. I started ever since I can remember, as I grew up in Cuba dancing. I moved to the US in 2008 when I was 17 to pursue my dream. How did Acting Begin? I decided to become an actor because I wanted to perform again. I had a dream to become famous and be accepted by others. I was on a path to inding out who I was. I had many great experiences and was able to grow and diversify my talents. I played some important roles in theater and ilm, such as Hamlet and Julius Caesar. In 2010 I moved to California to study acting in The American Music and Dramatic Academy in LA. It was very hard for me, because I didn't speak a word of English, but somehow I got in. What brought you back to Miami? I was away for six years in Hollywood and New York and the Industry got to me, so I decided to come back to Miami and ind myself again. I suered for many years with this kind of identity crisis. Then I had the fortune to be introduced to Nichiren Buddhism and receive my Gohonzon. How did you get rid of your accent? I studied Shakespeare and voice and speech. My irst leading role outside of college was to play Hamlet. Where in Miami have you worked? I have worked in a lot of commercials (Intel, Chase, Sprite, etc.) and in the Micro Theater Miami, which also helped me with my directing and writing skills. The funny thing is I came back to Miami not to work, but to spend time with my family and get back to my roots, and I have been acting here more than anywhere else. What do you do for fun? Dance is still my go to for fun. I just got back into it, and it reminded me that even though I gave up dancing many years ago, I am a dancer and dancing is who I am. What are you doing now? I wrote a ilm about my experience being a dancer as a young boy in Cuba, stopping the dancing (cultural stigmas) and then ighting

for my right to be a dancer. I am planning on going to Cuba to shoot this ilm. This is a self-empowering movie about bullying during high school. This ilm focuses on the character who has to stop bullying himself and accept the fact that he is a dancer and shows that once he accepts himself his friends accept him. He then teaches his friends how to dance. Are you single or married? I have a commitment to myself and I do have a partner. How did you meet your partner? Was it love at irst sight? We met misticly and were connected to each other in profound ways. Even being friends for a while we always shared a commitment and connection to each other. He actually received his gohonzon and now we practice together. Describe yourself in 3 words? Genuine, risky, and passionate How would your partner describe you in 3 words? Happy, sweet and kind. What's the ultimate goal? To produce that ilm I told you about and to make a change in the world. I want to inspire people through my own life. Media has so much power, and I hope this ilm will do just that. No fame or outside acceptance is greater than the pleasure and joy of encouraging someone else's life. Easy Christmas Dinner
By Andreus Quinones Growing up in my house in Puerto Rico, was anything but traditional. With a Jewish dad, and a Roman Catholic mom, the holiday traditions were very different. The only thing that brought it all together, was being Latino. Turkey seems to be a universal symbol of the holidays for the most part. So we always had one. I am a fan of ham, but a greater fan of Pernil (Puerto Rican style Roast Pork Shoulder), which you will undoubtedly find at any Puerto Rican holiday gathering. I have combined some of my favorite recipes, and decided to share them with you all. Happy Holidays, from my home to yours. 42

