Q-Force Jon Lovitz

Thursday, September 2 Netflix premiere's Q-Force today, a 10episode arc that will feature Sean Hayes, Gary Cole, David Harbour, Patti Harrison, Laurie Metcalf, Matt Rogers, Wanda Sykes, and Gabe Liedman Synopsis: Steve Maryweather, AKA Agent Mary, was once the Golden Boy of the American Intelligence Agency (AIA), until he came out as gay. Unable to fire him, the Agency sent him off to West Hollywood, to disappear into obscurity. Instead, he assembled a misfit squad of LGBTQ+ geniuses. Joining forces with the expert mechanic Deb, master of drag and disguise Twink, and hacker Stat, together they're QForce. But, after a decade of waiting for their first official mission from The AIA, Mary becomes hell-bent on proving himself to the Agency that turned its back on him, and decides to go rogue with Q-Force. After finding their own case, and solving it on

their own terms, they get the reluctant approval of The AIA, and are officially upgraded to Active Secret Agents in the field. But, that approval comes with one major caveat-F9 they must put up with a new member of the squad: straight-guy Agent Buck. For more information go to netflix.com/QForce. The Lake Worth Playhouse presents The Great American Trailer Park Musical from today through September 12. There's a new tenant at Armadillo Acres – and she's wreaking havoc all over Florida's most exclusive trailer park. The story has, at its center, a love triangle between an agoraphobic, a highway toll collector and an exotic dancer with an unhinged exboyfriend. A Greekchorus-eque trio of trailer park women helps guide the narrative, playing any character or gender they choose while breaking the fourth wall at whim to air their own dirty laundry. The result is a sense of informality and community – the lifeblood of neighborhoods everywhere. All seats, which are available at Lakeworthplayhouse.org or by calling 561-586-6410 are $35 with a dinner and Show Packages at $55 and $75. Saturday, September 4 Join SunServe for their annual body positive celebration for all body types from 5 to 8 pm. This year they have teamed up with Broward College - BC Pride to present a fun day on the lake in Dania Beach FL. Enjoy traditional beach activities and a backyard cookout style dinner. You'll also be able to participate in a host of aquatic challenges all supervised by qualified lifeguards. This is all FREE to you with the generous support from Broward College BC Pride! Although this is a FREE event, you must register online at Sunserve.org to receive location details and entry ticket.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 6 • Episodes 10 & 11

By Scott Holland

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Ru-demption & Trinity

Episode 10 starts out with Carson coming on the TV screen and saying “Welcome to the Secret RU-demption secret smackdown...it was so secret you had no clue it was happening.” What is this all about? Well the eliminated queens were lip synching amongst each other every episode to see who would eventually get back into the competition. Week 2 - Serena goes up against Giggly and Giggly wins Week 3 - Giggly goes up against Silky and Silky wins Week 4 - Silky goes up against Yara and Silky wins Week 5 - Silky goes up against Scarlet and Silky wins Week 6 - Silky was supposed to go up against A'keria, but she declines the second 24 | HotspotsMagazine.com

chance to get back into All Stars in a very respectful way. Therefore, Silky automatically advances but asks for the chance to lip synch anyways and they allow her. All I can say is she TURNS THE PARTY!! Week 7 - Silky goes up against Jan, and although they were both amazing, Silky wins again. Week 8 - Silky goes up against Pandora, and Silky wins again. Week 9 - Silky goes up against Eureka, and Eureka wins (in my opinion it should have been Silky) and gets to re-enter the competition. Episode 11 starts out with Ru telling the top 5, that during Pride celebrations everyone gets to let loose except drag queens, so for today's mini challenge they need to customize an outfit that is pride

