HOTspots Happening Out is excited to announce the 25th Anniversary of Stonewall Pride Parade & Street Festival 2025. The historic 25th celebration will take place the weekend of June 13-15, 2025, in the iconic nightlife and entertainment district of Wilton Manors,

Wilton Drive. In anticipation of the celebration, tickets for the historic LGBTQ+ Parade and Street Festival event are available online now.

The Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival carry a legendary namesake after New York's Stonewall Inn, the site of the

June 1969 riots. The mere name Stonewall holds a tremendous weight of advocacy, pride and resilience. The Stonewall name is recognized as the launch of the modern queer civil rights movement not only in America but across the globe. Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival embodies that historical reference and has honored the riots with a celebration of pride and resilience for the past 25 year s.

“We are very proud of our role of helping to build the largest LGBTQ+ event in Broward County,” a passionate Jeff Sterling, CEO of HOTspots Happening Out mentioned. “It was in 2014 that we were asked by the City to help save the event from financial ruin and mismanagement, which consistently held it back from success since its inception. Back then, there were a mere 14,000 people, primarily from Broward county, in attendance.”

Since then with the partnerships of the businesses along the Drive, the City of Wilton Manors, and HOTspots

Happening Out, the event has grown to include over 50,000 attendees from throughout Florida, and nationally. Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival has generated $20 million in new economic activity for Broward County, which established the foundation for a successful event to continue into the future, an endeavor that HOTspots Happening Out is committed to.

The 25th Celebration of Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival 2025 is coupled with the prestige celebration of HOTspots Magazine's 40th Anniversary, also in 2025. The magazine that began in 1985 has documented the rich, thriving hist ory of the South Florida LGBTQ+ community. It's a double whammy of historical proportions! 25 Years of LGBTQ+ Pride married with 40 Years of archival Florida LGBQ+ History. The longstanding Associate Publisher of HOTspots Magazine and Vice President of HOTspots Happening Out, Scott Holland reminisced, “From

national and international celebrities and local South Florida heroes to major LGBTQ+ events, the covers HOTspots Magazine and the pages within have told the story of queer South Florida for decades.”

Today the diverse non-profit includes the largest social media, print and television LGBTQ+ presence in Florida with over sixty unique safe space events a year for our community including Stonewall Pride, PrideFête and Taste of the Island. HOTspots has developed an expanding community presence including Happening Out Television Network. Happening Out is pivotal to Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival success by helping to bring it to a national level with televised marketing of the parade.

The media platform is historic in its own right. Happening Out launched the first LGBTQ+ television talk show in American history, Queer News Tonight is the first and only daily evening LGBTQ+ news show in the world. They also established the first daily woman-led

program with popular South Florida personality FayWhat?! on The FayWhat?! Show along with programs for the trans community, LGBTQ+ youth, BIPOC, faith and so much more.

“HOTspots Happening Out is so unique in America,” mentioned Sunshine Cathedral's Rev Dr. Durrell Watkins.“ Our participation in Stonewall Pride 2024 was an incredible moment for so many members of Sunshine Cathedral.”

The 25th Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival Weekend will be yet another one for the books, overflowing with countless parties and exciting events on the “Iconic LGBTQ+ Strip,” Wilton Drive. The Festival will feature as many as 9 diverse entertainment stages and its highly anticipated Night Glow Parade, broadcasted nationally.

“I'm from West Hollywood [and] when I moved to South Florida Stonewall Pride became my favorite LGBTQ+ event,” the popular deejay and event host, Eric Restivo commented with excitement. “The festival, the stages, the diversity, and the love was something that helped make me feel right at home. And how can you not love a night parade down Wilton Drive. 2024 was amazing!”

Mark Your Calendar and Save the Date - Saturday, June 14, 2025 (3pm-11pm). Don't Wait, purchase your early bird tickets today at www.StonewallPride.lgbt.

Do You Even Lift?

So we continue with the 4 elements of Fitness: Eat, Lift, Sleep, Repeat - and this time we focus on the most fun part: Lift, move, workout, exercise.