Things you'll need: Depending on how many people you will host, depends on the size of the meats you get for your dinner. I usually like to have at least a 20lb turkey. I also substitute traditional ham, with a pork shoulder, which you can get for less at your local butcher. A 13lb pork shoulder (pernil), will cost you less than a ham of the same size. This dinner consists of Turkey, Pork Roast, Pecan Sweet Potatoes, Corn Pudding, Rice Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Gravy, and Cheese Flan for dessert. I don't do bread during holiday dinners, since there is plenty of starch and carbs already. 10 large sweet potatoes 6 oz of pecans Dark brown sugar Molasses or pure maple syrup 10 medium sized red potatoes 4 large onions 2 dozen large eggs 1 box of chicken flavored stuffing mix 1 piece of chicharron (pork belly) 12 oz of sundried tomatoes 1 ½ cup of white wine (Chardonnay will do fine)
3 sticks of unsalted butter Several sprigs of fresh oregano Several sprigs of fresh rosemary Fresh Italian Parsley Cornstarch 2 cups of fresh cranberries 2 cups of granulated sugar8 oz of cream cheese 1 can of sweetened condensed milk 1 can of evaporated milk 26 oz of Coarse Kosher or Sea Salt Oven safe cooking bag for up to 25 lb turkey 1 medium red onion 1 large green bell pepper ½ cup of olive oil + 4 tablespoons 2 pkgs of vico yellow saffron rice 2 packets of Goya Sazon con Achiote ¾ cup of vinegar 9 cloves or 9 teaspoons of garlic 2 tablespoons of dry oregano 1 tablespoon of coarse pepper 2 lemons ½ cup of milk Pure Vanilla extract 1 cup mayonnaise ¼ cup of mustard 1 teaspoon of paprika 2 cups of sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
roasting pan. Put roast in, skin side up, pull the skin back and pour the rest of your mixture on the pork, making sure it's covered and going into the holes. Cover the roast back with the skin. Make sure the skin is dry, and sprinkle with a good amount of coarse salt. Put into oven and roast at 400° F for one hour, then at 300° F for 4-5 more hours. Do not cover. This you can do ahead and sit aside to warm up later, unless you have dual ovens.
MOIST ROAST TURKEY: Take your turkey, allow it to thaw. After removing all the giblets, trim any access fat or hanging skin from your turkey. Clean the turkey thoroughly inside and out, rinsing repeatedly with cold water. Pat dry with paper towels inside and out. In a large pot pour your entire container of sea salt or kosher salt into at least a quart of water, and let simmer, stirring into the salt completely dissolves. Allow to cool completely to room temperature. Put turkey in the cooking bag in your sink, the pour the brined water into the bag. Run water from the sink into the bag until it is almost full, and then tightly zip close the
Instructions:
PORK ROAST (PERNIL): With a sharp knife, carefully separate the skin/fat part of the pork roast from the meat, but not completely. You want to create an attached flap, so that you can re-cover the pork roast. Preheat your oven to 400°F. In a small bowl mix together ½ cup of olive oil, garlic cloves or minced garlic, pepper, dry oregano, 2 packets of Sazon and the ¾ cup of vinegar. Take your knife and make stabs about 1 ½ inch deep all over the pork roast. Pour a ¼ of your mixture into the bottom of a Hotspots.LGBT | 43
You can remove the rack with the turkey. taking the contest of the roasting pan, and putting it into the blender or food processor. Pour into a sauce pan, bring to simmer, add the remaining white wine, and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch until thickened.
GRAVY:
Taking the contents of the roasting pan (onions, herbs, chicharrones, and all the bits you can scrape out) and putting it into the
bag. Move the bag around a bit to distribute the salt. Allow to sit for at least 4 hours in the brine. This will ensure the turkey is moist. Preheat your oven to 400° F. Take your turkey your turkey out, give it a super quick rinse and pat completely dry on the outside. Take a roasting pan, with a rack, and in the pan cut two of your large onions into quarters. Leave them in the bottom of the pan, add diced up chicharron, reserving a few pieces on the side. Add a couple sprigs of rosemary and oregano, and half of your bunch of parsley. Put the remaining sprigs of rosemary and oregano, halved onions, and chicharron into the cavity of the turkey. Pour ¾ cup of the white wine into the roasting pan. This will create flavor and act like sort of a steam bath under the turkey. Mix together a stick of softened butter with minced garlic and some diced parsley, oregano and rosemary, until you create a sort of paste. Glide your fingers under the skin of the turkey where the breast starts. Don't completely separate the skin from the breast, just about 3 inches in. Begin to push some of the butter paste under the skin, and massage it deeper in along the turkey from the outside until you have all your butter mixture in on both sides. Put your turkey on the rack and the rack into the roasting pan. Put into the oven for about 35 to 40 minutes to brown the skin. Turn the oven down to 350° F and cover the breast with foil. The turkey needs to continue to roast for another 3 ½ to 4 hours, pulling the foil back, and basting with the pan drippings every half an hour and re-covering. Allow your turkey to rest at least 20 minutes before your carve it. 44

blender or food processor until smooth. Pour into a sauce pan, bring to simmer, add the remaining white wine, and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch until thickened. Add salt and pepper to taste.
PECAN SWEET POTATOES: In a large pot, boil all of your sweet potatoes until soft all the way through once pierced with a fork. Allow them to cool and with your fork, scrape the skin off. Smash (don't mash) the sweet potatoes, leaving them with some texture, and allow them to cool. Butter a rectangular pyrex dish, set aside. Mix the cooled mash potatoes with ½ cup of butter, ½ a cup of milk and two eggs, vanilla and 1 1/3 cup of brown sugar. Sometimes I like to add the juice of 2 lemons, but that is optional. Just mix until it comes together. Spread evenly into buttered pyrex dish. In another bowl take your 6-8 oz of pecans, and toss with ½ cup of melted butter, ¾ cup of brown sugar and ½ cup of flour. Layer on top of sweet potato mixture. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 375° F. If you want to add
marshmallows, then take the dish out, add marshmallows on top, and return to the oven for 5 more minutes.
add some dill, and substitute the mayo with sour cream.
CHEESY RICE STUFFING: CRANBERRY SAUCE: To make your cranberry sauce. Thoroughly rinse your fresh or dried cranberries. Cover with water in a saucepan, about 3-4 inches about the cranberries. Add 1 cup of granulated sugar and stir. Bring to a boil. Add your choice of a dry cinnamon stick,

