Tributes, Starring Joe Posa & Seth Sikes Sunshine Cathedral Center for the Performing Arts January 14

The stars will align when Joe Posa and Seth Sikes unite to perform for one night only in “Tributes,” a loving homage to female leading legends, on Saturday, January 14, at 8 p.m., at the Sunshine Cathedral Center for the Performing Arts (1480 SW 9th Avenue). Tickets for this dynamic duo show are on sale, now.

This new tribute show, produced by the leading men, themselves, will bring two worlds of performance art together: female impersonation and live song. Joe Posa will impersonate Joan Rivers, Barbra Streisand, and Liza Minnelli while Seth Sikes will delight audiences with his soulful voice singing of nostalgic tunes made famous by Judy Garland, Bernadette Peters and others.

“We couldn't be more excited to debut our new 'TRIBUTES' show which will recreate some iconic moments in show business

history,” said Joe Posa. “Seth is a huge talent and, together, we will deliver a stellar night of entertainment that pays homage to show business legends, past and present, who continue to be adored and admired the world over.”

It was a pleasure to sit down with my friend Joe Posa and Seth Sikes (who I met for the first time) for this exclusive Hotspots interview:

At what age did each of you begin performing?

Joe: I started as a dancer at 6 years old and did a lot of musical and regional theater. I auditioned for La Cage in New York, and the rest is history. After many years of female and male impersonation (Michael Jackson) Joan arrived in my repertoire.

Seth: I started singing at church when I was 7 or 8 years old. In high school I got involved in theater ad then I stopped performing for around a decade. Then 8 years ago, I picked it up again with my solo career.

What was your first professional gig?

Joe: As a dancer I was 18 and I danced at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania the summer of 1985. With Drag it was an Evening at La Cage in 1993.

Seth: The off Broadway show Fame on 42nd street right after I graduated from the Circle in The Square theatre at 18 years old. It was the first thing I auditioned for after graduation, and the show closed two weeks later.

Joe, other than Joan, what is your favorite celebrity to impersonate? As a kid I loved Barbra, as I related to her so much. She gave me comfort. Then I loved Liza because I am a dancer. I loved doing her choreography.

Seth, what is your favorite song to sing? That's a hard one, but I guess its Judy Garland's “The Man Who Got Away.”

Joe, what was it like to meet Joan Rivers for the first time?

I met her when I was impersonating her at a private red-carpet event in Houston Texas, and then Joan herself was doing the presentation of the award. However, no one had told me she was going to be there. We met in the dressing room area and she was very complimentary towards me. When they announced her, she told me to go present and then she came on and said “Get off my stage Bitch” we kissed and then we hung out after in her dressing room. Over the years I had seen her, and she was always so nice and special to me. The last time I saw her was two months before she passed. I am doing my best to keep her comedy alive!

Seth, who is the most famous or your favorite celebrity you met and tell me about that experience? The most exciting person I got to meet and

know was Stephen Sondheim. I got very close with him and got to spend an enormous amount of time with him over 7 years. His friendship was a tremendous gift to me.

How did you two meet each other?

Seth: We met in Provincetown as we both work there.

Joe: This past summer I went to Seth's show and became a big fan!

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Joe: Punctual, compassionate, and empathetic, and kind and loyal…I'm Joan, I can't only say 3 words.

Seth: Zany, Kind and “a Lush”

What do you do for fun?

Joe: I love great dinners with wine. Also, Frank and I have a lovely home and I love

working in the garden and landscaping. It makes me very calm to keep my home in check. I also love going to the gym.

Seth: To be at a piano bar with a bunch of friends singing songs.

What should our readers expect from “Tributes” With Joe Posa and Seth Sikes?

They should expect a really funny, and energetic evening featuring most of the divas you love. We recreate iconic women through 2 different art forms…Impersonation and vocals. We celebrate them, and the way we do it has never been done before. And of course, it features the comedy of Joan Rivers.

Is there anything I haven't asked you that you would like to talk about?

Joe: Yes, Seth is such a talented singer, but he also does these incredible parody videos that your audience must check out on Youtube.

Seth: Thanks Joe! We are very excited about the possibility of touring with this new show.

Tickets for “TRIBUTES” start at $35 with a $65 VIP ticket including premium seating and a meet and greet photo opportunity with both performers. To purchase tickets, visit bit.ly/TributesbyPosaandSikes.

star in “Cuckoo,” a horrorthriller from German filmmaker Tilman Singer (2018's “Luz”). Prestige distributor NEON is handling this one, and it co-stars “Downton Abbey” alum Dan Stevens and Jessica Henwick (“The Matrix Resurrection”). Three cheers for trans talent on the big screen.