perfect and then they will have a pride photo op. The winner of the mini challenge is Kylie Sonique Love, and she wins Levi's entire 2021 Pride collection. For the Maxi challenge the girls need to entertain Ru with true stories from their drag career on a new show they are calling the “Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent Monologues.” Joining Ru, Michelle and Carson on the main stage is Justin Simien. The runway category is “Oops I did it again, a fashionable fashion fail.” Eureka wins and gets $5,000 from Levi's and they also donate $5,000 to Outright Action International. Ru then tells the girls that they are at that point in the competition that if you are not the top all-star, then you are in the bottom. The Lip Synch assassin this week is Jaida Essence Hall, and Jaida won and the group sent home Trinity. It was, once again, a pleasure to sit down with Trinity for this exclusive Hotspots Interview: How has your life changed since you were on Drag race the first time? Oh my god, drastically. It has just been very exciting as I have gotten many opportunities and met many people that I

would have never had the chance to meet if it wasn't for Drag Race. I also feel like I have grown in my artistry. In addition, now I have a home. What has been some of your favorite places to visit as a RuPaul Alumni? Australia, and any time I go to LA its amazing as everyone lives there. I also love New York City. How exciting was it to get called back to All Stars for a second time and did you consider not coming back? I was very excited, but very panicky. At the time I wasn't doing too well with my living situation, but I had to go. I would have been foolish to say no. How did you prepare differently for AllStars than you did your first time on Drag Race? The first time I was way more prepared as I happened to have everything in my closet they asked for. This time I had to work a lot harder to get everything either made, and I borrowed or rented a lot of things. It was much harder for me this time around, but it paid off. . Is there anything you would have done differently? No, not really. I think I gave it my all. What challenge or look on All Stars are you most proud of? The Brazil look as I love the Brazilian people and culture. I did it for the Brazilian people as I know how much they support the show. Which was your favorite season; Season 6 or All Stars 6 and why? All Stars 6 because I prefer Trinity now than I did then. You are well known in the Pageantry world and everyone talks about your Continental talents. Are you planning on going back to Continental? Yes, I will be competing next week. What's Ahead for Trinity? Hopefully a business as I want to start a beauty bar. I want to be able to do drag when I want to, not when I have to. Is there anything I didn't ask you that you want to talk about? Yes, I was not mad the last episode, I was just tired. Rich Walczak

Executive Director of Miami Beach Pride Rich Walczak—by way of Philadelphia and Australia, and then with a stint in the music industry—has been the executive director of Miami Beach Pride since October 2019. But although his tenure with the organization was disrupted by the pandemic, Walczak and his pride colleagues are now ready to pull South Florida, albeit it safely, from the precipice of Covid-fatigue into the fabulousness that is Miami Beach Pride.

What's your claim-to-fame? I'm the executive director of Miami Beach Pride. Where did you grow up? In Philadelphia. What do you miss about Philadelphia? The people—my friends and family—who I don't get to see on a regular basis. How long have you lived in South Florida? For two years. Why did you move here? For the position with Miami Beach Pride. What part of South Florida do you live in? In the North Beach area. 46 | HotspotsMagazine.com

Where do you hang out in South Florida? I haven't found my go-to's yet, as I moved here just before the big Covid shutdown. What's your favorite restaurant in South Florida? Currently, me and my husband both love Crudos Fusion in Wynwood. What South Florida venue do you miss that's gone? I'm only just now getting to explore more post-pandemic! What's the best place that you ever lived? Australia is and always will hold a place in my heart.

If you had to live somewhere else other than here, where would you live? The Mediterranean. Which one of your old jobs least prepared you for what you do now? I worked as a cashier in an adult store in Australia while doing my master's degree. How long have you been the executive director of Miami Beach Pride? Since October of 2019. What's been the biggest challenge of producing this year's pride? It's been a rough ride with Covid. We had cancellation losses, had to keep the organization alive, and we had to ensure the safety of our community. But we still have to give the best possible pride that we can under the circumstances. What aspect are you most excited about for this year's pride? To be able to give our community something again. For so many, pride is the only time that they can truly be themselves, and it hurt us all when prides all over the world had to cancel last year.

