Library hosts ‘Touch-a-Truck’ and… ‘Touch-a-Helicopter’ This Wednesday is Howe Hump Day—the seventh event of such in 2023. This month’s networking breakfast is hosted by Brother Plumbers of Howe. False report leads to arrest for insurance fraud On June 7, 47-year-old Shaun Worley of Celeste turned himself in to the Grayson County Jail on charges of Insurance Fraud. In early March, Worley reported that he left his red 2017 Dodge Ram truck on the service road of U.S. Highway 75 in Howe after getting a flat tire and when he returned the next morning, the truck was gone. He reported the truck as stolen to his insurance company and the Howe Police Department.
Tip jar thieves nabbed within minutes of crime Howe Police Officers Brandon Ozuna and Kolby Windon responded to the reported theft of a tip jar from a local restaurant on Monday, June 19. The officers located the two 17-year-old suspects, both of Tom Bean, within minutes and both confessed to the crime. The suspects were still in possession of the tip jar and its contents.
Summit Gardens gets porch railing repair
A rebuild of the porch railings at Summit Gardens was completed Friday afternoon by Israel Sanchez and his Howe-based construction company. The small porch on the southside of the building was also renovated. The funds for the project came from the rental income. There are still a few small projects remaining.

The Howe Athletic Booster Club will host the annual Howe Bulldogs Community Pep Rally August 19 at Bulldog Stadium under the lights with a 7:30 pm kickoff.

Both last year’s and the 2021 edition were 92 pages each and are filled with not only rosters and schedules, but with stories, stats, and photos of all fall sports teams. The ad rates have not changed from a year ago. Businesses that want to place an ad in the program have several options. A full-page ad comes with a ban-
ner hung at the stadium and is moved to the high school gymnasium after the season. Full-page ads with a banner are $475. Half-page ads are $200, Quarter page ads are $150 and 1/8-page ads are $75. Arthur Earl Edwards, Jr of Howe, Texas lost his battle with ALS on Saturday afternoon June 24, 2023. He was born on May 11, 1946 in Lincoln, NE to Arthur Earl Edwards, Sr and Sarah Sullivan Edwards. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army, where he served for more than 25 years. He was also a retired truck driver. Jr married Weda Recer in Allen, Texas on February 1, 1971. He was dad to 4 daughters and 1 son. Papa to 10 grandchildren and Pop pop to several great grandchildren. He is survived by daughter Misty Chilcoat (Mike) of Richmond, Rhode Island, daughter Sheril Moody (Larry) of Marco Island, Florida, daughter Tammy Harris (Keith) of Howe, Texas, son Ronney Williams (Julia) of Missouri. He is also survived by daughter of choice Keri Askew (Robert) of Nevada, Texas. Grandchildren, Kyndall (Jeremy), Tyler (Hannah), Rylee, Hudson, Kris (Megan), Mike, Micah, Jessica, Kryste, and Greg. Grayson County Republicans’resolution condemning impeachment ofAttorney General falls short, Bush Republicans prevail Recently, the Collin County Republican Party passed a resolution condemning the impeachment of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the Texas House of Representatives. Thursday night in the Assembly Room at the Grayson County Courthouse, a similar resolution was put to the committee chairs. However, the result was not the same as in Collin County and the resolution was denied by a vote of 14-11. Members of the Texas House May 27 voted 121-23 to send articles of impeachment to the Senate. Paxton has been accused of 20 acts of wrongdoing including bribery, abuse of official capacity, conspiracy, retaliation, misuse of information and other charges. Paxton has been in crosshairs with the ‘Never-Trumpers’ since December 2020 when he filed suit in battleground states over unconstitutional changes to the 2020 election laws. Since then, he’s been in the scopes of not only Democrats, but also “Bush Republicans” or some to refer to them as RINOs (Republicans in name only). Paxton’s 2020 remarks were, “Trust in the integrity of our election processes is sacrosanct and binds our citizenry and the States in this Union together. Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin destroyed that trust and
compromised the security and integrity of the 2020 election. The states violated statutes enacted by their duly elected legislatures, thereby violating the Constitution. By ignoring both state and federal law, these states have not only tainted the integrity of their own citizens’ vote, but of Texas and every other state that held lawful elections,” said Attorney General Paxton in the 2020 lawsuit. “Their failure to abide by the rule of law casts a dark shadow of doubt over the outcome of the entire election. We now ask that the Supreme Court step in to correct this egregious error.” Recently, all five Republican Representatives from Collin County, Paxton’s home base, voted to impeach Paxton. Those include Frederick Frazier of McKinney, Jeff Leach of Plano, Matt Shaheen of