Kristen Stewart to direct 'The Chronology of Water'

“Euphoria” star Hunter Schaefer has two films coming next year

Hunter Schafer is a bright light among the troubled and trouble-making teens in the world of “Euphoria,” and the trans actress is just getting started. In 2023 she has two films on track for release, one of which you won't be able to avoid. “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” a prequel to the Jennifer Lawrence-starring franchise,

and directed by “Hunger Games” veteran filmmaker Francis Lawrence, will hit theaters in November of next year and feature Schafer alongside a cast that includes Viola Davis, Rachel Zegler (“West Side Story”), Jason Schwartzman and Peter Dinklage. Before that one comes along, Schafer will

It's time, of course, for Kristen Stewart to become the next great director. She's already shown the world what she can do in front of the camera, after all, so she's about to make her feature directorial debut with “The Chronology of Water,” with Imogen Poots (“The Father”) set to star in the lead role. Stewart and producer Andy Mingo will collaborate on the screenplay, an adaptation of the poetic memoir by author Lidia Yuknavitch. The story

concerns Yuknavitch's difficult childhood with an abusive father and suicidal mother, her struggle with grief and addiction, and her eventual, life-affirming coming-of-age as a swimmer, a writer and confident queer woman. Since her days of “Twilight” superstardom, Stewart has been making her own confident, arthouse-driven choices in terms of the films she's in and the directors she works with – “Personal Shopper” with French filmmaker Olivier Assayas, for example – and this bodes well for her own instincts when she gets behind the camera.

Gabrielle Union and Eva Longoria will produce a queer wedding comedy for Amazon You're about to be treated to Gabrielle Union setting it on fire in the soon-to-bereleased queer drama, “The Inspection.” Meanwhile, as the activist stepmom to her transgender child, she's also become a super ally of the LGBTQ+ community. Now she and Eva Longoria will coproduce a queer wedding

comedy for Amazon Studios. The project has no title at the moment, though both women are likely to be cast in the lead roles as rival moms, future mothersin-law, whose gay sons are getting married. The plot will involve the egodriven parents trying to take charge of the wedding for their own purposes rather than what will make their queer kids happy, and though we've seen the monster-in-law trope before, we're very excited to see where this goes. Look for more concrete news about this one in 2023.

Stormy Daniels loves 'DILFS' Everyone's favorite porn patriot, Stormy Daniels, has a new gig. The former adult film actress, known

for her brave public battles with a former Republican President, is going to host a lighthearted reality show for queer men called “For the Love of DILFS.” Now, if you need to Google what a DILF is, then you should do that, but in the press materials her job on the competition series will be to play “den mother to a bunch of Daddies.” Set in a “Bachelor”-style mansion, a group of men-who-love-men, divided into the somewhat reductive categories of “Daddies” and “Himbos,” will live together and look for love. Will the Daddies fall only for Himbos? Will the Himbos hook up with each other instead? These are the important issues certain to be explored when the eightepisode game show premieres on the OUTtv platform in early 2023. And you know we're going to watch.

Romeo San Vicente: former Himbo, forever Daddy.

Uniting in Song... Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus to Become Part of the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida

''The time is right to unify our choral community which has an abundance of notable talent and dedication," said Justin Knight, president of Fort Lauderdale Gay Men's Chorus. "The Fort Lauderdale Gay Men's Chorus has entertained for 36 years and is proud of its legacy under the direction of its founder, Gary Keating. We thank our fans and supporters who have made us proud to sing and encourage them to continue with us as part of the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida.”

This news coincides with the retirement of the founding director of the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men's Chorus, Gary Keating. Keating is credited for organizing the Fort Lauderdale chorus 36 years ago, in 1986. It was the first gay performing arts organization in the state and one of the first in the nation.

“We applaud Gary Keating's vision and commitment to keep the music alive while we also thank the community for supporting both choral groups over the years,” said Mark Kent, executive director of Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida. "Both organizations have simultaneously served the community well, but now the focus will be on GMCSF which continues to expand its reach and impact on new audiences. With the LGBTQ+ community's liberties under threat in this state and across the nation, we have decided to stand together in strength and sing to protect our future.”

The GMCSF is under the direction of Gabe Salazar and is a regional arts asset that is widely recognized for its artistry and commitment to the community. Now in its 13th season, the GMCSF has more than 150 members on its roster, making it the largest gay men's chorus in the southeastern United States.