What's the theme for the main stage decor at this year's pride? This year we're focusing on “One Love,” and coming together after and during hard times. The decor is going to be fabulous! What entertainer would you love to see at Miami Beach Pride? I think we need Cher to bring back her Final, Last, Finally Final Tour and tour the prides (laughs). What's been the most moving experience that you've had at Miami Beach Pride?

Launching our Faces of Pride campaign and hearing the stories and struggles of everyday queer individuals from our community. We're all so wrapped up in our own little world that we don't realize that the person next to us may just need someone to listen to them, to offer a hand, or just a hug. The world is so split right now that we need to gain that sense of community once again. What would your drag name be? If we're using the formula of first pet and street you grew up on, I'd be Lady Wakeling. What did you do to keep yourself busy during the quarantine? I got married! We also hopped in the car every weekend and drove to a different location in Florida, just to explore and get out without being around people. Will you ever retire? Yes. The goal is to continue to travel and see as much of the world as I can before I die. What celebrity did you act like a “fan” around? Working in the music industry, I've met a lot of people. But I gotta say that the most star-struck I ever was, was when I was faceto-face with the one and only, Betty White. What's the last thing that you looked at online? Artist submissions for Pride's Queer Art Showcase, and the Legends Ball happening on September 16. Would you ever pose nude? Nobody needs to see all this! How much money are we talking (laughs)? Did you ever try LSD? Nah. As someone who has highfunctioning anxiety, I can't imagine that meshing well with LSD! What's the best place that you've ever visited? Ireland. The people were the friendliest that I've ever met. What are you an expert at? Creative troubleshooting. What do you want to live long enough to see? A unified society? One can only dream… More realistically, I'd like to live long enough to travel the world and immerse myself in learning about as many different

cultures as I can. There is so much uniqueness and beauty to experiences once we step out of our comfort zones. If vampirism was real and you could live forever, would you do it? I'm not even a fan of seeing my own blood, so I'm not sure I could drink someone else's (laughs). What politician don't you like? None of them. What's your most treasured possession? My babies Charlie and Mochi, my dogs. Do you believe in ghosts? Yes. Either living or dead, who would you love to have lunch with? Lucille Ball. What's your favorite animated character? Hmm… I would have to say that it's a toss-up between Zuko from Avatar, or Louise Belcher from Bob's Burgers. What's something that you learned in life only when you got older? To stop stressing about how others view you. It distracts you from being your true self. What did you learn from your parents? That no matter how much life knocks you down, to keep pushing forward. What's your best characteristic? My sense of humor. What's your favorite quote? “'What' and 'if' are two words as nonthreatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side, and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: what… if?" How do you enjoy spending your time? Traveling with my husband and my puppies. What celebrity do you have crush on? It's a toss-up between Michael B. Jordan and Chris Evans. Who's your favorite performer? Acting wise…? Oddly, I've always been a big fan of Laura Linney. Singer…? Right now I'm in love with Jessie Ware. But it changes often! Who do you admire? I admire anyone who steps up to help create positive change in our world. Those everyday 48 | HotspotsMagazine.com

people who wake up each day, push past their own struggles, and does whatever they can to be a positive influence in the crazy world that we live in. If you could bring one person back from the dead, who would it be? My grandmother, who we lost only a few months ago. Where would you go in a time machine? I mean, where wouldn't I go? To have the chance to first-hand experience all the great moments in history would be legendary. What would your last meal be? I'd have to go with sushi. What do you worry about? Getting wrapped up in the everyday routine that I lose sight of the importance of experiencing all that life has to offer. Are you more like a sheep or a wolf? I think for all of us it really depends on the situation that you find yourself in. Who depends on you, and for what? Our community depends on me to provide them a safe space to be who they are, and I'll do everything I can not to let them down. Who are you closest with? My husband, Leo, and my closest friends, Lisa, Bonnie, Bridge and Michelle. What would your autobiography be called? Nomadic Convergence. What's on your bucket list? To retire in Spain and travel throughout the world. What's your greatest regret in life? I have regrets; we all do. But I try not to dwell on them. Had those experiences gone differently, I may not be at the point in life that I'm at now. And I wouldn't give up the love that I've found through friends and family for anything. What's something secretive about you that people don't know? I once hitchhiked through Ireland when I was 19. Where can we see you? At Miami Beach Pride, from September 10 to September 19!

