Volume 61, Edition 52, Monday, May 6, 2024 The Howe Hall of Honor is always one of the most special events of the entire year. This year was no different. Jim Fryar being back in Howe was pretty special as he and his wife Connie cultivated a community that bonded through a really good football program. I’ve always said that the best community developer is a dang good head football coach. But playing for Fryar and those that he hired to coach us in middle school, there’s one thing that stands out that is different when swapping war stories with other former players from other towns. In all the time I was coached in the Jim Fryar/Joey McQueen era, not once did I hear either of them or any of their coaches cuss or swear at any player or at any time in general. In the movies, and in common culture, it is believed that coaches dog-cuss their players to “train” them to do what they want them to do. My experience was just the opposite. Our coaches, while being strict and highly disciplinarians, also loved us and even told us that. It was tough love many times, but love it certainly was. Coach Fryar and the Dogs’ success in 1985 certainly changed the trajectory of my life. If it weren’t for that season, I could be the owner of a publication in some other town. Howe Bout Them Dogs! On Friday morning, the Howe Area Chamber of Commerce announced that due to impending weather, the 38th Annual Founders Day Festival would be postponed until June 15, 2024. At the time of the announcement, the weather forecast showed rain during the event and thunderstorms soon afterwards. However, the weather on Saturday was overcast

and would have been fine for the festival. On June 15, Howe will continue with all events such as the hot dog eating contest by Don’s Smokehouse along with the dunk tank by HIT Roof & Exteriors, the kid train, and turkey legs, and sausage-on-astick. June 15 will be a rain or shine event.

City elections (Continued from page 1)

Jessica Bjorn became the odd man out as she accumulated 61 total votes (35 in early voting and 22 on election day). Current Councilmen Joe Shephard and Rodney Hough decided not to run for election which means Tyler and Price will take their seats while Myrick will retain her seat which she was initially appointed to in 2022. Tyler made the following statement about why he wanted to run for city council, “ After careful consideration over the past couple of years, I was prompted to contemplate running for city council due to several observations regarding the state of our infrastructure, or rather, its deficiency. Additionally, the grievances expressed by my neighbors concerning the high property taxes and utilities, coupled with a perceived absence of tangible growth within our town, served as further motivation. However, the confirmation came from a friend's invitation to consider running for office.”

Each of the elected candidates felt in 5 -10 years that Howe will be possibly unrecognizable from what it is today due to the impending growth coming from both directions of Collin County and Sherman-Denison. Shephard, originally the city administrator of Howe from 2009-2021, ran unopposed and grabbed a city council seat in 2022. Hough ran for city council a year ago but fell short in the voting behind Billie Ingram and Michael Hill. But Hough was appointed to replace the vacant seat of Brett Bearden last May.

Price said he was motivated by his unwavering commitment to accountability, honesty, and transparency, which he believes are vital for effective governance.

The other main item on the ballot for Howe voters was District Proposition A for Grayson County Jr. College (now known as Grayson College). The proposition was approved with 5,753 voting in favor while 4,016 were opposed.

“If elected, I'll lead by example and prioritize these principles in all aspects of my role,” said Price in a questionnaire.

The new council members for Howe are slated to be sworn in on May 21 at the regular City Council meeting.

