Kings We Love: Oscar A.
Novva
By Scott Holland
A few years back we did "Queens We Love," and since male entertainment has gained a lot of steam here in Florida, I thought it appropriate to start "Kings We Love." The first king I am featuring, Oscar A Novva, has been entertaining for over 3 years and recently premiered his new cabaret style show, "Guys on the Drive" at Tropics Grille.
What was the rst ale ntertainer you saw and tell me about the experience?
Xavier Valentino competing at Mr. Gay USofA the year he did the joker talent. In that moment I totally identified with him as we have similar personalities in character {on stage} including stage presence and creativity . When did you decide you wanted to be a male entertainer?
The night I saw Christoper Iman winning Mr. Continental 2010 I got the bug but the night I saw Kalil Valentino winning Mr. Continental 2014 is when it became a reality in my mind.
What's your favorite number(s) to perform and why?
All my numbers are special to me because each one of them I express a life moment or circumstance that I may be going through in my life off stage. However, if I had to choose one it would be “Que Sabe Nadie” by Rafael, which narrates the life of a Man after being hurt, broken and mark for the rest of life. No one knows what he likes, who he loves, what he desires now or who he desires to love men or women. Ordinary daily living and selfexperiences in relationships and with family members make him doubt who he really is and what his real purpose in life is. What's the best thing that has happened to you as a male entertainer.
The opportunity and blessing to have my own should; to produce and direct this show “Guys on the Drive” at my actual day time job at Tropics has been my life's dream from the moment I start performing.
What differentiates you from other entertainers?
My self-confidence, charisma, and talent on stage. Through my performances I get to express through feeling the lyrics and body gestures and body language who I really am at that moment in life.
You are a former Mr. Noche Latina and a former Mr. Stonewall. Is there another pageant on your horizon?
As a male competitor that enjoys and loves the adrenaline rush of the competition world provide me with before, during preparation and the day of event I have many I want to compete in, but I will not name any at this time. However, my all-time dream that I see happening on my career and is clear on the horizon is Mr. EOY
“The achievement and the purpose behind it have helped me by keeping me busy and constantly creating new ideas for openings and themed-shows.”
(National Entertainer of the Year), but the one that is soon to come is Mr. Florida M.E 2024. I would like to take the opportunity to invite everyone to join me on my journey to conquer the crown this upcoming Oct. 6th at the venue Fort Lauderdale at 8pm. You can't miss it!
Describe yourself in 3 words? Passionate, perseverant, perfectionist. What do you do for fun?
Well, I do many things to have fun, but lately I have enjoyed few in my wish my focus all my free time in producing my show "Guys on the Drive.” What I have been lacking my whole life and now has become very fun for me this pass month, is to take good care of me and enjoy life as I feel, and also meditation plays a big role in my daily life fun activities.
You are now the host and producer of the "Guy on the Drive" Show at Tropics Grille. Tell us about the show. How did it happen, how has it been, and when and what's the theme of the next shows?
As Producer and original creator of the structure and the initial idea of “Guys on the Drive” the roller coaster of emotions because this lifetime dream has become a reality at a very crucial and particular empty time in my personal life has been a huge
blessing. The achievement and the purpose behind it have helped me by keeping me busy and constantly creating new ideas for openings and themedshows. I feel so lucky that God has put people in my life that believe in me and my talent. Every day I have been working hard to make this happen. I would like to thank, my uncle and my cast member Antonio Edwards and this wonderful group of people: Scott Holland you have been my Creative Director, advisor, and promoter of the show; Bobby Blair is also a producer of the show and has become a good friend; Victor Zepka is an advisor and promoter. In addition, the owner and management of Tropics have been there to make this real as without them this show would not be possible. ”Guys on the Drive” has more surprise themes in store for you. The next few themes will be:
Friday, Sep 06 - Hollywood Legends Friday, Sep 20 - A Broadway affair The only way to find out is to be there and not miss it! Guarantee your complimentary seats by making a reservation at 954-530-3361. What does the future hold for you? Hopefully happiness, self-growth, good health, and well-being.