The Ex Factor: How to Forge a Friendship From a

BAD ROMANCE Forging a friendship from the extinguished flames of a formerly romantic relationship is no easy task, but shutting him, her or them out completely isn't always necessary – especially if you'd both like to separate amicably and remain on good terms. We break up for lots of different reasons, but there's often plenty in common that can keep us connected to each other in one capacity or another – you were once inseparable for a reason – even when love and sex are no longer part of the equation. Here's how.

By Mikey Rox

Be

BE HONEST WITH YOUR EX ABOUT YOUR INTENTION AND DESIRE TO BECOME FRIENDS You can say something like, “I really value your opinion, friendship, energy, sense of humor, point of view, and I would really like to be friends in some way,” or “We have too much history to not be friends,” or “You're the only one who makes me LOL.” Don't beat around the bush. Let them know what you'd like from them moving forward. If building a friendship is a mutual goal, move forward. If it's onesided, however, move on. GIVE YOUR EX (AND POSSIBLY YOURSELF) TIME TO GRIEVE THE LOSS OF WHAT YOU HAD OR EXPECTED THE ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP TO BE It's OK to be angry and express that anger as long as you express your anger in a healthy way. Refrain from saying anything hurtful. Keep angry statements to how you feel – “I” statements – and not about your ex being a bad person.

Give

“Being angry is part of the process,” says David Strah, a Los Angeles-based psychotherapist and author. “Bad things happen to good people. We don't always understand why a relationship fizzles. But not understanding can lead to feeling helpless and angry. Sometimes it's better to accept that we are disappointed and can't control the outcome. Break plates, punch pillows, scream, take a boxing class – let out your anger in a healthy way.” TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR PART IN THE RELATIONSHIP ENDING Taking ownership and responsibility can be healing for both you and your ex. You don't have to rehash the past, but you can say things like, I feel badly about how I behaved, what I said, what I didn't do, how I reacted, how

Take

“...don't wait to get a call from your ex – just be there when you sense they need your support. ”

things ended. This will help both of you move forward toward a positive, healthy relationship that leaves the past where it belongs. DITCH THE BLAME GAME Forgive your ex and forgive yourself for anything that you regret doing or that you believe was done to you. If you're not completely over that trauma, it's probably not wise to start a transition to friendship; resentment is not a solid foundation on which to begin.

Ditch

SHOW APPRECIATION FOR YOUR EX Tell your ex how appreciative you are of them in both small and big ways. According to Strah, “Examples might include 'I am really appreciative of all the fun vacations we had together,' or 'I really appreciate all the support you gave me when I was going through a rough time at work,' or 'I really appreciate your willingness to help.' If you have an on-going relationship with your ex that involves pets, kids, or financial support or investments, it's important to show your appreciation for the positive ways your ex shows up – as a good parent, responsible pet owner, or provider.”

Show

BE THERE EMOTIONALLY FOR YOUR EX Let your ex know that you're available in case of an emergency, if they ever need to talk, or need someone to walk or feed their pet on a busy day. Even better, don't wait to get a call from your ex – just be there when you sense they need your support. But, like, not in a stalker-y kind of way. Don't get all Fatal Attraction about it.

Be

MAKE AN EFFORT TO DO THINGS WITH YOUR EX In the beginning, shorter visits together are usually better because there is less opportunity to fall into old patterns and start pointing fingers, Strah says. “If you enjoyed going to the movies or working out together, suggest you workout together or go to the movies,” he continues. “If your ex doesn't want to get together, try calling or sending a text. Something like, 'I want you to know that I'm thinking about you and care about you' or 'Thinking about you and hope you are having a great day' can go a long way.”

“Don't think of therapy as something you need to do to change, but rather an investment in yourself that will reward you 100 times over.”