Jimmy Huckaby, 1940-2024 Operation Christmas Child Jimmy Keith Huckaby passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May 1, 2024, at Medical City Hospital in Plano. He went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 83 years old. Jim was born near Pauls Valley in Garvin County Oklahoma on June 23, 1940. Proceeding Jim in his death are his parents Leslie and Thelma Huckaby, brother Dale Huckaby, sister Nancy Seawell, son Steve Huckaby, and great-grandson Knox Floyd. Jim is survived by his wife, Dot Burchfield Huckaby, sister Sandy Cestarte (Paul) Howe, son Chris Huckaby (Alyson) Carrollton, daughter Wendy Blaine (Kevin) The Colony, son Brian Christopher (Jennifer) Gunter, and daughter Kim Vogel (Dieter) Van Alstyne, 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and one baby Huckaby on the way. Jim graduated from Irving High School in 1958 before entering the United States Air Force. Jim was honorably discharged in 1962 in order to return home to help support his mother and younger siblings after the death of his father. Jim began his career at Texas Instruments in 1964 as a manufacturing engineering technician. TI is where he later met the love of his life Dot in 1977. Jim and Dot wed and blended their families on May 6, 1978, and enjoyed 46 years of joyous marriage. Jim enjoyed his career for over 37 years until his retirement from Raytheon in 2000. Jim enjoyed several hobbies such as scuba diving and photography. After retirement, he took on many new challenges including painting, guitar, and refurbishing old pocket watches. Jim was an active member of the Howe community serving on the Planning and Zoning Board before being elected to the Howe City Council where he served for over 10 years before building a new home in Luella, TX. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church of Howe for over 46 years where he enjoyed being a part of Harold Finney’s men’s bible study group, who he lovingly referred to as the “salty dogs.” Jim and Dot enjoyed their time in a monthly couple’s bible study started by Bill and Bonnie Smith where they enjoyed fellowship, dinner, and dessert with some of their closest

During retirement, Jim enjoyed serving others through his church, working part-time at LifeWay Christian Bookstore, and loved volunteering at Perrin Air Force Base Historical Museum. Jim also enjoyed spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren, and taking care of his beautiful lawn. But the most precious thing Jim had on this earth was his wife Dot, who he loved deeply for over 46 years. Jim’s life was a reflection of Christ’s love. He was a kind gentleman who loved serving others and led by example with his deeds, not his words. He loved his Lord, his family, and his friends. They will deeply miss his sweet presence on this earth until they are reunited with him in heaven. Visitation was held on Friday, May 3 from 6 to 8 PM at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas. City of Howe SECONDS COUNT IN AN EMERGENCY! That's why the City of Howe has instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child or evacuation notices). The system is capable of dialing 60,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers a pre-recorded message describing the situations to a live person or an answering machine in the affected area possibly including instructions requiring action on the part of the recipient. Once the situation is remedied, another call will be placed to the area signaling that the issue has been addressed and that normal activities can be resumed. The following information is required to add a telephone number into the "CodeRED" database: first and last name; address (physical address, no P.O. boxes); city; state; Zip Code; and primary phone number. The system works with cellular phones but requires a valid street address. When entering information, please fill out all of the screens because the newest data entered will replace the old data. Texas History Minute Knowledge and obedience The Revolutionary War found the American colonies in a desperate struggle for independence against one of the great superpowers of the Ken Bridges eighteenth century, the British Empire. America found help in unexpected places. What turned out to be some of its most important foreign aid came from half a continent away from a largely unknown provincial Spanish governor, Bernardo de Galvez. Galvez served as governor of Spanish Louisiana, an area that at the time included Texas. Bernardo de Galvez was born in a small mountain village on the southern tip of Spain in 1746. His father was a respected officer in the Spanish army. The younger Galvez began his military career at the age of 16 during the Seven Years War in the Spanish attack on neighboring Portugal. He earned the rank of lieutenant and was sent to what is now the American Southwest shortly afterward and fought in many battles with the different Native American tribes the Spanish were trying to subjugate. He was injured many times and cited for his bravery, rising to the rank of captain while still in his teens. He returned to Spain in 1772. He took a number of assignments, including serving as an instructor at a military academy before returning to the New World and rose through the ranks. In 1777, Galvez, just 31, was named governor of Spanish Louisiana. The sprawling territory, which included Louisiana, large portions of East Texas and the Red River Valley, and lands all the way to the Dakotas and the Rocky Mountains, were under his command. The American Revolution erupted two years prior to Galvez becoming governor. A British defeat would take immense pressure off the Spanish in North America. However, the delicate diplomatic situation between Spain and Great Britain prevented him from taking any overt action. Nevertheless, he devised a plan to aid the colonists anyway. In 1777, he quietly pulled together supplies and sent them up the Mississippi River to the Ohio River and from there to Pennsylvania. He sent weapons, medical supplies, and uniform materials worth more than $2 million in 2024 dollars to a grateful Continental Army. In 1778, a group of American refugees came to Galvez seeking land and founded Galveztown in Southeast Louisiana. Galvez began sending troops