or a few whole cloves (in cheesecloth). Allow to simmer very, very low, until the cranberries have broken down to a compote type of texture. Cool and serve.
RUSTIC RED POTATO SALAD:
Take your red potatoes (leaving the skin on), and rinse them thoroughly. Slice them into cubes and place them in a pot of ice-cold water. Add about 5-6 eggs to the water. Allow to boil for about 10 minutes, then cover and let set for another 5 minutes. Remove the eggs, and deshell them. Cut the egg up into slices. Dice half of a large potato. Add both to cooled potatoes, and then add your mayo and mustard. For an extra kick

CORN PUDDING: Combine one can of whole kernel corn with one can of cream corn, set aside. Beat 5 eggs, and add ½ cup of heavy cream, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 1/3 cup of butter. Briskly mix in 4 tablespoons of cornstarch and 1 tablespoon cinnamon (optional). Bake in a buttered pyrex dish or casserole for 1 hour at 375° - 400° F oven. Allow to cool, and serve.
CHEESE FLAN:
Take 8 oz of cream cheese and allow it to soften. In a mixer or food processor, put the cream cheese, 7 eggs, 1 can of evaporated milk, 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract to mix until smooth and well-incorporated. Set aside. Preheat oven to 350° F. Take a roasting pan, and inside set a round pyrex dish or round cake tin. In sauce pan, over low heat, melt 1 cup of granulated sugar. This will become a caramel. Immediately pour that caramel into the cake tin or round pyrex. Give a few minutes to cool and harden. Pour the cream cheese mixture next into the pyrex or cake tin, then in the roasting pan around the dish, pour hot water, just up to the sides. (This is called a “baño de Maria”. This is similar to making a cheese cake. Make sure that you secure the top of the pyrex or cake tin with foil, and then place the entire thing (pyrex/cake tin in roasting pan, into the oven. Bake at 1 hour to 70 minutes in the oven. Take out, remove from the roasting pan, and allow to cool. Give it about 5-6 hours in the refrigerator without removing the foil. Take it out of the fridge, remove the foil, and carefully run your knife around the edges of the flan. Cover the dish with a plate, and carefully flip over! Wala!! Happy Holidays!!!

"You're my first. Be gentle with me. Can we start with, like, a foreplay thing
where you can just take it easy on me? Some gentle licking perhaps, and then we'll get into the heavy stuff." And so my interview with Michael Bublé, who has almost made me forget he has a wife, Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, begins. Returning to music with a new heart-emojititled album called love that he will support on a world tour in 2019, Bublé – who introduces himself by that mononym when he rings me directly – spoke openly on a variety of topics, 52