Labor Yay: How to Throw am Epic Labor Day
Party
By S. Elfman
Labor Day is the ultimate excuse to throw a killer party before summer waves goodbye and Florida's weather chills out a few degrees. If you're gearing up to host a Labor Day shindig, here's how to make it lit:
Plan like a pro
First things first: don't just wing it! Pick your date and time, and make sure it's when most of your crew can join the fun. Get that guest list together and shoot out those invites — digital ones are a breeze, but paper invites are fun, too. Remember to include all the details: time, place and any special instructions.
Theme it up
Themes are your secret weapon for making your party pop. Whether you're thinking of a BBQ blowout, a beach bonanza or a classic picnic in the park, pick something that excites everyone. Going for a beach theme? Think beach balls, colorful streamers and seashells. Feeling adventurous? Why not spice it up with a “Christmas in July” or a Halloween in summer twist?
Feed your guests
Great food = great party. Since Labor Day screams outdoor fun, fire up the grill for burgers, hot dogs and veggies. Keep things fresh with a big salad, chips, dip, and sweet treats like cookies or ice cream. For the foodies, set up a DIY taco or burger bar so everyone can craft their perfect meal.
Set up a DIY drink station
A DIY drink station can be a gamechanger. Create a refreshing drink bar with lemonade, iced tea and soda, and set up a cocktail station with easy-tomake drinks. Don't forget some fun add-ins like fresh fruit slices, mint and flavored syrups. It's an excellent way for guests to mix their own drinks and keeps the party vibe flowing.
Plan
the fun
Games and activities are a must to keep the party vibes high. Set up lawn games like frisbee, cornhole or volleyball. If your crowd prefers a chill time, create a game zone with board games or cards. And why not have guests “Bring Your Own Pool” for the ultimate way to cool off?
Create the ultimate playlist
Music is the heartbeat of your party. Curate a playlist with a mix of current jams, classic bangers and songs that match your theme. If you're stuck, ask your friends for their top tunes to keep everyone's energy up.
Keep it comfy and safe
No one wants to be uncomfortable or unsafe, so plan ahead. If it's blazing outside, stock up on water, sunblock and fans and provide shaded spots. Have a first aid kit on standby and ensure there's plenty of seating. If you're going outdoors, check the weather and have a backup plan in case Mother Nature decides to crash the party.
“Great food = great party”
Capture the memories
Don't let the fun slip away without capturing some epic moments. Set up a photo booth with props and a backdrop that matches your theme. You can also encourage guests to share their snaps with a custom hashtag on social media. It's a great way to look back on all the good times!
“Look
back on all the good times”
Follow these tips and your Labor Day bash will be one for the books. So, gather your friends, make the most of that long weekend and get ready to celebrate in style!

Pandora Events’ Journey as they celebrate their 25th Anniversary of iconic events for gay women
By Maria Espinal
If you're a woman (or one of the few men) who has lived in or vacationed in South Florida over the past 20+ years, chances are you've experienced the magic of Pandora Events. You must have memories from Ultra Saturdays, Cherry Pie Fridays, Girls in Wonderland, Sweet Thursdays, Bang, Women's White Party, Aqua Girl, Winter Party and La Descarga, just to name a few. You must have danced to the beats of the many DJs they have booked or danced with their many gorgeous dancers.
Known for creating unforgettable moments, Pandora Events has become synonymous with incredible fun, vibrant and safe celebration of LGBT women.
Since the first event in 1999 at a warehouse, when there weren’t many options, Pandora Events has been a trailblazer in creating vibrant, inclusive events for gay women. Three years later, in 2001, Amy and Yesi joined forces with coproducers Alison Burgos and Julie Garrity to produce weekly and special women’s event. Julie is no longer with Pandora.
Yesi, Amy & Alison
Pandora Events members have also sat at numerous non-profits organization committees, making it better for women.
In this interview, I am proud to bring to you a bit of the story of these women, Yesi Leon, Amy Alonso and Alison Burgos, who will be celebrating 25 years of hard work to bring joy to thousands of LGBT women in South Florida and beyond. We explore the inspiring journey of how they came together, the evolution of their events, and the ever changing demographics they've embraced over the years. Join us as we celebrate their legacy and look forward to the future of their impactful work.