In the spirit of unity and collaboration, the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men's Chorus (FTLGMC) will become one with the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida (GMCSF) effective January 1, 2023. This exciting transition will strengthen the position of the GMCSF which has seen amazing growth and development since it started in 2010.

In recent years, the two choruses have performed together several times. The GMCSF welcomed FTLGMC and the Miami Gay Men's Chorus as guest artists for their June 2019 concert paying tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The South Florida and Fort Lauderdale choruses have also sung together at local community events and memorials.

DEFY THE AGING PROCESS, LOOK YOUNGER LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST IN 2023!

Another year is nearly spent as a new one looms upon us. Whether you like it or not, time is passing, and Father Time spares no one the ravages of his mighty sickle. He can be a real bastard unless you come up with a strategy to defy his mighty wrath! I suppose I'm sounding a bit dramatic, but there are things you can do right now to slow the aging process and feel years younger. Why not try a few of

these healthy, inexpensive suggestions before shelling out a fortune to the plastic surgeon!

Eat less sugar. Sugar depletes your body of important minerals needed for a healthy metabolism. It depresses the immune system making your body susceptible to pathogens that will make you sick. High glycemic diets –high in refined sugars and processed foods (bagels, donuts, fried fast food, and white

100 | HotspotsMagazine.com

bread) have now been associated with many forms of cancer. Sugary diets raise triglycerides and increase your risk of diabetes and heart disease. Go with whole grains, fresh fruit, and veggies all rich in fiber, vitamins. and minerals.

Quiet your mind and meditate a little everyday. Stress can cause or at least exacerbate every major disease. The stress hormone cortisol can actually shrink the hippocampus, the part of the brain essential to thinking and memory. High levels of cortisol can also cause you to store more blood sugar and accumulate ugly, stubborn brown fat around your middle. Take a few moments everyday, put on some music and try to relax and meditate.

Eat more fish and less meat! The Omega-3fatty acids in fish are among the most heart healthy on the planet. Eating fish can help lower blood pressure, improve your mood, and feed your brain. Only two servings of broiled or baked fish a week or ½ gram of fish oil a day from fish or supplements is all you need to accrue the benefits of consuming this super nutrient. Eating less meat will help cut saturated fat (the bad kind) that clogs

arteries and causes heart disease and obesity.

Doctors often don't check homocysteine levels, but they should. According to experts, the lower your homocysteine, the healthier you are. A level of 9 umol, is generally considered optimal. Those with higher levels are dangerously at risk for heart attacks and strokes. Simply by supplementing with these three common B vitamins – Folic Acid, B6 and B12 you can bring homocysteine levels back to normal.

There's no better anti-aging strategy than daily exercise. Anaerobic weight training twice a week for ½ to 1 hour will tighten and tone muscles and strengthen bones and joints. Working out 3-4 times a week for the same amount of time can help you build the lean muscle that will rev up your metabolism. Aerobic exercise 2-3 times per week for ½ hour to 45 minutes is sure to strengthen your heart and lungs and help you burn fat. Regular exercise relieves depression and anxiety; it lowers blood pressure and cholesterol; and it keeps your weight under control.

In 2023, make more connections. People who live and work and socialize with other folks live longer and enjoy life more. Making friends, volunteering, or working for a cause and just having good friends and enjoying conversations are life-extending and health enriching.

Dec 28-31

The Raymond F Kravis Center for the Performing Arts presents a new musical comedy – “Here You Come Again: How Dolly Saved My Life in 12 Easy Songs.” Written by Bruce Vilanch, Gabriel Barre and Tricia Paoluccio, Here You Come Again features songs by Dolly Parton (and others).

Touching and rollickingly funny, “Here You Come Again” is a musical celebration of the humor and wit of Dolly Parton. In this sweet two-hander, Dolly Parton appears to a struggling NYC comedian quarantining in his parents' Texas attic after a break-up. Dolly uses her trademark charm to guide Kevin as he rediscovers hope in a trying time. They sing and swap stories—and while hand sanitizer may be scarce, laughter and rhinestones are not. Bruce Vilanch adds, “there isn't a person in the world who hasn't thought about what it would be like

to spend the night with Dolly Parton -- in our show, one lucky fan gets to do it...in his mind. Come see Dolly Parton save a life in 12 easy songs."