including the difficulties of being a public figure amid familial distress, atoning for his “sexist” Christmas song and doing his part to support the LGBTQ community.
It's sweet that this album uses the heart emoji for its title, though the gay community certainly wouldn't have argued with you naming your album using the eggplant emoji. Oh god, I wanted to use the eggplant. You have no idea.
You fought for that. I did. I had long conversations about it. And you
think I'm joking. I've already said this a million times when talking to my friends: They were like, (in a deeply bro voice) “Why didn't you use the eggplant?” and I'm like, “Oh, I would have.”
Did you intend for the album to be a Band-Aid for our divisive times? Yeah, it's funny that you just said that: I've actually said that in private. You know what, man, obviously everything I've gone through has everything to do with this record and what I want to put out to the world. I had different names that I'd come up with, but there was nothing that really explained the record and the concept as well as just one word could. The record is about love, but it's not simply about romantic love. It was really a record that was kind of my theory on this word, this emotion that has so much range. When you hear it you think, “Oh god, romantic and lovey-smovey,” but there's so many different things that happen with that word. “When I Fall in Love” is such a beautiful track and people say, “Oh, it's so romantic.” It is romantic. But for me, it's really sad. As I put myself into the character of that song, I thought about a guy sitting at the bar at 4 o'clock in the morning, drunk, looking over at another couple, wishing that he had that because it hasn't happened for him. It's very unique in that way. It's a very sad song about longing. I could go on through the whole tracklist. They all have a story for me.
Did you personalize any of the songs? I wanted to do the best I could to be as personal and honest in the storytelling, in
becoming the characters for the song, but at the same time give the audience a way to be able to hear and have their own opinions.
If I want to use this album to get a guy to fall in love with me, which song do you suggest I play to make him swoon? Honestly, I think “La Vie En Rose” (a duet with jazz vocalist Cecile McLorin Salvant) is incredible because when I did this song my concept was to build a mirror of the relationship I had with my wife. It was me going to this foreign land with someone who didn't speak my language and having this kind of dance of love with them. I felt like there were these two characters and one is singing to the other, where I was singing to her in my language and my culture and she was answering in hers. Though we were on this path together, we were still apart; and by the middle of the song we have this beautiful dance together, this incredible night, and by the morning we were walking through the streets of Paris. I have sort of assimilated to her culture and I am singing in her language, and I loved that because that's exactly what happened in my life.
I don't think you thought you'd be recording music again after your 5-year-old son, Noah, was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016, days after our last conversation. But I've heard you say he's holding up and is in remission. Was creating this album more cathartic than past albums? I don't think I ever fell out of love with making music or being a creative person; I just think I knew it had to be put aside. The part of being a public person, that part I didn't know if I was

There are always reminders every time you go out and people speak and you're trying to move on with your life or yourself and your family. blissful – and if it ever becomes what I consider work, or egotistically driven, then I would step away. But I never fell out of love with making music. You know, I'm having to leave the family and stuff for little bits, and if I do then it has to be for the right reasons.
Harder than usual to leave the family right now? No, it's not. When I do something, I know that there's a great reason for it. We can make more money and we can make more music and we can make more this and more that, but it's time – you can't make time. I wanna make sure I'm spending time doing what I love and that it's all worthwhile.
You talked about being an LGBTQ ally in our last interview. Why did you decide to express your compassion and advocacy for the LGBTQ community at that moment in your career?
I don't know if it was about that moment. I think I had an opportunity to speak with you, and I felt like it was a really good chance to say how I felt. Now more than ever I think it's important for me to just be honest, and it's what I believe. It's part of who I fundamentally am, how I was raised. And it's about equality. It's simple. That's it.
I wish it were so simple. When we last spoke, Trump hadn't been elected, and a lot has changed in the last couple of years politically. How are you feeling about the way this administration has treated the LGBTQ community and other marginalized groups? I don't… (pause)... it sounds crazy, but after what I've been through, I really promised myself that I would try not to get into – and when I say “get 54

