la isla mujeres

“...muy famosa por sus paraísos naturales...”.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The beauty of the Isla Mujeres cannot be measured by its size, since in just eight kilometers long by half wide, the traveler finds so many attractions to choose it as a vacation spot that soon

forgets the tiny dimensions of the island. To the north of Cancun, in the State of Quintana Roo, Isla Mujeres has positioned itself as a tourist alternative to the Riviera Maya, much more relaxed and that allows to enjoy the same charms of the Caribbean Sea. Honeymoon destination and honeymoon travel, Isla Mujeres welcomes travelers throughout the year. As in Cozumel, the French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau was captivated by the seabed and the Isla Mujeres reef. Guided by the local diver Ramó n Bravo, Cousteau immortalized the underwater fauna and flora, and showed it to everyone with his unforgettable reports. Its transparent waters, warm, shallow and full of life

are a paradise for divers, whether professionals or amateurs. Therefore, if we like to dive, the possibilities are endless whether it's simply doing snorkeling on our own or with the tours that take us by boat. In the north is the most important population, point of maritime entry to Isla Mujeres and where restaurants and craft shops are concentrated, Hidalgo being the axis on which life circulates. The walks along the Malecó n and the cobbled center make us feel in a homey and peaceful atmosphere. The North Beach is animated by the day, but the ideal time to go is the sunset, when the sun god bathes in the Caribbean waters, offering a sublime sunset. Going down the road near Playa Lanchero we observe the signs of Hacienda Mundaca.

Arc de la Trigueña at Hacienda Mundaca

To the south of the island is El Garrafó n Submarine National Park, which offers diving, hiking, zip-line, swimming with dolphins in the Dolphin Discovery, kayaking or simply relaxing on the beach. We must not miss the opportunity to know its coral reef, suitable for all audiences to be at shallow depth. Currently managed by Xcaret is one of the main activities of Isla Mujeres, as well as the Turtle Farm "Tortugranja", fascinating option for families with children, since with the supervision of protection

personnel allows tourists to help in the return of the turtles born whose mothers spawn on the beaches of Isla Mujeres between the months of May and September.

With the aim of mitigating the deterioration of marine habitats, the MUSA or Underwater Art Museum was born in 2009, an artistic initiative whose task is to create marine ecosystems from sculptures that form reefs. It is possible to enjoy the seabed diving or with the glass bottom boat that shows us

under our feet a marine world in tune with the sculptural works with human forms.

Sculptures of the MUSA, Underwater Museum of Art

If we want to see Isla Mujeres from the sea, the departures by boat from the cooperatives that are on Rueda Molina Avenue surround the island showing the beauty of the turquoise water coast. Other highly recommended diving excursions are to the cave of the sleeping sharks, the Cuevones, the Media Luna or the Valle de las Barracudas. It is important to know something very interesting to know how to mobilize on this beautiful island. The best option is to use the bicycle as a method of transport, and leave only taxis for cases of great hurry, since the dimensions of the island invite to slow rhythms. Even so, you can rent scooters or golf carts that have become an innate element of Isla Mujeres. One of the things that makes this island an earthly paradise is access to it, since Isla Mujeres has an airport in the southern part of the island with flights by plane, especially from Cancun Airport, which is the best option to get there. from another part of Mexico or the world. The other option is to arrive at the ferries that dock at the dock in the northern part of the island, where the largest population is. The boats depart from Hotel Zone of Cancun, Puerto Sam for the car ferry (45 minutes journey), or from Puerto Juarez (there are also speedboats every half hour) with a time of twenty minutes to get to Isla Mujeres. Near the north end is the tourist ferry dock, where visitors disembark to enter the main settlement of the island. The city houses shops, restaurants, bars, brightly painted houses and the Municipal Plaza. Upon arrival you can rent mopeds, golf carts, bicycles and taxis. Before saying goodbye, we must talk about the interesting places to sleep on the Island, from which we should not expect to find the luxurious and gigantic resorts of Cancun since the island is a paradise to be preserved. However there are hotels of all prices and stars. The lodging options go through small boutique hotels of Caribbean style, concentrated in the town of the north zone, camouflaged between the houses of colors that at sunset seem like a palette of painter.