Plano, Justin Holland of Rockwall and Candy Noble of Lucas revealing the great divide within the GOP. Republican Precinct 207 Chair Sandra Lawson spoke in favor of the resolution while former US Attorney Joe Brown, Republican and Precinct 310 chair spoke in opposition. Paxton and Texas Republican voters Whereas Texas Attorney General Warren Kenneth Paxton, Jr. was impeached by the Texas House of Representatives on May 27, 2023, after a report was issued by the House General Investigating Committee (GIC) containing 20 articles of impeachment. The GIC submission, which consisted solely of a transcript of the GIC hearing, was considered by the House for approximately 48 hours before the impeachment vote was called and taken; and Whereas, no testimony was taken in the House, and General Paxton was not allowed to speak to the House or offer any rebuttal evidence or testimony although he offered to do so and was refused; and Whereas, the impeachment of General Paxton failed to comply with applicable law and historical precedent, to wit: 1. The GIC admitted that none of the witnesses who provided information to the committee were placed under oath before giving their statements as required by Texas Government Code §301.022; 2. The GIC included in their consideration, and included in the articles of impeachment alleged conduct that took place before the date when General Paxton was elected and took office in his current term, and such conduct may not serve to support removal of a state officer in accordance with Texas Government Code §665.081, and thus should not have been part of the impeachment process in accordance with Texas Supreme Court precedent found in Reeves v. State, 267 S.W. 666 (Tex. 1924); 3. The GIC and the House or Representatives failed to give General Paxton notice of the GIC hearing, did not allow General Paxton or his office to appear, did not afford General Paxton the opportunity to present evidence in his defense, including the right to cross examine witnesses against him in the spirit of the U.S. Constitution Amendments V and VI and the precedent established by the Texas House of Representatives in the 1975-76 Carrillo impeachment proceeding; and

Whereas, Due Process and the Rule of Law are the very foundation of our republic and necessary to the proper functioning of a free society, without adherence to which we become nothing more than a banana republic; and Whereas, it is the sincere desire of the Grayson County Republican Party that the State of Texas not become a banana republic; and Whereas, the articles of impeachment are unsupported by competent and admissible evidence and are an affront to the presumption of innocence; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Grayson County Republican Party CONDEMNS the process by which the Texas House of Representatives impeached General Paxton and hereby IMPLORES Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and members of the Texas Senate to uphold Constitutionally guaranteed due process, fairness, precedent, and the rule of law by rendering judgement as a matter of law in the Texas Senate on the grounds that the House of Representatives failed to satisfy due process, to comply with applicable Texas law, and to adhere to precedent; that the articles of impeachment be dismissed with prejudice; and that Ken Paxton be allowed to promptly resume his duties as the duly elected Attorney General. Lawson opened with her remarks stating that no one should be impeached the way Ken Paxton was impeached in the House of Representatives. She then quoted from John Smithee, the senior Republican Representative in the Texas House with 40 years of service. “Impeachment is such a serious and somber event that it has always been held to the highest standards of integrity, the rule of law and due process,” she said later giving the three following reasons. • Consequences - Voting to impeach

“Rules in this case were made up as they went,” said Lawson. “Previous impeachments have required public access and knowledge of the proceedings. That didn’t happen in this case. It was done on a holiday weekend with 48 hours’ notice with no participation or involvement by the public.” She further said that the accused previously had the right to be represented by counsel during the proceedings and the right to cross examine. General Paxton was not afforded that because no witnesses were examined. “No one was put under oath. Most people tell the truth when under oath because they are subject to perjury. Not the investigators, not the hearsay accusers. No one was put under oath,” said Lawson. “So, what the House had were just accusations, not testimony and certainly not evidence.” Texas Senator Ted Cruz called the attempt a “travesty” and calling Paxton the strongest conservative AG in the country. President Donald Trump commented on the impeachment of Paxton saying that one would think any issue would have been fully adjudicated by the voters of Texas, especially when that vote was so conclusive. Trump endorsed Paxton over George P. Bush, grandson and nephew of two former presidents.