Can you share the story of how you all met and decided to collaborate on this venture?
Amy: Yesi and I were friends for a while and worked together in the insurance business. Yesi used to do raves and I had a friend with a new space opening in Wynwood, called Timba. I was planning on backpacking through Europe and needed funds. I asked Yesi if she wanted to do a lesbian party and Pandora was born (1998). Alison had just moved back to Florida from D.C., and was putting together her first event in Miami Beach, Sweet Charity, which grew in its second year to become Aqua Girl.
Becoming (business) partners was an opportunity for all of us.
How did you choose the name and how does it represent you?
We got the name from Pandora's box, an artifact in Greek mythology, and to us it meant releasing all the feminine energy, queer energy.
Were there any challenges in the early days. How did you overcome them?
In earlier years there was no internet, women's dating apps, etc. To connect with women, we had to go out to men's bars, post our event in newspapers and rely on magazines like She Magazine (the local lesbian magazine).
Who were your supporters in the early days, and how did they help you get started?
She Magazine was a big supporter and we also forged relationships with other promoters, like Lynn Bové from Icandee. How did you identify the needs of the lesbian community in S. Florida?
At the time I don't think we were that analytical, we just created parties that we wanted to be at. Sexy, great music, cool spaces with an underground vibe. What was your very first event like, and how was it received by the community?
Sweet Thursdays, 2009
Cherrie Pie Fridays, 2015
Women’s White Party, 2010
The very first event was at an empty warehouse. No decor, barely any furniture. We had to bring furniture from home to decorate the place and stage. We posted it on the back page of the New Times hired our friends as staff. When we opened the doors, it quickly filled up. Our first event had over 400 women. All dressed up and ready to party, from there the rest is history. How have your motivations and goals evolved since then?
Yesi: Now we all have kids and Alison and Amy are married, so life definitely feels different. Pandora gives us the opportunity to be part of our community and party with a purpose. That has become a big part of what we do know, inspiring others around wellness, equality, and family.
Which event would you say set new records that took Pandora Events to the next level?
Alison: Aqua Girl and Girls in Wonderland Festival in Orlando, which has now become the largest LGBTQ Women's week in the country, as we embark on our 25th Year of GIW we get to look back and look forward. Also, so many different types of events and experience stand out, BANG at Bongos, Women's White Party at Nikki Beach, Peach
at Atlanta Pride, Valhalla Week in Puerto Rico, Shedonism in Vegas, I love thinking back to all the memories we have created and talent we have showcased.
What have been some of the most significant milestones and challenges you've faced throughout the years?
With equality the market has changed. 20 years ago you weren't 'out' in your everyday life, you were OUT at Cherry Pie or Sea Monster. As we have fought and won equality in our communities we have had to adapt and create experiences that still resonate and keep us all connected. Women promoters have come and gone. What has set Pandora Events apart to keep going?
Pandora has always been committed to serving, celebrating, and nurturing our community and the relationships we have built, we believe that has been instrumental in our success.
Which event would you like to bring back?
We’re working on bringing back, La Descarga, dedicated to all things latin. Each one of you has moved on and now have a family. What other adventures, as individuals, are you pursuing?
Yesi: The three of us are entrepreneurs so we are always working on something. Alison has a food and wine festival, owns a restaurant and is in commercial real estate; Amy is in the arts, and I am trying to create something in the health industry that helps the relationship between doctors and families, but for now I am training to hike up Mount Everest Base camp (lol).
As you celebrate your 25th anniversary, how do you see your future demographics?
We listen to our audience; we don't dismiss their ideas, they know what they want so we try to give it to them. We’velways tried to provide something for each age group. Are there any new types of events or initiatives you are excited about that can share with us?
GIW Beach. We started this 2 years ago in St. Pete Beach and we are trying to grow it to a large festival like Girls in Wonderland.
>> Stay tuned at pandoraevents.com or through their social media pages, @pandoraevents & @girlsinwonderland. Congratulations Pandora!

