“After the most romantic proposal on the sunlit Hudson River promenade, I can definitely say dreams do come true in New York. We quickly began wedding planning and it was love at first sight when we found our venue, Fasque Castle! It truly fit our vision of something grand and traditionally Scottish; somewhere our nearest and dearest could come together for a weekend of celebrating our love. While we did postpone twice and left behind our dream summer nuptials, we couldn’t have been happier when we finally tied the knot on 16 October 2021. Date changes meant we sadly lost many of our original suppliers but thankfully we got to keep our fantastic band and, of course, the castle!
As the venue was so beautiful, emphasising this was important to me and my wedding planner. Pinterest was a huge help and the key words for my vision were: ‘warm’, ‘magical’ and ‘like something out of a fairytale’. We went for exquisite details, like champagne silk table linen, gold cutlery and our own customised scent, and we used our fairytale castle on all the stationery. There was a plethora of flora, with beautiful flower displays and a gorgeous arch. I was over the moon with how it all came together. Despite having modelled wedding dresses for more than a decade (I was on the Your Wedding Exhibition catwalk for 10 years and also featured on these very pages in a wedding dress!) I felt like a queen during the dress shopping experience and finding ‘The One’ was a total wow moment.
It became even more exciting when we added the Spanish-style lace veil and the dazzling tiara. Jimmy Choo shoes gifted from Ben were the perfect finishing touch for walking the most important catwalk of my life… Down the aisle! The wedding weekend began with a casual dinner on the Friday – perfect for our guests to get to know one another. In the morning, special moments were shared in the powder room getting ready and later, during the church ceremony, even more heartfelt moments were felt. We had emotional readings and meaningful music. It was truly something we’ll remember forever. After drinks in the sun, we moved on to dinner and speeches. And, as we sat and looked at our guests with music in the background, we had a real ‘we made it’ moment. After four years and two postponements, we’d planned to perfection and realised the stress was all worth it. Like something out of a story, our special day was truly magical.” ♥