“Impeachment is not a trial. Impeachment is the method of bringing a charge under the Texas Constitution, much like the filing of an indictment by a grand jury,” said Brown who went on to say that Paxton would have the opportunity to testify and present his defense. Joy Roberts, Precinct Chair 104 and founding member of the Grayson County Conservatives gave remarks in favor of the resolution responding to Brown’s statement. “He claims that the forgiveness doctrine only applies to the first time someone is elected to office. Respectfully, the Texas Supreme Court disagrees with your assessment, and it was addressed in the Corillo case, from the last election.” Michelle Smith of Paxton’s office was present to give her remarks on the matter in regard to Section 665.081 which is the ‘No Removal for Acts Committed Before Election to Office.’ “An officer in this state may not be removed from office for an act the officer may have committed before the officer’s election to office.” She made her argument stating that Paxton had $41 million in negative attack ads from George P. Bush and others and was elected by 4.5 million voters.
“Hopefully Republicans in the Texas House will agree that this is a very unfair process that should not be allowed to happen or proceed—I will fight you if it does,” said President Trump.
“These investigators, the first of which, Erin Epley, was hired by the committee, left the DOJ in March of 2023 and literally was hired in March 2023 to the general investigating committee.”
Brown, appointed by President Trump as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas in 2018, resigned in May 2020 after alluding to an opioid abuse issue which involved Walmart and a denial of prosecution by AG Rod Rosenstein’s Department of Justice.
In a written statement, Smith said, “What I have learned tonight about this house “Special investigators” links directly back to Biden and Merrick Garland. Our Texas House hired investigators that directly worked under Merrick Garland and the Biden Administration. That’s not a conflict of interest to anyone? Erin Epley (Chief Committee Counsel) just left this year from the US Attorney General’s office to come prosecute Ken Paxton. Mark Donnelly left last year. The Harris County DA’s office, you mean the one funded by George Soros? Let’s not forget Hugh Brady who’s is the House parliamentarian who stands next to (Speaker) Phelan and was a lawyer for Obama.”
Brown said it is not the role of a local legislative executive committee to legislate, to investigate, or as a body to attempt to second-guess and publicly criticize the Republican legislature we elected to carry out the same functions. Brown continued to say that the proposed resolution was factually and legally wrong in stating that the witnesses were not sworn in during the general investigating committee. “This is because no fact witnesses ever testified before the committee,” said Brown. “The committee hired lawyers to conduct the investigation and those lawyers interviewed witnesses outside of the committee meeting process. Only lawyers testified before the general investigative committee. Lawyers are officers of the court and are not typically sworn in to testify because they are ethically bound as attorneys as fiduciaries to the court or the tribunals
After a hand tally vote by precinct chairs, the resolution failed. Grayson County is one of the few counties that have. Collin County, Franklin County, and several others approved. Even the Texas GOP has supported the resolution condemning the impeachment. Chalk this battle up for the old guard Bush Republicans. However, not long ago, the Tea Party Conservatives would have likely been outvoted 21-4. The populists are narrowing the gap.