Get Carter The Box-Next-Door Gets Kinky
By Paul Hutnick
Adult film star Carter Collins may look like the guy-next-door jock type, but there's a naughty side to him that he is exploring in his latest films on KinkMen.com.
The young stud with the captivating smile and devilish twinkle in his eyes grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago near Lake Michigan. His was a typical childhood with two parents who are still happily together, three siblings (one brother and two sisters) and lots of time spent battling for supremacy on athletic playing fields.
He experienced his first kiss at 14 with his "girlfriend". He had his first gay experience three years later with his first "boyfriend".
According to Collins, if he had the chance to offer his younger self a piece of advice, it would be to embrace his kinks and to not be ashamed of them. He's making up for lost time by exploring his wild side in Jailbreak, his new film with Johnny Donovan, available this month at KinkMen.com.
How did you get your start in adult lm?
My career in film was actually provoked by my partner's mom. We were Facetiming her and she noticed a ring light in our bedroom. She said something like "I bet you guys are doing OnlyFans," which we weren't! But then we thought about it and were like "hmm, what if?". It led to our first studio experience with porn star Austin Wilde. Your real-life partner, of course, is Oliver Marks. You both seem to enjoy making lms. What I enjoy most is the camaraderie and the friends I've made. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of nasty people in the industry, too. People who couldn't care less about how they act or treat the talent, but there are so many kind and amazing individuals too. Many of whom have become my besties. What do you dislike most about the industry?
That's simple… early morning call times when I'm bottoming. Ugh!
Your recently transitioned from traditional adult lms to fetish lms. Why?
I spend a lot of time in my personal life going to dungeons and play spaces and doing really intense stuff for my own personal enjoyment so filming fetish scenes is just another day in the office for me! What has been the biggest challenge you've faced in making this transition? Honestly, the biggest challenge in making this transition is the increased level of work that goes into filming scenes like these. It can be intense when you're trying to look and feel good on camera while being annihilated. Lucky for me, I do a lot of this stuff in my free time so it's easier for me. Can you share a memorable experience or anecdote from your time working in fetish lms?
My first-time meeting and working with Van Darkholme, the master rigger on set, was memorable for me. I'd been watching his work for a really long time and it was a full circle moment to go from watching his films to being in them. It was really cool! I remember on the second day of shooting, I was tied up tight and we were in the middle of filming some pretty intense action when Van asked me how old I thought he was. I was trying to catch my breath and gather my brain cells back after being beat and I was a
little delirious. He didn't like my answer (laughs).
You lmed your new inkMen.com lm, Jailbreak, with Van Darkholme.
I did! It's a little film I did with the very sexy Johnny Donovan. Honestly, Johnny is one of the sweetest and most interactive partners I've had on set. He has got to be one of the most well-mannered guys I've ever met. Van directed and I really enjoyed being his helper in tying and tormenting Johnny. Since Johnny is so
sweet, it made it so much sexier to do bad things to him.
Is there anything you want to try in an upcoming lm that you haven't experienced yet?
I would love to do something with electro… it's one of my biggest kinks and it's not very common. I think that my doing it on film might help open more people up to exploring the kink for themselves!
What misconceptions do you think people have about fetish lms and the performers in them?
There is some talk in the industry that those who do fetish films are freaks. I find that really disheartening and odd, too, especially when the someone saying negative shit about your kinks has videos on "X" of them taking a 13-inch Brazilian dick. How does that make sense?
Have you noticed any differences in the audience or fanbase for your fetish work compared to your previous work?
My audience and fanbase has expanded from my work performing fetish scenes. It's given me the confidence to be like, "wow, okay maybe I can use my kinks to really drive my image in a different way".
What's left to do on your life's bucket list?
Buy a house, create a really wicked sex room with a lot of bondage furniture, and try cheese from all around the world! What famous person, living or dead, would you most like to have dinner with?
Beyonce! If your answer to that question isn't Beyonce, maybe it should be.
If anywhere on the planet were an option, where would you most like to live?
I think somewhere I can see myself living on the planet most would be somewhere deep in a jungle. I was an Animal Planet and Shark Week kid growing up so I was always in nature and surrounded by creatures of all kinds, so that's where I would want to be.