Vilanch and Barre last teamed up in 2018 on Delaware Theatre Company's acclaimed A Sign of The Times. “It has been a thrill to develop this show with the fabulous Bruce Vilanch and the transformative Tricia Paoluccio as Dolly, and most of all with the blessing and support of Dolly Parton!” said director Gabriel Barre.

A couple weeks before the show premieres in South Florida I sat down with Tricia for this exclusive Hotspots interview:

At what age did you begin performing?

I have always loved singing and I first fell in love with singing because of Dolly Parton's “Here You Come Again.” I fell in love with that song and her voice, and I wanted to sing it like her. I basically copied what I heard, so I really learned how to sing because of Dolly Parton.

What was your first professional gig?

When I moved to New York my first big job was understuding Brittany Murphy in Arthur Millers “A View from the Bridge.” I did that show for a year and played the part many times.

Other than this one, what has been your favorite role so far?

Nothing compares to this role and this opportunity to play my favorite person. The truth is I am the kind of actor that loves every part I am playing at the time.

Cressida in Troilus and Cressida is a 4hour Shakespeare play that is rarely done. I believe I was the worst I have ever been in the beginning of that run and the best at the end, so as an actor I loved that part. I have been lucky as an actor to play many things: Comedy, drama, musicals, etc.

“I would ask her if there was anything I can do to embody her message or spirit more...”

What's your fantasy role (a role you haven't played but want to)?

I don't think I have one, accept this one…getting to play Dolly. Have you ever met Dolly Parton? If yes, how was that; if no, what would be the first thing you would ask her?

No, but I hope to get o meet here in Nashville when we are performing there this May. I would ask her if there was anything I can do to embody her message or spirit more. Also, I would ask her if there was any way we could borrow one or two of her wigs?

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Creative, energetic, and spiritual. What do you do for fun?

I am an artist and I make pressed flower art. During the pandemic my art really took off. It was an incredible pivot for me and my art. I

did a collaboration with Oscar De La Renta. I also did the artwork for Taylor Swift and Anna Wintour. This is my other passion. What should our readers expect from “Here You Come Again: How Dolly Saved My Life in 12 Easy Songs?”

This show is a little dose of joy, and it is funny, and it is full of hope, and I believe has a really healing message. That message is, that all of us have the opportunity to overcome a sad hard time. It does require humility and to let go of who we are. It reminds people that everything you have is within you and you must let go, be humble, and look for the good. The show has a spiritual component and I think that's why Dolly herself approved of the show. And if you love Dolly Parton music, it's like going to a concert.

Dear Andreus, I have always wanted children. I have a lesbian friend, and she also wants to have a baby. We have talked extensively about having one together, but the problem is that neither of our partners are really into having children. I feel that we are both afraid of damaging and/or destroying our relationships if we decide to move forward with becoming parents. I don't think that it is fair for our partners to try to block something that could bring so much happiness to us both, especially if they really loved us. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Sincerely, Kyle R.

Dear Kyle, Wow, that's a tough one. I can understand the desire to have children and the happiness that children can bring, and at the same time trying to hold onto your relationship. Maybe if all parties involved sat down and talked about it

(meaning both of you and your partners), you could come to some type of agreement. If an agreement cannot be met, then you need to decide what you ultimately feel is most important to you in the long run. Have a calm conversation about it, and weigh out all the pros and cons. Maybe come up with a plan, even if that means that your partners both have minimal responsibility in the process. You may be able to pitch this in a way that gets you everything you want. Remember that delivery is everything, so chose your words wisely. The reservation from your partners could merely be out of fear of the unknown.

Dear Andreus, I have been dating a guy for four months now. He has an Onlyfans account, where he broadcast daily. I am not really into the whole thing and was expecting that he would stop as we got deeper into our relationship. I asked him about it the other day, and he said he had no intentions of stopping. I am a very private person, and just don't feel comfortable with the whole world seeing him that way. At the same time, I don't want to lose him. Am I wrong for wanting him to stop? Sincerely, Peter B. Dear Peter, Well, as I am sure you know – Onlyfans has become a way of life or source of income for a lot of people. The reality is that you knew that he was doing this when you met. Regardless, you decided to pursue a relationship with him. I can understand that you may feel some type of way about this, but this is ultimately his choice. Again, you knew about this going in, so it is not exactly fair to ask him to stop. Unless he is sleeping with other people, is him doing shows really that bad? Obviously, he has made a choice to be with you. You must decide whether you can accept his choices, and either stay or go. Maybe in time things will change if you decide to stay.