Texas History Minute For years, he was considered to be the most trusted man in America. Texan Walter Cronkite became the face of the Ken Bridges news for millions of Americans as television news began to make its appearance and to make an impact on the nation’s consciousness. As one of the most well-known journalists in the nation, Cronkite helped guide television viewers through the some of the most important news events of the 1960s and 1970s. Cronkite was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1916. His father was a dentist. He was interested in the news at an early age. While the family lived in Kansas City for a time, he had a job delivering newspapers. The family moved to Houston in 1926 where Cronkite had an active childhood with school and as a member of the Boy Scouts. His interest in journalism expanded while at San Jacinto High School when he became editor of the school newspaper. In 1933, he enrolled at the University of Texas. He was very active at The Daily Texan, the university’s own newspaper. At the same time, he also wrote part-time with The Houston Post. In 1935, he left UT to take a fulltime job writing for a wire service and for the now-defunct Houston Press. Shortly afterward, he became a radio announcer in Kansas City; and by 1937, he landed a job with the United Press wire service. During World War II, he reported Nazi air raids over London, Allied invasions, and the progress of troops on the ground. After the war, he covered the Nuremberg war crimes trials. In 1950, famed journalist Edward R. Murrow convinced him to work for CBS News. On April 9, 1962, Cronkite became the anchor for the 15-minute nightly news report by CBS, called simply Walter Cronkite with the News. In September 1963, the newscast was expanded to 30 minutes, the first to do so, and was rechristened the CBS Evening News. Cronkite marked the occasion with an

interview with President John F. Kennedy on the broadcast. The nation grew to enjoy Cronkite’s distinctive voice and broadcast style as he signed off each night’s broadcast by declaring, “And that’s the way it is.” He covered many tragedies. He later recalled how difficult it was to maintain his composure when reporting the death of President Kennedy in 1963. However, he was criticized for a 1968 report in which he stated that the U. S. should end the war in Vietnam. Many advances in technology came during Cronkite’s tenure. In 1965, the CBS Evening News first broadcast in color, a move that became permanent in 1966. By the late 1960s, live interviews and reports from across the globe were broadcast by satellite. He was known for his attention to detail and his intense curiosity. He was widely respected by his colleagues and became a mentor of sorts for two other rising journalists and fellow Texans at CBS News, Dan Rather and Bob Schieffer. He was overwhelmed by the developments in the American space program and excitedly reported the achievements of the space program and the Apollo moon landings. In appreciation for his support, NASA gave Cronkite a moon rock sample, which he in turn donated to the University of Texas. In 1980, he announced he was stepping down as anchor of the CBS Evening News as CBS had a mandatory retirement age of 65 at that time. His final broadcast was in March 1981. Though 65, Cronkite was far from ready to retire. Over the next two decades, he continued to host documentaries and programs for CBS and other networks. He wrote voraciously on current events with a nationallysyndicated column. He was an outspoken supporter of civil liberties issues as well as press freedom issues. In 1997, he published his autobiography, A Reporter’s Life. Cronkite died in 2009 at age 92, celebrated across the nation for his achievements in journalism as a respected voice for unfolding world events.
Being informed is not a substitute for truth All levels of government and its ally, the mainstream media, are regularly accused of dishonesty. Many of these falsehoods are Dr. Billy Holland ignored or quickly forgotten by a public that has become numb to a relentless barrage of deception. Distorting truth is nothing new, as compromise has always been the foundation of politics. Have you ever listened to a press secretary answer questions? Even in the world of fact-checking, news stories are severely infected with bias, and yet strangely, the masses are still eager to absorb them. The average person admits they want to be informed about current events, but has gathering information become just another form of entertainment, or even worse, is this causing the masses to be brainwashed? A culture represents the beliefs and practices of a group, while a society represents the people who share those beliefs and practices. God’s people are called to follow His voice, not the world’s system. Read Romans 12:1-2. For years, the tobacco industry assured customers that cigarettes were neither unhealthy nor addictive. In 1994, James W. Johnston, CEO of R.J. Reynolds, told a congressional committee, “Cigarette smoking is no more ‘addictive’ than coffee, tea, or Twinkies.” The reality, of course, is quite different. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 480,000 Americans die every year from smoking. In the Tuskegee experimental syphilis study, between 1932 and 1972, the U.S. healthcare system wanted to study venereal diseases, so our government intentionally allowed the disease to run its course in some patients causing many African Americans to go blind, insane, and die. And we should feel confident to trust big Pharma and the food industry with our lives today? Are there secret plans to depopulate the planet, where is artificial intelligence taking us, and is the UFO phenomena true? In 1964, Americans were concerned about the country’s growing involvement in Vietnam, and in October of that year, Johnson assured the country as he was running for president, we had nothing to worry about. In 1971 the Pentagon Papers revealed the extent of the deception as the war claimed 58,000 military personnel, which Nixon nor Johnson took responsibility for. Nixon also promised that no one from the
White House staff was involved in Watergate. Then we had Bill Clinton boldly declare that he did not have sexual relations with that woman. In the aftermath of 9/11, George W. Bush promised the American people there were weapons of mass destruction and that by attacking Iraq, we could rescue our country and the world. What was the result? No weapons were found, and thousands of U.S. troops and contractors were killed in this war. Did you know the Federal Reserve is not owned or operated by the U.S. Government? It’s completely independent and yet has its name on our currency. In 2008, Obama said marriage was between a man and a woman. Do politicians say what voters want to hear? When Hillary Clinton accused Trump of colluding with Russia to help influence his election, we now know the entire story was completely fabricated. Of course, the mainstream media embraced every word of this lie. Why? Political control. Those who disagree with what is established as socially correct are now silenced by the cancel culture. This public persecution also applies to those who know the truth about the virus and the vaccine. The First Amendment is being ignored as these individuals are labeled as terrorists and guilty of spreading misinformation. Communism is a political and economic ideology that positions itself in opposition to liberal democracy and capitalism. So, why talk about widespread deception? It’s time to wake up and realize we are in a deadly spiritual war, (see John 10:10). Satan is the father of all lies, and his agenda to deceive is advancing. If we do not love others enough to warn them, we are bowing down to intimidation and despair. According to general Biblical interpretations, the antiChrist is coming and will eventually rule the world. Like all dictators, he will demand our worship. When will this happen? The New World Order and the Great Reset are steps toward tribulation, but this does not mean we are without hope. Jesus Christ is our eternal hope, and our heavenly Father will always be in control and seated on His throne. Remain focused on Jesus by reading and meditating on God’s word. Invest your time wisely and beware of confusing distractions. Pray for more wisdom, discernment, love, and understanding, as being informed is not the same as knowing what is true. By Greg Piper The disputed 2020 election now appears in the rearview mirror for YouTube, which is now determining what users can see relevant to the next election. The Alphabet-owned, video-sharing site and Google sibling has censored at least two videos, and may be throttling a third, featuring Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shortly after ending a two-and-a-halfyear ban on questioning the "integrity" of the last presidential election, saying it accomplished little relative to the potential harm it caused. Leading Democrats who insist they are "firm believers in the First Amendment" aren't pleased with YouTube simply switching which election it will target for censorship. The ranking members on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and its subcommittees told YouTube last week that the "integrity" ban reversal "threatens to weaken our democracy" by subjecting the 2024 campaign to "several of the same misinformation tactics," such as former President Trump's claims in a campaign stop in Waco, Texas. The censorship of a scion of America's best-known political family is even more striking given the possibility that Democrats sour on incumbent President Joe Biden. Amid polling that shows potential voters disapproving on Biden's effort on the economy, immigration and other key issues, they've also raised concerns about his mental acuity, which White House aides says is not an issue. Still, the 80-year-old president mixed up Iraq with Ukraine and initially referred to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "my new best friend, the prime minister of China" — India's geopolitical foe — at a fundraiser and White House event less than a day apart, Bloomberg News reporter Nancy Cook noted Wednesday morning.