What advice would you give to someone considering entering the fetish lm industry? First, make sure it's something you're actually into. It helps a lot. Second, request me as your scene partner. I'll take it easy on you. (Laughs) On a serious note, though, it's really nice to work with someone observant, experienced and who you can talk to about the good and the bad that's happening. I was fortunate enough to shoot my first kink scene with Johnny Ford and not only was he so sexy, he and I knew each other prior and he walked me through the experience. He comforted me in between shots because he recognized the intensity and toll of the scenarios. It's so important to have scene partners like that!
What are your future goals?
I would say my future goals are an ever outwardly expanding thought process. I don't have one particular goal, just to live the best version of my kinky self.

Loosen Up
By Leo Harley
Are you built as a rock and stiff as a board? Never reach the floor and can't touch your toes? Are you working on your muscles but keeping them sore? You need to loosen up bro.
Looking tight is mighty fine, but feeling stiff is not cute. The goal is to exercise hard while wearing the body as if it was a comfy coat. Nice and warm, light and accessible with a feel good touch and
freedom of motion. That is how it is supposed to feel under our skin, and that is how it feels after a good post workout stretch. You gotta look after yourself, and if you're in this for the long haul, stretching should definitely be high on your list of priorities.
Tightness in the body can be cause by many things including exercise, muscle strain, sitting for too long, stress, fascia, and a list of related health conditions, but if there is one thing we
can do to prevent tightness, it is to stretch it out of our system. It is simple, you don't need any equipment for it, and it doesn't take too long; only 3 to 5 minutes of your workout can help you keep a flexible and pain free body.
It's not just about flexibility, which is definitely a bonus and crucial for overall health. It is about self care, making sure that you stay strong and safe to slay another day by preventing injuries, joint stiffness and muscle soreness. But if you're still not sold on making stretching part of your fitness, you might be interested in the fact that some studies have found that stretching can increase muscle mass and strength. True! … And this is how it works. Muscles are encased in connective tissue known as fascia. This fibrous tissue is what holds your muscles in place. However, it is also what restricts the unhindered growth of your muscles, and this is where stretching comes in. By stretching your muscles, you automatically stretch your fascia, expanding the tissue and providing your muscles more room to grow, thus vastly increasing the potential for mass increase.
So yes, stretching is a sure way toward increasing your muscle mass for more reasons than one, and with several ways to stretch, you are sure to find one that suits you best. So, to help you make up your mind, here is some of the most common types of stretching for all different purposes:
Static Stretching - Also known as isometric stretching, and refers to any full range stretch that is performed without movement, where you hold a stretch for 30 seconds or longer. This form of stretching is typically performed to improve relaxation, active range of motion, cooling down, and recovery after a workout.
Passive Stretching - Passive stretching involves holding a position with the assistance of your own body, gravity, or another external object, such as a wall, bands or bars. This is a gentle form of stretching and another great option once you've finished up a workout.
Active Stretching - This type of stretching uses your own muscles to provide resistance. Some yoga poses could be considered active stretching, another example is when a ballerina lifts their leg in the air and holds it. Definitely a great way to increase flexibility and strength, though it requires some level of experience and practice.
Dynamic Stretching - It is the idea of stretching up the muscles with active movement. Although it is sometimes confused with a warm-up, dynamic stretching is more used in athletics to help improve flexibility in specific muscles for a specific activities.
Ballistic Stretching - Ballistic stretching involves gently bouncing in and out of a stretched position past the normal range of motion for improved flexibility. If you plan on doing any sort of high-impact sport or activity, ballistic stretching is the way to go.
So… Want more flexibility, more range of motion, more mobility, freedom, longevity? Then reach for it, literally! It is within your reach to loosen up.

The Our Fund Foundation Rescues LGBTQ+ Arts &
Culture
When Florida Gov. DeSantis unceremoniously eliminated the vast majority of state grants for arts and cultural programs in July 2024, The Our Fund Foundation immediately took action. The LGBTQ community foundation created an emergency Arts & Culture Fund to help fill the financial gap and assist the impacted South Florida LGBTQ-serving arts and cultural nonprofit organizations.