SPEAK TO A THERAPIST Sometimes family and friends just can't provide the support and clarity that a mental health professional can – especially if a break up necessitates significant and overwhelming changes in our lives. “Consider seeing a therapist to explore and identify negative behavioral patterns and negative, self-limiting beliefs – like trying to convince yourself that you're not good enough to be in a relationship or that you're unlovable – that are selfsabotaging and keeping you from being in a healthy, romantic relationship,” Strah concludes. “Don't think of therapy as something you need to do to change, but rather an investment in yourself that will reward you 100 times over.”

(And Cheap-ish!)

Interior Design Hacks for Budget-Conscious First-Time Buyers

Upon initial walk-through of the first home I'd buy, my head was consumed with designing that space, top to bottom, exactly how I wanted. I was so eager to hit the ground running that furniture and fixtures arrived in a succession of FedEx trucks before the real estate agents sealed the deal. No longer culled creatively by a landlord, I had big plans for the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and outdoor areas. Only one hurdle: I had a conservative budget that limited my ostentatious ideas. Ever resourceful, however, I was able to bring my vision to life without going broke. Here are a few ways I did it that you can too. Freshen up the place with paint and accent wallpaper A simple coat of paint on drab walls is transformational. Anything but white is fair game in my homes, and I choose colors that will not only complement my existing wares but also inspire my mood on a daily basis. In the past I've been partial to a bright-andcheery sky blue that runs through the main room in all three of my properties, but I've also turned walls red, pink, yellow, green, gray, and tan. I also have a passion for wallpaper, but not full-on four-wall coverage. I choose one wall to drape with pattern, like behind the living room couch – and I make it count. I select 72 | HotspotsMagazine.com

ultra-premium paper from high-end producers. That sometimes costs a pretty penny, but the expense is justified in that I'm only dressing one accent wall and that one accent wall will become the focal point of that room. These days you can find quality prints on removable paper that costs a fraction of

Change fixtures instead of committing to complete overhauls When I had a contractor estimate the cost of a bathroom remodel, I was left mouth agape by the total. He quoted 10 grand, which was beyond my reasonable expectation and my budget. And that bathroom was small. So I did the next best thing. Instead of a complete revamp, I replaced the vanity,

mirrors, faucets, shelving, and lighting. I've also upgraded the toilet in the past. Elbow grease on the tile brought it back to its original luster, and for less than a grand I had a new bathroom that I also outfitted with a cloth shower curtain, stylish curtain rings, complementary floor mat, color-

the real deal on the front and back ends of the project (traditional wallpaper is notoriously hard to hang and remove). Just peel and stick and peel again when you fancy a switch-up. The price difference between the two variations is in the thousands of dollars.

coordinating towels, candles, and art. The reveal was a spa-quality oasis that left me satisfied mentally, physically, and financially. Buy floor models when possible I have a few go-to home retailers I shop when designing my spaces, most of which are accessible to modest budgets. My personal aesthetic leans more toward the styles of West Elm and CB2, but there are plenty of other outlets that will accommodate your design preferences. I never look at full price items either. If it's not on sale, I don't buy it. Most often, I head straight for the clearance sections or search for deeply discounted floor models. Large area rugs, for example, can extract hundreds from your budget, but lightly tread floor models (that can be washed professionally and inexpensively) are discounted up to 70 percent in some cases. My prized find was a gorgeous six-person glass-top dining table that retailed for $750 reduced to $250 because of a small scratch on the glass. A few months later, West Elm contacted me to receive a new glass top because of a recall on the original for the way it shattered if broken. It was delivered scratch-free and free of charge just HotspotsMagazine.com | 73