and colonists to the area in hopes of transforming the area in a Spanish military base against British intrigues in Spanish Florida. By August 1779, Spain was at war with England, and it was Galvez's job to oversee the defense of Spanish interests in the region. While there would be clashes between Spanish and English land forces, Galvez realized the bulk of the fighting would be naval battles in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. English naval supremacy prevented many supplies from reaching the colonies. By contrast, the American navy, though staffed with spirited men, consisted of only a handful of ships and was too small to cause any significant damage to the huge British fleet. However, France and Spain, with their large fleets, proved to be a much more even match. In late 1779, a message to British forces in Jamaica was intercepted by the Spanish, and Galvez prepared Louisiana for an attack. His forces deflected a British force at Baton Rouge in 1779. He sent the Spanish fleet to attack British ports and ships in the region. Slowly, he wore down the British advantage, allowing much needed supplies to reach the Americans. Galvez was preparing to press the advantage of the Spanish with an invasion of British Jamaica when word came that the war had ended. George Washington himself extended his lavish praise to Galvez in his role in the long war for American freedom. With the fighting over by 1782, Galvez represented Spain in the treaty negotiations in Paris to formalize the end of the war. He worked closely with his American counterpart, Ben Franklin, to help secure the new nation’s strategic interests while regaining Florida for Spain. The Treaty of Paris was formally approved in 1783. In 1785, he was appointed viceroy of New Spain by King Charles III. New Spain included all of Spain’s imperial possessions in North America and the Caribbean Sea, from Panama to California to Florida. As viceroy, Galvez was second only to the king in all matters relating to North America. He fell ill and died in Mexico City in November 1786 at the age of 40. Statues honoring him were later placed in New Orleans, Washington, DC, and Mobile, Alabama. Galveston was named for him when it was founded as a Mexican port in 1825. Congress named him as an honorary American citizen in 2014.

are not the same

It’s wonderful to be positiveminded and appreciate that God is good all the time because He is! It’s common to seek the Lord for His protecDr. Billy Holland tion and blessings as this usually takes up a majority of our prayer time, and it’s perfectly fine to do so. However, it’s also important to remember we are not just a spectator within the Christian life waiting for manna from heaven. Being a participator is a very real aspect of our personal relationship with Jesus Christ that involves our responsibility to trust and obey Him. Our vow to follow God is the seldom-mentioned covenant promise we make when we call on Him to save us. If we are not passionate about becoming one with Him, it's likely we do not understand what it means. Peter is one of the most significant characters in the New Testament and like the other followers of Jesus, we can learn valuable wisdom from them. Yes, they were flawed and had their times of weakness (like us), but we notice that Peter did not give up. I’ve always appreciated his boldness and he reminds me of the guy who is an alpha male that wants to be the leader of the pack. We've all known people like that and reminds us that when we are weak God is strong. This was also the case with Peter as he was the first one to declare that nothing or no one in this world could stop him from standing with Jesus and His kingdom. And yet, we see that when Christ was arrested and the heat was turned up he was facing a situation of life and death, he denied Christ three times. Now, I’m not on the bandwagon to criticize him for being afraid. In fact, I probably would have done the same thing at that stage in my Christian life. It’s easy to brag about how spiritual we are until a sword is placed at our neck. As Jesus was eventually crucified by the Romans who thought they were distinguishing a rebellion, Peter as one of His disciples was very familiar with this brutal torture. The thought of being nailed to a cross paralyzed him with fear. There are many lessons to learn from his life, but the good