into,” I just didn't want to be a part of negative things. So I stopped reading things. I stopped reading things about myself. I stopped reading things that made me feel badly. I really, truly feel like more than ever in my life actions speak much louder than words do and how you treat people is – it's funny, a friend heard me talking to my son. My son was going to his first day of kindergarten and he saw me kneel down to my boy and I said to him, “Noah, I just want you to know that” – and it sounds like a cliché, but I said, “You treat people the way you want to be treated, kid.” I said, “If you're kind to people and you're good to people, life will always be OK for you.” And I got up and I walked away and my friend said to me, “They may not remember what you did or what you said but they'll remember how you made them feel.” I can't stop the politicians or stupid, uneducated people from thinking and saying and doing stupid things, but I can make a stand, I can talk to you, and when I'm with groups of friends or I'm in public places or when I'm with people who I think can use that sense of love and education, I can open my mouth and tell them how I feel. And one at a time, you can change the world like that. Listen, I've gone through too much not to feel this way. I just feel this way really strongly. I also think it's important – it's really easy for someone selling something, an artist, to say that they support or love the gay community; I just think it's a different thing to say it than to do it.
When we spoke in 2016, you told me you had plans to get involved with the Harvey Milk High School in New York City, but then, of course, you had to tend to your family. Do you plan on picking up where you left off? As a matter of fact, (my publicist) Liz (Rosenberg) and I have spoken many times and talked about the plan that we have. We have a plan (that involves) the Hetrick-Martin Institute (a NYC-based professional provider of social support and programming for LGBTQ youth and host agency for the Harvey Milk High School). To start, I just wanted to go. I wanted to go and just let people know they had my support. Young kids who have been bullied and haven't
felt comfortable have a place to go, which is just disturbing in the first place, that in 2018 they didn't. There wasn't an environment where they felt they could be who they are. Listen, I can't get into the details. I can't.
You can't get into details about the project? Not those details, but within my family there are things that I can't really speak to that have made this even more pressing for me. It's because it's not my story to tell. But I'll just say that within my family these are the same issues that every family has. I wouldn't and I couldn't talk about something so personal. Definitely, I just know there needs to be advocates. Being a public person is having a responsibility sometimes to show that kind of love and that kind of support and to step out there and to do that. It's not an edgy f*cking thing to do. It's not.
For some public figures it seems so.
isn't how it has to be, and this isn't how it's going to be.” So for me, it's really massive to be able to meet kids and to say publicly – really: “It's not always going to be like this.”
In light of the holidays, you do realize your gay fans would've gone wild for a version of “Santa Baby” by you that was actually called “Santa Baby,” right? (Laughs) Yeah, exactly. Instead of “Santa Buddy.” I think I used “Santa Baby” in one of the lines.
You did. I should've gone full.
I mean, a straight man can shop at Tiffany's. (Laughs) Yeah, no, you're right. It's funny: When I did that song, I tried to put it into my perspective and modernize it. I changed words; I asked for a Rolex or Mercedes or things I would want. The best part about it is: I get to sing those kinds of songs now in my life, and if I do concerts and I wanna add a Christmas song,
Why? Because what – half of the audience doesn't buy your records anymore? Well, that's fucking stupid, isn't it? Then you gotta ask yourself if you want half of those people buying your records in the first place, and what's really important to you. Because if you're gonna tell people that you know what's important or that you've had an epiphany in your life that you know what matters then, again, actions speak louder than words, don't they?
Knowing what Noah has gone through, has the feeling of loving your kids no matter who they are, which we discussed in 2016, intensified in the last couple of years? No, it was always the same. I could tell you the truth: I never had to find that perspective, I always felt that way. And I think I'm very lucky because I really do think that came from the way I was parented. I really do think I was very lucky to be raised in a family that was so open and liberal and loving. I just think they were always so unconditionally loving – not just toward us children, but toward our family. Again, clichés, but I just tell both of my boys now that they're old enough to understand: “You know, boys, the things that make you different are what makes you special.” What's amazing to me about that school and wanting so badly to go to that school is, I just feel so strongly that the difference between a child and an adult is only life experience. An adult's life experience is, “It's gonna get better. This
then you know what? I can amend it and I can sing “Santa Baby.”
A straight guy singing “Santa Baby” is the progress we need. F*ck yeah. You're right, you're absolutely right. It was sexist of me not to.
I'm looking forward to your live rendition of it. I'll do it for you. That's a promise. I promise I'll do it for you even if it's not fucking Christmas.
Even if it's the middle of summer? You think I'm kidding, but you shout it out and I promise you I'll get it done. Madison Square Garden, f*cking done.

Polinesia Francesa (Francia) e Islas Caimán (Reino Unido).

In 1828 it passes to control of the Danish West Indies, and in 1848 it becomes part of the Netherlands Antilles. During the 19th century there was a gold rush, and to that prosperity was added the opening of an oil refinery of Standard Oil in 1924, in the port of San Nicolás, the largest in the world for its
time. In 1927, the APM ("Eagle Refinery Company"), a subsidiary of the oil company Shell, which imports Venezuelan oil, was established in the "Druif" area, very close to the port of Oranjestad. During the Second World War, there were two important ports for the fuel supply of the allied forces operating in Europe. What exposed those two ports to the siege of submarines of Nazi Germany. Before concluding we have to highlight the exquisite cuisine of this beautiful island. Next, three very rich and renowned dishes from Aruba. We start with the rich stew, made with beef, chicken or fish. This exquisite dish is traditionally served with Moorish rice and beans or corn purĂŠe, also called funchi.
Curazao We continue with the second, In Papiamento you enjoy all the flavor of the Caribbean. It is located in an old mansion, where you can appreciate lush tropical gardens and rare antiquities in the Dutch style. It is recommended to order the specialty of the house: seafood casserole with fine herbs and vegetables from the garden, served in a clay pot. They
also have grilled steaks baked and grilled, which you can accompany with the wines from your cellar. And third, but not last and not less delicious, it is more than one of our traditional dishes, thanks to the access that our Island has to the most delicious seafood, it is also a preparation that you will easily find in the vast majority of luxury restaurants.