Exercising regularly is one of the most effective ways to improve your health, boost your mood, and maintain a healthy weight. And it is not just about building muscle or shedding a few pounds; the benefits go far beyond physical appearance.

The more we lift, the more we increase our vital energy, that's one way to bump your vibration to a higher frequency - If you're sad, exercise; if you're moody, exercise; if you're tired, exercise! And you will feel different almost instantly, but before jumping into any exercise routine, it's essential to define what you want to achieve. Do you want to:

• Lose weight?

• Build muscle?

• Improve endurance?

• Enhance flexibility and mobility?

• Boost your overall mental and physical well-being?

Setting clear, realistic goals will help you stay motivated and focused. For instance, if

your goal is weight loss, your workout routine may emphasize cardio. If you're building muscle, strength training should take priority.

1. Cardiovascular Endurance

Cardiovascular or aerobic exercise strengthens your heart and lungs, improving the efficiency with which your body delivers oxygen to its tissues. This includes running, cycling, swimming, or brisk walking. Cardio improves heart health, burns calories, enhances stamina and has been linked to a decreased risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week

2. Strength Training

Strength or resistance training builds muscle mass, enhances bone density, and improves metabolism. Incorporating weightlifting, resistance bands, or bodyweight exercises like squats and push-ups into your routine can help increase strength. Strong muscles also improve posture, reduce the risk of injury, and make

daily activities easier. Beginners should aim for 2-3 sessions per week, focusing on major muscle groups.

3. Flexibility

Flexibility is often overlooked in fitness routines, but it's essential for maintaining a full range of motion in your joints and preventing stiffness or injury. Stretching exercises, yoga, and Pilates are excellent ways to improve flexibility, allowing muscles to lengthen and loosen. This not only aids in recovery after workouts but also enhances physical performance and posture. Incorporate 10-15 minutes of stretching into your routine, especially after workouts.

4. Balance and Coordination

Balance and coordination are important for maintaining stability, especially as we age. Exercises that challenge your balance, such as standing on one leg, practicing yoga poses, or using balance balls, can improve neuromuscular control and prevent falls. Include balance exercises at least twice a week.

5. Mental Fitness

Fitness is not just about the body; mental well-being plays a significant role in overall health. Regular physical activity reduces symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress. It releases endorphins, also known as "feel-good" hormones, which can boost your mood and create a sense of well-being. Mindful practices like meditation, deep breathing, and even yoga can enhance mental clarity and resilience. When you begin exercising, it's easy to get over-enthusiastic and push yourself too hard, leading to burnout or injury. Instead, start slow, especially if you're new to working out or coming back after a long break.

For beginners: Start with 15-30 minutes of exercise 3-4 times a week. As your fitness improves, increase the intensity, duration, and frequency of your workouts. Listen to your body: While muscle soreness is normal, sharp or lingering pain is not. Rest and recovery are essential parts of any fitness regimen.

Doing the same workout every day can become monotonous, and it may also lead to a plateau in your progress. Mixing up your routine keeps things interesting and helps you target different muscle groups. Try combining:

• High-intensity interval training (HIIT): Short bursts of intense activity followed by rest periods. HIIT is efficient and can be done with cardio or strength exercises.

• Different workout styles: Experiment with swimming, hiking, group fitness classes, or sports like basketball or tennis to add variety.

• Exercise is not a one-size-fits-all journey; it's about finding what works best for your body and lifestyle. By focusing on a balanced approach that includes cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, and mental well-being, you can create a fitness routine that enhances not only your hot body but also your mental and emotional well-being. Stay patient, consistent, and open to new challenges, and you'll find yourself on the path to a healthier, happier life.

I hope this information has been useful to everyone, and please feel free to reach out via email at: hotbodies@ hotspotsmagazine.com if you have any questions or suggestions to be discussed. That's all for now, but next time we will lean in about the importance of sleep and recovery to optimize your progress and retain your hard-earned gains. Don't miss it!