“Over the span of a few weeks, we were able to mobilize our network of LGBTQ and allied philanthropists during this critical time,” said David Jobin, President and CEO of The Our Fund Foundation. “We are incredibly thankful for the generous support from our Leadership Level donors who enabled us reach our fundraising goal and help make these agencies whole again.”
Working in tandem with the effected agencies, which made substantial progress fundraising on their own behalf, The Our Fund Foundation was able to raise $151,500 in supplemental
GMCSF June 2024 Concert
revenue to counter the loss from anticipated and planned-for revenue.
The South Florida agencies include the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida, Stonewall National Museum, Archives, & Library, Island City Stage, Thinking Cap Theatre, Plays of Wilton, South Florida Pride Concert Band and ArtsUnited.
"Uplifting LGBTQ arts and culture agencies at such a dire time is another example of The Our Fund Foundation standing by the nonprofits they serve. Strong communities do not exist without strong leadership,” said Mark Kent, executive director of the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida. “For South Florida's LGBTQ+ community, The Our Fund Foundation is a leader of strength and vision. When far-reaching challenges arise, Our Fund immediately steps up to provide hope, convene decision makers, and generate funding. We are so grateful to them and their dedicated donors.”
"The results of Our Fund Foundation's fundraising efforts in this dire moment are absolutely breathtaking and incredibly impactful. As a direct result, Thinking Cap Theatre will now be able to announce its 15th season,” said Nicole Stodard PhD., producing artistic director, Thinking Cap Theatre. “The Our Fund Foundation once again proves itself to be a lifeline for
LGBTQ+ nonprofits and reaffirms the vital importance of the work we do collectively."
The Our Fund Foundation's special arts and culture fundraising initiative could not have been achieved without the generous support from Leadership level gifts ($2,500+) from the following Funds at Our Fund: The Sherzum Fund, The Russell Vance and Edward Schwartz Charitable Trust, The William Jaume Charitable Fund, Darden Family Fund, Scott L. Bennett Charitable Fund, Woodham-Ellis Charitable Trust, as well as Dick Schwarz and Tom Massey, David Stubbins and the Howard Greenfield Charitable Foundation.
“We’re privileged to work at the intersection of people who care and causes that matter,” said Jobin. “I'm proud to share that funds will soon be distributed to each agency in accordance with the amount in funding that was cut by the State.”
Additionally, The Our Fund Foundation will award $300,000 in grants during its annual Arts & Culture Fund grant ceremony scheduled for September 2024.

The show will air on September 14 on FXX.

This year's show promises to be an epic affair, with Taylor Swift leading the charge with a whopping 10 nominations, including Artist of the Year and Video of the Year for her collaboration with Post Malone on
“Fortnight.” Fans are already buzzing about the potential for a Swiftie sweep. The show will feature performances by powerhouse artists like Chappell Roan, Camila Cabello, GloRilla and Rauw Alejandro. The VMAs were rescheduled by a day to avoid clashing with the highprofile debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
The 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which honor the crème de la crème of American television, are set for September 15. The Peacock Theater in Los Angeles will host the event and ABC will broadcast it live. Hulu will stream the show the following day. “Sho?gun” is leading the pack with an impressive 25 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and “The Bear” is close behind with 23 nominations. The competition promises to be fierce.
The Golden Globe Awards will kick off the new year on January 5, 2025. Known for honoring film and television, the Globes are often seen as a prelude to the Oscars, hinting at which movies and performances might dominate the awards circuit.
The Grammys, which take place on February 2, honor the best in music. The night will be filled with unforgettable performances and surprise wins.
On February 16, the BAFTA Film Awards will celebrate the best of British cinema.
On February 22, the Spirit Awards and the NAACP Image Awards will honor independent films and contributions to Black culture in the arts, respectively. These awards are known for their unique and often groundbreaking picks.
March 2 will bring the grand finale of the awards season with the Academy Awards. Hollywood's biggest night will showcase the year's most acclaimed films and performances, with stars walking the red carpet in their most glamorous attire. The Oscars are always a highlight, with dramatic wins, gorgeous gowns and emotional speeches making headlines worldwide.