news is that he finally understood what it meant to be faithful. A disturbing thought is that I’ve been a Christian for many years and wonder if I know what it truly means. Foxes Book of Martyrs is a sobering resource that reveals what going all the way for Christ is all about. After Peter’s early failures, we see him preaching at Pentecost as he continued to progress into a spiritual powerhouse, and eventually was given another chance to stand with or deny Jesus. This time he did not hesitate. According to historical writers in the second century, his execution was ordered by Emperor Nero, who blamed the Christians for a devastating fire that had ravaged Rome. They record that Peter requested to be crucified upside down, as he felt unworthy to die in the same manner as his Lord. By this time it was clear that his love for Jesus went far beyond being a security guard for the Messiah's earthly kingdom. He knew Christ was the Son of God who created all things and was the Alpha and Omega, the Almighty Master and Judge of all. He was no longer afraid of what man could do, he was only focused on the one whose grace was immeasurable and whose mercy endures forever. You see, the average Christian has read and heard Bible verses which is wonderful. What we try to avoid is explaining why they mean nothing to us. Excuse me? Of course, we embrace all the promises of chocolate cake, but when it comes to us demonstrating our obedience to His sacrificial demands we try to change the subject. The problem is not the lack of Bible knowledge, it’s believing it enough to live by it. Understanding information and exercising it are two different things. The modernized gospel message is presented as a simple and painless invitation to accept eternal life in heaven. Yes, the church attendance numbers are larger but is God pleased with everyone who declares they are religious? Rememnber the Pharisee’s? The Lord would rather have someone understand one command and be committed to living it than for the whole world to memorize the Bible and live however they want. The Patriot Pony

"Better to Die in Glory" America is under attack-Adeeply emotional speech from "Americas Mom" Sheronna Bishop By ROBERT W MALONE MD, MS “It’s better to die in battle in full glory than to once again be slaves upon our ancient ground”. America is under attack. There is no doubt we are actively under radical tyranny under this regime right now. The laws that are being changed to accommodate communism and legalize the grooming of children in America, parents are being alienated while the state steps in to take over and convert our kids to the lie of communism and indoctrinate them into trans ideology. They started with a comprehensive sex education class and I think I've heard a lot of rumors of these things are happening here in Romania. It has evolved from from mental health care into literally the mutilation of children without parent’s knowledge or consent. These things are happening in America right now. Since January 7th, 2020, the United States “Corporation” openly declared war on the American people. Everyone knows about January 6th when a million or more patriots had come together to support our real president, Donald J. Trump. This event was infiltrated by FBI and CIA agents to entrap and create chaos, but many people don't know what happened On January 7th. Just the very next day, hundred of thousands social media accounts were canceled immediately. Conservative Republican voices were shut down across the United States because you could not dare say anything about the Biden regime and their illegitimate victory in the 2020 election. Through multiple lawsuits, we've now discovered how actively aggressive our government has been against us, against regular people and those who had any type of voice in our country. People have a hard time believing this is actual, but it is. It's happening. It's true, and every day that you watch the weaponization against Donald Trump, the first time that a president has been attacked this way using every facet they have of the justice system to take him down. But the problem is, as you well know, they are not just coming after him. They're coming after the regular everyday person who dares to stand up to a government and believe that they have a seat at the table. Our founders created a Constitution, but they added some-