6 Steps to Help You Keep Your Holiday Eating Under Control
T
he holiday season can be stressful for a variety of reasons, and if you're serious about your workouts and proper nutrition, you may feel especially concerned. Temptation lurks on every buffet table, at every party, and at every family gathering. Most often these demons attack in the guise of favorites like creamy eggnog, home- made baked goods, scrumptious hors d'oeuvres and other calorie dense culprits. As social commitments and holiday chores multiply you find it harder to hit the gym. As frustrations grow, the temptation to give into binge eating grows heavily upon you.
Don't panic! Stay active. Get to the gym as often as you can. Here are a few steps you can take to keep your eating in check. 1) Moderation is the key – Food is more plentiful during the holidays, but you don't have to be a slave to your cravings. Find a happy balance that suits
your dietary needs and body building goals. Have a cookie, but not the whole tray. Try not to give into binge eating or stress eating because you're depressed. Don't let friends and family push food on you. 2) Fill up before you go to dinner or parties – Many people overemphasize the communal activity of eating over enjoying the company of friends. Focus on the social activity when you are at a gathering instead of staking out the buffet table. Eat a good- sized body building meal before you go out so that you aren't hungry and tempted to pig-out on fattening foods. 3) Have a plan in mind – Ever hear the adage, “If you can't beat them, join them?” Consider using the season between Thanksgiving and New Years to bulk up. I don't mean that you should eat indiscriminately; instead, eat turkey and other high protein foods. Keeping yourself full of
body building foods will help you stay focused when faced with fruitcake and pecan pie 4) Fill up on fiber – Many people do not eat enough raw fruit and vegetables to begin with, but almost every holiday buffet table has a tray of these front and center. Heap your plate with veggies and fruit and you'll get plenty of good fiber and vitamins.
5) Eat smaller meals more frequently – Eating several smaller meals more frequently helps you burn more calories. If these meals consist of low fat, high protein foods like chicken, tuna, hard boiled eggs, tofu, yogurt, and whole grains you will feel fuller, and less tempted by holiday no-no's like cookies and fudge. 6) Get Involved in Food Preparation – If you're hosting a party make sure that you provide a healthy array of foods that you can enjoy guilt-free. If you're going to a party, bring a vegetable tray or a healthy casserole. That way you'll know that there will be something healthy for you to eat and your host will think that you are a caring and generous person.

need ADVICE
By Andreus Quinones
Dear Andreus, I think I have the worst dilemma that anyone could have. I recently started dating this guy. He is just my type. Nerdy, quirky, a bit goofy, and super cute. The problem is that my best friend, who I spend mostly all my free time with, doesn't like him. He can't give me an answer other than, he feels that my new boyfriend is annoying, and not the right match for me. It has come to a point now that my best friend doesn't really hang out with me much anymore, because he feels some type of way about this guy. What should I do? How do I keep both in my life and have some type of balance? Sincerely, Looking for Balance
best friend is jealous. That doesn't mean it is intentional, but this is what happens sometimes when we start relationships. Sometimes friends feel left out.
Dear Looking for Balance, You are never going to be able to control whether people like each other or not. That is just human nature. What attracts us to some people, is the very thing that might turn other people off. Unless the person you are with is toxic in some way or hurting you, you really should not stress yourself out worrying about whether your best friend likes him or not. Your best friend is not dating him, you are. You must create the balance. Designate time with your best friend and with your boyfriend. If it is uncomfortable for your best friend to be around him, then don't create scenarios where they are both involved. It could be that your
Dear Old Schooler, I don't think that your way of thinking has to do with being old school or traditional at all. I think that it is very logical. I was always taught to never let your best friend and your significant other spend too much time together. Honestly, unless they are doing something for you, they should not be hanging out together unless it is with you. If they both love you and value your relationship with each of them, they will take your feelings into consideration. Another question you might wanna ask them both is Why they feel the need to spend so much time together?

Dear Andreus, I have a dilemma. My boyfriend and my bestie have become really good friends and taken to hanging out together sometime when I am busy. My boyfriend doesn't seem to think there is anything wrong with this, and neither does my best friend. I am very old-fashioned when it comes to relationships, so it bothers me. Am I wrong for feeling this way? Sincerely, Old Schooler