"In the current environment, we find that while removing this content does curb some misinformation" about "widespread fraud, errors, or glitches" that might have swung the election to Biden instead of President Trump, "it could also have the unintended effect of curtailing political speech without meaningfully reducing the risk of violence or other real-world harm," YouTube wrote. The company did not have similar qualms, however, about taking down psychologist Jordan Peterson's podcast interview with Kennedy for "general vaccine misinformation" on June 18, nearly two weeks after it was posted. It's still available on Spotify. Without specifying what content it found false, a spokesperson included a highly specific section of its policy in a statement to Fox News: "content that falsely says that approved vaccines cause autism, cancer or infertility, or that substances in vaccines can track those who receive them." The Peterson video removal earned YouTube no credit with Reps. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.), Jan Schakowsky (DIll.), Doris Matsui (D-Calif.) and Kathy Castor (D-Fla.), who shared their "deep disappointment" over the election misinformation policy change in a June 22 letter to Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and YouTube CEO Neal Mohan. The House Energy and Commerce Committee Democrats challenged YouTube's claim that open debate on political ideas, "even those that are controversial or based on disproven assumptions, is core to a functioning democratic society–especially in the midst of election season." They demanded YouTube "provide a detailed explanation" how purported 2020 misinformation does not violate its remaining policies on "previously removed content" or general election misinformation, especially through its potential to suppress voter turnout. YouTube's June 2 statement said "false claims that could materially discourage voting" were still banned.
Days earlier Biden apparently confused the American and Indian national anthems during Modi's state visit, putting his hand on his heart for the latter.
Democrats also seek YouTube's plans to "fact check, label, provide context around, or reduce the spread of such content on its platform," any "new policies or tools" for 2024 it hasn't publicized, and how it will handle 2024 misinformation that includes 2020 misinformation.
YouTube announced June 2 it had a change in policy on purported misinformation about the 2020 election, under which it removed "tens of thousands" of videos since December 2020.
Kennedy said Sunday that supporters who tried to "rebroadcast" his June 20 "Peace and Diplomacy" speech on their channels were sending him screenshots of YouTube warnings that (Continue here…)
by Rachel Schilke, Breaking News Reporter, Washington Examiner House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said he believes President Joe Biden and his family received millions of dollars as part of the "alleged criminal scheme" that the House GOP is investigating. Comer said Thursday during a Fox & Friends appearance that bank records indicate nine Biden family members were involved in a scheme of "creating policy for money," receiving over $20 million from foreign sources. When asked to elaborate on what policies, he said, "We're going to get into that," citing changes that the president made to energy policy and investigations into China. When asked whether he thought the president was "compromised," Comer said, "Absolutely." "He's compromised because he's taken so much money from China. When you go in and you end the China initiative ... they ended that because they said it was racial profiling. That was discrimination," Comer said. "But the university presidents, even the most liberal ones, wanted that. They ended that. That's an example of a policy decision." The House Oversight Committee has identified six policy decisions that they claim were influenced by Biden's connection to foreign groups. The president has denied any involvement in foreign business dealings. Comer said the committee is going to continue bringing people in for depositions.
"All the people that were on the inside of these so-called business deals, they're going to be able to tell exactly what the Bidens did in exchange for this money," Comer said. "They're going to tell what Joe Biden knew and how involved Joe Biden was in the family schemes, and I think that's the most important thing that will come out of the depositions." The committee chairman said both IRS and FBI whistleblowers claim the Justice Department told them to "stand down" and not go poking around the "big guy," a nickname reportedly given to Biden by the Ukrainian oligarch who owned Burisma. "We have FBI whistleblowers that Sen. [Chuck] Grassley (R-IA) and I have worked with that said that they were told to stand down on this investigation of Biden bribery," Comer said. "We have a situation here where our federal government has been involved in a cover-up. It's generated by the Department of Justice, and it continues with the Hunter Biden plea deal," Comer added. The younger Biden agreed to plead guilty to two federal tax charges and struck a deal to resolve a felony gun possession charge last week. Comer, like many Republicans, called the plea deal unacceptable. Gary Shapley, a current IRS agent and whistleblower, estimated that Hunter Biden received $8.3 million from three foreign firms. However, Comer said that based on "all the money that the Bidens took in" from Burisma, a Ukrainian company that employed Hunter Biden, the amount received by Hunter Biden is likely to "exceed $20 million." "This is a slap in the face of every American who works hard and pays taxes and believes in our system of justice," Comer added.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.
