Ringing Jewellery in the New Year
Jewellers and couples alike have outdone themselves this past year. They have kept us guessing with truly unique designs and amazed us by reinventing traditional styles and blending the old with the new. So, we’ve been on the hunt for the statement-making wedding ring trends you’re going to love in 2023. Here are some of our favourites…

Today’s couples are striving to break old traditions and create new ones when it comes to weddings. You’re constantly thinking outside of the box, whether it's about your wedding attire, the event accessories, or the day itself – you’re always setting new standards within the industry! Jewellery has often been quite consistent in its trends, so it is lovely to see that ’engagement ring trends 2023’ is one of the most searched phrases on Google as both couples and www.elitephotographics.co.uk jewellers pave the way for new and exciting jewellery options. Every couple needs rings that they can proudly say are an expression not only of their love but of themselves as well. Engagement rings and wedding bands are a symbol of love, promise, and commitment – picking out the perfect one is a serious task! Especially as this could be a piece of jewellery that the bride(s) or groom(s) may wear for decades to come and eventually pass on to the next generation. Hopefully, these trends help you find inspiration for your own rings! www.deesidephoto.co.uk
Vintage moment
Vintage detailing and old-school cuts are resurfacing, and it's no surprise that this style pairs beautifully with some of the more nostalgic bridal trends set to be big this coming year. The perfect option for those with a deep love of historic fashion!
Old Milne and old European cuts are rare to come by but they make for the perfect statement piece. Modern alternatives to this are the cushion and round cuts – pair these with milgrain settings. Often described as ‘tiny dots’ along the edges of a piece of jewellery, milgrain is a design technique in which small beads of metal are used to create borders, and these styles capture that antique feel just as well as their timely counterparts.

Grooms are opting for the classic plain gold or silver metal bands that many saw their fathers wearing as they grew up. It’s a timeless option and a touching gesture to those who raised them.
Modern stacks
Interlinking bridal sets of two or stacks of three (common for those who may already have a promise ring, or for couples who wish to do a vow renewal in the future) are popular amongst more modern couples. They showcase a variety of styles perfectly whilst remaining classy and elegant. Micro paving is a popular setting for this style, as the bands on either side draw attention to the gemstone in the centre ring. Will you stick with the simplistic style and have the wedding band match the engagement ring? Or opt for something with a bit more personality so that each ring stands out?

Halo rings (a diamond ring design where the centre stone is surrounded by smaller diamonds or gemstones) have become a popular combination for this trend as the rings on either side, which are often also embellished in diamonds, really draw attention to the main gem. A sure-fire way to make people take notice!
Coloured gemstones
Coloured gemstones are still in the minority, but we’ve seen a lot more this year and expect to see them rise in popularity for the upcoming wedding season. Fewer couples are sticking with the traditional options and more are keen to express themselves with all shades of the rainbow!
There's no option too outrageous, from sapphires to rubies, amethysts, diamonds, and emeralds. Couples have rejected the norm and chosen to be bold with their wedding bands… Will you be joining them? Grooms opting for a more colourful band are experimenting with different metal textures and bright inlays. Engraved detailing can also bring a ring to life, as can injecting a creative element – think herringbone designs, wooden inlays, braided rings, cracked earth details, and even square rings.
P.S. Take a look at these other jewellery-related trends we’ve come across for 2023:
• Many couples became extremely close to their four-legged friends during the lockdowns. It’s no wonder that nearly twothirds of dog owners want to include them in their big day now. Doggie ring bearers is an idea that we are all for, and with many celebs including their pooches on their special day the trend has continued to gain traction! Stacey Solomon involved her dogs Peanut and Teddy in her wedding to Joe Swash, and they even had their own suits!
• The most popular times of year for proposing based on engagement ring sales appear to be December, April,
July, and October. Surprisingly,
February has the least amount of ring sales… Have
Valentine’s proposals become too predictable? ♥