thing called the Bill of Rights. These are intrinsic rights. They are Godgiven. They're not mandated. They are God-given. They're intrinsic. We know that we have the right to speak up and say what we want to, to worship as we choose, and to express our grievances to our government. I can tell you right now that even the first amendment to the Bill of Rights, and actually all 10 amendments have been completely corrupted over the last three and a half years. On November 16th, 2021, I was making breakfast for my boys who I was homeschooling at that time. We had pulled our kids out of these failing public school systems when we heard banging on our door. I was a regular everyday parent. My husband worked in criminal justice and I was actively involved in politics. We had been rallying our school boards. This was mentioned in that incredible introduction. Thank you. We were doing all the things that citizens need to do to secure their own local communities. It's just a part of our lives, right? It's not special. It's not politics. It's what you're supposed to do as a citizen of your country and us as American citizens. I started hearing, banging- loud banging on my front door. It got louder, my boys got scared, and I heard them start yelling “open up”. “It's the FBI and we have a warrant”. My husband came upstairs. My children were put in their rooms quietly and quickly, and I just remember standing there just completely shell shocked. Because this stuff happens in other countries, countries that don't have a bill of rights, countries that don't have a sheriff, countries that don't have the doctrine of innocent until proven guilty, but everything is changing in America. They promptly busted open my door with a battering ram. It was unlocked. They took me, handcuffed me and my husband in front of our home, and then paraded us for everyone. See, we had committed no crime. That was three years ago. Nothing's ever been done since. The government in America is actively using terror and the abuse of law to silence as many people as possible. So, how does this make Europe great again? I want you to know what we did. We doubled and tripled down.

We took every opportunity to scream from the rooftops what had happened to our family, how the government was utilizing its illegal authority against us to silence us and stop us from doing two things. One is holding legal and legitimate elections. I know you all can understand that here. And number two, protecting our children. We can never be silent. We can never be quiet. I learned so much from watching your future (Romanian) President George Simeon and reading his account of 12 times now being arrested for advocating for freedom. We cannot allow the fear of our reputation of holding onto the things that we think we possess, our education, our titles, our status, our position in society to prevent us from doing what your line just said, “better to die in battle, in full glory than to once again be slaves upon our ancient ground”. We would call that living on our knees in America, and we just will not do it. We will not do it. You have to have the strength of conviction. You have to have the courage of conscience, when everyone else around you is telling you what you're doing is foolish. That it will never work, and it doesn't have the popular majority. You have to stand. Over these last few years while working with the great Mike Lindell and watching people like President Trump, Peter Navarro, Roger Stone, and all these incredible people who've shown us what it looks like to stand in the face of tyranny, what's been even more impressive has been the regular everyday moms and dads who will not submit their children to the Luciferians. As I heard that word said here today. I believe that this is not just a communist agenda but a satanic agenda. If our children are not raised to recognize God, if they don't believe in what is normal and natural and neutral, then we have nothing to boast about, not our reputation, not our degrees, not our title, and not our wealth. Because our children and a hundred years of victory mean that they have our values, they have our God, which means they generate children and produce more. They should be doing better than us, but this looks like first generation that this will not be possible. They truly will be less than…, if you and I

do not decide to take up the mantle and step up for them. Our freedoms to speak were taken in America. Many live under fear. They live under stress and duress that the government will be at their door. If you are supposedly anti-government or anti -authority or a veteran, you are now added to the domestic terrorist list in America. All the while our borders are left open to bring in over 21 million illegal aliens whom we have no idea who they are, where they come from, or what their motives are in our country. Our elections are under attack in America. To make Europe great again, to make any country again, we must secure the family. We must advocate for God. And we must know that we have real elections or we will degenerate into simply a banana republic. If you do not know that you are having real elections, if you cannot gauge the chain of custody of the ballots that come in, if you do not know legal people, lawful people are actually voting in your elections, then you cannot confirm your country will continue to exist. Not in the manner in which you hope. It is on us. It is on us. Everyone now is looking for Trump to take back the office again. But here is the reality, Trump is not in office right now, and there is no guarantee that he will return because we don't rig elections on our side. John Wayne is dead, and the cavalry is not coming. You are the cavalry. You are the one you've been waiting for. You are the one who has the power to change what is coming next. If you do not act with your God-given authority and stand up, regardless of what anyone else says, it may not happen. That is what you should be doing. That is what will happen, the moment that you submit and lay your will down to the power of the living God. To submit to his will in your life. To the role you will play, not only to secure Europe, but to secure this world from this common conspiracy that seeks to strip every single one of us of our natural rights. The moment you do that, real freedom will begin.