Make or print your own art Have I spent hundreds – even thousands – on artwork? Yes. Certainly not thrifty, but I saved up over time for the pieces I wanted. To offset those major expenses, I also make my own art using various resources and materials. I've turned postcards and periodical clippings into masterpiece collages; driftwood into conversationpiece jewelry organizers; and I've repurposed garage and flea finds into functional items like eye-catching reupholstered chairs. To save even more dough, I keep a file on my computer that includes printable projects, like links for rasterizing favorite photos into frameable, large-format wall

hangings (Rasterbator.net) and the free Charley Harper flora-fauna poster series available via the National Park Service website. There are tons of other searchspecific options out there for whatever tickles your decorating pickle. Invest in plants Plants make a house a home. They're relatively cheap, space up otherwise empty areas, and, well, they make everybody feel frickin' fantastic. I mix real and fake plants all over my spaces to create comfortable, welcoming environments. Keeping them alive, of course, is half the battle, but we're adulting now and plants are our babies – babies that don't scream, cry, or spit up on you. Let the straights keep those; I'll take another terrarium, please.

coverings are currently strongly encouraged for BB&T Center guests, regardless of vaccination status. Face covering policies are subject to change prior to each event – please be sure to continue to check the venue website. It was a pleasure to sit down with Nicholas Bausenwein, who is a member of our community and plays Buzz Lightyear, for this exclusive Hotspots interview. How old were you when you began skating, and did you always have the performance bug? I was about 8 years old when I started skating, but for a long time I was competition oriented. However, I always loved preforming. When I was younger, I was in the marching band and theater. At what point did you consider skating

a possible career? In my sophomore year in high school, I saw a production of Disney on Ice, and it sparked an interest in me. It looked like so much fun and thought this could be something interesting. But I really began to think about it when I was applying for colleges. How did you get hired at Feld, and what's they best part about working for Feld Entertainment? I sent in a video in the first week of Jan of 2019, and about 6 weeks later they emailed me and asked me to come skate for them in person. I showed them my tricks and how I can skate. There was also an improv section which I had a lot of fun with. I never heard back, and then I emailed them asking if I had a job. On April 1 (really that date) I got the email that I was hired. Best part of playing Buzz Lightyear? It's seeing all the kid's reactions. This is the one accessible form of Disney almost everyone can have without traveling and seeing kids who are seeing their heroes for the first time is amazing. What has been some of the favorite cities you have toured? I started in Mexico City for 5 weeks and that was cool as it was the first time I had been out of the country for an extended period of time. I also loved Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco. I was mostly west coast my first year, but now we are doing the east coast. Who are your idols/mentors in the Skating industry? I feel like I really looked up to two skaters. The first is Jason Brown who is a phenomenal performer. He is not as technical as he is a performer, and I feel like I am the same way. The second one is Adam Rippon, because he came out and then

Nicholas Bausenwein

competed as an openly gay man at the Olympics. It was a huge moment for me to see. Seeing someone live their life authentically while having such success in skating was huge for me. What are you planning to do after your skating career? I will eventually go to school and study communications and consumer psychology. Are you single or dating? I am single and on tour, but luckily there are many gay people in our show. What makes the perfect guy for you? I have been all over the place with the guys I dated. I think its about the connection. Describe yourself in three words? Extra, fun, and caring. What do you do for fun? I really like to explore the cities we visit and therefore every week kind of feels like a vacation. I also love eating at all the local restaurants. The cultures are so different in parts of our country. What does the future hold for you? Right now, I am really enjoying touring and I am living in the moment. Once this is done, I will most likely go to school. However, this past year has showed me you never know what to expect, but I feel very lucky to be at a job where I love going to work every day. Once that is over, I want to find a job that makes me feel the same way. For more information on Nicholas, go to: Instagram.com/Nbausen

HOW TO LOSE

& MUSCLE

FAT

This past week I faced three clients with three seemingly different situations. The first man is returning to the gym after some major surgery and his doctor wants him to lose 10 pounds and build up his strength. The second guy wants to get leaner, more defined abs. The third client wants to lose an inch around the middle and add an inch or two to his biceps. What do they all have in common? They want to lose fat and gain muscle. Can you achieve both objectives at the same time? Of course, before you begin any new exercise program, it is always best to talk about your goals with your physician. Here are several effective strategies on how to build lean muscle and lose unwanted fat at the same time.