The Patriot Pony Biden Finally Chastises Antisemitic, Violent Campus Protesters Spencer Brown: After being criticized for burying previous comments on the surge of pro-terrorist unrest on American campuses at the end of his written Passover statement, President Joe Biden abruptly made public remarks about “what’s going on on our college campuses” Thursday morning (Townhall). Townhall: Biden finally speaks on the pro-Hamas demonstrations taking over college campuses across the country: “Let me be clear… violent protest is not protected, peaceful protest is…vandalism, trespassing, breaking windows, shutting down campuses, forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations, none of this is a peaceful protest” (X).

Democrats Nervous Campus Protests Could CauseVoters to Rally BehindTrump Axios: House and Senate Democrats’ anxiety is spiking as pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses around the country kick into overdrive. “The longer they continue, and the worse that they get, the worse it’s going to be for the election overall,” one House Democrat told Axios. The demonstrations, the lawmaker warned, are “bringing out the public’s most conservative side. “In the last 24 hours, protests on college campuses from New York to California have escalated in severity. Photos and videos of these campus protests made the rounds among horrified Democratic lawmakers (Axios). Daily Wire: Former President Donald Trump has been outspoken in his denunciation of the protests. He said Wednesday, “I say remove the encampments immediately, vanquish the radicals and take back our campuses for all of the normal students who want a safe place from which to learn” (Daily Wire).

Nation of Colombia CuttingAll Diplomatic Ties With Israel Left-wing President Gustavo Petro is a former member of the Marxist guerrilla group “19th of April” (Britannica). NPR: Colombia is set to break diplomatic relations with Israel over its actions in Gaza. Speaking to a crowd in the capital Bogotá on Wednesday, Colombian President Gustavo Petro said that the country “will break diplomatic relations with the state of Israel” on Thursday, calling its government “genocidal.” “If Palestine dies, humanity dies, and we are not going to let it die,” he said. Colombia is one of the U.S.’s closest partners in Latin America, and it has previously been a close partner of Israel (NPR). Times of Israel: Petro has repeatedly lambasted Israel’s actions in Gaza, refusing to condemn Hamas’s October 7 onslaught — in which some 1,200 people were mur-

dered and 253 taken hostages, mostly civilians. Just three days after the massacre, he likened top Israeli officials to Nazi Germany (Times of Israel).

Judge Juan Merchan is Doing Everything He Can to Convict DonaldTrump National Review: In the ongoing criminal trial, elected progressive Democratic DA Alvin Bragg doesn’t have much of a case. But he has the judge, and that is all he needs. Judge Juan Merchan is orchestrating Trump’s conviction of a crime that is not actually charged in the indictment: conspiracy to violate FECA (the Federal Election Campaign Act — specifically, its spending limits). That should not be possible in the United States, where the Constitution’s Fifth Amendment mandates that an accused may only be tried for a felony offense if it has been outlined with specificity in an indictment, approved by a grand jury that has found probable cause for that offense (National Review). Fox News: But unless one or more brave souls on that jury see through this fraud of a Soviet-style show trial and hangs the jury, many convictions are coming Trump’s way, and the Merchan/Bragg combo is going down in American legal history along with the names of every other disreputable judge and prosecutor you can recall from American history (Fox News). Wall Street Journal: President Biden

China Ignores Biden’s Red Line in Ukraine warned China two years ago not to provide “material support” for Russia’s war in Ukraine. On Friday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken conceded that Xi Jinping ignored that warning. China, Mr. Blinken said, was “overwhelmingly the No. 1 supplier” of Russia’s military industrial base, with the “material effect” of having fundamentally changed the course of the war. Whatever Mr. Biden chooses to do next will be momentous for global security and stability. Mr. Biden can either enforce his red line through sanctions or other means, or he can signal a collapse of American resolve by applying merely symbolic penalties. Beijing and its strategic partners in Moscow, Tehran, Pyongyang and Caracas would surely interpret halfhearted enforcement as a green light to deepen their campaign of global chaos. Mr. Xi sees a historic opportunity here to undermine the West (Wall Street Journal). FDD: China Has Crossed Biden’s Red Line on Ukraine. The president warned Xi not to provide ‘material support’ to Russia. Will there be consequences (X).

Biden Looks to Deepen U.S.TiesWith theWorld Health Organization Katie Pavlich: Senate Republicans are sounding the alarm over the Biden administration’s latest plans to partner with the World Health Organization on future pandemic management. In a letter sent directly to President Joe

Biden Wednesday, dozens of Senators warn he is selling out U.S. sovereignty to the international body under the guise of an “emergency” (Townhall). Fox News: The Republican senators stressed that any such agreement would be considered a treaty, which they noted requires “the concurrence of two-thirds of the Senate under Article I Section 2 of the Constitution” (Fox News).

back as 1972 the church had adopted language in its Book of Discipline that stated those convictions clearly. As recently as 2019, the Methodists had even strengthened the language. The statement was clear: “The practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching. Therefore selfavowed practicing homosexuals are not to be certified as candidates, ordained as ministers, or appointed to serve in The United Methodist Church.” That language is about as clear as it gets. No one misunderstood what it meant (WNG).

Poll Reveals Americans Have Little Faith in the Media Iran Uses Oil Profits to Sow AP Poll: The public relies heavily on local and national news organizations as sources for news about elections, but many adults have concerns about the reliability of the information they get. About half of adults say they are extremely or very concerned about news organizations reporting inaccurate information (53%). Almost as many worry news outlets will report unverified information (47%) or focus too much on divisions or controversies (48%) (AP Poll). HotAir: As a result, only 14% express confidence in the national media — and only 11% in their local media. Should the media be surprised by this? No, but they certainly will pretend to be. The Associated Press predictably tries to shift blame for the confidence crisis in their industry (HotAir). Associated Press: Years of suspicion about journalists, much of it sown by politicians, is partly responsible. People are also less familiar with how journalism works (Associated Press).

United Methodist Church Joins the Ranks of LGBTQ Albert Mohler: The United Methodist Church committed theological treason yesterday, leaving Biblical Christianity behind in a headlong rush to join the LGBTQ revolution. In the view of the progressives, they were making up for lost time. In the long view of Christian history, they were marching off the map of orthodox Christianity. By a vote of 692 to 51, and without a word of formal debate, the United Methodist General Conference voted to overturn the church’s historic discipline and doctrine on homosexuality. As far

DiscordThroughout the Middle EastThrough Terrorist Proxies

Times of Israel: Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Thursday said Iran was the “driving force” of a recent multi-front escalation, while detailing the funding the Islamic Republic provides to its proxies across the region. Gallant told reporters in a briefing that Iran funds the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon with $700 million a year, as well as “knowledge and strategic weaponry” such as precisionguided munitions. The Hamas terror group that rules the Gaza Strip is funded by Iran with $100 million annually, with additional funding worth tens of millions of dollars going to the second largest terror group in the Palestinian enclave, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Gallant said (Times of Israel). Wall Street Journal: Iran’s oil exports hit a six-year high last month. In a normal country, this wouldn’t be news. But the Islamic Republic isn’t a normal country. The regime in Tehran is a violent theocracy under U.S. and international sanctions. President Trump reimposed energy sanctions on Iran in 2018 when he left the Iran nuclear deal. These sanctions remain in effect, but the Biden administration is failing to enforce them, which has created a financial windfall for Iranian terrorism. Iran’s oil revenue underwrites a war machine that is tearing apart the Middle East. Oil proceeds finance militias in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain and Yemen. They target and kill American citizens. In January, Iranian proxies killed three American soldiers stationed in Jordan (Wall Street Journal).