90 | HotspotsMagazine.com

First, to lose weight, you must cut calories. This does not mean starving yourself of all fats and carbs! The low fat, lower carbohydrate debate comes down to this: you still have to eat fewer calories than you burn if you want to lose weight. The key here is eating fewer calories by cutting saturated fats and junk foods, and not depriving yourself of nutritious foods that give you energy and stamina. Focus on eating smaller meals, five to six times a day, every two to three hours.

BUILD

Photo: Wikimedia.org - Smastronardo

Consume low glycemic index complex carbs (whole grain cereals, pastas, fresh fruits, veggies and nuts) early in the day so that your energy level won't lag as the day wears on. Avoid highly refined carbohydrates such as sodas, white bread, and fast foods like doughnuts, chips, pastries and fatty fried foods. Second, remember that eating protein builds muscle. Protein is also more filling and satisfying. Another great fact about protein is that your body burns more calories to digest it than it does to digest carbs and fats. Build your meals around lean chicken, beef, fish or pork. That way you will burn more calories throughout the day and your muscles will get the protein they

need to grow. Third, eat more fiber. Fiber is not a nutrient, but it is very important to a healthy diet. Fiber is the part of plants that cannot be digested, and it is found in all fresh fruits, vegetables, beans, seeds, and nuts. Lack of fiber can result in sluggishness and constipation. Eating enough fiber not only provides you with a healthy digestive system, but it also helps you to feel fuller. Oats, oat bran, oat meal, beans, peas, berries and citrus can lower cholesterol. Apples, whole wheat products and brown rice help keep you regular. Fourth, remember the importance of omega-3 polyunsaturated fats found in fish, nuts, seeds, flax seeds, and fish oil. Health benefits include less risk of diabetes and heart disease. But omega-3 fats can also contribute to a great physique as well. For example, omega-3s reduce inflammation throughout the body. This not only prevents heart attacks, but it also helps sore, tired muscles to recover better and faster after a monster workout. Eat fish and eggs a couple of times a week or see your doctor or nutritionist about recommending a supplement.

By Andreus Quinones

“After all, you are dating him, not them.” Dear Andreus, I am 45 years old and have recently been seeing a guy who is 22. I have the absolute best time with him, and I find him incredibly mature. He is educated, funny and not interested in the club scene at all. The problem is that my friends tell me that I am foolish for entertaining any kind of relationship with someone so much younger than myself. I am so torn. I want my friends to be okay with it, so that I can bring him around and include him in our social activities. He wants to meet my friends, but I am afraid of how they will respond to him. Is it foolish for me to date someone so much younger? Sincerely, Mitchell S. Dear Mitchell, Your happiness should always come first. If you want to date this guy, then do that. You are both consenting adults. As much as we would love for our friends and love ones to give us their blessing when we are with someone, that is not always going to be the case. The age difference means absolutely nothing if you are both happy. You can't please everyone, and you will drive yourself mad trying to do so. If your friends truly care about you, they will support you regardless of how they feel about the age difference. After all, you are dating him, not them. Hope this helps!

Dear Andreus, I recently broke up with my boyfriend. We are still friends, though it was mostly his decision to breakup. I was fully invested in the relationship, but I realize that sometimes things just 110 | HotspotsMagazine.com

don't work out. Over the past few weeks, I have started to talk to someone new. Now suddenly, my ex is showing interest in me, acting as if he wants me back and suggesting it in conversation. I feel as if he is just doing it out of jealousy or realization of what he lost. I do still love him though. Should I give him another chance? Sincerely, Jason W. Dear Jason, Clearly, this is a decision that only you can make. From a perspective, I would give it time. I generally don't usually go backwards, because people usually have realizations after the fact – and we all know that hindsight is a b*tch. You also have to consider how invested you might be in the new guy. This could certainly be jealousy, because people sometimes don't realize what you meant to them until they see you happy with someone else. I would keep doing you, and don't make any sudden decisions about anything. You are in charge of your happiness now – choose wisely. Best of luck!
